I’ve been a loyal monthly member at Daily City Yoga since 2017. For years, I gave them glowing five-star reviews. But over the last 18 months, this place has collapsed into something I can only describe as a filthy, toxic mess.

Cleanliness should be the bare minimum for a yoga studio — instead, this place is disgustingly dirty. Shockingly, it was far cleaner during the pandemic than it is today. The current state is unhygienic and downright unacceptable.

The teaching isn’t much better. Aside from one competent instructor, the rest are careless and uninspired. You’ll leave wondering why you wasted your time.

Accountability is the only thing that brings about change. I strongly urge anyone considering this studio to remember the two most basic requirements: cleanliness and quality teachers. If the owners aren’t held accountable, this place will only continue to deteriorate. For me, it’s already crossed the line into being a complete waste of time.

Shelley and Christian, I raised the two main issues with your studio directly by email back in early September. You acknowledged them at some level, but after being patient for more than 18 months, I’ve decided to move on. Again, ive been attending since 2017 there has been a significant decline.

The core problem is clear: you have at least one toxic instructor. It’s not my role as a customer to name names—it’s your responsibility as owners to know who is teaching in your studio, how they’re teaching, and to manage accordingly. If you can’t, customers will leave. I know for a fact that others already share my concerns.

I’ve been a loyal member, but here’s why I can’t justify continuing: I invest three hours of my day to commute, take class, recover, and return home. When I arrive and find your worst instructor teaching—especially when the posted schedule listed someone else—it turns into a complete waste of my time. That shows a lack of oversight and poor communication.

The larger issue is mismanagement. Cleanliness has plummeted, communication is nonexistent, and too many instructors are clearly teaching for their own personal benefit rather than the students’. Your so-called management team lacks the skills and oversight necessary to run a professional studio. Just because someone has the title does not mean they can manage.

At the end of the day, this is your business. You can grow it or let it decline. But owners are responsible for either effective management or mismanagement. Right now, it’s the latter.

I started my yoga practice about 5 months ago and what an amazing journey it’s been so far. I went to this studio on a whim and I found them to be very welcoming and inviting. When I first started I thought it was too long and had a hard time staying in the room but now 90 minutes fly by. Here’s my impression so far

Studio Building:
It’s clean, albeit a little lovingly worn but it is kept up well. The men’s locker room has two showers so sometimes there is a line but it moves quickly. Plenty of storage space and lock boxes available for free. The yoga room itself is large and has hardwood floors (which is way better than carpet I’ve seen in other studios). After every class the floor is sprayed and whipped down so there is no odor which I really appreciate. The heaters are very effective at keeping the temperature up but they can be a bit loud. The buzzing has become white noise at this point.

Instructors:
Every instructor/teacher will run through the same 26 postures and breathing exercises but each has their own flare. Here are a couple of my favorites in no particular order.

KJ - An absolutely fabulous soul that I would like to see more on the schedule. She always says “have a beginners mindset” to encourage folks to examine their posture rather than mindlessly going through the motions. She has a knack for articulating specific granular movements that make your postures better. She unlocks something new in me in every session. KJ is effervescent in her approach and her passion is contagious.

Jennifer- I adore Jennifer because she is a “no nonsense” kind of instructor. A retired engineer, she has a very clear and direct approach. Analytical while still remaining humane, very generous to beginners and a solid teacher.

Harry Y - like a human metronome, he has the most consistent pacing. He moves through the postures with a steady and persistent flow. As a beginner his class whipped me out but now with a little more experience I get invigorated leaving his class.

Mika - great instructor that helps with adjustments as necessary.

My only gripe with the studio is that they don’t have a water fountain. Tap water in Daly City is not bad so you can use the sink in the locker room but it would be nice if they had a proper water fountain.

They sell plastic water bottles as well but I’m a proponent of reducing single use items.

I love coming to this studio! The instructors here are really great at what they do and always push you to try your hardest. If you're looking to challenge yourself, I would recommend taking one of their hot mat pilates classes. It's easy to sign up for classes as they have plenty and I have met some great people here. Highly, highly recommend this studio!

