I started coming here after my second discectomy because I needed to build some muscle. I knew it was the right place right away (I was greeted by Dave—one of the gym dogs) and surrounded by people of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds who were working to feel strong and healthy.

Almost a year later, I can see real progress and feel totally supported by the coaches (and all those working out.) The coaches know what they’re doing, they meet you where you are, and they make it easy to show up and keep going.

I've been going to this gym for two years now and cannot recommend it enough. If you value your time and want to be able to work out with minimal distractions and crowds, GTS should be high on your list of gyms to join. Here are some highlights that I've experiences that make GTS so great:

1. CLEAN AND ORGANIZED!
2. Never any rush meaning I rarely have to wait for equipment.
3. Flexible hours. The gym is accessible 24 hours so I can go workout based on my schedule.
4. A sense of community since you see the same members who are always willing to offer advice or a random spot at the bench press.

GTS offers a boutique gym-going experience that solved many of the complaints I had with other gyms like Equinox and LA Fitness. I highly recommend checking out one of the multiple GTS locations and reaching out to Jason or Kelly for more information.

Been going to this gym for over four years. It’s fantastic. Has every workout equipment you need and always kept immaculately clean. Jason and the rest of the coaching staff are great. Absolutely love this gym! It’s convenient, easy to access, and never busy. With so many machines and weight racks and locations available, working out is very efficient and productive. I have been training at GTS since March. I train here once a week to augment my martial arts training (BJJ, boxing). My boyfriend has been training here for years and loves it. I've seen the results of his hard work over the years - he credits it to the great programming that Jason and the team built for him. My boyfriend always tells me about how he enjoys the camaraderie with the other clients and staff, which made this place less intimidating for me when I was considering my strength training options. I think his five star review is probably somewhere on Google for this place 😂

Jason and his merry crew have helped me get stronger and more confident in my capabilities. Jason was able to help me get the biggest bang for my buck since I can only get in one day a week, but I know that if you're looking for a spot to train more days a week this is also the place.

I've only been to the Westchester location but they've got many locations to meet your lovely LA commute reduction needs!

Went to GTS LA branch this morning for my Hyrox training. Nice branch with a good set of equipment. The sight of power racks nicely lined up is so beautiful. Love their sled and turf. I needed it for my training! The body doesn’t know if the training is done here in LA, in Singapore or in Penang. A sled is sled, the body either push it or pull. Just get it done!

Love this gym! I’ve been using the West Hester location as well as the El Segundo gym. Both anre fantastic.
Almost through my first month and already my favorite of all gyms I’ve ever had a membership at. So easy to get on any equipment I need, so no waiting. The coaches/staff have been super helpful and are easy to get a hold of with any questions.
I love the self service system…book a workout time slot online, let yourself in and work out! Incredible.

This gym is amazing (a lot of equipment to choose from). The owners are super responsive when it comes to any issues and to top it off, they are extremely compassionate and flexible. They have been accommodating and I cannot appreciate it enough. The gym is never full so I feel like I get the privacy I need to work out. The area it is in is also full of culture and safe to be around. This has been an amazing gym especially since it's been my "first" starter gym since college.

I have been using this gym for probably 6 months before writing a review. The best gym I have ever been to in LA. Super clean, new equipment, no waiting for equipment. I didn’t know it’s possible in LA. Price to quality is amazing. They have different price options based on how often you need to use the facility. The owner is very nice. I wish they had chest fly machine but it’s just me and there are tons of other equipment including cable machines.

Hands down one of the best gyms I've been too. All coaches here really focus on you perfecting your form for every workout you do. I have been going to the gym without proper training for years! I've already started seeing results both physically and mentally. They seriously made going to the gym a satisfying and fun experience.

Fantastic gym! A breath of fresh air after working out in big box gyms like LA Fitness. The space itself isn't massive but they have power racks, deadlift platforms, proper barbells, and a great vibe. The coaches/trainers are all extremely helpful and give great advice for both beginners and advanced lifters. They genuinely want to see you succeed and achieve your goals.

I used to lift quite a bit when I was younger but have fallen off after college so I opted to do the 3-day barbell masterclass. The first day absolutely destroyed me in a good way. We went over mobility, form, and some nutrition and programming.

I then chose to get the open gym session plan with 10 sessions per month. You can reserve a day/time in advance to make sure you're not waiting when you get there. And the gyms are accessible 24/7. To me, that's an immediate winner regardless of the price!

