I came in knowing almost nothing about fitness, and the coaches here changed that completely. They guide you through everything—workouts + proper form—so you’re never left guessing or risking injury. At first I was intimidated, but the community is so welcoming, it's more than a gym. Works for all levels—beginner to expert—and you get 10x back for the effort you put in.

I’ve been training here for my mountain races and ultra marathons since late 2020, JP and his team bring a huge wealth of experience in multi-discipline sports and weightlifting, and the vibe of the community at Ganbatte is incredible. Can’t beat it!

I joined Ganbatte two years ago when I was in the worst shape of my life - overweight, not eating correctly and lethargic, but with the *idea* that I wanted to become a better version of myself.
I took an intro course with Nile (a literal queen) and now I’m PRing my lifts, cut over 20min from my half marathon time and did my first Hyrox, placing in the top 11 percent of my age group.
I fully credit the coaches - especially JP and Eric - for pushing me to not only train hard, but learn my body and how to fuel it, rest it, and take better care of it.
More than just a place to work out, it’s become a true community of friends who are consistently encouraging you to be better.
Highly recommend for anyone, from beginner to seasoned athlete.

This is an incredible training environment that I can't recommend highly enough. It's a judgement free, ego-less space that is designed to push you to your limits and motivate you in ways you never thought possible. The owner JP and his team are incredibly kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

Dropped in for a weekend of classes with JP and the Ganbatte crew. Tl:dr; if you want to work hard and improve your overall fitness, hit up Ganbatte for the best programming and athletic community the eastside has to offer.
Pros:
- Challenging yet scalable weekly programming for a broad range of fitness goals: strength, endurance, metcon, weightlifting etc. If you’re training for Hyrox or another fitness competition, this is where you want to be.
- I worked with JP for Hyrox training and Eric for strength. Both coaches intro’d themselves, assessed my fitness background, checked if I had any injuries, and asked about goals. Immediately it felt like I was in good capable hands and prepped to get to work. Coaching was well organized, well described, and full of helpful but not overbearing cues and encouragement during the workouts.
- Well organized facility with ample floor and rack space, well maintained and cared for equipment (big thumbs up for Eleiko bumpers + barbells), water filtration, and a vending machine with recovery products.
- best of all: a hard working, kind, and fun community atmosphere where everyone is pushing each other to do their best. This was my first time here and people took the time to learn my name and then use it to cheer me on through a 60+ min Hyrox specific workout. Hard not to push yourself in that environment.
Cons:
- I don’t live in LA and can’t make this place my regular gym!
If you live near Ganbatte and are interested in building your fitness or broaching the world of fitness competition, this is the place to be. Shouts out to BG, You-niss, & JP.

If you're looking for a top-notch gym that provides a challenging and energizing workout, in a fun and inspiring atmosphere, then look no further than Ganbatte Fitness. Owner and coach, JP, sets the tone with his welcoming energy and positive attitude. The certified coaches at Ganbatte Fitness really know their stuff, and are experts at making your workouts feel less like a chore and more like a fun, rewarding experience. The sense of community is strong, where members of all fitness levels, support and cheer each other on, creating an atmosphere that’s motivating, as well as inclusive. Additionally, a large variety of classes are available, making it easy for you to tailor your workouts to achieve your fitness goals. Ganbatte Fitness is the place to be and I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Ganbatte Fitness is a really special place and will certainly become your new favorite gym if you give it a try. It's an environment that welcomes you as you are and inspires you to unlock your full fitness potential, whatever that means to you (and if you're unsure, then Ganbatte will help you figure it out). I was a CrossFit newbie and skeptic when I started in 2020 but I'm a full convert now because of my time here. If the intensity of CrossFit workouts is intimidating to you, rest assured you'll have the greatest support system possible. I have to shoutout all the coaches (JP, Nile, Eric, Mike, Michael, Caroline, Fernando, Vee) for just how personable, knowledgeable, and attentive they've been over the years. I'm sad to be leaving (moving out of state) because I know I'm unlikely to find a gym as great as this one again.

