I started going to this gym a few months ago for women's strength training. While I'm active, I'd never lifted weights in my life. Belle has been my trainer and she's fantastic - knowledgable, patient, and keeps me laughing throughout my workouts. Connor, who owns Gymworxs, has stocked the space with the highest end equipment you'll ever use and keeps the place spotless (including the cleanest bathrooms in town!). When I go to work out at other gyms on off days I now realize I'm spoiled by the high standards at Gymworxs. You will have a great experience here. Highly recommend!

Came to work with John to get over a hamstring injury that was not getting better after months and he really helped me understand the issue and worked with me to design exercises that helped me work on my glutes without further injuring the hamstring. It’s been a couple months and my hamstring injury is no longer bothering me! John is so knowledgeable about the body and I’m learning so much about form and how to train from him. Highly highly recommend! The facilities are also clean, and the equipment is top tier.

I love bouldering but developed shoulder pain which prevented me from climbing without pain. I went to physical therapy initially but the exercise prescribed to me by Kaiser did not help and I was getting frustrated. One of my colleagues had great success working with John and suggested I see him. John was very receptive and patient with me. In the first week of working with him he was able to diagnose and put together a routine to helping me get back to rock climbing pain free. I have been working with him since May and the pain and discomfort I feel in my shoulder has reduced to almost zero. John was very effective at explaining what the issue was and how to address it moving forward. I have recently started climbing again regularly and have not experienced pain like I did before. I would highly recommend working with John if you are ever in pain keeping you from doing what you love to do.

I’ve been going to this neighborhood gym for a few months
and I've been loving it.
The place itself has all the best equipment, it’s super clean, never too crowded and it just feels nice! Conor the owner is super kind and helpful, everyone there makes you feel at home, which I appreciate a lot!
Currently, I am working with Keani. I have lot of injuries and it has been very helpful to train with her. She watches my form like a hawk! Keani knows her stuff when it comes to proper form, strength training, and improving mobility. Her workouts are tailored and effective with just the right amount of sass and encouragement. Totally worth it!

I’ve trained at Gymworx off and on since they first opened up a few years ago. I’m back now because I am recovering from knee replacement surgery. I’ve been working with John for 3 months and he is obviously very experienced with both personal training and rehab work. I’ve stopped going to physical therapy at this point because John is working with me on total body conditioning with particular focus on knee rehab. As a retired physician, I recommend Gymworx and John Sinkavich for personal training and rehab without hesitation.

I’ve worked with a few personal trainers over the past 10+ years, and training with John at Gymworx has been the most progress I’ve made in the shortest time. In just three months, my deadlift is up about 30%, I’m lifting my bodyweight, and — maybe most surprising — I actually look forward to going to the gym after work. Strength training never felt natural to me, since I didn’t grow up playing sports or working out much, but John makes it approachable. He’s clearly experienced (you can tell he worked in a clinical setting), really emphasizes proper form, and creates full-body workouts that target both large muscle groups and smaller stabilizers. He also sends personalized mobility exercises, tips for recovery and sleep, and videos tailored to my goals, which makes our 2x/week sessions feel super consistent and effective.
On top of the strength gains, John’s also helped relieve some long-standing neck and back pain by improving my posture and back strength. I’ve even noticed better stability in exercises I used to struggle with — like bench pressing, which now feels totally different with the right setup and form. The gym itself is great too: clean, well-equipped with new machines, and stocked with pre- and post-workout drinks. Overall, if you’re looking for a trainer who’s smart, supportive, and really knows his stuff, I can’t recommend John enough.

I’ve been working with Alvaro for just over a year and have loved his comprehensive and dynamic approach to training. He hand tailors his workout plans while observing for imbalances during the sessions. I have been progressing in my strength and physical function all while correcting imbalances and having fun. I actively look forward to my sessions.
The facilities are state of the art, beautifully maintained, and most importantly not crowded. All clients must be working out with a trainer which limits the total number of patrons at any given hour. No more fighting for equipment in the middle of your set.
Connor, the owner is super friendly and knowledgeable and often asks for feedback on ways to further improve the gym.

