Great to be back at GTS. Set up getting back to the gym since back in SoCal a month. Awesome that they have expanded to a second area next door. So you get the best of free weights and machines. Love the reservation and fob entry to assure the place always is easy to work out with no water time normally for racks or machines.

GTS El Segundo is a gem. The reservation based gym approach prevents overcrowding & I never have to wait for equipment. I highly recommend taking their coaching classes. They're extremely worth the investment as the coaches are super friendly, encouraging and knowledgable.

GTS is a fantastic choice for anyone serious about strength training—whether you're just starting out or aiming to break through a plateau. I joined specifically to improve full-body lifts and target big muscle groups. A friend recommended I learn deadlifts with a professional, and that turned out to be great advice.

I’d worked with personal trainers before but found the constant micromanaging—counting reps and hovering over every movement—pretty demotivating. GTS takes a different approach. Their coaching model offers access to knowledgeable staff who step in when you want feedback, without getting in the way. I mix coached sessions for guidance with open gym time that fits my schedule.

After 18 months at GTS, I’ve consistently gotten stronger, improved my form on key lifts, and added lean muscle. The El Segundo location has a history of training people in competitions. This is a great community of people who like building strength and having fun.

Pros: Skilled coaches, flexible training options, efficient and no-nonsense environment
Cons: Not a “scene”—you won’t be stuck waiting for equipment or surrounded by gym influencers.

Love this gym! Almost through my first month and already my favorite of all gyms I’ve ever had a membership at. So easy to get on any equipment I need, so no waiting. The coaches/staff have been super helpful and are easy to get a hold of with any questions.
I love the self service system…book a workout time slot online, let yourself in and work out! Incredible, I’m addicted.

Signed up with Game yesterday at their Redondo branch with Phil. Went down this morning to Segundo branch to knock out my leg day. Well equipped gym. Felt right at home upon entering. Standard gym rule; clean up after yourself, our mum does not work here.

A great gym to do my Hyrox training. The body knows the jet lag from Singapore. The body does not know the 4am at a different location. The body does not know a leg day at a different gym. The body recognises consistency in my training. Thanks Game Time for allowing me to be consistent and just show up and work harder.

Hands down one of the best gyms I've been too. All coaches here really focus on you perfecting your form for every workout you do. I have been going to the gym without proper training for years! I've already started seeing results both physically and mentally. They seriously made going to the gym a satisfying and fun experience.

The coaches here are truly outstanding—they are incredibly knowledgeable and help everyone meet their needs and goals. Even if you’ve lifted for years or barely starting out, they teach you so much on day 1! What stands out most is the fairness and respect they show to everyone, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment! Especially as a girl going into a new gym, that can be quite intimidating, but the GTS locations feel like home.

I’ve had the privilege of doing two powerlifting competitions with their guidance, and their support was phenomenal. They celebrated every milestone with me and motivated me to push even further. Whether you’re new to lifting or experienced, this is the place to grow, learn, and thrive. I’m already looking forward to more competitions!

the trainers are amazing - see my review of the westchester location - but let me talk about the equipment. there are a ton of power racks in this OG location and the other locations. plenty of benches. leg press, leg curl/extension machine, multiple cable machines, assisted pull ups (at the westchester location - but you get access to them all), and all the dumbbells/kettlebells you'll ever need. they have a bunch of additional equipment too for warmups and functional training like bands, ab wheels, sleeves, etc. basically this gym is loaded with equipment and whether you use one of their programs or do it yourself, you'll have all the equipment you need to get an awesome workout!

I been here one time since I was an area and I didn’t want to drive to my regular location (Redondo Beach). I would like to say how having multiple locations is so convenient! Visiting from out of town. Gym was highly communicative and accommodating and worked with me to fit my needs. What I'd give to have a gym like this back home! In an awesome neighborhood, and a high trust, community feel inside. Supportive environment. I LOVE GTS. This gym has been a breath of fresh air that was well needed in my life. I have tried kick boxing, Pilates, and some other workouts, but this is the one I love. I look forward to coming to the gym and I owe that all to the trainers. They are an amazing group of people. They are friendly, dedicated to you doing your best, funny, just an overall great group of people. Also, I don’t think that i have met other members at GTS that I have not liked! Everyone that is a member has been great to talk to. People at this gym are normal people, friendly folks.