Ganbatte is a Japanese expression meaning "do your best." It's a mantra that is embodied by this welcoming and chill gym. There are multiple programming options, whether you're into general physical preparedness, strength, and/or endurance. The coaches are excellent, providing a safe environment that meets everyone where they are. The membership is friendly, the facility is spacious, and the amount of communication is just right. Ganbatte is not just a gym, it's a community. JP, the owner, has created a welcoming, comfortable place to come together, workout together, get stronger together. All the coaches are friendly, knowledgable, and caring. They give important feedback and cues, and make the classes fun. The members are kind and supportive of each other. It's a place that you truly look forward to going to every day. I was a member for over three years, and only left because I moved out of state. After trying out a few other types of gyms, I joined Ganbatte because I wanted to commit to getting stronger and fitter. The coaches are incredible and really excel at encouraging you to push past your limits while being equally good at giving you a heads up when you need to pull back and concentrate on your form. Their passion and knowledge about what they do allows them to provide individualized goals and guidance for everyone in their classes. As terrible as I was at everything when I started, the programming and coaching is so well designed that all I had to do was show up, listen to the coaches, and put in effort to see huge gains in both strength and endurance. A great and unexpected bonus is the awesome community atmosphere in the gym. Everyone from coaches to members is friendly and welcoming. I'd highly recommend joining Ganbatte to anyone interested in upgrading their fitness level!

If you’ve ever wanted to try CrossFit or are new to working out, then Ganbatte Fitness is the place! From the start, the staff and other gym members were warm and inviting. The coaches are all knowledgeable and have a vested interest in making sure your training is optimal and that you’re getting the best workout. One coach in particular is truly an expert in her craft. Not only does she take the time to make sure your forms are correct, but she also invests in your training through supplemental materials and follow ups. And who could that be other than Nile Franklin? Nile is able to explain the movements you’re doing and make the adjustments necessary to ensure proper training and injury avoidance. She really does have a vested interest in improving your athletic performance while making sure you have a fun time during each workout. We can’t recommend her enough!
Ganbatte Fitness is an exceptional place to train; whether you’re a lifetime athlete or someone who’s just dipping their toe into the CrossFit world. We can’t recommend this gym enough!

This was my first CrossFit ever and the best I have seen! Trainers are amazing and I have never felt alone! It's truly one big family, everyone who goes to the place are so much friendly and the trainers are one of the best in town! Such knowledge on anything we ask for, let it be workout, diet, strength training, and what not we will get answers and support from them! An amazing place to workout, maintained very clean and always there's a spot for everyone... Communication is on point every week about the training and they look after each and everyone during the classes...
Too bad I have to move out of town but would definitely miss this place!

This is the best gym ever! I started working out here after just having arrived in the country and the atmosphere was so encouraging that it not only helped me get into shape but it also helped me to adapt to the life here in general because I was having such a good time during each class.
The classes are always something to look forward to, everyone there is so kind and welcoming. The main coach JP is extremely warm hearted and all the coaches are super motivating and encouraging. I found Ganbatte on Yelp in late 2018 and worked out there for a couple of months which I ended up cancelling due to my crazy travel schedule.
But to echo the other reviews, the place is great, the instructors are awesome and friendly. I'm on the overweight side of the spectrum and the instructors are always super helpful to adjust the exercise for you to be able to at least complete. That way you get the sense of incremental progress and achievement rather than feeling that you can't do any of those crazy looking moves/reps.
I tried a bunch of other gyms before but the difference I felt with Ganbatte was that the workout sessions are actually enjoyable which helps being able to go there more consistently. I'm a huge fan and I'm looking forward to restart my membership as soon as my travel schedule gets back to normal (excuses, excuses, excuses, I know :)).

Ganbatte has really changed me. As a tall, skinny nerd, I've always been too self-concious to stick to any kind of routine. Every other gym I've gone to hasn't made me feel welcome or invested in my improvement, but Ganbatte is different.
I've run the gamut of the Ganbatte offerings: I started in December 2017 with their bootcamp, which got me hooked. It inspired me to start doing Spartan races (I've done 2 this year, and am signed up for more), and showed me that I can measurably improve and become more fit. Next, I did their 6 Week Challenge, which was a great way to ease in to Crossfit movements. Having just finished that recently, I'm now signed on to continue as a Crossfitter.
I've felt that all of the trainers at Ganbatte have cared about me since Day 1, and I always look forward to taking a class there. Some people remember their first runner's high, or the feeling of winning their first competition. Ganbatte has given me a new feeling I'll be forever thankful for: positive self-esteem.