Wonderful gym. Amazing owner (Connor). Great trainers, especially Alvaro who I've been working out with for about a year. Can't recommend him enough. Focuses on balanced exercise, has helped me increase my fitness and flexibility so much. I started out with a friend for an hour twice a week for 10 sessions and then started doing solo 30min sessions twice a week. Alvaro helped fix what I thought was plantar fasciitis, and always asks "how's your body feeling?" at the start of every session and if there's anything going on, he helps to fix or address it. Also if any exercise or stance creates any pain, he stops and fixes the form. Lots of split squats and other upper and whole body exercises that don't allow you to overuse your back in an unbalanced way. I thought I would just do 10 sessions or maybe 20 and then cut back to once a week and then do stuff on my own but instead I've been sticking with him 2x a week for a year now and I wouldn't change it - seems expensive when you start but I think it's well worth the money.
Alvaro is also an amazing student and expert on nutrition and diet and can recommend lots of changes (if you want).
Connor, the owner is such a lovely gentleman. Always a pleasure to speak with him. At a year end event, I met folks who have been training with him for 29 years. At first I was blown away by that but it makes more and more sense.

Give Alvaro and gymworx a try... I will almost guarantee that you won't regret it.

John is the best - as someone who had zero experience lifting before my training sessions with John, I couldn’t be happier working with him. He’s hyper attentive to every detail (including tailoring our workouts around a really bad shoulder injury that I’ve been nursing for 10+ years). He has helped me build strength generally but also specifically around that same shoulder, which I feel much more confidence in today (it was really holding me back before).
John is tough but motivating and will push you to your limits while also focusing on great technique. He will make sure you’re doing things the right way (vs. overloading yourself with bad technique, which could lead to injury). He also is attentive to nagging injuries and will roll / stretch you out before workouts to make sure that you’re fully prepared for your session. Can’t say enough good things about John!

I started training with John at GymWorx a couple of months ago with basically zero experience—and he’s been incredible from day one. As someone totally new to working out, I really appreciated how focused he is on proper form and building a strong foundation. Every session is thoughtfully structured and super well-balanced—always a full-body challenge, but in the best way.
You can tell right away that John is super knowledgeable and experienced. He explains everything clearly, and tailors each workout to your level, which makes him a great trainer for both beginners like me and people who are already more familiar in the gym.
He’s also taught me a ton about stretching, recovery, and how to take care of my body outside of the gym. I train with him a few times a week now and genuinely feel stronger, more confident, and way more capable thanks to his support.

I began my PT journey with Alvaro in December 2023, with a herniated disc. Alvaro quickly assessed me, identified troublesome movement patterns, and got me in the road to recovery. Once I healed my herniated disc, I counted to work on strength training and conditioning with Alvaro. This neighborhood gym is an incredible asset to the community. The personal trainers and the owner are fantastic. I’ve been working with John, and he accommodates you at all costs. Super knowledgeable and very attentive to my personal needs. He diagnosed some longstanding injuries that I had overlooked for years. I’ve been working with John for a few months and it’s a 10/10. I had been with several gyms/trainers over the years, never feeling like I was making progress and always dreading the appointments. With John, from day 1 I felt like I was making progress rapidly. They are the hardest workouts I’ve had and I leave feeling like it was the best investment in myself I could’ve made. I also started with an Achilles injury that had left me deconditioned for several months.i could barely walk up stairs without pain. John has extensive injury and body work experience, and within the first week of working with him my Achilles made dramatic improvement. Within three weeks my pain was completely gone. He checks it regularly and we are now working on injury prevention. Lastly, interpersonally, John is so fun and kind, the time passes fast. Hard to work with someone you don’t like, and everyone enjoys him. I couldn’t recommend this gym or John enough!!

Your search is over if you’re looking for a trainer who can get you to your goals. John is the best personal trainer I have worked with in the decade since I ran collegiate Track and has made me his client for life.
After I was matched with John at Gymworx, he asked me about my athletic history and promptly updated my gym goals from slim waist and (very) toned glutes to 1. fixing my tech neck and chronic back pain, 2. improving my upper body, core, and lower body strength, 3. Increasing my flexibility and mobility, and 4. fat glutes (he let me keep this).
John’s medical background lends itself well to working with former athletes and individuals with high-stress jobs. The first day I worked with John, he fixed my chronic back pain, an injury from my time spent running track in high school and college, which has completely changed my daily life. I have also gained and retained substantially more muscle working with John in just a few months than I did with any of my previous five personal trainers.