I absolutely this gym. It's not just one of my favorite gyms in LA; it's among the best I've ever experienced. During a work trip, I was on the hunt for a quality gym and stumbled upon GTS. Right from the start, I felt warmly welcomed by Jason and his team. Beyond providing an excellent workout environment, the gym is impeccably clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need, all while retaining that genuine gym ambiance. It felt like I was working out in my own personal home gym. As someone who frequents the gym 5-6 times a week, GTS is unequivocally the place to be in LA. Overall, it was an exceptional experience!

I have really enjoyed my experience training at GTS so far. The structured programming takes the guesswork out of workouts for me. Having my sessions planned out ahead of time with a checklist to cross items off allows me to fully focus on my training without being overwhelmed by decisions. I appreciate how the trainer makes workouts interactive by incorporating the whiteboard - it's fun to see my progress tracked visually.

Coming from larger commercial gyms, I found the environment at GTS to be less intimidating. With fewer people around, I don't feel as self-conscious or like I don't belong. The small class sizes also ensure I get individualized attention to learn proper form. My trainer has done a great job easing me into training at a comfortable pace to build sustainable habits. I'm looking forward to our upcoming testing day to see how my strength has improved.

Exactly what I was looking for when I moved to LA and wanted to join an old-school strength-training gym! I was tired of chain gyms that want you to train like you're in a library or church, have insane wait times for popular equipment, or try to constantly upsell you. I wanted a more authentic and customizable workout experience, and GTS delivers exactly that. The coaching and management team is super friendly and responsive, the facilities are clean, and there are zero wait times (sometimes it almost feels like working out in a private gym!). I haven't used them for training help yet, but all of the coaches are powerlifting athletes, so I don't doubt that they know what they're doing! I was always a gym rat but I feel even more excited about training because of the great workout sessions I experience at GTS. On top of everything, it's a great way to support a local business!

Part of the appeal of this place is that it’s in downtown El Segundo so anytime I finish a work out here I walk right out to an ocean breeze and a bunch of fun food options. But the major draw of this gym is that the coaches are second to none. They have my program dialed in and they are fanatical about technique. If your looking for quality training, you have found your spot. The staff works closely with their members and provides top notch instruction. The facility is well kept, and regulated in a manner so that you will rarely, if ever find yourself waiting to access gym equipment. As a former collegiate wrestler who continues to train in some form of combative arts this is a great tool that many athletes can use to improve their resistance to injury and increase their sports performance in a safe environment that prides itself on technical aspects of training. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced lifter, I would highly recommend the barbell masterclass. There are many techniques and concepts that the average gym goer overlooks, gaining exposure to this class can help improve your lifts, prevent injury and facilitate proper mind muscle activation.

Three weeks ago, I made a triumphant return to GTS after 6 years away. Prior to that, I trained with Kelske and his staff for 3 years. In that time, I learned what powerlifting was and even put some decent numbers on the bar. Life got complicated and way too much time went by. It was time for me to get strong again and I knew exactly where I needed to be. In some ways I’m starting over. I’m heavier and not as strong. However, after 3 weeks I’m feeling it all start to return — my muscle memory, not quite yet the pounds on the bar. The program designed for me takes into consideration where I’m at currently and leaves room for me to add more weight or reps as my body responds. I’m benefitting immensely from the form checks and cueing for proper form. I’m finding my groove and am well-pleased to be back! If you’re reading this review, you’re curious. Come and check it all out! You’ll be convinced too.

