I love this studio. Have been going for several months now. Aja has helped me improve both my mental and physical health and I am very grateful for that! The studio feels very community based which represents what Oakland is all about 🙌🏻

Love this studio, community, and teachers! The classes are always inclusive and supportive, yet challenging and I always leave the studio with what I need. I am looking forward to the new space in Jack London coming soon!

The best studio around. The teachers provide clear, easy to follow instructions. The classes range from beginner to advanced. The vibe is welcoming and chill. No frills, just sweat and balancing.

I signed up for a Hot Tuff class thinking it would be hot yoga but turned out to be a workout/ HIIT class. It turned out to be a great workout. Easy going instructor, and straight forward approach. I would definitely come back to try a yoga class.

This is hands down my favorite yoga studio, the best I've ever been too! There's such a genuinely friendly and inclusive community and all the instructors are great! The weekend classes do get really full, but there's awesome energy with everyone together. I wish they still had the 9AM classes, but super happy with the noon time when I can make it. Highly recommend!

Hotspot is a gem. Looking for vinyasa flow with a bit of heat, danceable playlist, and no-nonsense room vibe? Rx Hotspot. Just opened second studio on 9th street in Old Oakland - beautiful space to practice.

I really like hot spot - the teachers are great and the classes are consistent. There’s a real sense of community and inclusivity at the studio. I do wish the schedule was more filled out - my schedule changes week to week, and sometimes I miss out on going to yoga because there’s only a few options for time. I’m bummed they eliminated the 9am class. I’ve been to a lot of yoga studios and hot spot has one of the most stripped down schedules I’ve seen. I am considering switching studios to have more options time-wise and variation of practice. I would love more yin/restorative options also, but a bit more active than the one Hot Spot offers Sunday evening. Hot Spot is solid, but is starting to feel limited for my schedule and practice. I hope to see the schedule fill out and more variety offered!

I love that this place is black owned but h the owner is not actually in support of accessibility even to native Bay Area people who have been priced out of their own home. For a very new student that has had no experience with this place they either have to pay the shocking sliding scale drop in price of $25 as the lower limit meaning she expects more! Or you have to pay a whole $75 without even having tried a class. What’s all the big deal about needing to get paid? Why not just offer a first timers free class the way the bay use to be before it got gentrified? I can’t afford rent here as much as you can’t so what makes you think I have money to throw around for something I haven’t even tried yet! Also this place doesn’t even have a full schedule during the day. Even if I paid $150/month I have little options. There’s one class only in most evenings. Honestly at core power (which I don’t like I rather go to a poc owned yoga studio community and wellness oriented) allows you to go to any studio all over the country, each having 10 or more classes going all day for $120-$150. Why can’t this studio be black owned and accessible, or at least welcoming. Come on make your first class free and be generous then after someone has been there and like it, they can pay you the $70 or $150. Also there are so many poc yoga teachers in the bay if you wanted to have a class all hours of the day you could!!!!

I *LOVE* this studio. I'm not typically into yoga or yoga studios, because a lot of the time I get done with the class and think "well, that was an hour of stretching, I guess" but at Hot Spot you WORK OUT and they somehow make it super fun. The beats are great, and the instructors are fantastic. They make you feel good in your own skin, even when you're toppling over onto your mat because you don't know what you're doing. I felt super welcome from day one. It's awesome. Barbara's classes are my fave, except maybe tied with Sunday Bubbles and Flow. And it's so cool that they're finding a way with all the COVID Crazy to still do yoga at home. These guys are rad.

Hot Spot is truly a gem of a yoga studio. Great teachers, great vibe, great classes -- really a great choice for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice.
The studio itself is clean, spacious, and tranquil, with a garden view in the main studio area. The temperature is more "warm" than it is "hot", so don't expect a Bikram-style class. Personally, I think the temperature is ideal for loosening up the muscles without being so intense that it makes you faint or light-headed. That being said, if you sweat easily, make sure to bring a towel. Also, since there is no carpeting, the studio smells neutral, pleasant, and not like sweat. Parking is easy to find around the studio.
Most of the classes are vinyasa, but they do offer 3 other types of classes:
- Hot Tuff, a challenging work-out class (seriously rewarding, and not for the faint of heart!)
- Decompression Session, a gentle vinyasa class that eases its way into a more yin-style class
- Hot Spot Honey Lounge, a therapeutic yin class to rest, restore, and calm the nervous system (HIGHLY recommended! I really love this one)
There is no pretentiousness here, and no selling-out of the yoga practice, which I highly appreciate. The yoga practice is respected, and each teacher brings in their unique point of view.
Give it a shot! Their introductory special is a GREAT deal ($49 for an unlimited month).

If you're looking for a studio that offers good customer service do not go here. I have been calling for two weeks and have not had anyone contact me back. Ive called the studio 28 times, left 7 voicemails, 4 emails, 2 Facebook messages, and no response. I was calling to inquire about their teacher training program. I had a couple questions that was it. By far the worst customer service that I have ever received at any studio. Super disappointed! ☮️✌️

I have been to LOTS of yoga studios in the Bay Area and have honestly never felt more at home than I do at Hot Spot. The inclusive environment is welcoming and safe and the instructors are knowledgeable, helpful, thoughtful and fun. It's always a great workout/experience!

I love Hot Spot Yoga! The Park Blvd location is welcoming, inclusive and peaceful. The studio space is clean with beautiful plants and an amazing alter filled with inspirational folks. The schedule is varied with several great and personable teachers leading different types of yoga/workout classes at convenient times. So happy this in my neighborhood and I get to visit throughout the week :) ps. lavender scented face towels at the end of every class are the BEST.

ADORE THIS STUDIO!!
Hot Spot creates such a warm and inviting environment. Every teacher at the studio genuinely cares about their students and the community. I've learned so much from this studio.
You automatically feel apart of the family after your 1st vist.
I love the variety of classes Offered here. There are classes for people just starting their yoga practice and for those who've been practicing for 20+ years.
This studio is perfect for all Urban Mystics
& people wanting to take time for self care with like minded individuals.
Come as you are and enjoy the family; I'm so glad I did!