They cancelled class on classpass for no reason and no heads up. Won't be back. Also the place looks super old and runned down. Avoid like the plaque folks!

As someone not local, this studio can be a waste of time and money if you are not warned about their policy. They are not understanding of you not being able to find parking. This neighborhood is full of cars, you'll ended having to hunt for parking for a while if you don't know where to park. Arrived on the hour of the class after parking blocks away to see a warning about arriving 30 minutes early. Expecting a customer to give that 30 minutes plus time it takes to travel to the studio, and time to find parking is ridiculous. If you don't live around the area expect to give up at least an hour of your time before the class even begins to not be locked out without a refund they will hold the payment for a following session, but if you are only visiting, good luck. This was more stress inducing than it needs to be and just ruins the mood of the day if the session booked is in the morning.

I really love this place, especially after the renovation. The rooms are much cleaner, and the instructors are friendly and welcoming. I particularly enjoy Akiko and Kai’s Inferno Pilates and Hot Pilates classes. KJ is also very friendly, and I like attending her Bikram Yoga sessions. I would prefer if the yoga classes were shortened to one hour instead of 1.5 hours, and it would be great if more Pilates classes could be scheduled. I highly recommend this place.

It had been about 8 years or so since I last practiced Bikrim yoga. As someone accustomed to vinyasa and power flows it was delightfully interesting and challenging. I was visiting from out of town. But will revisit when I return. I also recently received my 200 hr CYT from my local studio. I have very strong opinions about the founder of Bikrim yoga and have for years. But I love hot yoga and appreciate that outcome of his contribution to the yoga community. It was interesting to experience after our very honest YTT discussions on this practice.

Great yoga studio! The schedule is abundant (there are lots of classes throughout the day during the entire week, much better than most other studios I've been to). The instructors are very good and the owner is very nice and reasonable. The showers/changing area is a bit tight; this could be remedied by having a row of open showers (as opposed to thick wall dividers in between) and knocking down the wall between the sinks and the changing cubes, making for a more open layout.

Hot yoga was fun until the instructor did not allow my friend to go out and get some air. She attempted to leave the class three times because she wasn't feeling good and the smell was really bad. I did not appreciate how she kept calling her out for wanting to leave the room. It's her first class so she is adjusting. Also the yoga mat that we rented has a certain smell . Instructor should understand that we have our own pace.

Well I love Bikram so much that I came back twice. The only thing that smelled worse then the room was the towel and yoga mat I rented. I enjoyed KJ's class more then Rafaela's... it may have been the worst Bikram class I've ever taken and I've had some bad classes. When KJ was the instructor the room seemed 120 degrees. Very hot. When Rafaela taught it it seemed Maybe 90 degrees... a huge difference and in Rafaela's class there were some girls new to Bikram and taking their first class and I felt so bad for them because Rafaela didn't give them any extra instruction at all. No help with any of the postures. At all. One of them looked like she was going to pass out and I saw her mouth to her friend I AM NOT OKAY... I whispered to her, "Hey, you can always go out of the room for a few minutes if you aren't feeling well and come back in... " Rafaela scolded me for this saying, "Emma, we do not talk in class!" and then the girl did exit the room and Rafaela didn't even go check on her. In my experience if I ever left the room due to overheating the instructor always would go check on the person to make sure they hadn't passed out. The studio door never gets locked so your belongings just sit out there and I all I read was these signs saying Studio not responsible for stolen items so literally brought a cooler to keep my stuff in and took it into the class with Rafaela and she scolded me for that too. She said do not bring your stuff into my class. I had to take an uber from my hotel so I didn't have an option of leaving anything in my car. I didn't want to explain that and was not in the mood to talk to her so I ended up leaving my disgusting yoga mat and towel in the room and leaving. I will not ever go back to this studio. I wish KJ well because she informed the class and me of all her injuries and upcoming surgery. I just felt so sorry for her. Plus they didn't tell me that if you are a drop in and paying for 1 class only the mat and towel rental are free... I payed for my class online and so after KJ's class, before I read online that your towel and mat rental are free with a drop in... I bought a yoga outfit and Kambucha drink because I read a sign that said no card payments under 10 dollars. Also the changing area for woman is see through and I felt so uncomfortable changing in there! Ah what a freakin' nightmare. Never again!

