Front desk staff isnt cool at all. Everytime ive been there they have been rude, I get if your having a bad but i feel like it is seriously an issue everytime. Please fix your staffs attitude so that we can all have a better climbing experience. The staffs attitude makes me avoid this gym, went back today to try it out and once again the attitude still hasnt changed. Pretty sure the girl I had a bad interaction with today is a worker named Yasmin (not sure though) ….. honestly it sucks because gym is pretty fun…..

AquΓ no les carbura la maceta…. Translates to your brain doesn’t carburate. You see a new customer with a child interested in climbing walk in, ask him for experience, says none. You have him sign consent forms and waivers, watch a 10 min video, sign another consent and waiver. Then when the customer asks if a lesson is needed as other customers are mentioning lessons, as an employee you say, oh you don’t have lessons? As an employee and your rules lessons are required for first timers, you should maybe asks when he walks in asking for information and shares he has no experience to not waste 45 mins of his and your employees time.

The greatest choice I’ve made is to try rock climbing this year. I have loved every session I’ve had, every time I come here I feel peace. I can enjoy focusing my effort on a boulder or belay or I can meet people and try hard stuff together. It’s incredible how everyone can be so open and kind, whilst being so skilled in everything they attempt. I’m glad to be a member and I hope others try rock climbing at least once! Shoutout to the best gym in SoCal πŸ™Œ

This is the Spirit Airlines of climbing gyms.
Very discount, you don't get much, and everything costs extra.

Lifeless climbs, rarely changed, lead testing is a series of "what am I thinking" questions, missing carabiners on the autobelays so you have to pull out a bunch of slack and stand on it like a dork, too much angry screamo music, no AC. Did I mention lifeless climbs? Gah, I wish they'd get descent setters.

Gym looks clean, well set, professional. Unfortunately due to a "new policy" they don't accept walk-ins for new climbers to the gym. Imagine my surprise visiting from Arizona after driving 8 hours (unrelated event but in the area) and wanting to relax at the end of the day with some climbing, to be informed that i have to schedule an instruction course and the next one won't be for another hour. I understand that precautions need to be taken, and safety courses followed. I've climbed across the US and volunteer with USA Climbing, and never have been informed that I need to schedule an instructional safety course that comes in at THIRTY FIVE(35) DOLLARS FOR EACH COURSE (top rope and boulder.) The 5 staff members at the front desk didnt seem too busy and how little empathy was given by the staff member I spoke with is insane. Until learning about the pricing I was considering sucking it up and dealing with it, but knowing what it actually costs for a day pass and all the steps required (waiver, watch orientation, schedule class, actually begin climbing) immediately made me change my mind.
Honestly it's a shame the company is the only one near my hotel and they drive away potential business due to this new policy. I'm genuinely curious what the reasoning was for enacting this new ruleset, because frankly it should be rescinded.

Good gym but terrible front desk staff. I have been a hanger 18 member for 10 years and been to many of the gyms and this one has the worst staff. The girl with the glasses and curly dark hair made my daughter cry once. She also power trips on worksheet knowledge but cleary isn't a climber. Just go to the Iowa gym; it is smaller but much better staff.

The employee here was very rude. Improperly sectioning off an area then talking down to me about it. It's fine if the employees are new but to take a confrontational attitude with a guest is beyond wild. Honest mistakes happen but rude employees are unacceptable.

Some of my friends who go there are saying the staff member has been speaking badly about being to members here too which is even more ridiculous.

I've reached out through the phone number listed multiple times, I've emailed as well. I wanted more information. My children are homeschooled, I had wanted to sign them up after learning more but no one has returned my email. It's been 2 weeks since I first made my inquiry. The only option on the website is to do a trial class and that doesn't work for me if I'm trying to use homeschool funds. For these reasons I'm rating your business a 1 star. I'm disappointed that no one has bothered to email me back or answer the phone the many times I have called. At this point I am no longer interested in doing business with you guys. Hopefully you'll change the way your customers can access you in the future.