As a runner and (sometimes) triathlete, I was looking to incorporate more strength and cross training into my workouts and asked for some recommendations. Fellow endurance athletes all pointed me to Crossfit Ganbatte. My top two requirements were coaches that understand the needs of an endurance athlete and coaches that emphasize good form and safety over all else. Less important (but also kinda important) is an environment that isn't super "bro-y" (you know what I'm talking about). Crossfit Ganbatte checked all those off. Owner and coach JP is an Ironman and Boston qualifier and leads a weekly track workout. Coach Pheby is also a marathoner and leads weekly runs. Coach JP also works in the medical field, so his priority with all the coaches is to ensure everyone stays healthy and injury-free while getting an intense workout in. All the coaches break down movements in every class, even if everyone there knows what they're doing. The people are very friendly and encouraging, so the environment isn't intimidating. I'd recommend Ganbatte to anyone looking to try out Crossfit for the first time, as it's been a very positive experience for me.
Other things I like that are worth mentioning:
- They post all the workouts online the day before.
- They're all very active on the athletes' community page, posting photos and videos of our results and workouts (you can check your form!).
- There are lots of classes, so it allows me to be flexible with my schedule.
- DOGGIES! A few of the coaches and members sometimes bring their furry friends to hang out.
- Parking is readily available.
TIP: The building isn't very easy to find and there are several parking lot entrances close together that can make it confusing to figure out which one to enter. There is a large sandwich board-style sign out front with the Crossfit Ganbatte logo, so look for that. Once you pull into the parking lot, just keep going all the way through the alley to the back to reach building 4. Ganbatte is on your right.

I honestly don’t even know where to start. I can’t say enough good things about Crossfit Ganbatte (the box/gym, the coaches, the owner, etc.). I had been hesitant to start Crossfit after hearing all of the horror stories (not the norm stories) about Crossfit. It wasn’t until my yoga teacher, who was super anti-Crossfit and put a heavy emphasis on form and technique, started coming to train at Crossfit Ganbatte that I decided to try it out. They are very accommodating in working around your schedule to set up your 2 intro classes which I would probably recommend for anyone new trying to join because, even if you have previous experience, it gives the instructor a gauge on where you are in your form and your technique. They have a great schedule with classes spread out throughout the day and their membership packages are very reasonable. All the coaches are super welcoming and so are the members. You have members at all the various fitness levels and I have never felt uncomfortable or meant to feel inferior because of where I am at in my fitness journey. It very much so feels like a family. The equipment is top notch. They also have a shower for anyone who needs to go to work or other events after class. They have some of the support/accessories you may need such as belts available for use and have others such as wrist wraps available at a very reasonable cost. The coaches are always willing to lend advice on what shoes to buy, supplements to take, jump ropes/other equipment, etc. I have only been going for a month and I am already hooked. And if my review hasn’t already persuaded you to try this place out, Just know I personally drive all the way from Sherman Oaks to here then go to work in Beverly Hills after the 6:45 AM class 3 days a week when I have many other box/gym options along the way.

I'm new to CrossFit and on my second month. As a fat person, going to a gym can be scary, but CrossFit Ganbatte is very welcoming and supportive. There isn't any body-shaming and the members are nice and friendly.
When I walked into classes with coaches I hadn't met before, they were already prepped with my info, knew to expect me, and they were prepared to give me extra help since I'm new. The coaches are very focused on ensuring we have proper form and doing the movements safely.
Even though I'm a fat CrossFitter who can't do pull ups or handstand push ups, I'm still able to work on those skills since the coaches are great at teaching and scaling things to my level. When I'm struggling to finish a round, my super fit classmates (who already finished the WOD ages ago) will run with me to help. Even though I'm struggling and the slowest, I still feel like I'm kicking ass. The workouts are tough, but worth the work. I thought I hated exercise, but I look forward to going every day.
There are other boxes closer to my house, but Ganbatte is the best choice. In addition to having great people, they have a large space. You'll have lots of room to move. There's a parking lot and tons of free street parking too! I never have trouble finding a spot. They also offer yoga taught by a yogi who does CrossFit, so the stretches are tailored to our needs. I'm so happy I found this place!

I'm ending my trial period today. This has been one of the most exhilarating gym experiences I've ever had.
I sent my email asking for info and got a response immediately from Jackie. The communication was quick and I was set to come in the next day.
My first class was early the next day with Jackie. I could tell the good vibes were deeply rooted in the community the moment I walked through the large bay door. They don't just stop with the instructors.
My first EWOD went flawlessly (as in I was there and didn't die). Jackie showed me every movement and made sure I was comfortable. She really knows her stuff. You can tell she wants everyone who walks into the gym to walk out stronger.
The second instructor I had, Pebbles, has a vibrant personality. One minute shes getting done with her own WOD and the next she is helping the rest of us get into our own. She even went further by taking me aside at the end of class and giving me extra instruction on power cleans.
Every staff member I've seen has introduced themselves with a genuine smile and positive energy. Every member of this box has had the same attitude. I can't possibly say enough about this gym. You should experience it yourself.
4/17: Back at it!
7/16: Love the Gymnastics class with Teresa! When I leave a class I have a new understanding of human body movement. Just the basics will greatly highlight weaknesses and imrove your overall fitness dramatically.