Hello.
This message is to give positive feedback and shine some light on one of your instructors KJ Landis. I would like to let you know that she is an amazing yoga instructor and always has a very positive energy in our classes. I enjoy the fact that she is very involved with all of us. She will give you immediate feedback and inform you of micro-adjustments needed in order to preform the poses properly. About a year and a half ago I had a minor meniscus strain/tear preforming the toe-stand incorrectly. With a teacher like KJ that likely would have been avoided. I was lucky enough to recover naturally, with very little leftover negative symptoms. If there is any way you can give KJ more classes at the facility here in Day City please do so! I have noticed it has been harder to go to her classes because she has been on the schedule less. I also feel many others can benefit from her & also help prevent future injuries such as mine, by having the proper instructions from someone like KJ.
Thank you!

First time trying this particular studio via ClassPass and left after 30 minutes primarily because of the unprofessional and hostile attitude from the instructor. My Classpass review has been deleted, so I decided to post it here.

The first negative encounter with the instructor began as the session started. I realized I forgot to track this workout on my fitness app, so I glanced down and started it on my watch. The instructor noticed this and made a remark saying that digital devices should be put away and that we should concentrate on the exercises. It was an honest mistake on my part and I felt that this remark was not needed, A little leeway should have been given since it was the start of the session.

The heat at this studio was by far the hottest I've ever experienced. Much higher than my comfort level. However, I decided to stick with it since I was already here. After the first group water break 15 minutes in, the instructor mentioned to the class that they can take water break whenever they felt they needed to as there wouldn't be anymore group ones after this. After another 15 minutes, I felt like I reached my limited and needed to step outside.

So I stepped out quietly as the entire class was still practicing. The instructor was positioned in front of the exit and had to pause her routine to let me through. After my break I headed back into the session and immediately the instructor made another remark by saying, "We should respect each other, respect the teacher and respect the class. Don't go out for water while others are doing movements." I was astonished at this comment from her! She previously instructed us saying that we can take our own breaks. Is the instructor seriously scolding me for going out? Perhaps she didn't think anyone would need another water break so soon after the first one and that I was somehow purposely disrupting the class? This is not the case at all! Admittedly I am a bit out of shape when compared to the rest of the class so my stamina would not be as high as everyone else's. I felt so ashamed that the instructor was singling me out.

At this point, I felt like I needed leave and did so at the second official water break even though the instructor mentioned that there wouldn't be anymore.

I've never felt so unwelcome and honestly humiliated at a yoga studio before.

My first time doing yoga in 10 years. I am not flexible and my body shape is not the best. Alex, the yoga instructor made the class fun. I felt very comfortable being in the class. I took two breaks in between the session because I was not feeling well and I needed to step out to get fresh air, I didn’t feel judge but others for leaving the classroom. Everyone in the class smiled and they were friendly to meZ definitely coming back. Also,

One of the best yoga studios in the neighborhood. There’s no fancy gyms around but you don’t need one with Bikram Yoga Daly City. The place is always clean. They’re always on time with class. They encourage the students to delve deeper in the postures without making it feel like a boot camp class. They’re very welcoming. I have brought numerous friends for a trial session here and they end up loving it. The class is perfect for beginners or those deeper in their practice.

I was terrified to try bikram yoga after avoiding it for almost 5 years, since my first class (not at this studio). However, since I’ve tried it again with Bikram Hot Yoga, I’ve found that it’s been one of the best workout practices I’ve ever done. I feel mentally and physically stronger, my sleep is better and I feel more motivated to do things outside of the class to live a healthier life. I’ve been going 2-3 times of week. Each class and teacher has something to offer, so I know no matter what class time I choose I’m going to have a great session.