Unfortunately the commute for me is quite far even in the early morning so I had to cancel my membership. Thought I could make it work but sadly not. Even then, Jason was super understanding even though I was past the 15-day notice period for cancelling renewals. He extended the expiration for my remaining sessions, too. So you can add great customer service as a leg up over typical commercial gyms as well!

Bottom line: definitely check out this gym (and the rest of the GTS gyms) - they're worth every penny!

the best gym in los angeles. i've been working on various lifts with jason, jared, and dennis and they're all great coaches. tons of knowledge about the body and how to optimally use it during the lifts. they've also given me a ton of great mental cues, stuff to focus on during the various lifts. they've provided a ton of help and guidance with programming as well. as someone who is just getting back into serious strength training after years of sitting on my butt, i don't think my progress would be anywhere near what it's been without these guys and this awesome gym. can't recommend game time strength highly enough - check it out!

I've been a member at GTS for a little over a year. I had no previous lifting experience prior to joining GTS. I have received what I consider to be truly world-class instruction. GTS emphasizes form and safety. I am 44 years old with a history of lower back and nerve pain. Not only have I not experienced a single injury in my time training at GTS, my chronic injury symptoms have significantly decreased. While the health benefits and training as incredible, what has kept me coming is the truly supportive and diverse community that GTS cultivates. People are friendly, equipment is maintained, and the gym is always spotless. If you are considering investing in yourself, this is the place. My highest recommendation.

Overall: The best gym. Very good price given what you get. Their session cancellation and unused pass policy is very generous. All of the instructors are top notch and very nice people. No gym bros here. As a female, I really appreciate the friendly but focused atmosphere.

Master Classes: Excellent. They will teach you proper form to get the max strength out of you while preventing injury. If you have a past injury, they will show you tips to still be able to train (I had an injury from before I started going to this gym).

Atmosphere/occupancy: Also excellent. I've never had to wait for any squat racks ever. There have been times when I'm the only one in the gym, especially early in the morning. They have a good mix of machines and I've always been able to make it work what they have. Everyone is very courteous. If there's any equipment that's malfunctioning I just have to send a text to the owners and they address it right away.

Had experience here and at the El Segundo location while visiting from out of town. Gym was highly communicative and accommodating and worked with me to fit my needs. This particular location is a bit larger than El Segundo and is heavily focused on power racks. Great for deadlifts/squats, lots of options to customize the amount of weight or the style of lift. As a visitor, I didn't have to worry about lacking my usual gear. They'll have what you need. Can't wait to come back.

Showed up for the 3-day barbell training camp and can't say enough. I've been working out for ~6-7 years and coming in here has completely changed my relationship with squat and deadlift. GTS is a small, local gym with several locations around the South Bay area. The locations themselves may seem small, but they are packed to the brim with squat racks, barbells, and deadlifting platforms so you are never waiting for a workout. In addition, there is a consistent crowd of regulars so you tend to see the same people and it feels like a community. A membership is expensive compared to chain gyms but it is worth it for the easy access to equipment, 24 hour access, and supporting a local business!

I had been eyeing this gym and their program for years and finally started with their three day program you can schedule on different days. They teach functional strength for longevity, and proper form and alignment. As an athlete and dancer, I have had several injuries that I needed advice about. I wanted to ensure that as I got seriously into weight training, that I was “doing it right” from the beginning with good habits to prevent injury. Each person in my training sessions has listened, and helped me modify, or make adjustments. The personal attention has helped me understand exactly where to grab the bar, have my elbows, how much to bend my knees or hinge, etc. Everyone is incredibly knowledgeable and I trust their advice.

If you’re thinking about weight training, or have already been doing it and want real feedback about perfect form, this is your place!

I have always felt intimidated by weight lifting. I didn’t know how to the use the equipment and so I’ve spent most of my life actively avoiding the gym. GTS’ training class and coaching program has helped this beginner feel comfortable working out in a gym setting. Just finished my three day barbell course with this organization and very happy with the results.

For context, I am an absolute beginner to strength training (have never done squats, bench press, etc). Recently had a shoulder reconstruction and decided to try doing something to push myself and I’m glad I came here. Highly recommend their barbell course for beginners like me. They have three locations- El Segundo, North Redondo, and Westchester.

