About the Club

I AM Movement is Orange County’s ultimate fitness enabler that offers exercise classes that cater to people with special needs and the elderly. I AM Movement is also home to Rock Steady Boxing Irvine, a no-contact boxing program that targets and defies the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Located near John Wayne Airport in Irvine, California, classes encourage and challenge people with and without disabilities through creative movement and focused exercise.
Objective: empowerment through fitness and friendship to help enhance your quality of life so you can be your own hero.

Since the time I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease the Rock Steady Boxing classes at I AM Movement have been a most important component of my treatment. Coaches Timi and Nel do a great job of teaching the basics of boxing techniques, while making the workout sessions fun and rewarding. They encourage all participants to "give it their alI" and always show their compassion for the participants, I highly recommend this program to anyone with Parkinson's.

My husband was winding up his career when the pandemic hit and we started to notice that some activities were becoming difficult for him. We thought his issues were orthopedic but his doctor recommended that he see a neurologist and in 2022 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. My husband had enjoyed running, biking and rowing but those activities were becoming too difficult for him. In 2023 his doctor suggested Rock Steady Boxing and we were introduced to I Am Movement. Coach Timi and Coach Nel and their crew of volunteers are wonderful. They have built a real community for their clients and they do a terrific job of tailoring the workouts to meet each person’s needs. My husband is stronger and more confident because of the training he gets at I Am Movement. We are truly grateful for the team’s help as he faces the challenges of this leg of his life’s journey. If you know someone with PD, please encourage them to join the fight team at I Am Movement. It is the best!

When I was diagnosed with PD my neurologist said I needed to do 2 things. Take my meds and join find a class and start boxing. I have been going to Nell and Timi’s classes for the past 9 months and enjoy the intense workouts and comradery. I enjoy going to each class and know that my participation has kept my PD from progressing. Nell and Timi make it fun and really care about their students.

I have been attending the class typically 3 times per week and enjoy the coaching by the staff, the other's in the class and the support of everyone involved, It has been a blessing to find such a support group that is helping us beat Parkinson's.

I reached out to Nel and Timi as a DPT student interested in volunteering with people living with Parkinson’s Disease, and to learn about the valuable benefits of the Rock Steady Boxing program. They not only taught me about the ins and outs of their facility, but also allowed me to make connections with the clients and build on my own clinical reasoning and intervention ideas for this population. I was able to witness how they impacted lives by improving functional ability in their member’s everyday lives. They provide a real community for their members! This is a great opportunity for medical students and other medical professionals to complete volunteer hours or fieldwork. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity!

I’ve been impressed with the Rock Steady Boxing sessions led by Timi and Nel. I recently relocated to Orange County from Arizona where I participated in Parkinson’s boxing for over 6 years. Timi and Nel provide a holistic approach to fighting PD with work on heavy bags, speed bags, core exercises, fine motor skills, cognitive challenges, and vocalization. Their classes will kick up your heart rate, make you sweat and think.

I joined the I Am Movement gym in April 2022 as I was looking for a workout to improve my balance and right hand coordination and mobility. I love everything about the gym! I love the class, BOXING 4 ALL, and the trainers, Timorei and Nel. The trainers are very passionate about what they do. They are helpful, creative, kind and funny! The BOXING 4 ALL is a fun class and it’s challenging for all levels of ability.

As a senior, before I joined this facility, I was a little hesitant about I could do boxing, but after 8 months now, I think I made a good decision.
For the first few months, I could barely come up with one hour long session which is composed of various and unique programs focusing on boxing.
However, for the most part I like while in the class is feel a dew of perspiration on my forehead and by the time class ends, my whole body and arms burn from exertion with a feeling of endorphins.
The instructor, Nel & Timi are both very kind and caring, above all, they know how to toning up the functions of every part of the body.
“I AM movement “ is suitable for everyone, however, I strongly recommend for the seniors who want to return to their vibrant youth again.

These 2 ladies are AMAZING!! I brought a client to their classes that was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia with Parkinsons. Their level of skill, patience, care and genuine love for what they do if off the scale. My client couldn't wait to go their classes. It was definitely the highlight of his week. Staying active is one of the best ways of fighting Parkinson, To stay active I ride bicycles, build cars but best of all is spending 3, 90 minute sessions at Rock Steady's "I Am Moving" program is the best activity I'm doing. The highly-qualified coaches Timi and Nel taper the training to the needs and capabilities of the individual. They take personal interest in each individuals needs.

Nel & Timi are a great team. They bring much enthusiasm & positive energy to the RSB classes. I AM Movement is the 4th Rock Steady facility I have worked out with, so I have a pretty good basis for comparison. The facilities are just about as good as it gets, with a non-profit budget like this. Timi and Nil provide a high speed intense workout and their knowledge of the benefits to Parkinson's patients is Impressive.I would recommend them to anyone trying to maintain their loved ones physical and mental well being.
