I am not a fan of working out and have a history of starting then stopping exercising. If the gym or exercise class is too far or requires me to get in my car to drive there, I always end up making an excuse. I've only ever been consistent when I hired a personal trainer to come to my door to work out. When my trainer moved onto another career gig, I never bothered to look for a replacement. I relayed this information when I first met Shannon, the owner of Gym Class. A friend had told me about it a while back and I had reached a point where I knew I needed to start exercising. My only goal when I started was to create a routine where I would consistently show up. With Shannon's support, I not only showed up every morning for the 7am workout, but I definitely got stronger. Shannon and Gen (another coach) are really good at gently pushing you, helping to make modifications, and keep you entertained while you're getting through your workout. They are also excellent at taking feedback or trying new things which you can really only do in a small gym setting.
Lastly, the thing I wasn't expecting at all was to meet some kick ass women in the gym class community who are also encouraging me to show up and reach my own goals. I literally came for the small group workout and have found a wonderful little network of women as an added bonus.

Quick update: I just want to say how fun Shannon and the Gymclass community makes working out. I promise you will be challenged with your workout, laugh a lot, and make new friends. It is the place to be if you want to add strength training to your workout despite any fears you may have (e.g., weights, body size, past failures, no time, etc.). Give her a call today and try your first class!
I have been attending GymClass workouts since the beginning of the pandemic when Shannon offered complimentary online workouts to the teachers of my district. This past year, I have attended her gym for in-person workouts and for the last 9 weeks have participated in her coaching program, Lift to Lose. I love the camaraderie of the women in her gym and the sense of inclusion and safety. We talk and laugh and the workouts fly by. Also, the classes are small enough that she will make sure you are doing the exercises safely.
Shanon’s Lift to Lose coaching program has been a game changer for me. I’ve learned so much about the importance of prepping food ahead and eating a variety of foods with protein. I love that she provides the meal plan for the week along with the recipes and shopping lists. The recipes are easy to follow and delicious. So far I’ve lost 12 pounds but, more importantly, I’m relieved that I have found a way to eat that I can manage with my busy schedule and not feel deprived. In addition, it’s not all about food and weight loss. During her coaching calls, Shannon focuses on weekly themes (e.g., sleep, mental health/changing negative messages, stress, movement, etc.). The things I’m learning from the coaching calls cross over to many areas of my life - not just weight loss/fitness. If you’re feeling a bit stuck in your workouts, give Shannon’s coaching program a try. You won’t regret it!

I love this place! I’m the type of person who does not like working out. I hate it. It takes A LOT to get me to exercise but GymClass has completely changed the way I think and feel about working out. I am excited to go everyday it’s open. The ladies that you work out with are supportive, motivating, and so helpful. This place is a gem. I’m so happy I’m a part of it.

This is a very special community & there's nothing like it. If you're looking to improve your health & well-being in a safe, supportive, & fun environment - this is it! Before starting here, I had never managed to go to the gym consistently, let alone work with intimidating weights. I'm 4 months in now, & have greater confidence in myself & what I can do, both in & outside of the gym. This is somewhere between a group class & personal training sessions - you go at your own pace, get personal attention & high accountability, as well a caring, authentic community, thanks to the environment Shannon has created. It's been inspiring to hear others' stories & every month, there's a new eye-opening community event - from talks on menopause, to led-demonstrations on qigong & yoga. I can't say enough how transformative GymClass is & how glad I am to be part of it!

I recently traveled across Asia, hopping on and off trains with all their sudden stops and jerky starts. But guess what? I didn’t even have to hold onto a pole! 🚆✨ Thanks to my training at GymClassRocks—especially those single-leg deadlifts—my balance and strength were on point! Who knew leg day could turn me into a human gyro stabilizer?
Been coming for >1 year now, I absolutely love the community and the supportive environment for women >40 to get stronger. My goal is to still be active into my 70s,80s... GymClassRocks is helping me achieve this 💪🔥

I’m so grateful to Shannon and the welcoming community of women I’ve met at GymClass! Having just moved to the area, I was looking for a place to workout. I had no idea I would find friends and a network of people who have been so inviting, funny and REAL! It’s been quite healing as well. I’ve struggled for the past year with long COVID and had severe muscle loss due to inactivity from fatigue and illness. In just a month, I’ve had noticeable gains in strength, mobility and muscle growth - all of which have improved my overall stamina and general well-being mentally, emotionally and physically. Having a place to be supported and encouraged to accomplish our individual goals, while being attentively guided by Shannon has been a fantastic experience!

I was a bit intimidated with weightlifting when I started at Gym Class Rocks, but it was the perfect place to get started. Not only was the owner of the gym, Shannon, very accommodating in teaching me the exercises and helping me adjust the workout to my specific needs, but the entire community of women was as well. Once I started getting stronger and ready to increase my weights, I was surrounded by a wonderful group of strong women who provided inspiration and advice on form, weights, and life. And, perhaps most important for me, whenever I skip several weeks due to life getting in the way, I am always welcomed back by Shannon and the community as if I hadn’t been gone at all.

I have been going to Gym Class for over a year. When I first started out, I was overweight, weak, had poor agility and poor balance. Shannon has helped me modify my workouts to allow me to work up to where I am today. I lost 80 lbs, and have much better strength, agility and balance. The gym set up has many options for how to accomplish the workouts for each day. The women working out along side of me are friendly and supportive, and I have enjoyed going. I would and have recommended this class to others.

