I love Hollywood Boxing Gym. I’ve been torching 1300 calories a session—no joke. The classes are challenging and high-energy, the sparring is intense (in the best way), and the community is top-notch. Everyone’s friendly, supportive, and there to put in the work. I love this gym so much. It opens up at 6 am when I normally train. It's not like those other gyms that everybody needs to show off. It reminds me of a Powerhouse gym or a Golds gym. Check this place out it's amazing

I was sick of how crowded LA fitness was and decided to cancel. I had always walked by Hollywood gym and it looked like a nice little older gym with very few people working out in it. I decided to give it a try and paid the $20 to work out for the day and my experience wasn’t great. It was about 75° outside at 8 PM and walking into the gym It was noticeably hotter, at least 80° plus which I started sweating before I even started the workout. I paid the money and asked the front desk attendant if there was Wi-Fi access in the gym and he said there was not. The Wi-Fi access isn’t a dealbreaker, but I use my really old iPhone SE (with no Sim card)as kind of a iPod so it was just something I noted. I then went into the locker room to change and noticed that the entire locker room smelled like marijuana. I started working out, which was uncomfortable because of the heat and kind of eerie because there was hardly anybody there and asked a couple of people if they ever turn on the AC. The people I asked informed me that the gym either does not have AC or it’s never turned on. Then when I was leaving, I walked up to the front desk to ask, a couple of questions where two people were waiting with no front desk attendant to be found… maybe we were smoking pot in the locker room…? I then left with the clear impression that I would have to continue my search for a new gym. Honestly if they turned on the air conditioning and lowered their price to $35 a month for just the weights with no BS corporate money shenanigans, I think a lot more people would join. As it stands right now it’s too expensive for what it is and too hot to comfortably workout.

A flashback to a bygone era. Gyms are getting more trendy, sophisticated and on-brand, seeking to attract influencer types and a generation of people who have developed body dsymorohia from Instagram. This is especially true in West Hollywood and Hollywood, perhaps the most body-conscious neighborhoods in California, the most body-consvioud state. The chain and boutique gyms in WeHo and Hollywoo tend to be a scene, meat markets to the max.

Hollywood Gym is not like that. It is no frills and strictly for serious lifters and athletes, and I don't mean the rich kind who can afford nutritionists, biohacking, and trainers. I mean the guys who learned by doing and are there to workout, not to socialize.

Thus, some will find the gym equipment and layout outdated. The lack of AC is certainly trying at times. But if you can't get a focused workout here, you can't get a focused workout anywhere.

Love the compartmentalized lay-out of this 3-4 storey gym. Great for privacy work-outs, where you can really focus on your specific work-out. Open till midnight 12AM even weekends, conveniently located. Complete, clean work-out machines and the dumbbells are well-stocked. Has a hot dry Sauna, showers as well. 👍👍

I’m partial to this gym because I was an original member even before this gym was in this location. It was originally at the NE corner of La Brea and Hawthorn in the early 90s. One very small floor. I remember Sarah and Jamie from here who were awesome!! The parking lot was across the street where now resides a big residential building. It was a fun gym then I when they moved I was still a member for a while.

Besides the unfortunate reality that I was charged for over 15 months after thinking I cancelled, I have to say this place was a cost effective workout gem with high cleanliness standards. I also loved watching all the despondent unemployed actors jogging by as I worked out.

Since my review I have been harassed. Suddenly my bike is in the wrong place and I don't clean up after myself. I tried to cancell membership, however my payment in full is non-refundable. You are better served at any number of other gyms.

Update: gym is not open 24hrs. Not sure when the hours will revert back to pre-covid operation. It's a bit of a bummer. I have tried to reach out to management via email twice and Facebook once. I have not received any response. We were told by staff that it would be around the state re-opening. I feel a bit mislead considering I paid (and have done so for several years) for 12 months in advance. Some other members have received several free month as compensation, however I have not had any response. I really love this gym and hope to hear from management and to see the gym back to its hours. I understand the covid new normal, just miss being able to continue early workouts based on my late work schedule.

