HB Strength is an amazing gym!

I’ve been coming here for about three months now, and I absolutely love it. It’s a small gym, but it’s never too crowded, and the 24-hour access is perfect for my schedule—I can go whenever I have the time.

I joined after being in a car accident that kept me from working out for almost a year, so I was basically starting from scratch again. I worked with one of the trainers, Tim, and he was incredible. He helped me rebuild strength safely and got me back on track. I still have a little way to go before I’m back to my pre-accident shape, but I’m feeling stronger every week and genuinely enjoying the process.

What I appreciate most is the vibe—this is NOT a big commercial gym where everyone is filming themselves or posing for social media. People here come to work out, stay focused, and support a real gym environment. It feels comfortable and motivating.
I highly recommend HB Strength to anyone looking for a serious but welcoming place to train!

During my holiday visit in Huntington Beach I was very pleased with HB Strength Co. I just wanted to have a quick workout for a reasonable price and no unnecessary contracts connected to it. The day-pass could be bought easily and the process was very seemless and worth the value for money. I moved to Huntington in August 2024 and literally signed up for HB Strength the day I arrived — best decision I could’ve made.

First of all, the convenience is unbeatable. It’s walking distance from where I live, which makes staying consistent so much easier. But what really sets HB Strength apart is the overall vibe. - Floors are pretty dirty (but equipment is fine)
- they don't have all of the equipment options as commercial gyms so you need to get creative sometimes (not as bad as it sounds)

I was admittedly a bit intimidated to begin working out at a gym for the first time ever but this gym is small and welcoming! I’ve started personal training with Tim, and he is able to meet me where I am at in terms of skill level (or lack thereof), explain everything in basic terms, and his guidance makes me confident I’m not as risk of injury even without experience. I’m not looking for a total body transformation, just to start exercising and get healthier and this gym is very supportive of that goal. Highly recommend.

Pros:

After graduating college I started my first 9-5 office job and, even though I love my job, I am no longer an active athlete or able to coach the way I was before while in school. I knew that the athletic mentality was something that I just could not live without so I began the search for ways to weave it back into my life.

I tried a few different studios and classes, but there was still something missing. Seeing as I work just up the street from The Training Spot's Gothard location, I saw it in passing and decided to look into it. After meeting with Paul, Matt, and Maddie, and seeing the facility I knew this was going to be the place for me. From the second that you walk into The Training Spot you feel like you are apart of a family where everyone is working towards very similar goals.

I have been working out at The Training Spot for a little over a month now (3 days a week) with Maddie and she is absolutely amazing! I feel as though Maddie not only understand the human body in general, but fully understands what my goals and aspirations are while working out at the T-Spot. As someone who has grown up with an athletic mentality I know that deep down someone other than myself can push me to my true limits, and that is what Maddie does for me every morning. Maybe the most important thing is the t-Spot changed my life! I started almost 5 years ago because I was kinda talked into it. Sure I was fat, hurt in way too many places but hey, I was living the good life! Today I am 30 pounds lighter and in the best shape in my life (okay for the last 4 decades anyway). I am pretty much the furthest thing away from a "gym person." I came to the training spot incredibly out of shape, about 25 pounds overweight, and incredibly intimidated to get started. So far in a little over a month, I've lost about 15 pounds, have quit drinking daily, and am eating healthy again. I look forward to see where I am in a few more months! I could not have found a better gym to call my home. Not only does the Training Spot have excellent trainers and customer service, but they have such a warm and welcoming community. I feel excited to come here and see all of my friends, I really feel like a part of the family. I've also had tremendous success with their balanced habit program and feel like I'm finally starting to eat healthy as well as exercising. It's surprising how easy it feels because of all of the support I have here.

I stopped by The Training Spot last November looking for something different. 14 plus years of martial arts training had taken its toll on my knees so I was a little skeptical as to how I could train effectively with these injuries. I initially met with Paul and he introduced me to Diane. I am so glad he did! Diane has been able to dish out intensive workouts and strengthen the muscles around my knees at the same time. I have come a long way from a year ago, feel great and have leaned out. The atmosphere is friendly and conducive to smart, intensive training. This is the kind of gym everyone should have. The trainers are great, the people you work out with become some of your best friends at events and boot camps. Everyone knows everyone here and is supporting each other to become the better you. I go to their boot camps and soon will start training sessions. They kick my butt every time, but it also looks soo much better then when I started so I'm grateful for what I like to call my happy pain. I tried their Takedown challenge this September and lost 18lbs in 4 weeks, which was insane, but what's even more amazing is that I'm still going. They helped me build a better lifestyle through the challenge and what is teaches you and now I know how to make all kinds of good decisions when it comes to food and my body. After years of hating my body and having a poor relationship with food, I decided in early 2016 I was going to make a change. I lost a significant amount of weight through a restrictive diet and tons stressful workouts. When I moved to California last year I chose Training Spot because I wanted to overcome my fear of regaining the weight, and to learn a how to take ownership of a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

