Nothing has changed since my review has been posted. I'm very disappointed about zumba class. In shape! If you switch a coach to a substitute one, at least do it a day before as people make plans ahead and not from a minute to a minute.

Great gym..clean and great employees that take the time to greet and check on the the members..Ang the manager and it starts with her..Yolo another employee is always walking around checking on members equipment and picking up after the members and lindsay always smiling and from cleaning to putting away weights to folding towels always smiling saying hi..I go to many gyms in different states and I look forward to when I get home and work out here..after a week away it's nice to feel welcomed when I show up.

I just joined with my wife and I come nights .. the bathroom is absolutely filthy it’s gross tbh I get the night crew might be waiting till close to clean but it’s not acceptable level of filthy for a premium gym . Machines are broken not just 1 or 2 an unacceptable amount and every time I come more are broken or past are unfixed . If I could take videos of bathroom I would post it’s insane .. even the cheaper white lane one with more people is significantly cleaner . I love inshape but this location needs some work

The new renovation at the gym is very disappointing. The changes ruined the gym’s overall vibe, and there is no longer enough space between the machines. When management announced “upgrades,” it created an expectation of real improvements, but all that was done was rearranging the equipment. These changes have made the gym less enjoyable and less functional.

The front desk staff at the seven oaks location are really nice and do a good job keeping the gym clean. Alanna is an awesome instructor- She’s always encouraging members to try other classes, does a great job of including members of all levels of fitness and I find her yoga and Pilates classes challenging! I like seeing the improvements being made and I’m curious about the new equipment coming in. Gym etiquette is on the low end here. Free weights are scattered.

Ive been a member at the 7 Oaks location for 9 years and during most of those years it has been a positive experience. In the last year I have noticed a definite decline in fitness equipment availability. The machine leg press and leg extension have been out of service for months. Multiple other pieces of equipment are also in disrepair and unavailable. The TVs on the lower level equipment rarely work. Free weights are also spread thorough the facility as individuals take them upstairs to classes and do not return. You would hope your $100+ monthly membership would provide a higher quality of equipment availability and amenities. Maybe with the Planet Fitness opening next door with spur some competition and desire to provide the previous quality of gym.

As a long-time member, I’m deeply frustrated by the consistent decline in this gym’s quality. Despite being the most expensive gym in town, it’s shockingly poorly managed. The equipment is in disrepair: only one of three massage chairs/beds works, the Inbody scan machine is broken, several core strength machines are out of service, and cardio machines are frequently down. The pool lane reservation system is ineffective, with others using reserved lanes without booking. The locker rooms are neglected, with more dirty towels on the floor than people. When I raised these issues with staff, they dismissed them, claiming “it’s not that bad” and “most things work.” For the premium price, this level of neglect and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Until management changes, I’d look elsewhere for your gym membership.

They never refunded me my $200 cancellation fee. Note this fee is applied if you cancel your membership early however is waived if your reason is relocation and you have documentation to prove it. I relocated out of state for a job and emailed my documents as directed by the manager Angelia yet never received my refund. I have called many times to speak with a manager and a manager is never available. I spoke with a front desk rep who told me it can take 10-20 days to receive the refund and it’s a check. Yet, I’m still waiting and it’s been two months. This should not be allowed.

Edit: even this generic reply to my review. “How we can improve your experience..” it’s literally written in the review. Crack down on people being dirty in clean areas, filming in the gym, and for the love of God organize the dumbbells.

Original: Been going here for 4 years. It used to be great. Super well organized and clean. Now—not so much. People wearing sweaty clothes and dirty shoes in the steam room and sauna ALL THE TIME. Disgusting. Dumbbells are always out of order and not even paired together on the rack half the time. Members should be responsible for this basic decency, but if not it falls on staff to organize equipment and they don’t. I pay almost $100/month to go here man. Post signs telling people to re rack weights. They have a QR CODE you have to scan to see their “gym etiquette rules”. These mouth breathers can’t even count from 0-100 to put their weights back in order and you think they’re gonna scan a code to read rules? Get a grip. They also allow these wannabe TikTok fitness influencers to film in the gym which makes everyone around them super uncomfortable. Members shouldn’t be subjected to being filmed and photographed by other members without consent in the most expensive gym in town.

