David is great! He took me from barely being able to lift anything to over a plate on bench press in no time. I feel stronger than ever and really enjoyed his customized workout routines. Would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to work on their overall strength. He's also very engaged with his clients (doesn't sit on his phone) and really watches you to make sure you have correct form and technique.

I've been strength training on my own for 10+ years, yet never was able to increase my squat lifts past 65 lb for reps.

I had worked a couple times with trainers at other commercial gyms in the past when they offered intro sessions, and have always left unimpressed and super reluctant to pay for continued training. For example, one trainer had me put small weights under my heels because he claimed I didn't have enough ankle mobility (spoiler: my ankle mobility is phenomenal). Others told me my squat looked absolutely fine to them when I KNEW it wasn't absolutely fine.

David spent the first session with me evaluating my form on every major lift: squat, conventional deadlift, bench press, and overhead press. Based on my anatomy, he recommended I start doing low bar squats vs. the high bar squats that I had been attempting the last decade. We worked on form, breathing and bracing techniques, how far knees should move forward, etc. For my other lifts, he had me make small tweaks to my overall setup and form, which made a noticeable difference.

David also knows when to push you to lift more and when to hold off. He's also the opposite of what a stereotypical personal trainer is like, personality-wise — very considerate, actually listens to your goals and how you physically feel for the day, not hopped up on pre-workout, and answers questions patiently.

Fast forward to 8 sessions later: My squats steadily increased over time from 65lb to start to 100lb today! Best part? I used to get pain in my knees after leg day, but with David's guidance and instruction, I squatted 100lb with no knee pain. In fact, it actually helped alleviate some of the stiffness I had from hiking 8 miles the day before.

Anyway, if you're looking for a personal trainer to help you learn all aspects of strength training, I highly recommend David.

I’m a senior and have been retired for over a year and a half. I had been doing daily walking to keep active, but I felt I needed more to build muscle and body strength. My doctor recommended for me to join a gym, which I did, but I had never set foot in a gym and it was so overwhelming. I didn’t know where to start and what machines would be good for me. I needed some help and guidance. My daughter recommended her trainer David, who she is been training with for several years. I met with David and talked about how I could strengthen my body. David listened and was very knowledgeable. He set up a workout plan to help me to start to achieve my goals. I have been training with David about six months and I can already see results. I’ve gained muscle and am now able to do some floor pushups. I know that I am getting stronger because everyday tasks feel easier. The best decision I made for my physical health was to let David help me with my fitness journey.

I'm 72 years old with two knee replacements and one hip replacement. I've been working with David for 8 months. I went from deadlifting an 8 pound kettlebell in physical therapy to a 200-pound trapbar deadlift. From a bodyweight squat, I've reached a 165-pound barbell squat. David pushes me when I need it, but he is very patient and when appropriate, he will modify exercises to suit my old bones. I highly recommend him.

David is an amazing trainer— he helped me stay healthy when I was overweight and pregnant with my second child. I was able to gain a minimal/healthy amount of weight when I gave birth and my fast recovery from the birth impressed the entire delivery team. And, funnily enough, my child is now built like a weightlifter! He’s stocky and strong and meeting his gross motor milestones! Must’ve been all that weight training I did while he was in my belly ha. I of course consulted with my doctor and with David during the entire process and we were able to use a heart monitor to make sure that I was never overextending myself but still staying healthy. I am thankful for the time that we had and wish we could’ve stayed in the bay area so that I could’ve continued training with him. Personal training with David over the past year and half has been a great journey. He’s dedicated to making his clients feel their best while pushing them into new workout limits! I’m a busy mom of 3 and I’ve noticed I’ve gotten much stronger since working out with him. “Deadlifting” 205 pounds I never would have imagined I’d be able to( thank you David ) Carrying a car seat and stroller in and out of my car multiple times a day has gotten a lot easier. I also had to bring my 7 month old son and my 8 year old with me to workout and he’s so good with the kids entertaining them while I’m working out. My daughter loves to come with me to see him. 100% recommend David as the perfect trainer for someone like me, who has never been to a gym. It was daunting, and David made it feel comfortable to be a beginner. That was the first hurdle he helped me cross, and since them he's affected so many positive changes to my lifestyle. I'm way more conscious of what I eat, how I spend my time outside of the gym and make working out a regular part of my week. He eased me into the weights and rightly identified my limitations, then pushed me further. I started with 50-60lbs on a bench and i maxed out at 135 last week. I started training with David in late 2021. I largely wanted a strong base of strength for long term health and have the skills necessary to maintain the strength. I decided it was prudent to finally begin the journey and not use "COVID delays" as an excuse. My previous experience in exercise was a mostly daily 15 mile bike rides during lockdown so I had a base of cardio. Personally, I thought my journey would be difficult with stagnant progress and difficulty but David understands the process and is encouraging but not aggressive and pushy. The progress was immediately apparent. Through COVID I kept up exercise but hit a stopping point. After training with David, my mind was clearer and my sleep was better. My stamina improved and my cycling (in particular climbing) was incredible. Now I had an improved, rigid, daily routine and I felt more prepared for my day.

