I absolutely love Hot Elevation Studios, and I especially want to give kudos to Katie for her Hot Bar 45 class — it's my favorite! Katie is a true rockstar. This class is incredible — so much fun and always so effective. I appreciate how she focuses on different parts of the body every Wednesday, making each session unique and challenging. If you're looking for an excellent workout, especially for your legs, this class is perfect. Just a heads-up to sign up early because it fills up quickly. Thank you so much, Katie, for being such an amazing person and an even more fantastic teacher. You genuinely make every class a highlight of my week!!!!

I've attended classes at Hot Elevation since the studio opened, maybe 12 or more years ago? I've watched it transform from just one practice space to adding the warm and cycle rooms. I don't think there is a studio (heated) with this diversity of classes (barre, HIIT, yoga, mat pilates and cycling) and the number of classes in the area. As someone with a busy schedule I appreciate the large offering of classes.

I've had really great instructors over the years, some are still here! I certainly have my favorite instructors and classes and have migrated more into the warm room but I really appreciate the option to have classes in the hot and warm rooms. My current favorite classes are barre and HIIT. The rooms and equipment are cleaned after each class because it does get quite sweaty. (That's the practice!)The women's changing and shower area can get crowded during the busy time but its usually manageable.

This studio is fantastic! It's sad to see so many negative reviews. Hot Elevation Studios has full schedules daily of an eclectic mix of many classes of many modalities. Cycle, Barre, Pilates, Sculpt, Yoga, HITT and more. I particularly enjoy Mara's classes (especially Saturday Barre, hope to see you there!). Mara was named by Good Times Magazine as one of the top yoga teachers in Santa Cruz, for good reason!

I have also been able to attend classes by Wesley, Lee, Michelle, Tate and Bijou, who are all masterful in their own right.

The staff behind the counter is super friendly. I have some of my best workouts here and hope people will drop in and check it out!

Barre+sculpt in the wäarm room was absolute perfection: pilates + light weights + bar + stretch + light heat, and I was still dripping! Bravo, Mara!

However, the hot [steam!] room: oh HELL no. Stepped in, felt the choking heat + humidity, saw the literal puddles covering the floor, and walked right back out.

Great teachers, good vibes, and the super hot and steamy rooms that really do the job!! I leave there sweating/ drenched from head to toe and the rest of the day I feel like I’ve gotten a deep tissue massage and brain massage. They do excellent classes and I keep coming back for more!

The hot room is not ventilated…takes awhile to get used to it. It’s also very slippery as the humidity is not controlled. You begin sweating before you even start Yoga. Once i got used to this, which was about 3 weeks, i could make it through an entire class. One is allowed to do 2 or 3 classes in a row. You can just put your mat in the back of the room, and you are allowed to take a spot for the next class before anyone else is allowed in the room. If you're one that uses the bar, thats never guaranteed. The warm room is definitely just warm . If you're looking for a sweat, best to go in the hot room. I didn't try the cycling so I'm not able to make a review on that. Its nice to always get a parking spot, and have a shower!

I had a really great experience here. It was my first time ever doing hot yoga. The instructor Nancy was amazing and very encouraging! I highly recommend trying her class.

They have a policy that if you are sick you cannot come to class, but then charge you because you are sick. They would rather have students throwing up in a heated room than care about the students safety, and keeping the studios clean of vomit.

They also won't offer calls during calls during "normal business hours", per their VM, so you can never reach them. They expect you to email them, but it takes hours to get replies.

If you want abs, take pilates with Rae. I would follow her into the gates of hell. High intensity but absolutely worth every second. The staff is beyond friendly and attentive/accommodating, everything is clean, and the energy of everyone who works at this studio or attends classes is AMAZING and will bring you back with just that alone.

There are a handful of reasons why I would leave a lower review, but the main reason I feel inclined to say something is because of an in-class experience. I took Thomas’s class, and it was my first class after having three surgeries and a rib removed. Like some other teachers, he preached about listening to your body, but then offered the bikram-like, pushy style. I would have been fine with that because it was clear that the clients wanted what he was offering, but…There was a moment when he laughed about people not following his instruction for a pose and encouraged us to follow (contradictory to people ‘listening to their bodies’) - I looked around and I was the only one modifying the pose. I saw him look at me and continued the laugh, which got about ten other people to laugh, as well. A bit too much negative and selfish ego in the space. However, there was a nice woman who checked us in for class.

UPDATE SINCE I HAVE BEEN ATTENDING CLASSES: One thing that elevation could improve on though is reaching teaching front desk staff members about gender inclusion. I’m non binary and I def have experienced a couple of individuals on the front desk staff who seem to not really “get it” and I can see that they treat me awkwardly as a result (compared to how I observe they treat other members). The teachers, however, never skip a beat…I always feel like they see me for who I am and they act inclusively.

Original post, still relevant:
I’m so glad my friend recommended Hot Elevation Studios to me. I was looking specifically for yoga sculpt classes because I love yoga but I also love HIIT cardio+strength training. I work with a body builder and needed some diversity in my workouts with built in flow, stretching and expansion of my body movement. The array of classes and instructors are great (special shout out to Olivia, Thomas and Ashley) and the workout I get (mentally and physically) is other worldly 😊 Really love the energy and commitment to mind body fitness and strength. Especially in times like these, community and practice have been critical for me to stay centered and leave “it” on the mat. 🙏🏼 If you’re someone who stays clear of “hot yoga”; I def recommend still checking it out: There are so many options to try here. I typically only sign up for classes outside the hot room and I never run out of viable options!!

The Spring Sculpt series has been one of my favorite exercise classes ever! Danica is an AMAZING instructor. She's energetic, motivating, checks in to see how we're all doing and plays great music. Her workout routine has been fun and I can't remember looking forward to classes, as much as these. I feel stronger, and better. I would love to continue classes like these, if you added them. The floor exercises and use of bands and blocks combined with HIIT, is something that I haven't found around town. Fingers crossed!