The best place to work out for personal training in my opinion. Always clean, and the machines and free weights are of the best quality. Having worked out in other larger gyms, but this gym provides a space where the clients are less distracted and can concentrate on their sessions better. Conor the owner is always present and makes a point to acknowledge all of the gyms clients. There are many highly qualified trainers available to choose from, all with excellent personalities. I highly recommend trying out this gym and you won't be disappointed. I personally have been training with Ross Steiner (Steiner Strength) for many years. He takes the time to understand your fitness goals since everyone's body is different. I have noticed other great trainers who work here; all have great attitudes and are very competent in helping you become more fit.

The studio is emulate, which I can say is extremely rare in the fitness world. It’s so nice to train in a clean and organized environment. It always puts me in a great mood to finish sessions there. This is truly the 'Apple Store of gyms' and it delivers on that promise. Immaculate design, pristine layout, and thoughtful attention to detail everywhere you look. The powder-coated Eleiko weights are absolutely gorgeous - each color perfectly arranged in racks, from competition plates to training bumpers. It's like functional art. The whole gym has that clean, minimalist aesthetic that makes you want to be there.

GYMWORX is the most state-of-the-art gym in SF. The facility itself is always clean and well maintained; the staff open & friendly. There’s none of the nonsense like you get in large open gyms. Their trainers are at the top of their profession. Not only do you get a great workout, but they educate you in proper training techniques which enables you to get to the next level of your fitness journey.
I’m a fitness professional myself and have trained with Conor for many years. He’s helped me through 2 major surgeries. The pre & post op trainings were instrumental in a quick & strong recovery. Even my surgeon was amazed at how quickly I recovered from both operations.

I train with Alvaro Campos. Alvaro’s programming helped me lose over 20 pounds steadily over a few months. Since then, I’ve been building muscle and strength while also improving my flexibility and mobility.

I’ve been working with Gymworx for about 18 months now, and I’d highly recommend it to anybody that wants to work with a personal trainer.
First and foremost, Conor is the perfect enabler to set you on your desired fitness path. When I joined, he listened to my hopes and goals, and with his wealth of knowledge and connections, he set me up with the perfect trainer (Josh Moberg has been fantastic) for my needs.
Second, Gymworx itself is amazing. It’s convenient, located in a part of Potrero hill that’s easy to get to and park, the workout equipment is best-of-the-best, the facility is always neat and clean, and the gym never feels crowded. In this way, I’ve found personal training at Gymworx to be worth every dollar.
The gym feels very connected. The vibe is positive, all the trainers are friendly and focused on their clients, and everybody is willing to give a hand or advice or banter at any time. Ever since I started coming to Gymworx, I’ve never needed to look for exercise or fitness help or guidance anywhere else, as Gymworx has all that I could want or need.

TL;DR - Gymworx is kind and welcoming and delivers results. Alvaro has been my co-pilot in re-architecting my lifestyle to be healthier. Lost 30 pounds, 6% bodyfat in 2 months and still going! Highly recommended!
Context: 2023 was a stressful year and I put on 50 pounds as a consequence, going from 190 to 240 pounds. I had pretty much written off 2023 in terms of my physical self - I didn't like looking at myself in the mirror, I wore hoodies because most of my other clothes didn't fit, and I could barely walk 3 blocks uphill without breaking a sweat and hurting my ankles.
What Happened: I resolved to do something about my health at the beginning of 2024. I'd walked past Gymworx multiple times before but could never bring myself to actually enter. It looked intimidating, expensive and for serious, dedicated athletes only. I could hardly imagine that I was a good fit for Gymworx.
This could not have been further from the truth.
When I finally worked up the courage to reach out, Conor (the owner) was incredibly responsive and welcoming. Within a couple hours, I popped round for an in-person visit and he walked me through Gymworx, the equipment and the personal training program. He also took the time to really hear me and get a sense of who I was a person - in addition to my goals, situation, etc. I felt really heard by him - for example, I wanted more holistic help that included diet and nutrition and not just fitness and strength training.
This was important because he used our convo to match me with the right trainer - Alvaro Campos. What can I say - it's worked really well between Alvaro and myself. I didn't know it at the time, but I was seeking a re-architecting of my overall lifestyle to be healthier and fitter and happier - and he's been my co-pilot in this overall effort. He adopts a more holistic approach to fitness and wellness - we talk about diet and recipes as much as we work out. He approaches both strength training and nutrition from a science-based focus that suits me well (he likes to send me research studies to read in my spare time). He provides the right mix of accountability (I used to share a food journal with him for accountability) and kindness and humor.
And he doesn't hesitate to go above and beyond - always accessible outside of work hours, etc. I had to go for a 3-week trip and even though we paused the sessions then, he created a strength-training program for me to maintain results while traveling. It has never felt transactional with the team at Gymworx.
Losing all that weight has given me my life back. I feel like I've reconnected and am back in control of my physical self. I can wear my regular clothes again, my joints no longer have the stress and I have more energy than ever. I can look myself in the mirror again and I'm truly happy with myself.