Diet
The Balanced Habits Life program, weekly meetings over three months with Andrea, I worked through my anxiety of eating out and when travelling for work. I learned eating the right foods at the right frequency and portions makes a huge difference, and that it’s easy if you have a plan. Andrea and the team have been an incredible support through this major hurdle. I feel so much more confident about keeping the weight off because of the habits I’ve built.

Exercise
I have been transformed both physically and mentally working with Evan at Training Spot. Working out used to be a stress inducing chore. I was constantly comparing myself to other people in the gym and beating myself up for not making more progress. Since coming to Training Spot and working with Evan on my individual goals, I am empowered to continue strengthening my body and mind. Working out as an individual with knowledgeable coaching from Evan has completely changed my mindset. The gym is now a place where I can relieve stress and invest in my wellbeing. With Evan’s coaching I met my most recent goal, to feel strong and beautiful on my wedding day, and to wear a bikini on my honeymoon.

I joined the t spot in January of this year. After spending the last 8 years either pregnant or breastfeeding one of my three children, to say I neglected fitness was a gross understatement. I ate rather healthy but was still left tired, holding on to weight and lacking strength.

I knew I had to do something if I wanted to be the mother I wanted to be and the person I wanted to take into the next decades of my life. A trainer at a box gym wouldn’t work for me. I’d never stick to going to classes. I looked for an alternative and stumbled upon the T Spot.

I joined when the kick start program was about to begin (lucky coincidence!). I was skeptical, especially because after dealing with an eating disorder for my teens and early 20s, I simply don’t diet or restrict as a rule. I was nervous for more than not being able to hack it. I was nervous for my mental well being.

Needless to say, I was more than pleased with the program. It is a nutrition plan, not a diet. It does exactly as it advertises: it is a way of life that maximizes your own body’s potential to operate at its peak performance level. And - you lose weight and inches! In the first two weeks of kick start, I lost an inch off my jeans size.

As for the strength training portion of my program, I have never felt in more capable hands. All of the staff are knowledgeable. The workouts vary and keep me interested.

If I were ever worried about motivation, my trainer Evan has it covered. He cheers me on. Encourages me. Checks in with me. And best of all, deals with my disorganization around my erratic schedule!

The whole premise of the T Spot is simply to help you succeed in your health goals. They’ll stop at nothing to get you there! It has been my pleasure and a blessing to have found a place that I could begin and continue to grow my fitness journey. Thank you T Spot!

In the past, I had done my own cardio and weights but I wanted someone with expert knowledge to get me to the next level. In joining the Training Spot, I got that and a lot more. I’ve been working with Aaron for eight weeks now and I can already feel a difference with my workouts that I couldn’t get on my own. He varies the exercises constantly and customizes them for my goals and for how my body feels on a given day. Aaron has a great knack for knowing when and how to push me in a way for me to succeed, not fail. He’s also super patient with all my questions on what and why we are doing things so I am confident that I am optimizing my time during the workouts. I like that he doesn’t hover over me and I know he’s paying attention with comments from across the floor and occasional 1x1 time too. In addition to that, I’ve connected with many other staff there and chat about making sure my nutrition is in sync with my workouts and my goals. Before joining, I was at a "Boot Camp" type of gym and it just seemed with so many people, there was no one to watch my form (and I ended up hurting my neck). Matt F., Stevie and crew at T.S. are the best! They have helped me so much - since 2013. The trainers really care about their clients; they take the time to find out what your goals are and then set out to help you achieve them. The workouts are customized - to get the best results. They don't ignore your injuries or push you to do something that could potentially hurt you. Rather, they focus on correcting imbalances and strengthening weak muscles that could be causing problems. Even though there is serious training going on, the gym atmosphere is fun, friendly and inviting. It's not like one of those gyms that makes you feel like an outcast because you don't know how to do a proper deadlift!

Not only is the training first rate, but they also offer a nutritional program which I think most gyms neglect. If you want to look great, feel great and have fun doing it I would recommend training at the T-Spot.