I used to have a stiff neck every two weeks but doing the class really helps my posture and lessen the chance of me having a stiff neck. Quite challenging at first. However, once your joints opened up as you attend more classes, you will find yourself doing the correct poses. I really recommended taking Michael’s class. The only class that I could stay the whole 90 mins. The only ladies would glare at me really mean when I leave 70 mins in. Idk I don’t feel the energy from them lol. Overall, bikram is great!!

Couldn't be happier with my experience at this Yoga studio. I enjoyed both Bikram Yoga and Yin Yoga. The instructors are professional and super helpful. Laura is my favorite Bikram Yoga instructor who sincerely cares your progress and always offers constructive feedback on your posture during/post class. Summer's Yin Yoga class is my must go on each Sunday. To me Bikram Yoga is a physical training (and to some extent a mind power training for endurance) while Yin Yoga provides me a chance to connect with myself and inner energy. Always feel recharged after the class thanks to Summer's guidance. Wish I could find time to come more often.

Bikram Hot Yoga in Daly City was my first experience at any type of Yoga. I have since had to travel and felt the need to visit another Bikram Yoga place. The other place (in SoCal) had carpet and immediately had a horrible smell on entering the room. The classroom felt uncomfortable with too much lighting and I felt very self conscious of my body. I really appreciate the focus at Daly City, I feel very good in my own skin because the leaders of the class do a fantastic job at keeping everyone focused on their own bodies and minds. I have never felt ashamed of my imperfect body, instead I have come to appreciate it for all the great things it can do. I love the floor at Daly City, no carpet, no smell, the lighting is perfect. I feel energized every day after Bikram, I haven’t felt this type of energy since I was in high school. I’m loving it, totally recommend it!

I have tried this place a few times and for the most part, the posts are fine except a few of them can potentially cause harm. The experience depends on what which teacher you have. The worst experience I had was with Setareh Rasouli. Her style is to insult and humiliate people while teaching. I could not believe that in this date in age such bad communication style is tolerated at this facility!!! I have been to a few of her classes and observed her being mean to someone every class!. How could one learn while being insulted?!

There are other nice instructors there though. Wei Wei, Michael, Robyn are all good teachers and easy to learn from.

Dirty bathrooms, poorly maintained place, mean staff, and over priced packages. The owners are horrible teachers but good at changing the yoga for the students.
As long as you sign on for a membership, owner takes the money, and you can ask for anything. Just email the owners. They are very receptive.
If you ask for 60 minute classes, music in the room, cooler temperature, candlelight, or kids class, the owners will do it. You can even ask for different class times, and they will find a way to make it happen. The teachers are not so receptive. They just do the same boring 90 minute thing. The good part is you can do whatever you want but the bad part is its not a real Bikram School. If you need "therapeutic hatha yoga" I would try North Beach.

This is a great experience with a positive team. This was my first exposure to bikram yoga and I was not disappointed. The moves were fairly easy to do and the practice followed a typical flow of bikram yoga. However, keep in mind, they are true to bikram. After trying this twice. and feeling horrible after both times, I'm not sure this style is for me.

I'm only deducting one hair because the studio isn't cleaned much between classes and there is a lot of dirt, sweat and hair left over from previous people.

I bought a package from Groupon and I went to one class and then never went back. I guess I was expecting a typical yoga class with good lighting and a supportive instructor. What I experienced was a dark, dingy, impossibly humid room that smelled like ass and an instructor who could teach Marine Corps Drill Instuctors a thing or two about doing a PT session. About 40 minutes into the class I couldn't breathe well and had to leave, which thoroughly pissed off the instructor and caused her to berate me in front of the class. I would never go back nor would I recommend this to anyone except a hardcore masochist.

I like going Bikram Hot Yoga in Daly City. Easy enough to park at the Home Depot lot and walk about a block. The room didn't feel cramped at all and there were mirrors all around. The room was hotter than the only other time I tried Bikram at another studio. So far I have taken classes with Kelly and Jamie and both were kind and helpful; I got positive reinforcement when I got something right. The only thing that I found to be lacking was the fact there are no real lockers other than some small ones to keep a phone and wallet in (if you give them an ID). But they do have cubbies for clothes and such.