I found Shannon and GymClass through a friend and I'm so glad. This women's only gym is the perfect blend of excellent strength and circuit workouts. Whether you've been working out all of your life, you're trying a gym for the first time, or like me, trying weight training for the first time, you will be supported by this amazing community of women. The workouts are well designed and there are always options to modify and go at your own pace - no pressure here, just lots of encouragement. I've built up my strength and balance since joining GymClass and highly recommend it!

I actually look forward to coming to Gym Class. It is a great way to get in your strength, training and cardio (regardless of your level.). The program is set up to meet you where you are and help you improve on a schedule that is healthy and doable for you. I’ve had some trainer and gym experiences that felt traumatic, but this feels healing. The owner and her team are incredibly patient and kind.

GymClass is unlike any other gym that I’ve been a part of; from the personable staff Shannon and Zoe, the supportive community of females to the strength training knowledge, classes and equipment. I can’t imagine working out any place else. It has quickly become a home to me. My personal goals to strengthen and tone in the first month has been accomplished. Shannon and Gym Class is one of the best thing that’s happened in my life! I’ve said many times over that she has saved my life but last month the proof was in the bloodwork. Overall cholesterol down, LDL down, HDL up, sugar down, A1C down and I’m stronger than I’ve been in years!
But most importantly my new mindset has had benefits beyond bloodwork, and beyond the scale (which is also down).
Shannon has taught me to see things in a more positive light. I’m so much happier and so grateful for everything I have and Shannon instilled that in me. Her guidance is immeasurable to me. I’m grateful for the physical and mental health she’s giving me as well as her friendship. She’s brought together a community of kind, supportive women who are all doing amazing things.

Wanted to give a shout out to the 12 week program I just completed with Shannon .. i know she is offering a new program moving forward which is going to be even better but wanted to share my great news! For the first time in a long time , I was excited to go to the doctor . I saw him just one week before I started the program to run all my tests …. Needless to say- I knew they were not going to be great but I wanted a true marker of where I started this journey . I went back on Monday of this week- so 3 ½ months later and was just amazed! 31 lbs gone which is amazing but even more importantly - my blood pressure was with in range, my cholesterol went from 189 to 128, my triglycerides went from 127 to 78, my ldl cholesterol went from 121 to 72 and my non hdl cholesterol went from 145 to 88….. I won’t need any medications and with continued excercise and weight loss they will only continue to get better! I am so proud of myself and I made an appt for 3 months from now to see my continued progress …. I also want to note- I didn’t do this by going to the gym . I don’t live close enough to take Shannon’s classes so I did this with walking, my own strength training and all the tools that Shannon Dechaine teaches in her weekly meetings . I know these are lifetime changes I can manage and can’t wait to see where I am 6 months from now !

I’ve been working out here since last November. While I don’t ever look forward to working out, I do enjoy the company when coming to this gym. I especially love how I feel after a workout. Each class has different workouts, so you never know what you will be working on that day. Shannon and Gen are very welcoming, friendly and encouraging. Not intimidating at all at this gym. They will point out when I am doing something wrong, and they offer alternative workouts for those that can’t do certain exercises. I usually do the night class because of my work schedule, but they also offer a lot of morning classes and online classes too. I would definitely try out a trial class and check this place out. Highly recommend this place!

GymClass is a place that is unlike any I've ever encountered in my 20+ years of working out. The owner, Shannon, takes the time and energy to know and connect with each member and makes sure they are growing in their strength and enthusiasm for working out. The unique special sauce is the mindset shift that I have now that I am a member of this special community. The women not only build one another up but Shannon personally ensures that each person shifts their mindset from "I can't do that" to "look how much I can do!" This has been incredbily powerful for me both inside and outside the gym and I have never felt more confident in both what my body can accomplish and what I can attain as a working mom juggling young kids. I have realized the importance of carving out "me" time to be the best version of myself. I can not speak more highly of this community and the two years I have been priviledged to be a part of it.

GymClass and Shannon are the community and person I never knew I needed in my life until life brought me to a path where I wasn’t quite sure where to turn! I have been on a health journey for many years and been part of many different communities in the health and fitness realm. When my life turned upside down, I gave up on me I gave up on caring about me. I needed help and didn’t quite know what to do or where to turn! When I chose to make a new commitment to me and chose to walk into 2023 with a better mindset, that’s when the cards fell into place! While life has been a storm for me these last 2 years, GymClass specifically Shannon was the calm in that storm! When I took a chance on me…and my health again! I had been able to do this journey on my own! But I needed more for me! I joined the 12 week program shortly after the new year. While losing a some physical weight would be great…what I ended up doing is losing the weight…emotional that is…in between my ears! I focused on my mindset…my morning routine…settling into this each and every day until it became second nature and something I missed when I didn’t stick to my routine! Let me tell you that Shannon provides the tools, the tough love, the kindness and compassion we all need! But you know what? I had to do the work…the hard…challenging…liberating work! Invested in me! And it’s the absolute best gift I could give myself…my health…my life! And it’s spilling into so many other aspects of my life! It’s not perfect far from it! There is so much I could say about why Gym Class is such a special gym! It is a woman owned gym that is geared toward creating a safe space for women (and girls through the teen classes offered during summer!) who may either be new to strength training or returning to it with the opportunity to work with an amazing trainer, Shannon! Shannon has created a wonderful judgement free community at Gym Class, both in-person and online, where members can really show up for themselves and each other and find the support that you just can’t find at big box gyms. Gym Class is an investment in your health and fitness that can truly change your life.