Through David's guidance and persistence, I was able to achieve great personal records through the three basic lifts. I felt more comfortable with my body and was able to use my strength for tasks often, to noticeable effect. David helped me have confidence in my skills at the gym through his simple cyclic lift regimens with "add on" exercises to top off the exercise. The self improvement and health benefits are of course a plus! Would recommend anyone to train with David at all skill levels. Attached my recent PRs! :-)

Look no further if you are in need of a personal trainer! I’ve known David for a while now, as his barber and as my personal trainer. Working in the barber industry, i noticed how personal health can be neglected with bad eating habits due to long hours of cutting hair. I believed signing up to a gym had kick start a healthier lifestyle but i had days falling short of work-outs, sometimes visiting more cardio machines. I felt healthier but also felt I lacked strength training and guidance. David is an amazing trainer! When I started my journey I was about 147lbs with a good amount of that being body fat and hardly any lean muscle. Not only was he able to assist me in what to do exercise wise, but was also able to provide nutritional advice, which you really need to be able to be successful in your weight loss journey. i’ve been training with david for about 2 years now and, wow, have i seen so much progress thanks to his guidance!

i started training with him as a way to push myself and keep myself accountable because, growing up, i’ve never prioritized my physical health/fitness. i always hated pe class and would put in the bare minimum to get a passing grade; however, training with david has shown me that exercising/powerlifting can actually be pretty fun! i even look forward to our weekly sessions - he’ll change up the training program every so often so it never gets boring!

i always feel so accomplished after every session — david will push you in a way like no other… before training with david, i was quite intimidated by the idea of weightlifting. it was so foreign to me and i was afraid of hurting myself but he would always ease my worries and patiently correct my form. i remember how nervous i was the first couple of session (even an empty bar made me nervous) but now i can deadlift & squat over 1.5x my bodyweight!!

I wasn’t really looking for a trainer, but I wanted to get fit for my brother’s wedding and look good wearing a gown, so I scrambled & tried to look for the fastest way to lose weight. I didn’t really know what I was doing and felt lost in the middle of 30 treadmills going to gyms like Planet fitness.

When I first met David, I cried a little because I told him I was depressed, exhausted & anxious about a lot of things in life, and I was not sure if I could push through with something like this. But he told me, “you are doing this for yourself and you are here because you want to make a change”. I don’t know how, but getting hit with this conversation really made me want to change my habits and mentality and relationship with exercise and food.

Fast forward to now, I got more than what I asked for. I lost 15 pounds and have done 3 powerlifting meets. I have lost weight, gotten stronger, and have more confidence with myself. Now I just want to sleep & lift heavy all the time. I’ve never loved myself more than ever.

I always was intimidated about going to the gym and exercising due to a lot of preconceived notions and stigmas, and he helped me slowly change my perspective towards exercise, to the point that I actually started to enjoy the process of working out, moving better and doing more. David has been my trainer for several years. When I was first looking for a personal trainer, I wanted someone who could plan workouts for me, make sure my form was right, and keep me consistent and accountable. Not only does David give you a killer work out, but he tries to work with your schedule as much as possible so you get consistent gym time every week.

David also takes the time to understand what your goals are and creates a training program to help you meet those goals. He'll ask you what your current lifestyle looks like (what do you eat, how much protein do you get in a day, etc.) and make suggestions along the way.

I am way more fit and so much stronger after training with David. In 2018, I had trouble lifting 150 lbs. Now in 2024, I hit a PR of 265 lbs.
