I have had other personal trainers in the past that pale in comparison to Richard- he's one of one. I have never experienced the level of strength and progress I've achieved in only a few months of training. I see Richard twice a week and consistently perform better in all other facets of my life (work, life, relationships). It is the best investment you could ever make for yourself and your loved ones.

I trained with Richard at Hawk Fitness for 9 months, and it was truly a game-changer. When we started, I could barely lift 10-pound dumbbells for bicep curls — by the end, I was curling 30! I went from doing zero push-ups to 40 Classic Push-Ups in a single session. My leg strength improved dramatically, which showed in my Peloton rides at home and Spark Cycle classes. I also slimmed down in my lower back and hips, and just felt stronger in every way.
From day one, Richard was personable, approachable, and made me feel comfortable trying new exercises. He has an incredible ability to know when to challenge me or adjust for safety — always pushing me toward progress without making me feel discouraged. I’ve never worked harder in the gym, but I’ve also never enjoyed it more.
This gym and level of personal training are rare finds. Since moving out of state, I haven’t found anything that matches Hawk Fitness — even the rates can’t be beat. If you want real results and a trainer who will support you every step of the way, I can’t recommend Richard enough.

Working with Richard is the best! I didn't really know anything about building muscle or strength or just how much I could change my body with small, sustainable adjustments until we started working together. I have been working with Richard for just over three years. I came to him in October of 2021 as a 32-year-old man who was in the worst shape of his life. Some background: for approximately 15 years, I had been on medication for a chronic illness that caused muscle atrophy, and it left me very weak. This weakness impacted my personal confidence, which was also at an all-time low. A few weeks prior to visiting Richard for the first time, my condition improved, and I was taken off the medication. My doctor suggested that I try to gain back some of the muscle mass that had wasted. Over the past three years, Richard has had to essentially "rebuild" me from scratch, as I had no prior experience weightlifting. I had always been a bit too self-conscience for the gym.
Richard saw me (and still does) two to three times per week. I appreciate his flexibility - he is always willing to make sure that if our usual meeting time doesn't work for some reason, that we can make it up later in the week. During these workouts, Richard pushes me to limits I am unable to reach when working out alone. I am happy to share that not only have I regained muscle mass that the medication had taken from me, but I have also added a good amount more than I thought was possible for me back in 2022. When I look at myself in the mirror, I no longer see a weak dude with small arms and a big stomach. Instead, I look like someone who hits the gym regularly. I am proud of the muscle I have built, and excited to continue working with Richard to build more.
In addition to building muscle, Richard has also helped me improve my diet and build confidence. This confidence has improved other aspects of my life. I recently started playing ice hockey again, a sport that I loved as a child, but that I stopped entirely for almost 15 years due to health issues. I would recommend Richard and Hawk Fitness to anyone who is looking for a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable personal trainer with a ton of experience. Signing up for classes with Richard was the single best decision that I have made for my health. Thanks so much man!

Hawk Fitness is amazing! I trained here with Richard for around two years. The only reason I stopped was because I had to move for a job. I started training not really knowing anything about how to take care of myself and really only had a goal of getting healthier. After some time training here and learning to love working out through personalized and private instruction, I began to have specific goals of gaining more muscle mass and improving my pickleball game. Richard helped me achieve all of my goals. I am very grateful for the time I had at Hawk Fitness. All of the trainers here are extremely knowledgeable and kind. They really care about you and your progress and they all love what they do. I have no doubt that the trainers here can help you achieve your goals too. This place is perfect for all kinds of people and all levels of training, beginner to professional. If you live around the North Park area and are looking for personalized training, this place is worth every penny!

Richard is great, he is nice, caring, and even funny, all you can ask for in a personal trainer, but the best thing about him is he LISTENS. He does not do the same workout with me as everyone else. He has plenty of experience and is able to easily customize and change my workout to what I'm feeling, whether I'm preparing to go on a ski trip, I'm grieving a death or I just want to be fit and active and need a push. I worked out with Richard about 10 years ago for about a year, and now again in his new space for about 2 years, so I am obviously a satisfied customer. I have worked out with about 6 different very good personal trainers in my life (I'm now 58)...Richard is the best I have had. It's a great space with lots of different equipment, not too hot, or cold, music when I need it, clean, organized and good energy.

I am not the person that loves to go to the gym but I cannot overstate how bearable and downright pleasant Rich makes working out. I have been working out with him for about a year and a half now and I have come so far. He has trained me to the point where, in that amount of time, I have reached my ideal body weight and have now started to build muscle. I have never felt so fit and healthy in my adult life. Personal training is expensive and there are a lot of bogus people out there willing to take your money so you really do need to make sure you are making the right choice when choosing one. Rich could not come more highly recommended in my opinion. He has successfully progressed my workouts over the past 18 months to tailor them to my ability. He has also skillfully maneuvered around an underlying neck and knee injury in that that time. He creates personalized workout plans that challenge and motivate me. I really love that I don’t have to do anything but show up and put in the work. This takes all of the guesswork out of what exercises I need, at what weight, and for how long…priceless when you’re busy or lazy or both like me.
Rich is also super knowledgeable about nutrition, stretches, muscle recovery, and wellness in general. Working out with him has been one of the best choices I’ve made. I thought physically getting back to my pre-baby self was a pipe-dream but I am happy to report that it is possible and it wasn’t even that bad. Whether you are looking to achieve specific goals or just overall lead a healthier life, this is an investment well worth the cost. Go workout with Richard! You’ll love it!!

Richard has helped me get back into shape and feeling confident. Been with him for about a year and a half and only regret is I didn't start sooner. There's other knowledgeable, personable trainers at the gym if you don't like tall, charming, positive British dudes. Would highly recommend this gym!
