I had a terrible experience with GB3. On two separate occasions, front desk employees specifically told me that my 13-month contract would end automatically and that I wouldn’t need to cancel. Based on their information, I assumed my membership would simply expire, especially since I was moving out of town.

Instead, I found out I was still being charged. When I called on the weekend, another employee told me I could call back Monday to cancel over the phone. But when I finally spoke with the manager, I was told the only way to cancel was by mailing in a physical letter — and that I would continue being charged until the letter was received and processed.

This is misleading, frustrating, and feels intentionally designed to make cancellation as difficult as possible. Horrible customer service and a horrible gym experience overall.

Great gym, equipment in excellent shape , friendly staff, busy pool. Wish they would not have the news channels on the TVs adds to stress . Surely sport would be more appropriate, really love the gym. But the news channels stress me out and they are positioned so they are unavoidable . The Olympics , tour de France , Wimbledon, etc is on this summer, last 3 weeks was the beautiful tour of Italy and all we saw was politics .I really wish they would survey the members, I'm yet to meet anyone who wants to watch news and not sport . The manager says it is the preferred choice, at least there is one treadmill that looks out the window

Bought a day pass, the front desk girl didn’t have me sign in, I paid $10, I was given no receipt. I had an emergency and needed to run out for 25 min, I came back, the manager was at the front desk and demanded I pay again. I told him I just had to run out real quick and didn’t even get a chance to use the gym, he asked for my receipt. I told him I didn’t get one, but I literally JUST paid, I then showed him my bank statement which shows a recent pending transaction for $10, but because it’s pending, does not show an exact time. I told him to pull up the transaction list in their computer (which they 100% have access) he told me he doesn’t have one lol. He told me that the girl working at the front desk would have DEFINITELY made me sign in and given me a receipt (she did neither)… and he was standing there the entire time as well. I told him to check the cameras and I will bet him $10,000 that he will see me tapping my phone and paying the $10, and he said no, pay the $10 again. I’ve never seen a manager of a facility so desperate for $10 in my life and call a recurring customer a liar straight to his face, ever. The least professional human being I’ve ever seen, while simultaneously being very rude and condescending to me and the male employee working there. Below is a photo clearly showing he made me pay twice within 20 minutes. Hey George, do you really want your gym represented in this way? I’ve been coming here for 10 years.

Been to a few gb3 locations, this location is definitely a staple for what gb3 has to offer, by far the friendliest staff as well as a well trained staff, a hand full of times theres was this pleasant worker i believe named samuel, even i mentioned to him i will clean up my area, he politely helped me set everything back and wipe my equipment down, Great work & training from gb3 end, anytime i stop by i see this young man cleaning after all the people working out and putting the equipment back where they belong! Great Work gb3! Best gym staff members by a long shot!

I go to this location now almost 7 days of the week. The staff is friendly and the site is kept clean. I enjoy the energy and have made a few new friends. I have even met a couple of pros who have given me some workout advice. 💪
I also enjoy running into George himself he is always kind and encouraging. I like that they always keep up with fixing downed equipment. Most things if needing repair are only down for a day at the most.

I signed up for GB3 about a month ago. I signed a three year agreement with the gym. I lived in the bay for 16 years and went to a variety of gyms, e.g. American Barbell, City Sport, 24 hour. UFC. I am also a business owner so I look at venues from different angles.

This review is intended to help the gym. I am giving it three stars because that is what I truly feel it's worth. This is the type of gym where they pack memberships, so you have people from all fitness levels mixed in and it gets super crowded. The first gym I tried post Bay area was Valley fitness. That gym was pretty bad with very limited equipment and similar gym prices to those with much more amenities.

First, the staff does not welcome you. This is a HUGE deal when it comes to gyms. Welcoming people and getting them pumped out for a workout. At American Barbell, front desk knew my name and always had upbeat attitude. The front staff is busy on side convos. Like why would you have a front desk if they aren't going to greet your members. Might as well save $$$ and get a kiosk for check in..

Second which is hygiene and the etiquettes of using the gym. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. I have only seen one guy (who I went to and gave props) who actually wiped down the equipment. Like it's nasty that people use equipment and leave their sweaty selves on the bench and equipment for others to join in.

I’m really disappointed to be writing this review, because I thought with the new bumper plates at the gym, they would be more lenient about deadlifts and the like. However, if you ever want to deadlift without babying your weights on the eccentric, or plan to do olympic lifting of any sort, don’t waste your time going here. Sean, the manager of this gym, has an obsession with gymgoers setting down weights slowly and quietly, and has pulled me aside on multiple occasions for deadlifting “too loudly.”

Though they have an entire section with bumper plates exclusively, do not be fooled, you will be stopped mid-set by the manager if you do not entirely baby the weight when setting it down. I was told today I was not allowed to perform cleans due to it being “a safety issue” — despite the gym being quite empty, and nobody using the racks on either side of me. It’s incredibly frustrating that one of the only affordable gyms in Fresno with access to bumper plates does not allow normal deadlifts, cleans, jerks, or snatches.