I have trained under Jason for years and I can't recommend him and the coaches at Game Time Strength enough. I have watched him train teenagers all the way up to 60 year old women. He is able to adapt his training to the needs of the client as opposed to a cookie cutter approach like so many professionals out there. Watching a teenager develop self esteem from lifting weights and 60 year old women beaming after picking up 300 pounds are sights to behold. This is what keeps Jason motivated. Jason has helped me through multiple phases of my lifting career and kept me from lifting weight and doing things that I thought were a good idea, but he knew would cause me to injure myself. When I start training under Jason I was in constant pain somewhere in my body. Jason showed me how to train smarter, better, and to make the most out of the time I can devote to the gym.

Such a great gym! During the original COVID lockdown in 2020 I got really into fitness but after a year of home workouts, I wanted to progress and start lifting some heavy weights. I originally signed up for the three day clinic to learn the lifts and really focus on form. I had done a few barbell lifts here and there but Jason and his trainers really helped me nail down technique and get comfortable with the lifts. I immediately signed up afterwards and made some great strength gains over the new few months until some family issues forced me to move out of state for awhile. Now that I'm back in the area full time I had to come back. I love the small atmosphere of the gym and the environment where people actually rerack their weights and pick up after themselves! Plus, with 4 different locations there is plenty of equipment and options to get a great workout without it being too crowded. Can't wait to make some serious strength gains again this year.

Just started with GTS and loving it. I signed up for the 3 day training camp with Jason the owner, and quickly realized this was the right training gym for me. The coaches are sticklers for technique, which is what you want when you are lifting heavy. The training camp was a great intro to their coaching program, which I happily signed up on the spot after my last day. Highly recommend supporting small businesses during this time vs big box gyms--especially for the attention you receive from their staff. Love that there are different locations to choose from and looking forward to my new program and getting back into lifting shape!

There are few places (no less gyms) where I feel more at home than at game time. I’ve been lifting at GTS for little over 3 years so my review might be a little biased, but then again there’s a reason I’ve built such a bias. I found GTS when I first moved to the city and decided to give it a shot even though I lived almost 20 miles away. 3 years later and I still drive almost 20 miles to get here. I’ve been stuck in anywhere from 30 to 70 minutes in traffic getting here, but it was always worth it in the end. All the equipment you could want, you can come and go as you please, there are no closed times and the community is really just a welcoming one. And while I haven’t been coached by Jason, I could always tell by observing him that he is completely invested in your progress, so if you’re looking for a powerlifting coach, reach out to Jason. Oh and if you happen to be looking for a gym with a weightlifting bar, they have two really nice Ivanko bearing bars that spin beautifully. Goes without saying that I’d highly recommend GTS!

Trained at GTS for over a year and a half, and coming from collegiate track and cross country, I was relatively inexperienced with the Olympic type lifts. Really I had nothing to worry about, the coaches Jason/Phil/Dennis/Nick and the other GTS athletes were great! They taught me the basics and then helped me make slight alterations here and there to perfect my lifts. I eventually competed in one of the lifting competitions and had a blast. The team here is awesome, I can't say enough good things!

Update
I’m back again after a break during quarantine. I’ve done the mega gyms (LA Fitness/ 24), the cross fit gyms, and even my own basic home gym, but nothing compares to GTS. Jason has put together an fun environment, with quality equipment, and purposed programming that gives people real results. I came in as primarily a runner wanting to challenge myself in new ways, building strength. Jason’s program got me comfortable completing squats, deadlifts, presses, etc. - building weight and realizing new strength. There’s nothing else out there like GTS that I’ve found.

GTS has been the most incredible gym experience I have had in my life. Not only is the coaching staff is extremely knowledgeable, but the entire energy of the gym is friendly and warm welcoming. Jason and the staff will help you reach your goals and become the strongest you have ever been. Even if you have never worked out a day in your life, the coaching staff is willing to work with you slowly until you are comfortable on your own. What I appreciate about GTS is the concentration on form and function, ensuring that you do not get injured throughout your daily workouts. I also appreciate the flexibility in commitment that allows you to come in for 'coaching hours' and get 1:1 time while only paying a fraction of the price of a 'personal trainer'. This is something I have not seen offered at any other gym. The gym is always clean and never too crowded since there is system of pre-selecting training slots that are open ahead of time. I would 10000% recommend joining this gym if you are looking to learn how to feel comfortable in the gym and become the strongest you have ever been.