My personal trainer there has always been Matt Fetters. He’s a well practiced nutritionist and an absolute animal in the gym. He’s a guy who understands the balance of wellness between a healthy lifestyle and exercise. The catch here is that he’s able to identify with the real life environment of bad influences from loving friends. You know, that beer that’s forced on you that shouldn’t be drank. Or that second cheat meal you ate at the fair cause deep fried Oreos are awesome. He gets it. He may not do it himself but he won’t hold it against you. He will however work you a bit harder your next visit. He’s an assertive guy who happens to see something in you you don’t actually see yourself sometimes. Give him a little bit, he’ll pull the best out of you. If you’re looking for a low key gym to call home, call the T Spot. I highly recommend it!

My introduction to Tspot started with the Takedown Challenge which I completed earlier this year. The TD Challenge is, I hesitate to use the word diet, more a healthy eating program which introduces you to healthier eating and eating foods in the correct quantities at the correct times. One of the reasons that I like it is that its a sensible approach to food, your whole body and it takes a holistic view of how to eat while reducing weight. No fads or weird stuff, just sensible, professional advice.

For me I personally lost about 14 lb in 4 weeks but the TDC gave me the skills and knowledge to take it further and I achieved my goal weight another 4 weeks later and lost a total of 24lb. More importantly it gave me the knowledge to look at foods, read and understand the labels and plan my eating making much better choices.

In addition to the healthy eating they also provided the opportunity to take part in walks and their bootcamp fitness program. I highly recommend this and I train 3 times a week with a regular group of great people and it has already raised my fitness and energy levels in the short period I have been going. These are no pressure sessions that you can take part in at your own pace which I think are great.

The thing is this is a change for life and not just 4 weeks. Embrace it, take control of your own life and body.

I’ve been an extremely happy TSpot client for several years. I’ve maintained this relationship because I appreciate their holistic approach to training and nutrition. The trainers are excellent and they tailor their training to the needs of each client in the semi-private sessions. My trainer, Matt Fetters, is fantastic. He understands my fitness goals and is dedicated to helping me reach them with his knowledge, guidance and encouragement. The TSpot clients are wonderful and give this gym a very user friendly and non-intimidating atmosphere. We are all there to get the most from our training sessions and often cheer and inspire each other. The nutrition plan the TSpot offers is one that is easy to follow and teaches the participants to lose weight by making better nutritional choices whether eating at home or in restaurants. Carolyn’s recipes are incredibly delicious, easy to prepare, and can be integrated in the schedule of participants who work full-time. I am truly a TSpot fan and will continue my relationship. irst, a brief description of myself. I am a 64 year old male that does not feel that old mentally or physically. I was an athlete in high school and college and have always been very active in sports. Skiing, surfing, water sports, biking hunting, fishing and hiking etc. The truth is though, like so many other people I hated going to the gym and working out. Though I stayed active, since I turned 50, I slowed down and I put on about 23 pounds. I drank too much, socially but too much, ate healthy 90% of the time but ate too much and that, added to the other 10% of the time I didn't eat right got me to where I was on April 1, 2014. The Achilles Heal. Nothing special about that date in particular except it was April fools Day. LOL Little did I know. But that morning I took a look at myself, a real hard look. I looked at myself in the mirror and was really tired of seeing this over weight man. I looked at myself emotionally and was tired of not feeling my best mentally and I was tired of who I had become. Someone that longed to be in better shape but only complained about it but did nothing to change it. I have a beautiful wife that is 20 years younger than me. I also have a beautiful daughter and three great grand children. I want to live as long as I can in good physical, mental and emotional health so I can be the best husband, father and grand father they deserve.

I decided to do something about this dilemma. But something was different this time. I didn't just want to loose 20 pounds, reach a short term goal and resort to my old bad habits. I wanted a complete life style and attitude change. I knew joining a gym for the masses was not the answer this time. That is a road I had traveled before and it just led me back to where I had started, like a big loop on a trail head. I needed a gym that offered the complete package. One that had trained, professional, educated, friendly people that really took an interest in my goals and objectives and one that had a proven track record. I found the Training spot by researching gyms on the internet. I went to the Training Spot gym on Gothard and met with the owner, Paul Fetters. I liked what I heard but it was a big investment compared to the gyms that you can join for next to nothing. I decided to give it a try.

I joined the Training Spot gym on May 13 and did my first session with my personal trainer Barrett on May 15. I also signed up for a 28 day program called the Take Down Challenge that focuses on nutrition, proportion control and making healthy choices. This was absolutely one of the very best decisions of my life. (Right below marrying you Babe). Today is June 14. In just 32 days I have lost 15 pounds, sensibly with proper nutrition and exercise. I have lost over 4 inches off my waist. I'm not sure what percentage of body fat yet but they are going to tell me. My energy level is over the top, my stamina is better, I'm getting stronger every week, I'm sleeping better and I'm more focused than ever. The staff at the Training are super. They are friendly and make you feel welcomed and that they are truly happy about helping you meet your goals and objectives. And one of the biggest surprises so far is that the strength training and other work outs are fun, educational and they work.

