I love working out at In Motion, there's so many things to do there with so many different work out areas. I love the outdoor track that they have, the torque tanks are my favorite. And the new SpeakEasy Fitness Studio has such a cool vibe, I love the new Keiser equipment.

They are missing Massage, but they keep the place so nice and clean and we always seem to find paring. Other than that they have every piece of equipment you could ever need and classes happening all the time. I for one love the pools and the pool classes and the steam room is a big plus.

I'm going to set aside the fact that this place is insanely crowded and smells bad. My issue is that I tried to cancel my membership and they wanted a bunch of extra money to cancel. I told them I literally couldn't afford it. Didn't hear anything back until now we are getting harassed by a collection agency for over a year's worth of unpaid dues. Supposedly they kept on charging us even though we weren't going and thought the membership was canceled. I don't' know how this is legal? Anyway, don't go here please. Save yourself the headache.

really cool amenities, could have better employment. seems like they’re too busy making sure they, themselves, look good rather than making sure the locker rooms look good and clean. also too bad they’re doing construction all the time, parking is very limited.

I saw a video of some guy touring a super expensive gym that was supposed to be really fancy and great, and it made me realize just how lucky I am to have an InMo membership πŸ˜… Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've seen anything that looks as good as InMo in any of the fitness videos I've seen. The pool area alone is great, I've never seen that many all together outside of a water park. Plus there's so many different themed rooms, which I don't see often these days, everything is so plain and minimalist, but InMo gives each space it's own vibe and look, and the gym equipment is good and well kept. It's a decent place to go if you're really into fitness, but it's also a very beautiful place to just chill.

I enjoy this gym, but I do think they can work on making sure the place stays clean. The new areas they have built are cool, but it would be nice if they did not have something being built all the time. The parking lot is limited due to construction, and it is hard to find a time when it's not overcrowded. They do have overflow parking, but not somewhere I would feel safe parking regardless of cameras. The staff is always kind, and the price is not too bad for all that they offer.

I'm thankful they moved the construction a tiny bit to allow more parking spots! It's been very tight parking lately.

I always appreciate the employees, they are always very friendly. They seem to go out of their way to give friendly greetings and goodbyes, and that really makes a huge difference! I've been going to this gym off and on since around 2009 and they have made a lot of improvements! The construction is unfortunate and brings barriers such as parking as mentioned and it's a bit more crowded with the entry being in the middle of the gym, but that can't be helped. The new rooms and saunas are great.

Amazing. As a member for 11 years. First, the only really bad thing with this gym is SOME OF THE STAFF. Now most of the staff is really good, like the super nice blond lady at the front. Some of the new staff are not so great. I also love that there is a swim team there. But other than some of the staff, it's great, especially the workout facility. Thank you, InMO

I really wanted to like this gym..
A few things that are so unfortunate
You guys have 14, 15, 16 year olds running around your gym wearing a bra and booty shorts. I thought there was a dress code? I was under the impression this was a gym for families yet you have girls outside wearing string bikini thong bathing suits.
Your staff always looks pissed off.
And in relationships with each other.
Hiding in corners and being inappropriate while 1 is working and the other is supposedly off and working out. This gym is ran poorly. The only good from this place is a young lady who works at the front desk who has long wavy blonde hair, blue eyes and is Caucasian. The current managers should be termed and give a promotion to the one nice and wonderful young woman who is always in the front.
We pay a lot to be at this gym and can't even use a clean bathroom.

NOT MOTORCYCLE FRIENDLY. If you think you can ride your bike here be prepared to take off everything before you come into the facility. Despite being able to for months I was rudely asked to start taking my helmet off before I come into the building. My face is visible and I’m here everyday. While removing my helmet quickly my earbud fell out of my ear and isn’t working properly.

In Motion Fitness is undoubtedly the best gum in Butte County, if not in California (north of Sacramento).

They are constantly improving and expanding.

The only area of growth I would suggest is they need to do something about people taking up space on benches and other machines with their water bottles and bags.

It also drives me nuts when someone camps on a machine, bench, or something and messes around on their phone for 5 minutes between sets. I would love to jump in and use the equipment if they would get up and share the gym.

There have been multiple times I ha e stayed longer than I needed or wanted to or left early because of these issues.

These issues are not exclusive to In Motion Fitness, but they are exasperated with a very busy gym. So, IMF either needs, needs to put up some "No Holding" / "No Camping" signs, or have some staff walk around and address the issues or both.

