About the Club

WHO WE ARE -
Hybrid House gym where the weights are metal, the vibe is real, and everybody knows your name.
Back in the day, we trained like we were prepping for battle—great for the elite, borderline brutal for most. Over time, we realized that “more is better” only works until it doesn’t. So we grew up.
Now, we train smarter—not softer. The goal? The perfect prescription—enough intensity to grow, but not so much it wrecks you.
HOW WE TRAIN -
We run 12-week strength & conditioning blocks, each one built with purpose. Every class is programmed in advance, coached with intention, and capped small so it feels more like personal training in a group setting.
Week 13 is GRIT WEEK—where we test everything you’ve built. Think progress check.

Best gym I've ever joined! The staffers knowledgeable, kind, and care. They pay attention and make tweaks that improve your technique and protect your body. The people who attend are kind and fun and it feels like a community there. Everyone cheers and supports each other. I've never felt stronger and look forward to going.

When I saw Hybrid House I really wanted to workout there. I was intimidated by weightlifting, but after literally peering in the windows it looked like a really welcoming place. My life has been changed by the trainers and community here in the 10 months I’ve been coming. I love weight training, especially back squatting and kettle bells. Try a class, you won’t be disappointed!!!

I was one of the "first 50" mid-2022 and have been a member since. Hybrid House offers exactly what I needed to get started and to stick at it (having NEVER done weight training in 50+ years).

Classes - Push, pull, cardio. Rinse, repeat. 12 week blocks that allow you to measure progress. Enough variety so you don't get bored, but consistency for hypertrophy and strength gains. Coaches take the time to tell you the "why" behind all activities including warm ups.

Coaching - Amazing how they can run a class with every level of experience and body type and injury profile and still help the individual perform and improve. While each class is consistently programmed, the coaches give me the attention , motivation, and queues that I need to excel. I see them do that for everyone - newbie to veteran. And when you see coaches taking the classes with you, being coached themselves, it shows they believe in the programming and are open to feedback themselves.

Community - Maybe all gym rats are like this, but I doubt it. There is an authenticity to this place that cannot be overstated. Read some of the Yelp reviews for more details. Suffice it to say we are called Hybrid House Homies for a reason!

All this is no doubt because of the owner Timmie's relentless drive to offer the best experience for her members. Regular surveys as well as bending her or a coach's ear have led to regular improvements/additions in equipment and programming.
Classes at Hybrid House has become a highlight of my week. Take a free class and see for yourself. Tell them "Two a Day Ray" recommended it!

I've been training at hybrid house for more than 18 months now and have grown so much physically (of course), but mentally as well. The classes are designed for long-term strength growth, but also mobility, which is very important for someone at my age (37). Really love this gym and look forward to many more years with this community.

I would give this gym 100 stars if I could! The small class sizes really make it feel personalized, and you’ll get 1:1 time if needed. The trainers are also incredibly knowledgeable, and they take care of you when you’re injured (like creating workouts for me while in a boot). The best part though? It’s queer-owned and it’s a true family. Can’t beat getting to hang out with your friends AND getting ripped!

Its been over 6 month since I signed up and from the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a clean, well-maintained space and a friendly atmosphere. Hybrid house is the gym I’ve been looking for. Group fitness with personalized coaching from qualified and passionate fitness professionals. There is a variety of classes to match my shifting schedule. In one month it will be my 1 year anniversary at HH "the Church"!

I found this gym when I was at my heaviest weight, worst mental state, and lowest self-confidence. I showed up because my friend who had been coming for a few months raved about it- and now I get why. This gym is the best thing that I've done for myself.

When I started coming to classes, I originally showed up because I hated my body. I was embarrassed that I struggled to do some of the warm-ups like inch worm stretches. The first coach I met was Justin and I was INTIMIDATED! But, Justin was able to give me modifications and pointers so that I could improve. He was welcoming and never once made me feel like I didn't belong. After my work schedule changed, I moved to different classes and met Meg, and Vic... and you guessed it! I was once again INTIMIDATED lol.

Meg was so kind and took her time explaining form, posture, and movements so that I could get the most of her classes and workouts. With her I learned that female lifting was a real possibility and strength training can be rewarding.

My schedule changed once again and now I mostly attend Vic's classes. Vic is who made me realize my own strength and turned this gym in to a "home" feeling. He coaches you to your potential and on the days I feel like giving up he is there to remind me of what I'm capable of. His classes are up-beat and full of knowledge. You leave feeling fulfilled, inspired, and knowing that you can do hard things.

My favorite part about Hybrid House is that no matter what class you attend you will be welcomed with open-arms and a smile, not just from the coaches, but from the others who suffer alongside you (in the best possible way).
Our gym has a Grit Week where you can test your max reps and a program that follows a 12 week block where you do targeted workouts to improve your conditioning and strength over the weeks. You can join any time (I joined at week 10 of our 12 week block) and fit right in with us!
Truly, this gym changed my mindset, I lost 70 pounds since joining, and made new friends.

My husband and I bought a house in Corona in September and for 4 months I tried to find a gym like Hybrid House... After realizing there isn't anything like it, I now make the drive every morning to Long Beach. (there's no place like home, after all)

Here at Retro Row, “The Church”, you are trained by qualified coaches with purposeful programming that has a beginning with proper techniques and learnings, a build up where your strength and confidence grows, and then an endpoint evaluation where you see results of all the hard work done over 12 weeks. Rinse, recycle, and repeat. Every 12 weeks you reassess, make new goals, push harder and further. The best part is you’re doing it with people who’ve become your friends and you motivate each other to show up and grit through it day after day. I love Hybrid House! I started a year ago and it’s been my consistent habit! Small classes with knowledgeable coaches. The classes are encouraging and welcoming. I had to take the last couple of months off due to surgery. Hybrids team reach out to encourage me during recovery, their dedication and philosophy are the best. Hybrid house has totally changed my life. It sounds dramatic but it’s true. I started in my 40s after not exercising for two decades. I was weak and only strong enough to do the bare minimum during the day. I couldn’t even run. Now I’m running 8ks and lifting heavy things.

The amazing Hybrid coaches played a huge role of getting stronger and faster. They COACH you. They help with form, offer alternatives, tell you to add more weight...seriously irreplaceable.

The workouts are so fun and never ever boring. They’re different every day, and the community is soooo fun. You end up working out and sweating with the same great people everyday. You will seriously wish you could come seven days a week. It’s wins on top of wins with hybrid house. Recommend 10/10!