Tried it for about 3-4 times under different instructors and did not continue. Very impersonal atmosphere and attitude of instructors. A student passed out and instructor continued with her hot yoga blah-blah. So there we all were, going through our hot yoga poses while someone was clearly passed out. After about 3 minutes when student did not revive on her own, another student went over, revived her and helped walk her outside. Instructor stopped and checked on student when paramedics arrived.

I've been practicing Bikram Yoga now for about 4 years or so and just switched my home studio to Daly City as it works better with my daily routines, it's also a great studio to practice at in terms of the facility and teachers, etc. I've practiced at many studios, and this is definitely one of the good ones. (I am NOT a yoga teacher, btw)

Of course a review of the studio is almost trivial compared to a review of Bikram Yoga itself, regardless of the studio you choose to practice at.

Each pose is specifically designed to work on the body in a certain way, and they have also been carefully put into the correct order to have a synergistic effect, as the next pose takes advantage of the previous pose and is therefore more effective.

The health of your body is just the beginning, as a long term practice will also benefit you by providing one of the most precious gifts you can give yourself, which is to develop a mind that can witness itself. It's a question of whether you have your thoughts, or do your thoughts have you? It is both a subtle, but infinitely critical capability that effects how you see the world and those around you. Practicing Bikram Yoga gives you an excellent place to develop that kind of perspective.

We all know that money can't buy you love and happiness...but if you spend that money on a Bikram Yoga membership, and make it a regular practice, 3 times a week for a while, I think you might have the same reaction I've had, which was, "damn, I wish I had started doing this years ago!" :)

Seriously, you've tried all manner of other ways to figure out the love and happiness thing....and by now you might be getting a little suspicious that looking for it "out there" might not be the best approach. Yoga is one of those things that forces you to look and work on yourself, and I'm starting to suspect that maybe that's a better place to start when looking for how to find fulfillment in life.

Of course I might be wrong, maybe I just need to buy more lottery tickets... :) I'll let you decide for yourself.

Daly city is the first place I went to for Yoga Practice. The instructor is really nice, and I like the environment there, since it's easy to find parking and there is no bad smell.

Highly recommend this location over SF ones....

My name is Sharlene, I'm not the type that likes to excise at all and I have anxiety and asthma, me like everyone else bought the coupons for $49.00 for 35 classes, when I started going there, my friend told me that I have to go there every day for the first week to get used to the heat, I went there everyday Monday to Friday except Sat. and Sunday within 1 month and a week I used all the special deal class coupons, I loved it so much , I re-new the class and joy for a year membership.

Since my first year class had ended it in Oct.2014, I did not go back yet, because the crazy schedule. I hope I can go back soon.

Here is the following teachers/ instructors I have before and they are great always teach with TLC.
Some people might think the instructors shouldn’t call them by name and correct you in class but I think is the best thing, remember this is what you have paid for.
Also remember do bring a lots of water, it because is really not in there.

1. Adam is my first teacher, I like to give him a happy face when I see him, when he teach the Awkward pose on the third part, he always said squeeze your leg just imaging there is a hundred dollar bill between your leg and don't let go, he likes to encourage the students to try to do the best you can, he also taught me how to do toe stand pose and I'm not there yet but still trying..

2. Kelly I love her so much, very sweet, funny and always check on the students, makes sure they do at least one on every post. She will get you, if you're missed. Especially on the Triangle pose. Love the attention from her, she teaches with TLC.

3. Steve I love the way he teaches, he will go and point out to the students what and where they need to be corrected, he will correct the post until you get it right. I have learned from him the Eagle Pose, Locust pose and Half Tortoise pose, Love the way he teaches.

4. Jaimee I learned how to suck my stomach a lot, which is good for me, I would love to lose my fat belly. LOL

I learned a lot from the above teachers; just want to take this opportunity to say "Thank you" for being wonderful teachers and I miss my Yoga class so much.