I’ve been paying the same amount for quite a while for years actually. They need to get their construction under way and finished because these are things I joined for that are included in the price I paid for. The people are always friendly. The bathrooms are always clean wheelchair accessible the children love it in the swimming area. They have classes of all kinds and several types of machines to work with always someone cleaning all kinds of contracts to choose from.

I’ve been going here for about 18 years now. I have loved it so much. My kids have been going to kids care their whole lives, they’re now 7 and 10. Classes are great. Kids care is great. Unsanitary and unclean. Sauna has been under construction for over a year. The price has risen to $73 per month; which, is at least $25 more than any other gym in Chico. Great gym in terms of amenities and friendly staff. My wife and I joined in 2022 for a two year contract. The Steam Room was my main reason to join In-Motion over other gyms, but unfortunately it went under construction and has been un-available for the majority of my contract. I'm still waiting for them to reach out and give me some type of concession for that situation, they should have let me know their plans to remodle before signing a contract.

Update for 2025 - the steamrooms have completed and they are fantastic. Same exact rooms, resurfaced with a new steam producer. 5 Stars once again.

Really bad corporatized gym that will try to milk you for every penny. Membership office first claimed they processed a refund, which was never processed. Then when I confronted them about it, the other guy claimed he would process the refund if I sent him proof of moving (lol, why is that even a thing and legal in 2025?) and still hasn't done it and is basically ghosting me. Seems to be a very seedy gym that caters to elderly people in chico who will pay the exorbitant prices for social signaling.

The gym itself is unimpressive. It looks big on the brochures, but the actual workout spaces are small and its crowded at all hours again due to mismanagement. The only good feature is the lap pool. If you choose to sign up here, make sure to press the guy you sign up with on every cost, as they will try to add a bunch of random fees at all points in time.

This place smells like an armpit and is usually so crowded that it’s hard to use the machines that you want. But that’s not even my main issue; we tried to cancel because it’s too expensive and they added on a big cancellation fee on top of making us pay an additional month that we wouldn’t be using. It’s infuriating and a lousy way to do business.

This gym has really improved it's culture. It was always well appointed with excellent variety of weights, machines, studios for yoga, spinning, step, and with lots of programs to get fit. Around the time of the fire, the gym became populated with people who didn't seem to realize that other people were using the facilities too. The culture wilted.

Now it's clean, quiet, and welcoming. The rules now emphasize a collective spirit and behavior that is acceptable to all. The attendants welcome you sincerely and wish you a good day as you leave. Surprisingly, ( in this rough epoch), there is earnestness to this greeting. It's not punctuated with a rubber band smile. The staff really seem to love working there and respect your patronage. The locker room is spotless. The pools are pristine. Great job of making this a go to gym.

InMo is without a doubt, the nicest gym in Chico. Being such affords THEM some luxuries that end up costing the consumers.

1. The oversell their memberships, so expect to workout surrounded by about as many people as is humanly possible. It is very difficult to get some of the higher demand equipment unless you have the freedom to go during unusual times of the day.
2. They love to raise rates every year.
3. If you have to add or remove members from your account (looking at you foster parents) prepare to pay a $15 change charge. I would not consider this gym foster family friendly.
4. Ready to cancel your membership, can't do that over the phone. Needs to be done in person. Why? Probably because they know people are less likely to actually make the journey in, so they count on at least that extra month of revenue out of you.

Overall, the gym is beautiful and extremely well kept. BUT their money first approach to dealing with their customers can be extremely frustrating and feel like you're just a bank account to them.

I love working out here. It is one of the biggest gyms I have been to. It is kid friendly and it has a whole kid swim area. The stuff working is always friendly and helpful.

Everything is always clean and everyone working out here is indifferent to what you look like. I am a bigger guy, so I feel uncomfortable in a gym setting, but I shouldn't have been. No one cares.

After the first of the year, it is hard to go with the influx of the new years crowd. But, after 3-5 months most of those people are gone.

The only downside is parking and equipment availability during peak hours. Parking is really the only reason they are not getting 5 stars from me. Why do they not have a parking structure with the amount of people that attend this gym?

Gym is large allowing for multiple areas to provide for multiple locations of the same equipment. As far as equipment, this gym is very good. Many members do not respect cleanliness and you will not see any employees wiping equipment down. Wether you are looking for indoor or outdoor workouts, the equipment is available here to do so.