My husband and I recently moved in to the area, and were on the lookout for a new gym. 4 Star Gym/Game Time Strength (GTS) came as the recommendation from the owner of a gym we formerly went to.

What I really appreciate about GTS is the program: their goal is to ensure safety and eventually transition you into being independent. The gym offers a 3-day introduction course and one-on-one with the coaches (I’ve worked with Jason, Kelly, Dennis, and Phil), who are all phenomenal. To give a little background, I don’t have much experience in powerlifting, except for a few group classes here and there. Just from that 3-day intro course at GTS, I’ve learned more about form than I personally ever could in a group setting. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, and most importantly, keep your form safe.

I am really looking forward to continue training at this gym. There is a place for everyone, regardless of experience.

I have never encountered a gym as thoughtful, non-judgmental, encouraging, and effective as GTS. Whether you are a competitive powerlifter or someone who has never touched a barbell, everyone on staff will make you feel welcome and comfortable from day 1. If you have ever experienced anxiety in the gym, the combination of reservations, programs, and coaching is the perfect recipe to combat this. You will never wait for a squat rack or feel pressured to rush on a piece of equipment. You will always have a coach making sure you are performing moves safely and without injury. GTS is also half the price of what I was paying for a personal trainer, and they prioritize education over codependence, so you are actually investing in lifelong knowledge that you can take with you to any gym. Bottom line, as a fat kid who hated exercise, I never thought I would look forward to my gym sessions this much!

I came for the open gym and stay for the community. We have a handful people who lift at relatively the same time. Some of us compete in powerlifting some don’t. It doesn’t matter we come to lift and talk about programming and improving. It’s a great place. Also, you can’t miss a squat with Arnold watching. Hit 425x2 in that rack.

Truly felt Jason rebuilt my lifts from the ground up during the strength assessment. Been lifting for a while but got serious about Powerlifting a year and a half ago. It was refreshing to work with someone who prioritized longevity and actively sought to humble me and not to put number first. I ended up not going for the private coaching. Not because it wasn't worth it.. it 100% is but just because of my own personal budgeting. I still opted for a gym membership and it's an ideal place to exercise. All the raw strength training sans ego and bro mirror selfie culture. Jason, his team, and all the athletes who workout there have been nothing but kind, inviting, professional, and encouraging. I would highly recommend this place and push everyone to at the very least do the strength assessment.

Super awesome place to train and get real hands on and attentive advice on how to improve your lifts. I only did the intro week for $99 but it was well worth it. I got to see where some of my problem habits are and how simple maneuvers can adjust those to help me perform better. The guys, Jason and Denis, are super attentive and helpful. The space is two fold - one room with rigs, the other with more equipment. They have tons of weights and machines, so you definitely won't find yourself without anything to do. I trained with GTS for almost three years and can't speak highly enough about the experience. The organization is well suited for beginners looking for a new way to get in shape, experienced powerlifters, and all points in between. I would consider myself an intermediate lifter with a tendency to get bored with monotonous workouts but Jason did a great job at coming up with creative programming to keep me interested and coming back for more. The gym atmosphere is great. Very encouraging and inclusive to new people while at the same time not overwhelming or in your face for times when you just want to put in headphones and focus on your own workout. Best of both worlds all around.

BONUS: The equipment is all top of the line and even at it's most busy you'll almost never need to wait for a squat rack or bench press!

Great experience in every respect!

In exploring gyms for my 14yo son, I was neurotic about ensuring he would learn proper technique and receive coaching tailored to him as a young athlete. After six months, I realize we could not have made a better decision than GTS.

Jason (the owner) has established a great environment for athletes of all ages to thrive. Each coach demonstrates high levels of expertise, emphasizes technique above all else and makes my son feel extremely welcome.