If your wanting to make a big positive change in your life and you want to get in the best shape of your life go see the people at the Training Spot. I cannot say enough about this small, personal service gym in Huntington Beach.This is a life time commitment for me and I realize it is a continuous road that never ends. But it's not about the designation anyway. It's all about the adventure of the journey. I am a satisfied customer and part of the Training Spot family.

Well, I've just completed my 3rd month as a Training Spot member and here's where I stand...

Basically, I've joined a lot of gyms in my life. A lot. Equinox, 24 Hour Fitness, etc... My wife likes to call me a "Very enthusiastic gym joiner" with the implied message that I don't tend to do much more than join. It's a bit of an exaggeration but not far off the mark. I hate working out. I hate going to the gym. I hate people who like to go to the gym. But I've put on an extra 20lbs over the last ten years and was starting to get worried about how much I was huffing and puffing after playing for ten minutes with my daughter.

So I signed-up and have been pretty much faithfully training with Barrett at the TS Main Street location. The result is that I'm probably in the best shape of my life already. Granted, it wasn't too high of a bar to climb over, but the fact that I've been consistently showing up and working out hard three days a week really feels like a miracle to both myself and my wife who, at first, was a little worried about the not incidental expense of group training vs. a simple gym membership. But so far we both consider it one of the best investments of my 40-something life.

I think the key for anyone like myself, who wants to get in shape but just hates the mere thought of going to the gym, is that the scheduled trainer-led groups of 5 or 6 people means I have an obligation to show up. It also means that I won't just wander around casually jumping on some random machine after another, but have a focused pro showing me what to do and tracking my progress. I need that. While not "cheap", it's a much more reasonable alternative to the crazy expense of private personal training.

I'm now about to embark on the month-long Takedown Challenge which is a combo nutrition/fitness/weight-loss program which I hope will help me get a little more serious about the diet portion of my regimen and drop the extra fat from my mid-section.

I highly recommend the Training Spot for anyone else who wants to make a change and finally get (back) in the shape they want to be in.

The Training Spot is one of the few training gyms in Orange County that care about your body, mind and reaching your goals. This isn't a gym that just gets to sign up and pay then forgets about you. Th T-Spot trainers work hard around your bodies limitations and injuries from other activities and make sure that you are getting the maximum benefit from you time in their gym. All trainers are extremely well knowledgeable and educated in their field. I work out extremely hard and it shows! I always have complements on my arms waist and abs. And yes it feels good. once I built the muscle then next thing to do is burn the fat so the muscles can be seen. The Take Down Challenge does that in just 4 very short weeks. You not only lose 10%+ of your body fat but you also change your eating habits so it stays off. The recipes that you make at home or so good that my family not only eats them when I am on the challenge but also requests them consistently! The recipes and the way of eating is great but it would be nothing without the strong support from ALL at the T-Spot. Thinking of a place to really get in shape? Try the T-Spot. You won't be disappointed.

Often the best place is the jewel right under your nose. T-Spot downtown is just a few short blocks from the pier and I'd passed it hundreds of times walking downtown always curious what was inside. When I finally got the courage to go inside it changed my life. Before T-Spot going to the gym meant cardio machines, weights and long waits to use them. T-Spot is different. Yes, all the machines are there but NOT the lines because T-Spot is personal training at its best. Matt, Paul and all the staff are amazing. They know me by name and treat me as family. Before joining Paul sat down and listened to my needs. Then Matt and all the staff worked to make the experience personal, challenging and fun. They take the guess work out of workouts, boot camps and nutrition providing full benefit from every workout. Before T-Spot the idea of exercise and nutrition was confusing and exhausting. Now I can't wait to get in and get going. If your looking for a truly different kind of exercise experience T-Spot is THE place to go.

Hi all :) For those of you who already train at the training spot...I am preaching to the choir :))
So, I started training about 9 months ago. I just wanted to tone up. That is just what I got. Not only does the training spot provide a professional yet fun environment, they take the time to know who you are, your goals and how to optimally reach them. Mat has been an amazing trainer these last 9 months. He has pushed me and reminded me of my very own goals, which we all need some (a lot) of the times. Not only just keeping me on track, but adjusting work outs with education to train safely with minor injuries. Where I have been trained before and the trainer had no concern of injuring at times furthering an injury. Training at the training spot is like being a part of a great family. I appreciate the clean, professional fun environment, while having a well educated trainer keep me on track with my goals. I would 100% recommend training here if you truly have the desire to meet your goals and be a part of an amazing facility and family! You will not be disappointed :))

Ten months ago I signed up for the Take Down Challenge offered by the Training Spot in Huntington Beach. To be completely honest I began with a very skeptical attitude. Ten months later I am pleased to enthusiatically recommend the entire T Spot team, and all their services.