All the coaches were very chill and patient with me and best of all, zero pushy sales tactics like other gyms. I’m still debating whether this format will work with my professional schedule, as I work on the east coast 50% of the month, but am very much considering signing up. They have flexible plans for commuters who can’t make it in every week, which is great.

Overall, give them a try and support a local business run by a great guy.

Fantastic gym with more than enough equipment. If you’re used to seeing rows and rows of cardio equipment and a tiny area for actually lifting weights, well this isn’t that kind of gym. There are more power racks than cardio machines. For my goals, this is perfect, and it was a huge relief to get away from those big box gyms, and focus on actual muscle building. And trust me, this place is incredibly motivating for that. It really feels like a personal gym. I rarely see even 1 person when I’m there. It’s also 24 hours, so you can get your workout in on your schedule. If you’re serious about getting stronger, bigger, etc. come here.

I just moved (back) to L.A. after spending most of my adult life in NorCal, where I picked up weightlifting in earnest around 2019. As my fitness journey has evolved and I've gotten older, I've been focusing more and more on powerlifting because I love moving big weight (safely) and I enjoy the problem-solving, body awareness, and mental focus required to make that happen. However, despite several years of dedicated lifting, new gyms still make me anxious because they've tended to be intimidating spaces for me and I don't always feel at home in them.

At GTS, I felt at home on day one. Jason and his coaches, including Phil, Kelly, Jared, and Ester, have been--to a person--warm, welcoming, and thoughtful in their training and nutrition advice. I also love how dedicated everyone in the gym seems to be. When I've been coming in, I feel not only that I've got a community of support, but I also get hyped from being surrounded by people who are hard-working and who share my values and similar goals in training. The equipment and space are clean and top-notch, exactly what you want out of a powerlifting gym.

Also, Dave is there. He's a dog. He's very supportive as well.

As for some practical details: I started at GTS with a 3-day (non-consecutive) training camp where we significantly dialed back my weight and focused on technique for the big lifts, starting with squats then moving on to push movements (bench + OHP) and deadlifts (and related variations such as RDLs). It was validating of the work I've already put into those lifts, but needless to say I had room for improvement and I immediately noticed how much stronger and stabler I felt on those lifts when I was done. I had such a great experience with the camp that I decided to sign up for a program that is a mix of coaching and, if I choose, a few days of open gym time per month, and includes continued programming and advice. I've kept my other membership at Venice Gold's and will perform some of my workouts there, reserving the more "technical" days on the program for when I come into GTS. Honestly if I lived about 5-10 minutes closer to GTS Westchester, I would just switch my gym membership over entirely, but I'm very close to Gold's and so this mix is working for me for now.

I learned how to properly use free weights and barbels through the coaching classes and then continued on with the open gym membership. I love the open gym membership because you can access the gym at most hours of the day and can fully expect no wait times when it comes to the equipment.

All of the coaches are extremely helpful, attentive, and informed when it comes to health/wellness. There is also a sense of belonging making it a great workout atmosphere.

Just what I was looking for in a weight training gym. While only being marginally pricier than some of the big box gyms, GTS has far better equipment and is never crowded.

Jason and the rest of the GTS coaches are great if you're looking for that kind of thing. After not lifting for 2 years during the pandemic, they were able to help me get my form and lifting confidence back.

The flexibility of the scheduling system is great for my schedule. I rarely have any difficulty getting in for a time slot last minute and usually only schedule 30 min in advance.

I love this place. It feels like a small-town home gym. The equipment is well-maintained. They have everything you could possibly want for lifting and building strength. The atmosphere is positive. The coaches are all great & help as much or as little as you need. You can also reserve open gym time if you don't need help from a coach. I’ve done the mega gyms (LA Fitness/ 24), the cross fit gyms, and even my own basic home gym, but nothing compares to GTS. Jason has put together an fun environment, with quality equipment, and purposed programming that gives people real results. I came in as primarily a runner wanting to challenge myself in new ways, building strength. Jason’s program got me comfortable completing squats, deadlifts, presses, etc. - building weight and realizing new strength. There’s nothing else out there like GTS that I’ve found.

Best gym I’ve ever been to! To say you are getting your money’s worth, is an understatement. I am grateful everyday to have found this gym. Jason and his team of coaches (shout out to Kelly, Saul, Dennis, & Phil!) are experts in their craft; not to mention, they always greet you with kindness and acceptance. Every coach is capable of catering to your needs, while giving you the high intensity challenge you need every time you exercise to get results.