I am going to cancel my membership from this gym. I’m sick and tired calling all the time to the front office because there always 4-7 people having their shoes on in the sauna or steam room. Those places are always dirty and smell nasty because it seems the gym staff or workers are not constantly cleaning and not supervising it. I do not recommend this gym to anyone.

Did a short term trial pass here.. it is honestly a small step above planet fitness. No clue why it costs so much.. it’s not even as nice as the other In Shapes in the area that aren’t considered “premium” like this one. Extremely crowded at all hours, not enough equipment, vast majority of lifting equipment are machines (much like planet fitness). The bars for squat racks / bench aren’t even Olympic bars. The gym goers here also have terrible gym etiquette FYI. Save your money and go elsewhere

Every time I come to this gym, I always see a person with their shoes in the sauna or steam room. This time, there were at least 6 people having their shoes on when I was at the steam room. If there are numerous people always wearing their shoes in these two places where shoes are not allowed, it is an indication there is poor management in this gym. Management should be monitoring all times if members are following rules or protocols of this premises. The sauna and steam room most of the times I have visited is alway dirty or smell nasty due to the fact members get in with their shoes on—nasty Gym!

I’ve been coming here consistently, and while I do like this gym overall — the equipment, sauna, and layout are solid — I feel like it should be a little better for what I pay and the area it’s in.

Some machines are often out of order, which gets frustrating. To be fair, they usually repair them pretty quickly (within a day or two), but it still interrupts the flow sometimes.

That said, the gym is clean, the staff is helpful, and I appreciate the amenities. I just think with a few improvements in upkeep and maybe some new equipment, it could easily be a 5-star spot.

Beware parents: Terrible child care! The daycare workers are cold and dismissive at the Seven Oaks location. They do not interact, play or talk to the children at all but instead just stand around expecting children to entertain themselves. My baby was crying and I asked worker to hold her until I could get there and was told “I do not have to have her” The ladies working the daycare lack empathy and compassion and they should not be working with children!

Also, aside from terrible child care, much of their equipment is out of order. What’s the point of paying a premium gym membership for subpar service? We will be canceling our membership!

I love In-shape’s incredible associates and front supervisors who are always ready to help and support your goals to getting fit. The pool, sauna and exercise equipment are good. The gym is clean, the bathroom and lockers are spotless. When will they fix the broken recovery equipment? It’s been months now, will it be before Planet Fitness opens?

Since late November the massage chairs and hydro beds have been either broken or inoperable. The sad thing is members pay extra to use these recovery aids and they frequently don’t work. As of yesterday only a massage chair was kind of operable, it was low energy and no strength. The hydro beds are still broken.

I use to enjoy the club and the area, but the quality of service is severely lacking. The trainers consistently fail to re-rack the weights after sessions, leaving the equipment scattered everywhere. The staff also neglect to properly re-rack weights, and when they do attempt to, it’s half-hearted at best.

Update (after 2 years): Unfortunately, the issues remain, and things have only gotten worse. The equipment is not being properly maintained, and the training staff continues to leave weights everywhere without consideration for others. Additionally, the kids’ zone hours posted online do not reflect the actual times the facility is operating. For such a large company, I would expect a much higher standard of customer service and overall experience for members, but that’s simply not the case.

Back in June my gym membership was magically cancelled, I was signed up for month to month at the time. So, I spoke to a rep at the front desk and of course they wanted to charge me a fee to resign up. I stated that I was already a customer and that the fee should be waved so they agreed to wave the fee great!

Come to find out months later when I went to cancel my membership they had put me on a 12 month contract instead of month to month and of course even with a cancelled membership I still have to pay monthly on a cancelled membership! Do not do business with In Shape!

I love this gym immensely… I can’t say enough great things about it honestly. I started being a “gym goer” after being an active member at this location. I started at another one nearby and this location has my heart🤎 from the nicest manager to the amazing trainers and instructors… the atmosphere is unmatched. In Shapes Platinum gym at Ming and Buena Vista is unparalleled. The facility is bright, spacious and beautifully maintained. The studio classes are a primary draw for me, particularly Les Mills Body Pump and Pilates. In addition to a huge free weight section the gym offers a conditioning center equipped like a PT office. There are so many cycles, climbers and weight machines no one waits for what they need. After a workout I enjoy the sauna, which is near the steam room, jacuzzi and Olympic sized outdoor pool. When time permits I grab a coffee and relax by the pool on a chaise lounge under a cabana. I’ve never scheduled a massage but that’s on my list.