Since joining GTS, my son has made exponential gains in strength. This has translated into better performance in basketball and baseball. While he gained about 12 lbs in muscle, his vertical also went up 3 inches.

Finally, there is always a financial element. Going to a non-commercial gym, I was concerned that it could be cost-prohibitive for the long term. To my surprise and delight, the value is outstanding!

I'd say from my experience everything has been top. I came to GTS with a problem and they presented a solution. In terms of pricing, its world class power lifting training with athletes who are proven and committed to the sport and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it's a steal, no matter how you look at it. If that doesn't convince you, get in shape, make more money, keep more money. I think the one downside is the Sunday hours. I have been able to organize my schedule with the remote programming so that I can pay the guys a visit when it counts the most. I'd imagine I'll be coming down more as I prepare for Monger's(first competition in Nov of 2019), which is not a problem at all. I've been bulking up and people have been paying complements on my body transformation. I was 200 lbs in Jan, I weigh 210 today most of which is muscle mass. My squat was 315 lbs when I came in, now I'm hitting 360 lbs. 80 percent of the work comes from the commitment to want the change, 20 percent is technical, and GTS offers so much more than that 20 percent. GTS has opened up a door to life transformation for me, what was once a hobby and a way to stay in moderate shape has become a lifestyle and passion, thanks to Jason, Nick, Dennis, and Phil.

I initially started going to GTS after about a year of regular gym time. It was the first time in my life that I made a point of going to the gym consistently, and I had plateaued. I went to Jason to break past my boundaries, start making goals, and learn how to best see results through proper form and nutrition. Looking back, I can't imagine what my life would be like had I not chosen to learn from Jason and the GTS coaches.

The training focuses primarily on form and technique, but Jason and the crew place a huge emphasis on appropriate nutrition and recovery as well. I didn't know much about macros, calories, or meal prepping before training with GTS, but since then, I have become a far more informed and, subsequently, more effective lifter.

Beyond that, I've met some really awesome people there, and everyone is tremendously supportive. I'm taking a break for a few months to heal up from some preexisting (unrelated) injuries, but I can't wait to start training under the GTS banner again. If you're looking to skip past the snake oil salesmen, supplement jockeys, tough guys/gals, roid rage, creepy staring, and all the other BS closely associated with big name gyms, GTS is the place to be.

Have faith in the program, and put in work.

They understand that everyone's body is built differently and they cater the workouts to fit your goals. I literally told them "I just want to look good" and they've taken it from there. I'm not going to say that I'm a svelte super model now nor am I a hulky woman. But I am fit and happy with my progress. Original Review 12/2017:

Gametime Strength is the real deal. I attended a barbell workshop and learned so much in just a few hours. Jason is an excellent coach and I’m looking forward to working with him more. If you’re on the fence check out one of the workshops- you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended!

——————————————-
UPDATE: 9/18/18

In less than a year, Jason Kelske and Gametime Strength have helped me dramatically increase my strength and improve my body composition. The difference from when I first started is huge! Not only is Jason an accomplished power lifter, he’s a very knowledgeable coach whose nutritional and training advice will help you level up if you’re motivated and follow the program in AND out of the gym. He’s always looking for new ways to engage with his clients and improve their experience - something many so called “coaches” fail to do. The level of attention he gives each client is unmatched - whether you’re coming in with a 600lb or 50lb deadlift you are given the same amount of care and respect... there are none of the bad vibes that you often experience with “trainers” and commercial gyms. If you’re looking to get stronger, look better, or just feel better about yourself I can’t recommend Gametime Strength highly enough. Strength = Confidence and this impacts every aspect of life, from professional to personal. Working with Jason has inspired me to learn the ropes of coaching and at almost 40 years old make a career change in hopes that I can have the same positive impact on others that he’s had on me.

