I really loved this gym for almost two years, until yesterday, Saturday, November 8, when an employee trainer named Tony Buck tried to fight me over using bumper plates (Keep in mind I’m an 18-19-year-old teen). I do not recommend this place to ANYONE if you're going to have people like TONY BUCK ready to fight you for using equipment for what they’re meant for. If I’m wrong, someone explain how we drop bumper plates? If they’re not meant to be dropped, then why have them? So I recommend you rethink where you’re coming to if you’re going to have sensitive man babies ready to fight teenagers. Also, rethink having your team before you have TONY BUCK prepared to lose his cool over something so simple. If he’s really about to fight a teenager, then he shouldn’t have his job in general. I say you guys should consider him deserving of his career for the safety of others!

Clean and great hours

Update 4 years later: I ended up moving 110 miles away February 2020. Walked in to cancel. They filled out some paper and told me it was cancelled. Asked for something to provide and they said it wasn't necessary. Never had an issue so I went on my way. Fast forward to March 2021 and they are still charging me for over a year! I called and was told only via email would I be able to resolve it. Got no where. I explained my situation and the proof is in the badge ins. If there was any badge in data during that time it was fraud. They never answered back and the bank only refunded two months. Dispicable. Very unprofessional. I'm back in the area and the only way I'll go back there is if they honor those ten months I already paid

The previous manager Andrea was a blessing to this gym. She is truly missed. This picture was taking Monday and it's Thursday. This has inshape vibes since it's a complete cesspool for disease and now it's travelled to golds gym in Salinas. After you guys ripped me off for a year and I decided to return and give you guys business because you guys were the best but this is an absolute joke. Y'all gonna charge the annual fee for what? You guys don't even take care of the gym. This is the girls restroom that my girl sent me and it's still there today along with ants and pads,diapers, and tampons laying around. Yea the members are trash but the gym is following in the footsteps. Do better.

I like this gym but lately, there’s been many people with long tripods, lighting & everything filming themselves and others while working out. I don’t know why the gym (employees) allow that, there’s people who don’t feel comfortable being put on someone’s social media with out their consent. The employees don’t seem to do anything about that. Not only that but there was a women who was on live (tik tok or instagram live) while in the WOMENS LOCKER ROOM. There’s women there that are changing! That is completely not acceptable & the employees need to start doing something about that before they get sued for allowing someone on live while in the locker room. The locker room says no filming but because they allow it at the gym and common areas, they think it’s ok to continue filming everywhere. This is a huge safety concern and makes me feel uncomfortable about coming to this gym.

After years of requesting for an extra fan in the workout room, they finally got one which I appreciate. The cleaning staff seem to be doing a much better job.

I wish management will put up a more noticeable sign that states that when classes are in session, ONLY people attending classes can be in the room. A hanging sign on the door would be great for the instructor to show that class is in session.

Also, staff needs to be more organized with class schedules. Not sure how much communication there are between management and instructors. Social media needs to be updated much more frequently. Class sizes seem to be getting smaller and worry about cancellation of classes.

Overall the location, parking and staff are good. Needs to be a bit more organized with alerts to members on social media. Used to have a staff in charge of all the group classes but since she’s left, it’s been a bit of a mess with communication.

I’ve been a member since they’ve opened this location and hope to remain. Think you need to market your classes to get more members to participate. Need to maintain good instructors. Thanks!

The WiFi hasn’t worked in MONTHS and it is almost impossible to listen to music unless downloading it. There are several machines that have also been broken for weeks. Management please do something!!!!

I’ve been getting trained by Bobby Machado for almost 8 months at Golds Gym. Bobby is very knowledgeable, friendly and most of all motivating and caring. I’ve had an incredible experience with Bobby, even with having a very busy work and home life Bobby has helped me find a way to fit training into my schedule and stay motivated and keep pushing each week. I’ve never really been a gym person but ever since I started the program with Bobby and doing top quality workouts with him I’ve never felt more energized and much more confident to work out and stay consistent. I wouldn’t trade Bobby for any other trainer out there! I absolutely recommend training with Bobby and investing in your self! And going to Golds gym.

My favorite gym in Salinas! Clean and organized. Everything is where it's supposed to be. People re-rack their weights, and they clean up after them selves. They have almost everything you need: ankle straps, barbell pads, wi-fi, a water bottle refill station. Never too crowded when I go.
Here are two things I wish this gym had.
Stack the women's bathroom with tampons and pads; never know when you might need one.
There are no mats which is quite odd for a gym. I asked the front desk, and they said they removed them for sanitary reasons. I'd rather clean my mat before and after instead of stretching out on the hard floor. Bring them back!

They just dont care; simply put. The manager in his leisure suit larry jump suit, stands proud. And does nothing. You dont feel like anybody cares. Staff is very friendly and greets you with a smile and says goodbuy when you leave. Thats pretty much it. They do empty trash so thats nice. Oh ya I saw them painting the bike racks out front; thats important. In nearly 3 years being a member i have never seen a bike there. They still havent fixed the leg curl machine. The screen doesnt function and you cant fine tune the weight stack. But the bike racks that are never used have paint on them while the heavily used leg curl is broken. Great use of money, way to go.

Do NOT give these thieves your debit card number. I've made multiple attempts to cancel since the start of the pandemic and was either given the run-around or intentionality mislead. Staff is probably pressured to be deliberately evasive and I feel for them; but, the way this franchise traps its members is so unethical, I don't even know how it's legal. Good that they are outside. Bad that people are NOT practicing s. Distancing ( about 1/2 were), machines werent cleaned between each person. And there is NO,NONE at all shelter from above, weather sunny or night, theres no protection from elements. At this moment there is an active slert for EXTREME AIR QUALITY ALERT , due to SEVERAL FIRES in our area,its at 159, (#3 worst air in the US, at this moment) without the employees warning about the risk, and or letting the members continue to work out ( when its even been on the news that no one should be workingout/exersizing outside and its been an active alert for 3 days), they are either
1) ignorant to the damage it can do to each person[ which obviously is different for each person,
2) oblivious , and just busy playing with there phones,perhaps they dont get paid to care about the members( this is an everyday occurance, with several different employees)
3) they are so money hungry, that they do not care
4) perhaps no one , permit wise knows they are open and operating like this,
5) they could have permission from city, and if thats the caseITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT ISSUE,
Bottom line, if i need to work out without a proper mask, ( for the ash, which covid masks are not rated for that) i would hope my gym would use good judgement and due dilligence..and do what is best for members AND empliyees, whether they like it or not..i can no longer recommend businesses like that😟content://com.android.chrome.FileProvider/images/screenshot/15980327175183104427490856524680.png

Great staff and good equipment, including free-weights. They have a "one-time fee" of $69 that they use as a sales tactic and as an extra source of revenue because they actually charge that fee once a year when you go to renew. To be clear, they seem to be advertising a one-time fee while charging it to their clients once a year. This is what I was just told as I was about to renew for a second year, but I won't be knocking 3 stars off until I get positive confirmation this is actually true and the salesperson isn't just misinformed.

This is one of the nicest gym's I've ever seen. They did a great job with the design. It looks so clean and modern. The cycling room is top of the line with stadium levels. I hear they're bringing in a top of the line body imaging machine that gives you your body measurements and an outdoor functional training area with sleds and ropes. Gold's Gym Salinas South is the premier place to get fit. Tony, the manager has a great staff and are all nice to work with. Can't wait for the retail merchandise to come in.
