It is this disconnection from the fundamental movements that drives a generation of chronic pain, poor posture, scoliosis, and a general lack of coordination. FP Costa Mesa is determined to change this and we're offering free initial consultations.

At the age of 31, I found Functional Patterns after nearly a decade of of yoga, in a hyper-mobile body that could barely hold itself while standing, joint-muscle pain, and depression (from no longer being able to move my body in a way that felt right or strong). Prior to FP, I had done plenty of massage, physical therapy exercises and other pain management modalities…all providing great relief but nothing that was sustainable or long lasting. I learned through FP how elongated and over stretched my body was, and that my joints were primarily the only scaffolding to my body.
I’ve trained under the system for about 3 years and change, and have been out of acute pain since the first few months. I've stuck with FP to level up my body’s ability to build muscular support in areas I’ve never been able to access, to correct my scoliotic spine, and to re-establish proper shoulder-hip function dynamics and combat peri-menopause, when that sets in.
On a trip out to California, I was pointed to checked out FP Costa Mesa. The team here has been a pleasure to work with (Tony and Andy). From the initial call to the post session check-in’s, I have felt considered, heard, and guided through my sessions under the watchful guidance of these skilled practitioners.

I wholeheartedly recommend this! I have been involved in the fitness industry for 13 years, being a Bikini Pro and an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer.
I found out later in life I had scoliosis, a couple of years ago I came across the FP online 10-week Program and Functional Training System courses. While I completed the courses online by myself, I realized my body wasn't moving as it should. I knew I needed 1:1 coaching. Although the nearest FB practitioner was over an hour away(without traffic), I knew it would be beneficial.
The drive has been completely worth it!! Andy is reteaching me how to stand, walk, run, and move my body optimally as a whole. I only wish I had started my fitness journey with this fundamental foundation!!

I’ve been training at Functional Patterns Costa Mesa for about 2 months, and it’s been awesome. As a jiu jitsu athlete, I came in with posture issues and imbalances from years on the mat. Since starting, I feel like I’m actually getting stronger while fixing those imbalances at the same time. The facility is always really clean, and the trainers are super knowledgeable and dope to work with. Highly recommend to any athlete looking to move and feel better.

Functional Patterns is on the cutting edge of physical training. You won’t really get what they have to offer here anywhere else. The exercises, approach to training, equipment, and coaches are all next level — Programs are personalized to each individual to address movement deficiencies and increase strength and peak performance at the same time. As someone with a history of injuries and pain I feel like they actually address aspects of movement that your standard exercises and approaches just don’t touch. I can not speak more highly of Andy and the entire staff!!! I have worked with a couple of the coaches at FP Costa Mesa and I consider myself very blessed to have found this place. I have struggled with musculoskeletal issues for years- stemming from military service. As I’ve aged the issues have gotten worse and traditional modalities have not helped in the long term. When I first came to functional patterns I was in tears during my first meeting with coach Trevor! His story was
like mine and I received a tremendous amount of hope and understanding from him. I wish I found this place years ago-

Andy is the best and fp Is a game changer.
Andy has helped my body recover from 25 years of international travel. Every week I'm seeing improvements in how I look and feel. I feel like fp has helped to slow, and possibly reverse my physical aging.
What Andy has done for me pales in comparison to what he's has done for my 15 year old son. He plays competitive baseball and Fp has helped to unlock his body. It's led to noticeable strength, speed, and power gains. By working with his body and not against it's it, his movements on the field are much more efficient and athletic.

Literally one session with Christine working on my posture and my chronic neck pain is gone! I’ve tried to correct my posture so many times over the years and had worked with a chiropractor, hospital physical therapist AND sports physical therapist but was never able to rid my neck pain. Training Functional Patterns with Andy has been an eye-opening experience. I had heard about how Functional Patterns can improve athletic performance, and as an avid boxer, I was interested in improving my boxing. So, I reached out to Andy for a consultation and he was able to quickly identify the imbalances in my body and posture that were preventing me from increasing my potential in boxing. Once we started working to correct these imbalances, I noticed that I had more power, balance, and even endurance when boxing - I felt snappier and lighter on my feet but also didn’t get tired as fast. The techniques he’s shown me are now staples of my training routine and I couldn’t imagine going without them.

Andy did an excellent job of simplifying complicated concepts about the human body and helping individualize and apply Functional Patterns principles for me. The videos were detailed and informative, but felt like I would benefit from an in-person setting to better learn and apply the information. There were some practitioners in the LA and SD area, but I was really looking for someone hopefully in OC, and that’s when I found Andy. Andy is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to his craft. I've been training with Andy at OC Biomechanics since he first started out. The results I've seen have been tremendous. Not only have I gotten in the best shape of my life, he has actively worked with me to fix my dysfunctions. I have an indented chest and lots of rib flare because of it. We have been able to dial back the rib flare a good 75-85% with corrective exercises. My gait has improved, my sprint speed has reached 20mph, and I am overall injury free. Andy is an excellent trainer and he is fantastic at explaining complex movements in ways that my caveman brain can understand. If you want to work out in a way that is functional and adapted to the way our bodies are supposed to move, want to build strength, and prevent injuries, then OC Biomechanics is absolutely the place to get it done. I will continue working with Andy for as long as I can. He really is the man!

OC Biomechanics has completely changed the way I exercise and move. Before I came in, I did typical gym workouts like bench presses, bicep curls, squats, and deadlifts because that’s all I knew how to do. These exercises left my joints with lingering aches and pains that no one else could resolve. I tried it all - physical therapy, massage, chiropractors, etc but the pain always came back. After a few sessions with Andy applying Functional Patterns, I’m back to feeling pain-free for the first time in years. I had heard about Functional Patterns after seeing their posts online and their dramatic before/after transformations, so I tried their 10 Week Online Course. It was a great start, but I needed more hands-on instruction to personalize the techniques for my own particular body. I was dealing with lots of inflammation and muscular imbalances which caused bad posture, nagging shoulder pain, and chronic weight gain due to trouble with my eating habits. A friend referred me to Andy and he was able to cue me through the techniques with many details that made them feel way more effective and engage different muscles than I was used to when training by myself. Over time, my body finally began to create new holding patterns and this resulted in better posture, reduced anxiety which helped stop my overeating, and even being pain-free in my shoulder!