What Happens Next:
In line with the re-architecting of my lifestyle, this is a never-ending process. There are still goals I want to achieve - I still want to lose another 20 pounds at least and I'm only 2+ months in. Eventually, I will want to plateau off the weight/fat loss and build muscle.
So I'll be continuing with Gymworx. But I really appreciate that the focus has been on giving me the tools to build a sustainable lifestyle that I want forward!
Pros:
Builds a relationship with you and really hears you - matching you with a trainer who suits your needs and personalities
Focus is on re-architecting your lifestyle and giving you the tools to sustain the lifestyle
Equipment and facilities are immaculate - and never very busy. It's purposely kept low-traffic for clients.
Cons:
It's not cheap - but also you get what you pay for, and I've always felt that it's money well-spent

I train with Conor at Gymworks for over a year , usually 2-3 times a week. Not only the gym has best equipment I have ever seen ; you will find the best trainers that are passionate about their client and know how to train safely and steadily based on your own objectives. This is really tailored training and they have super good level of flexibility if your schedule needs it. You cannot go wrong here . This is one of the , if not the best gym in the city

I train with Mike & just started taking the Sunday group workout with Conor. The gym is clean, asthetically pleasing and has all the proper weights, machines, equipment. The restrooms and showers are immaculate. Parking is ample and it’s not too far from the bus stops.
I absolutely hate it when individuals call them self a “coach” when they lack basic fundamentals of training and nutrition so training with Mike is excellent. He is seasoned, strategic, organized and knowledgeable. He checks all the boxes you need in a coach. I also hate it when people sell you false hope. I believe in words of encouragement but I don’t want to be fed lies so I appreciate the honesty I can get with Mike. He has a strong background training bodybuilders but it doesn’t mean he can’t tailor a program to fit your needs. He’s a bit pricy but we’re in the bay and what isn’t expensive? But I’ve also learned that this is the price I’m paying to invest in myself so I find that worth every penny.
Conor is very knowledgeable and truly knows his craft too. If I had to break up with Mike for training I would leave him for Conor.

Was so excited to see this space opening in the neighborhood!
Started training with Conor 2x/week when it opened a few months ago and I never felt better overall. He definitely knows a ton about health and fitness and he will work with your goals and especially injuries! I always feel motivated coming in for a session (and afterwards) and the top of the line equipments and immaculate space is just a bonus.
Location is great- right next to Philz Coffee and a block away from Whole Foods and the park.

I’ve been training with Stevan for many years. He helped me focus and motivate and help me understand my body and reaching my goals. I’m so happy he’s found this beautiful new space to train. I've been doing both 1:1 personal training and group sessions with Conor for about 3 years. As a woman, I always focused on cardio, but in my 30s I realized I wanted to look toned rather than just skinny.
Conor taught me everything I know about weight and resistance training. He trained me through my first pregnancy, and I attribute my ability to return to exercise and my pre-pregnancy body within 2 months to him.
I can't say enough good things about working out with Conor. He is kind, patient and extremely knowledgable. If you're looking for a personal trainer, Conor is your guy.