Value has declined at River Oaks. They deleted a whole class area for pointless VTL and removed aqua classes while taking away services previously included services (massage chairs, guest passes, etc) to an extra monthly charge. If you like signing up for things and then having them taken away, go here. Adds are misleading because of the new upgrade package add-on requirement to use previously free services. Seach online for in shape lawsuits, and see the prior similar behavior. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as any other gym. Could be better if they kept it clean and maintained, but they dont.

Do not waste your money. This club steals from you. I moved from Bakersfield and tried to cancel my membership over the phone, repeatedly. I was always told I had to cancel in person. I finally made it back to Bakersfield and went in to cancel. I spoke to the assistant GM who told me I could’ve cancelled through the app. Why did no one ever tell me that all the times I called in??? The only reason is to make it too difficult to cancel so they can keep your dues. My membership was cancelled and I was supposed to be given a refund of the dues that had been processed the day before. It’s 18 days later and I still haven’t received it. When I called in I was told I was still responsible for the 30 day cancellation and the refund was a credit toward that last payment. THIS CLUB IS A RIPOFF!!! DO NOT JOIN!!!

I'll start by saying it's a decent, albeit overpriced gym if you don't use the classes. The equipment is good and it's clean. Their problem lies in their predatory cancelation policy. You're on a membership hold and want to cancel? You can't, only active members can cancel. Reinstate your membership for the sole purpose of canceling? You're immediately charged the prorated fee for the rest of the month. Reinstate your membership and immediately cancel? Sorry, you need to also give 30 days notice and pay your full $60 monthly dues regardless. It's a pointless, asinine policy solely there to leech money off of you. And if you try to talk to a staff member about it? Sorry, that's just the way it is. You have to pay to cancel. Should be illegal.

In-Shape came up with this not so brilliant idea, charge members more to book some fully booked classes one week in advance. What could ever go wrong with such a brilliant extortion scheme you may ask. Well, as more and more members succumbed to this extortion tactic, they were right back where they started, unable to book full classes 7 days in advance. And of cause the rest of the members that refused to fall for this scheme is now unable to book any classes during the most popular times. Instead of adding more classes to fix the problem they come up with hairball schemes. This club is overcrowded in my opinion and these kinds of tactics are sign of sub-par management. I love Seven Oaks InShape. It's easy to spend hours there. I am there for the pool 98% of the time. I can ask the helpful staff about anything. I'm very novice about weights and machines, but Im never feel put down.

In-Shape Seven Oaks is very well maintained with a clean facility and timely repairs to any improperly functioning equipment. The staff is very friendly, and helpful if you have questions or need some advice. There is a good free weights section and a bunch of different exercise machines. There are tons of good classes to try - especially the stationary bike classes and the new VTL classes. There are also some very nice amenities like the sauna, massage chairs, and body composition scanner. I’ve been going to In-Shape Seven Oaks for years and it is excellent.

Buena Vista rd & ming. The only problem is the lousy super excessive blaring music, which is unnecessary because everyone has there own headset. So we Have to turn our headset volume up. This will contribute to hearing loss. They say because they have children in daycare. In this year of 2022 I'm sure there is a system that can be low volume music and high volume to call parents if needed right away. It is really annoying music only catered to the teenagers that rarely go here. The music is also too loud in bathrooms. It can be lower there so a person can go and make a phone call if needed. Why can't they use some nice music without words that make people want to move and change it up every once in a while.
Has lots of amenities, tanning massage beds sauna steam room outdoor lap pool, jacuzzi circuit training, so many group exercise rooms, classes, spinning class, VTL room, free weights. They have lounge pool chairs with gazebos. It's a great gym. Would be perfect if they turned down the volume in the music. from 9 months ago review, the management has done nothing about the music.

Great place to work out but can be very busy evenings and weekends. Swimming pool is shallow but if you are not confident then that'll be OK. Water in the pool can get warm especially during sunny months in Bako. So if you want to push it then better to get in early am.
Also, almost every time I was there swimming they checked chemicals etc in the water-so no worries on that.
There might be some dust leaves etc but you know it's outdoors and it Bako.
When I was there it was clean and no issues on that.