Staff and prices are where the rating falls drastically. We have been members for multiple years and have yet to bring guests but this was the biggest mistake. Guest passes are $20 for any amount of time and the front desk representatives are not professional. Feedback is not accepted and responded with distaste and rudeness.

10/10 recommend this gym. Very well kept up gym with both equipment and cleanliness. As well as a very welcoming staff and just an all around safe place that feels like a second home!

I have been a member of In Motion Fitness for 25 years. I love this place. It truly has everything you could ever want. I love the beautiful lap pool most of all. The weights are incredible. The cardio room is the best around. The locker room is top notch with awesome showers, a sauna and a steam room! In Motion is by far the best place to workout in Chico! Great staff as well!

We contacted In Motion becuause we wanted to go there and sign up. The text received was very abrupt and without even the courtesy to introduce oneself or even ask what we were looking for before throwing prices at as. We did end up going in for a tour and we couldn't see a free bench or weight to use anywhere. Plus, it was priced almost triple of the other gyms we went to. Only those other gyms didn't over crowd their membership and had a places to work out. In addition,Β  Β In Motion has substantially gone down hill over recent years with the entire facility being cluttered with non functional equipment spaces , a completely ruined and awkward pool area, as loss of any of the services expected by a "nice" gym such as a basic towel. I remember how amazing In Motion was years ago and totally worth the price. Whoever is making the decision now has only made one giant mess.

They make it very inconvenient to modify your family membership. I needed to drop one of my kids from my account, which I was told I could do at any time when I signed up. I was not able to drop anyone through my online account, so I called and spoke with an employee. They said they can only drop someone by going in person. We had been sick, so my partner went in the following week to drop the child from the account. They told him that I am listed as the primary account holder (even though we signed up together), so they wouldn't allow him to do it. I had to leave work to go in person myself and drop the child from my account. They had already charged me for the month at that point, said they don't reimburse for the cost of the child for that month, wouldn't prorate for the child for the month (even though it was only a few days into the month), and it's an additional $15 for dropping them. The child is 14, and they charge anyone 14 and older as an adult, which is $49 a month. I'm fine with the $15 charge, but had to end up spending $64 total because they wouldn't allow me to remove my child from my account over the phone. I would probably consider dropping my own membership after that, but they charge even more to do that if you've been a member for less than a year. Just be aware, this gym is expensive, and they have you sign a contract to commit.

Probably the cleanest, most beautiful gym I’ve ever been to. The options of several different variations of machines (which are in great condition), activities, classes available (daily), and the gym hours are an absolute godsend to fitting in a great workout. Come and check it out! You will NOT be disappointed!

Great gym at a reasonable monthly fee. Plenty of different areas where you can either be in the mix or be more secluded to get your workout in. Several dumbbell areas, tons of various equipment that is maintained well, brand new spin room with new cycles, chill yoga studio, outdoor area with everything you need to do a workout in a more socially distanced fashion. Check it out. Set up to fit anyone’s fitness needs.

Swim, run on the outdoor track, lift, join a Power Jam class. I'll see you in Yoga/Pilates. The kid's play area is a real hit, too.

It may be on the pricier side for Chico gyms, but it is definitely worth it. You're paying for quality! The facility is huge and beautiful and very well taken care of. It definitely feels luxurious compared to other gyms. They have so many different workout/fitness rooms as well as a lot of workout class options. The staff have been nice as well. Glad I made the decision to come here. For sure the best choice in Chico. Can't complain!

Love the female only room! In Mo is a massive gym! Though everything is updated and clean. Worth the membership, you get what you pay for! Working out in a place that is clean and looks nice helps a lot!

Overall cluttered, packed weight room and poorly maintained weights. Ie. Unlabeled dumbbells that are ALWAYS out of order or being used. Some staff were friendly but often condescending and dismissive of concerns. One day, when thanking a manager for β€œnot” having certain tv station on, she said β€œoh, I actually like that channel I’m going to put in on”. It was wild. Seems nice from afar but not the best experience. Better gyms in town imo.

The best part about inmotion is the fact that they have so many options, and so many different spaces! Although a lot of people go to inmotion, the amount of space there is compensates for how many people are there during peak hours. Of course it’s not always busy, and some underrated qualities of the gym are the awesome rooms they have for classes that can be used for stretching or mat exercises when there are no classes !