There is no way I could fit all that GTS has meant to me and done for me into one small review, but I'll try. This isn't your "normal" gym; this gym is full of dedicated and knowledgeable trainers, great equipment and even greater community. The amount of attention that Jason, Dennis and Jason give to each client is really remarkable. They will walk you through each workout in the beginning, offer refreshers once you've learned the basic movements, and then provide support and tips for going places you never thought your body could handle. In my five years with GTS, I've lost a total of 75 lbs., deadlifted 363 lbs. at an actual competition (ask me if I ever thought I'd do that!), and made so many new friends. Wherever you are in your training--from complete novice all the way to experienced lifter--GTS will meet you there and take you to new places. Cannot recommend Jason and Co. highly enough.

Absolutely one of the best training programs I've ever done, and I've tried multiple trainers at chain locations like 24 Hour Fitness. Chain gym trainers would always listen to the fact I wanted to get stronger and learn to lift, but would then inform me that's not what I actually wanted as a woman and proceed to give me incredibly low weight high rep routines.

The trainers at GTS treat you like family, listen to what your actual goals are, and push you to be the best you can be. I wouldn't go anywhere else for training, and highly recommend it to anyone who genuinely wants to get stronger.

To all ladies 50+: If you think you have no more chance to build a healthy and strong body without any joint and lower back pain, you are absolutely wrong. Come and check GTS. Jason Kelske is running this facility. There are two other fantastic coaches Dennise and Jkhan along with himself providing all what you need to get trained to build a strong body as a life style. He actually designs a program that is special to your need. I joined them about 6 months ago, complaining of lower back & knee pain and not having enough energy. My justification was I am working long hours behind my computer, always in traffic, taking care of family and no time for myself. I listened to my friend’s son (21 years old) recommendation to go to GTS. Jason suggested I start with 3 times a week 6 to 7-7:30 AM before I go to work. I committed myself for 2 months at the beginning then 6 months and now for life. The results were unbelievable. Pain actually disappeared the first month, I lost weight. I have more energy and focused at work. I go back to my hiking routine and trips. What really made all that happened was the coaches, the training program just for me and a very, very friendly and supportive environment. You can see all walks of life participate in GTS. There is a great sense of belonging, friendship, support and respect in GTS that have me continue going there with joy.

When I first walked into Game Time Strength 5 months ago, Dennis asked how I found out about them. I said,"Your Yelp game is strong." And now I know exactly why GTS has all 5 star reviews.

I came into GTS with a basic knowledge of weightlifting, after having fought the strength training route for a long time. Classic girl, I was worried about getting "bulky" and intimidated by the weight room. So I stuck to BodyPump and cardio classes at 24 Hour. And guess what, I did not see results. I finally got over my fear of the weight room and starting training free weights on my own, but I kept re-injuring my lower back and wasn't making much progress on my lifts. Since starting at GTS my back pain has significantly improved, and I've gained strength while dropping 10 pounds.

The GTS team is truly amazing. Jason makes himself and his wealth of knowledge available anytime you need him. He listens to my goals and plans my routine around my lower back injury. He is constantly checking in with me, making sure my back is doing ok and that I'm staying on track with my nutrition. J Kahn is highly engaged, he looks out for me, critiquing my form, stepping in when I look confused. He is a stickler about form and spends the time to make sure your form is as close to perfect as possible. Dennis has a knack for finding a way to explain form and technique so that it makes sense for whoever is learning. He always has new stretches and ways to work out your injuries.

The atmosphere at GTS is welcoming and there is a great sense of camaraderie. I never feel out of place or intimidated; everyone looks out for each other and is willing to give advice and answer questions. I am inspired to try harder every workout because I am in an environment where no one is phoning it in and everyone is dedicated to their fitness goals.

Being held accountable for my workout and nutrition, and knowing that Jay and team are keeping an eye on me, is the best motivation I could ask for. It is completely worth the half hour drive I make each way to get to GTS. I have never been a consistent gym goer until I started going to GTS. I actually look forward to my workout knowing that Jay and the crew are expecting me to be there putting in the work. I leave feeling better than when I came in (minus suicide sprint days...).

I highly recommend GTS for anyone with any sort of fitness goals. Just go ahead and get rid of your 24 Hr Fitness membership right now. You will not find a better and more knowledgeable group of people.