During the Take Down Challenge I learned a lot of very practical, very sustainable things about nutrition and weight loss, and successfully lost 12 pounds. After the Take Down Challenge I signed up to participate in the daily Push Fitness Bootcamps offered by the T Spot and I have had great success training in the gym twice a week for the last six months.

My personal results have been great - more than 35 pounds lost so far - and I am very grateful for the help and support I have received. I whole-heartedly recommend the T Spot. Give it a try - you will not be disappointed.

I have just celebrated my one year anniversary of push fitness boot camp! When my daughter-in-law and I started in June of last year, we originally were going to do twice a week. We both loved it so much, we ended up going full time!! What I love most about boot camp is that it is outdoors! Right now is the best time of year to get started. Lots of fresh air and sunshine, great class times, 6:00am, 8:45am and 5:30pm. The instructors change it up all the time with different exercises and all kinds of equipment! I am never bored in class, and I have never been this fit!!

I have been attending the push fitness classes for a little over a year now and recently started private training at the The Training Spot ("T-Spot"). The staff at the "T-Spot" is one of the most genuine, caring and attentive you will encounter in the industry. I have successfully lost 45 lbs in the last year and kept it off – all thanks to the guidance, encouragement and knowledge of the "T-Spot." The nutrition program and the Take Down Challenge (“TDC”) is unlike anything else I have tried – and it can only be found at "T-Spot" – it is amazing – truly amazing – I participated in the September 2012 “TDC” and shed 20 lbs in just 28 days which kick started my current achievement in total weight loss…not to mention I made many lifelong friends. I can't say how blessed I feel to have such a wonderful group of supportive people around me especially when I am not really “feeling” up for it, and believe me, sometimes you just don’t feel up to it. I know from personal experience how hard it is to get started - but that's 97% of the battle....all you have to do is show up - you'll never say "I'm sorry I did that" about a workout at the "T-Spot" or when you attend a Push Fitness class!! One of my newly adopted life rules / sayings (provided by one of the trainers of the “T-Spot”) is "Train INSANE or remain the SAME!” I Love it and Live it! Paul Fetters has created a truly unique environment for training that others are trying to duplicate. T spot is an awesome experience. The trainers are like family and are very concerned about their client experience. The two gyms have equipment that are in excellent condition. Plenty of water, clean towels, bathroom, etc. The Main Street location is in the heart of downtown Huntington and has a beach like atmosphere. I have to give a plug for my man Matt Fetters. He works me hard and protects my back. He does his dad proud. If you are looking for a personal trainer, T spot has got the right one for you. Another bonus, the AMS diet. Carolyn Fetters has excellent recipes that will trim you down. Between the Gyms, the Takedowns, and the Boot Camps, The Training Spot has it all with the bonus of special attention from trainers and nutritrionalists that care.

Hello SoCal, I've been an active member/bootcamper with the Training Spot for well over a year now and I have to say a HUGE thank you to the trainers and the owners of T-Spot, they have truly changed my life. I've lost over 50lbs thanks to them.

The bootcamps are amazing, they really kick butt. Each instructor has a different style and they're at different times so, it's convenient for most everyone. They don't treat you like you're in the army making you feel 2 inches tall..they treat you with compassion, sometimes HARSH compassion! But they are there striving to help you succeed and reach your ultimate goals.

The training sessions are awesome as well, they really zero in and focus on each individual there, they don't treat you like a number compared to all the local gyms out there. And they also don't treat you like self employed personal trainers do, where you're just a dollar sign. Their facilities are very clean, personable and they have anything and everything you could ever need there.

I highly recommend their Take Down Challenge, it's FUN, challenging, you learn a ton, and it gives you the opportunity to explore how your body works in a fast and healthy way. And all while meeting new people, learning new tricks and trying new recipes! Definitely worth 'the challenge'.

The people at Training Spot truly CARE about you and your well being; they don't give you one fish for lunch... they teach you HOW to fish so you have that knowledge for life. They are influencing this country one person at a time, helping the common person overcome the challenges that our society force feeds us on a daily basis.

The only downer, is that they only have 2 locations. But thank God they have those! :)

If your serious, then seriously call them. They will devise a plan with you that works. PERIOD. Thanks T-Spot!!!!