No matter what time of day you present to the gym (even during the typical rush hour time after work) there’s only a handful of other people present, including coaches. In a post pandemic world, this comfort is even more priceless.

Workout equipment is advanced enough for all levels, and as I mentioned above, you have the benefit of frequent access since the volume of people present at the same time as you is low.

My personal fitness has sky rocketed since joining. With such great coaches, their accommodations progress at the same pace as your goals and capabilities advance. They truly put most of the work in for you by creating your workouts and pushing you as needed. All I have to do is show up.

For the quality of the personal training environment you are actually receiving, the prices are quite reasonable.

My only concern is that I will not be able to adapt to any other type of gym atmosphere after feeling so spoiled here.

I've been a member of GTS since January of 2020. No exaggeration when I say, the way I work out has changed forever. Coming from cardio and boring self planned workouts for the past 12 years, I've finally found a fun way to workout.

Jason and all the coaches have taught me the fundamentals to lifting so that I don't hurt myself. The environment is friendly and non intimidating! Everyone is really funny and inviting.

I have learned to squat, bench press and deadlift. Things I didn't know how to do before.

We have access to open gym with reservation, remote training and coaching hours. It's great to know I can always get help cleaning up my form.

If you're considering learning to lift and workout in a new way, I highly suggest coming here. You won't regret it!

Living in East LA, it's hard to find a quality black iron gym that has enough equipment, good supporting staff, and has an atmosphere that is not overly intimidating to newcomers. It's never too crowded and I don't have to wait an inordinate amount of time to get a squat rack, something that is very important considering that I get my workouts in before going to work. In addition to having all the right equipment to facilitate actual strength training, the owner/staff are very friendly and helpful if you're not sure what to do and you're new to strength training. The client base and culture at Game Time Strength is also great, with the gym being welcoming to people of all walks of life. I've made numerous friends in the years that I've been a client, and the gym has become a small community that I am proud to be a member of. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better black iron gym!

I came to GTS with 3 herniated discs and chronic back pain. I had tried other gyms and had tried working with trainers because I was nervous about getting back into working out. Trainers at other gyms had not made much effort to modify my exercise routine to suit my limitations. I finally decided to try out GTS and coming here has been so helpful. Jason and the other trainers have worked with me to strengthen my core and get me to a point where I can lift without getting injured. A few years ago I was told by my doctors not to lift anything over 20 pounds. I am now able to safely deadlift 250+ pounds and have been continuing to improve. Even on days when I have flare ups and feel like I can't do anything due to my back pain, Jason gives me a modified day with stretches and very light exercises to help my body recover so I can get back to my training routine as quickly as possible. Coming here has been a very good investment because as I've been getting stronger I have had fewer bad days with my back pain and have been able to do many more activities I enjoy that I didn't think I'd be able to do anymore. Even during the lockdown when I didn't feel motivated to work out Jason would call to check in on me and help get me back into an exercise routine that I could do with my limited equipment at home. With his help even without access to a gym I was able to improve and by the time the gym reopened my strength had actually increased. My entire experience here has been very personalized to meet my exact needs and limitations and the trainers continue to give me advice on how to further improve my form and get to the results I desire.

If I could give Jason and his team 10 stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you've found this page, you're already at least wondering about a real journey towards fitness and maybe even a lifestyle change. You've found it! This reviewer is begging you - at least call him. As others have written, it might change your life.

If I could emphasize anything, it is that the GTS team will indeed work your body and thus also your mental toughness - but it will somehow *not* feel stressful to you. It will feel fun, and invigorating. We all know that feeling of dreading the gym, but Jason and the team are so personally involved and encouraging that you will absolutely not feel alone, even on the hardest lifts.

Furthermore, you get the sense that Jason is a real scientist. He is not only extremely knowledgeable and quick to answer any question, but he *listens* to you. Jason (and the whole staff) are totally present and it is clear that they absolutely care about your progress, safety, and comfort.

If you are too concerned that "you can't squat because of [insert something like your knees]" or "you aren't ready for this kind of thing, you should just lose weight first and then think about strength" -- again, I beg you to reconsider. Trust in Master Jason to tailor your training to your unique starting point, whatever that may be, and to get you strong from there. You won't regret it.

I have been lifting for a long time but this place gave me the confidence, guidance, and encouragement to go to the next level. The coaches show genuine interest in my goals and have helped me reach numbers I was always scared of.