This place is nice and the studio is a good size, not too big. The carpet smell hits you right when you walk into the studio, which is not very inviting. But the staff is really helpful and very nice. I have not been to enough classes to say whether the instructors are good or not, but the classes that I have been to, the instructors are average. I wished that the instructors didn't use microphones though. I always thought that yoga should not be like a seminar. My other complaint is their class times. I really hope they have something around 4:30 or 5pm. They have classes 3:45 then at 5:45pm, which is either too early and too late for me. The location is very convenient, and parking is not too bad.

I really like my experience at the Daly City location. Location staff are friendly and teachers are amazing. I wish their prices would be more affordable, so more people can practice hot yoga on a continue basis.

When I first started yoga, I went to Seacliff. I started going to Daly City when it opened and loved most of the instructors. Suzanne was the best! I had to take a long break when I got pregnant and now go to San Mateo when time permits. I love all of Christian's studios. Wish I had more time to do more yoga!!

I got my butt thoroughly kicked, and felt great! It was my first time doing a 90 minute session, and had to stop a few times to pull myself together again, but the instructor made it very clear and was very encouraging for us to go at our own pace. Which in turn made me want to push even harder!

Tried this place through a groupon. The classes were great but the carpet needs to go. It smells bad when you enter and usually it takes about 10 min to get used to the smell. The good thing is that the yoga area is big so they can fit lots of people. Parking can be tough as well.

I've been practicing Bikram yoga about five years. I've been to many studios in the Bay Area and this studio doesn't compare (not close) to any of the others. The studio is clean, comfortable and plenty of room to practice. All the instructors are FABULOUS! I enjoy practicing at this studio and hope to practice for many years to come :-)

I have been practicing at Daly City Bikram since last June and became a regular participant. I enjoy all the instructors, they are kind, understanding, professional, and ethnically diverse. The front desk staff members are super friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. The facility is clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. The yoga classroom is spacious, clean, well carpeted and the heat/airflow is well circulated.

This is by far my favorite Bikram studio on the Peninsula! The instructors are excellent and the variety of class times is great! The size of the classroom is HUGE compared to a lot of other studios, which makes such a difference when you're in a crowded class. As a beginner is was really important for me to be able to see myself in the mirror, so a large room was really beneficial. Highly recommend!

I absolutely LOVE doing yoga here! It is at first extremely challenging but they get you through the 90 minutes and push you and in the end, you feel so incredibly amazing! Every part of your body feels better and your mind and spirit feel lifted. I love Kelly because she really pushes you and I love hearing her sing, Harry because he will fix you when you are doing something wrong and is always happy. I not only need it but I crave it!

Outstanding instructors and excellent facilities...have been to a few studios, both on the Peninsula and in Tahoe...while I do not have any complaints about the other studios, NONE have motivated me to write a review...

Vey happy this studio opened up!

Spacious, huge open loft space makes for a great place to start Bikram hot yoga, but it's not a personable company. Bonus points for the professionalism, clean locker rooms, and peaceful ambiance. Get your zen on , enjoy :)

Bought a Bikram yoga groupon because I've been wanting to try it I actually liked it. It is 90 minutes of yoga inside a hot room. During my first and second sessions, I felt lightheaded a few times so I just laid down to rest for a bit and tried again when I felt better. The instructor won't let you leave and just recommends you to lay down and rest til you feel better and finish the session. The instructors were great and if it's your first and second time, they help you out and correct you with the positions.

I just wish it's not too expensive because I really liked it.

It was a great experience and I like that you feel good right after each session.

A most excellent experience. Started Bikram yoga almost 3 years ago and this is maybe the 4th studio I have done practice. The prior review is spot on this studio is the real deal. The teachers are in great yoga condition, friendly and instructional.

The studio always has plenty of space, its clean and inviting. Most importantly, there are shower facilities and for the guys they seem to be under utilized as I always have immediate access after practice.

The schedule is reliable and there are times throughout the day everyday to practice.

I love this place.