I’ve been going to George Browns gyms for a long time and have always found their gyms to be very clean and professional. Their maintenance staff has always done a great job at whatever location I visited. And for me, there always has been soap in the dispensers.

A little crowded at peak hours.
Friendly front desk staff.
Maintenance needs to tell George to buy some backup sets of seats and pads so they can rotate them in when the old ones rip rather than the "out of order for upholstery" signs.

This gym is funny because they have signs of no recording by the entrance but nowhere on the actual gym floor and even then people still do it and nothing happens. At most everyone else gives them a side eye but no one’s going to say anything because that the staffs job which they do not do. I get it it’s a minimum wage job and “you’re not paid enough to care to say anything to anyone” but still it’s sad. Idk who the managers are but it feels non existent with the amount of time I see staff just messing around.

Let's be honest, there is no more DAYCARE!!! AND it is PACKED!!! LOTS of people just sitting on machines and tons of boys taking up machines checking out girls.
I mean I don't mind that they are BUT can they NOT do it on the machines? There are stretching areas where they can go and do that there.

UPDATED:After covid the daycare is closed at ALL GB3, No update on when they will open up again. Tired calling and its TBA

This is my opinion, but I am only there for about 1 hour because of my busy schedule. And within that time thankful there is enough areas that I can use alternatives either it may be machines for free weights to switch to and do my work outs.
I do not recommend that you come work out between 4pm to 6pm, those are the busiest hours and it will be hard to find a machine for even free weights.

Although I love the Gyms especially the one on Palm, the sales rep at this location was very rude to me when I asked about adding my current spouse to my account. I tried to take off someone from my account that I created years ago and the sales rep guy said that it was too bad because they’re considered my spouse and cannot be removed… even though the other person on my account was not active and hadn’t been for years. He wasn’t even staring at me when he was talking. he said “well you gotta be careful who you add because that’s who you choose as your spouse. I can’t remove them”. I then found out from another location that this was a newer stricter policy where they must be a true spouse.. i was never told this when I initially added the person on my account. I don’t mind the new policy but the sales rep was extremely rude about it. I went to another location and the lady was kind enough to tell me it’s possible to cancel the existing inactive person and replace with my current spouse for a fee. Whoever was working on 7/25 should be taught better customer service skills.

This location is organized, the machines don’t feel worn down, the fella at the front desk was polite. I really can’t think of anything to complain about.

4/21/23 5:03pm: The black haired front desk girl won't let us workout. Our membership is paid up ahead of every month and the front desk girl wont let us in. We were just at the Palm and Nees location 2 days before and get hassled for visiting this gym. We will be making a formal complaint.

The great: Space, function, range of equipment, heated pool and spa.

The good: somewhat clean equipment, not too many in disrepair, spacious locker rooms and functional restrooms, and a number of cardio machines.

The bad: Another GB3 that does not curb the culture of properly reracking their weights. I have heard a complaint from some people about "why do you care if weights are placed back on their corresponding spot?" Well, my friend, let me enlighten you with some... dare I say... KNOWLEDGE. Those who go to the gym aren't supposed to be lazy. We are there to make a difference to our health and our bodies. We put forth said effort and are held to a higher standard. Losing time to find misplaced weights just takes away from our gains or attempt to manage our weight. I could go deeper, but I digress.

The ugly: The manager/salesperson is not there for consideration of the customer. I don't know his name, but it should be Frank, because that is how he was about us adding our now old enough son to the membership. We did not need a pat on the back for bringing our son into the gym life, but asking our son his age and then doubting him does not instill confidence when doubty mustafa is an "adult". (Seriously, he's half Asian, you expect him to have had a Duane the Rock Johnson growth spurt?)

Fantastic gym only lacking one thing.....
Stop turning up the heater so dang high I know it 40 degrees outside were at a gym I guarantee I'll sweat while working out I don't like how it's so hot I'm sweating before I even get to really working out my routine
If it's too cold then either work out more or wear a bigger coat but a gym shouldn't be a sweat box
Also to the owner I wouldn't complain if you hiked the rates up higher so you can run the ac in the summer time full blast I'll pay more!! Even double it would probably help on reducing too many people in here during peak hours

Very nice gym! It's only been here for a few years so the machines are in good shape and the place looks good overall. I appreciate the cleanliness of this location, especially in the locker room area. I wish there were a few more benches and machines, but if you come at the right time, you can pretty much get on any equipment you need. Now if GB3 would just bring back childcare it would really be helpful. Overall, though this location is outstanding.

The gym is so packed at night and there are so many kids here playing around. The kids already have a gym at they're school and should workout there. GB3 has become a hangout spot for kids and the parents just drop them off. Some kids can also get hurt if not using the equipment the right way.