Staff here is extremely strict, way more strict than they need to be, and way more strict than any other hangar18. Every time I have gone here they either threaten to remove my group for β€˜not adhering to gym rules” or take away my belay card even though I use the same techniques at other hangar18s. The gym overall is quite nice but the quality of the new staff hires ruins the whole climbing experience for me.

Nice climing gym with lead, top rope and bouldering opportunities. Routes are changed frequently and they have a wide range of styles and difficulties. Highly recommended, especially the lead climbing course is very good! Staff is nice, althoug some staff memebers have quite a bit to learn still about common sense.

My friend and I signed up for the into to rock climbing class. We thought it started at 5:45pm but when we got there we realized that it actually started at 5pm and we had missed it. Despite this, the staff (Eric) was very understanding and accommodating and gave us the lesson anyways. He was a really great teacher and made the class super enjoyable. Overall had a wonderful experience and would absolutely recommend people to go.

Super fun, beginner friendly! Just learned top roping at the 2nd riverside location in Arlington. After a day I decided to get a membership, I started at auto blade ans its honestly sooo fun, they change the steps every Friday so it never gets dull. It is a full body work out, and it's feels amazing when you push yourself and see results of getting better and better.

I took my grandsons on 1/14/23 and Spencer helped us. If that young man is not the G.M. or Manager he should be. What a breath of fresh air. I bought a Groupon for intro class for my boys and couldn’t find it. He offered me the same deal without a issue and spent quality time teaching my 6 & 8 year old the basics. I can’t complement him enough. He made the experience a thrill for the boys. Because of him we’ll be back time and time again.

Really awesome gym. While the bouldering area might be smaller than expected the main attraction is the top rope and lead walls. The gym is secluded from the climbing area which makes focusing a lot easier when meditating or doing yoga. I try to make it a point to come to this gym at least once a month for a full refresh. Because most of the bouldering is overhang it really challenges me to step outside my comfort zone and the cave area always has something that is at my level or just above to keep me engaged without feeling impossible.

Great activity to do with my kid. We both loved it after our first time. All of the staff we've met so far are awesome. They're very friendly and helpful and they're so good with kids. Theyre very clear with their instructions and very patient. We've gotten to do the top rope, auto belay, and bouldering by now and they're all so much fun. My kid loves the bouldering above all and he gets a good sweat on!
The facility is clean and in good shape. It didn't look it to me at first, but there are tons of different courses to try. We could spend a couple of hours there, especially since a lot of the members are also really friendly. It's a really nice vibe and a fun way to get a workout in.

This place is pretty great. I ended up buying the yearly membership. Wasn't expecting to get into rock climbing as much as I am, but Hanger 18 has me hooked. The atmosphere here is super nice. They play all different kinds of music, which I love. On the nice days, they open up the hanger door and it lets in a lot of natural light and fresh air. The staff is always friendly and eager to help out. They have a variety of gear on hand that you can rent or buy. You can even get some stuff ordered for you. Most of the people who go regularly are super friendly and offer up advise. Plenty of people have helped me out there. Great place to train, get in shape, and stay active.

This is a good gym for those who already know what they're doing, but terrible for beginners. Other gym I've been to, the instructors are there to help you whenever and will give you instructions on how to belay. However, the instructors will only teach you if you pay $10. You either get a belay lesson or bouldering lesson for the $10. The boulder lasted all of 2 mins, so not sure what we were paying for. Great staff. Good routes. Chill crowd. Have only been to a few other gyms but I like this one the best.

Decently nice gym. Grades seem consistent with what I'd expect. As an out-of-towner, there's only four autobelays which cover 3~4 routes each. Decent variety but the hardest was only 5.10d. It'd be nice if they had a couple 11s on autobelay but that's fine. Routes were interesting and required more thought than just a mindless jughaul. Bouldering area seemed great but that's just not really my thing. Downside is that the gym seems a little smaller than what I'm used to and it's a little older than some others.