I had the pleasure of belonging to this gym for a couple years before I moved to Pasadena. It is one of the two best CrossFit gyms out there.
One key thing to know is that if you're new to fitness or crossfit, you WILL NOT be just thrown into the fire. You will start in a separate intro class, where you'll be made totally comfortable and taken care of. From there you will progress at your own pace.
The owner, JP, is one of the most caring, friendly, and motivating coaches I've ever known. He is the real deal too, he's an athlete through and through and competes in triathlons, including Ironman races. He's busy as hell but he takes the time to connect with everyone.
The coaches JP develops come from within the community, and the community is an amazing, accepting group. They are family oriented.
The name Ganbatte means "Do your best." That's a great approach to life in general.
I own my own fitness business but if I lived in the area I would still be a Ganbatte member, and I love to go back and visit.
You have nothing to lose. If you're still reading this review, you should stop RIGHT NOW and contact Ganbatte, they will give you a couple free intro classes to get started.

My home away from home! The entire Ganbatte family is always so hospitable when I drop in from the bay area. Coaching is great too! Even if it's a full class, the coaches take the time to COACH and help improve your movement, whether it's your first day crosfitting or your 700th day. You leave stronger and better than when you came in. If I ever move back to LA, Ganbatte would be my home gym.

Ganbatte is the best!!!!!! I joined Ganbatte about 9 months ago. I've been hooked since day one!
I never did Crossfit before. I was a 100% beginner. I had a membership to a regular gym, but had to drag myself there and never stayed consistent. I'd go maybe 2 times a week....and sometimes go weeks with out going at all. Ever since joining Ganbatte, I've been working out 5-6 days a week. I never have to drag myself there. Ganbatte is more than a place to workout. Its a community and has become a hobby for me. I look forward to coming everyday and improving my skills. Not only have I gotten stronger and into better shape, but I've made some amazing life long friends. You become part of the family. The people are genuine and very welcoming. Crossfit can seem intimidating, but after a couple intro classes I felt right at home ready to learn and improve. I can't say enough amazing things. I'd recommend Ganbatte to anyone of all levels that want to improve their fitness and have a great time doing so. The coaches are all very skilled, knowledgable, genuinely care, and want to help you improve and reach your goals. I'm so so thankful and happy I found Ganbatte. It's been life changing.

CrossFit Ganbatte came at a time that was perfect for me, I was ready for something new after getting tired of the typical gym and running. My hairdresser recommended it and I gave it a try, and despite being intimidated and a bit on the shy side, I plunged in and had the best experience. I am 34, an avid runner and played soccer when I was younger, I felt confident in my lower body strength but had zero upper body strength. It was hard work but because the coaches are supportive, members cheer you on, I started to discover so much more about what my body is capable of. I also reached a goal through participating in their endurance runs by training and running my first marathon!
It is much more than the workout at Ganbatte, it is a place where you will be tested and find ways to excel and go harder than you ever though regardless of age and physical fitness when joining. If you are considering CrossFit give Ganbatte a try, you will not regret it!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Crossfit Ganbatte. After previously joining another Crossfit gym in a different city and trying out a cardio barre gym, I was yet again on the lookout for a gym close to home. I joined here, and was completely blown away. Not only did they put the other Crossfit gym to shame, they weren't even trying to! Seriously some of the friendliest and nicest personalities. I looked forward to my WOD simply to be around positive and extremely entertaining people, I truly considered it an uplifting part of my day. One or more of the instructors would ALWAYS go out of their way to say hi to me, help me out, or ask how I was after the workout.
I also really like the variety: there were novice, intermediate, and experienced options for every workout with suggested weights. That may not seem like a big deal, but at the other gym I went to I was constantly having to go up to the instructor to ask what weight I should use cause I wasn't experienced enough to use their suggested weight (it was disappointing that I continually had to admit I couldn't do something). I don't have to do that at Ganbatte, which I take as a sign that they are very concerned with safety and want to make sure the newbies don't throw their backs out and feel included. I never felt shy about asking other members questions about the workouts, and they were always more than happy to help out as well (they aren't even paid to do that!). Just an overall positive environment with happy members and instructors. I would recommend this place over and over again.