I have been a member for last 2 months and like it much. They have good quality work out equipment and a lot cardio machines too. Parking is great. There’ is always plenty equipment free anytime of day.

The locker and bathroom facilities are nice and easy to get in and timely.

Hours are great and it’s open the latest and the most hours anywhere in West Hollywood and Hollywood area.

I was at 24 prior but have changed 2 here. I like working here now including hours are much better at Hollywood Gym.

Hollywood Gym is better is and way better the Planet Fitness and has much better quality gym equipment

There is no contract is just pay for month.

I enjoyed my time and needed to cancel my membership. I was under the impression that everything was complete until I visited months later with a few of my friends to train for the day. Long story short, my dues added up the months I was gone, claimed I owe over $180. The employee’s were accommodating but the manager was hostile and talked over me. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. They literally did all of that in front of my friends and not only lost a returning customer, but ruined their chances of potential customers. I was extremely respectful and was willing to pay a portion but we went back and forth for an hour. Not happy with how they handled my situation.

I'd describe it as a scrapper's gym. It's got everything, with some wear and tear. It's maintained, otherwise the equipment wouldn't work properly. It's not pretty. But I feel that's kinda the point. I like there boxing room.

Way to expensive for such a run down gym. They have jacked up the prices for both people looking to train and their trainers. For a boxing gym their boxing ring is terrible, I don't care what it looks like, the canvas is all loose and dangerous. The only good thing is that there is plenty of bags to work on because anyone that wants a fair price and decent equipment has left for other gyms. I have no idea how they are still open when there are so several better and less expensive boxing gyms in the same neighborhood.

The bathroom is super gross. The facility is extremely old. It's totally overpriced. Also if you want to be treated like you owe the owner $1000 a year this is your perfect choice. Be ready to be forced to sign nonsense contract even if you don't want to. Never hire any trainer there. Never. Once you sign up one the only thing you get is $1000+ bill every month which you can never get rid of when you don't see it effective later.

Stopped in for a late workout on my recent trip to LA and found exactly the environment I was looking for! This gym is in the top three of favorite gyms I've ever been to. This is a lifters gym and has anything and everything you could possibly need. If you're in the area I'd definitely suggest checking it out!

Worst gym I been to, I was considering in getting a membership there, I walked up to the front receptionist desk, ask if I can get a tour of the gym. The women told me I can't leave the front desk, but you can walk around yourself, with a dismissive and rude attitude. Lol.. Ok so I guest I have to sell a membership to myself huh. As I was walking around alone, the gym and equipment was old out of date and disgusting. And to top it off, the attitude from the staff to the customer. Apparently this gym seemed to be selective with who the want there, I'm not sure if it was the color of my skin or whatever they thought my race was, I believe who ever is running this gym needs to redesign the gym and the staff because from what I analyzed. They were being racist, tours me in a quiet way, and the reason why I'm saying this is because, I read people for a living and I make a lot of money doing. So who ever reads my review don't get a membership there it's not worth it and it's not good to support or encourage an atmosphere like that.

BTW I ended up getting a membership with one of the bigger players in this field, same price better attitude, clean gym and more to offer for the same monthly price.

We liked this place because it's 24 hours. The equipment isn't that great but there's a lot in there. The maintenance staff is really nice to us but we've had some issues with management. I asked to put our membership on hold while we were on vacation and we were charged anyway. We were told we either had to accept the payment or get a refund which would take almost a month to get back. We left.

Its an old school gym not a fitness spa but a place you go to do real work and get results. No the equipment isn't the prettiest its the kind that gets results. And the best thing about this gym is the people. From the employees that know your name to fellow members who aren't pretentious or jerks like some of the other area big name gyms. This place rocks.

I've been going for about 6 months. it's just a gym..period. Great selection of equipment. Awesome free weights selection both upstairs and down. No frills, rarely crowded .. no dorks yammering on the phone not working out on equipment when you're wanting to train. They have awesome kick boxing and Jitsu classes on the 3rd floor and are open 24 hrs a day for cheap. All you need if you're serious about fitness.