I don’t mean to sound overly cynical….but I can’t help but notice that this gym has a swarm of young kids (probably high school or younger) and they have absolutely no gym
etiquette whatsoever. They run around, oblivious to others, playing with one another and socializing like it’s a free period senior year. I’m strongly considering leaving this gym because it’s hard to justify the highest gym membership in bakersfied to work out with a bunch of privileged adolescents working out on Mommy and Daddy’s dime swarming around like they own the place. It absolutely sucks. I really feel that a gym like this should regulate gym behavior and etiquette. It wasn’t always like this….but these kids are just killing my vibe. There…I said it.

This has been our Club for 2 years, we enjoy working out at this Club, the Manager Angelyn is very polite and always helpful, Shantea is also awesome, as well as Yolo, Malaky and Juan. Front desk always greet us when we come in and say bye when we leave. The Club strives in cleanliness and all the equipment is always working. Overall, my husband and I will NOT go anywhere else.

The women's locker room has a sour foul odor. The sauna smells like a dirty wet mop. Overall the entire gym has an odor, Or I might have a susceptible nose; either way, it stinks.

Es un buen lugar, pero hay horarios en que esta tan lleno que no hayo donde trabajar. Hoy el segundo piso lleno, el primer piso igual. Recorrí todo el gimnasio con unas pesas en mis manos y no halle espacio. Termine en la escalera viendo el celular. Tampoco hay un lugar para sentarse en caso que se necesario esperar al alguien o descansar mientras toma una bebida. El personal es amable, el lugar está limpio, pero en ocasiones no se donde ubicarme.

Very Clean on the whole gym maintenance, have towel service, big gym with a variety of things to work out with & up to date with there machine, massage bed/chair. I swim and use the jacuzzi every time Am there and is clean. The women locker room is clean with shower & restrooms. You all stock up on what is needed. The steam & sauna is well maintain and love it when Am there. I love the different workout classes. I love how the gym motivate us by attending and earning a prize after so many visits, it truly does help.

I had booked a tour because I never been to the gym before, and the place is beautiful, extremely clean, friendly staff, I can’t remember the tour guys name but he gave me a free week trial! It is pricey but it’s worth it because it’s not as many people plus all the amenities are extra lovely! Makes going to the gym worthwhile!

The instructors and staff are all very friendly and helpful. Along with my own experience, I have been present for interactions with others that are new to classes and the instructors all take the time to talk to new students/members. The front desk staff has always been happy and helpful, which makes going to the gym easier for the first time (and every day afterwards) with no judgement and friendly smiles.

I join through the InShape App where the $29.99 states for all gyms and it had a list of the gyms you may attend, this location been one of them. I was stop by the gym manager stating I join the White Lane gym location and I need to go back to that gym. The way she was talking to me was rude and I was pretty embarrassed since I had no clue what was going on. The manager states this is now a resort style and if I wanted to upgrade my membership it will now be $80. I agreed to her information since is embarrassing when you get stop right in the front desk. The first gym I attended was the White Lane and maybe that’s how my membership was active not sure. $80 seems way too much the gym is small and dirty for the price this is not Equinox lol. I try to contact In-Shape through email since that’s technically false advertisement. The first time I was at the White Lane I asked a few questions and the front desk staff also assured me I can go to all gyms. The white lane gym was still under construction.

Today when I finished my workout I went straight to the steam room but I did not read the rule that I could not enter with shoes, but when I got in, there were two women with swimsuits and one of them said she was the manager (Angeline) and she started screaming that I need to leave, but a very arrogant attitude and the other lady (Noemi) was screaming and saying bad words to me. At the end the manager turned off the steam room. This was my first bad experience in a gym especially when I’m paying a very high rate, as a customer I expect respect.

Pretty good gym, i’ve been going here for years and years. The good part about in shape is the amount of equipment they have, and a nice pool and jacuzzi. However the new staff don’t give a rats hat about your experience when it comes to professionalism. They always are laughing with each other when you walk in and don’t acknowledge you most the time upon entry. When I leave the gym. I am always the one to say goodbye to the worker at the reception desk because often they are on their phones. Tell me what’s wrong with that scene ? Another issue is no more cold towels. They claim it’s because covid, but lets use common sense for 5 seconds. So covid can’t spread when i’m right next to someone in the gym grunting, breathing, and sweating, But it can spread on towels they should be sanitizing in the first place. Huh ?

Great gym, very clean and great equipment. Only complaint is the new staff. They look like you're bothering them when you check in. A greeting would be more professional but they're usually too busy on their phones or giggling with each other. Other than that, the gym itself is great.
