Indoor warm pool, hot tub, massage chair, and friendly supportive staff has been my jam! Even on days when I don’t want to work out I am lured in by the warmth. Literally and figuratively. Gettting there is half the battle. Once I’m there I figure I may as well work out. And then it became a habit and the more I do the more I do! Now my husband and two of my grown kids join me. Facilities are clean. Other people at the club are usually nice too. I feel safe there. No bruh attitude that I’ve detected at other gyms. Folks are just there to do their thing.

I paid for 8 swimming lessons for my granddaughter, who is 5 years old. Unfortunately, the experience has been very disappointing.

The classes are supposed to be 40 minutes, but because of the number of students and how the instructors manage them, my granddaughter only received about 10 minutes of actual instruction each session. The rest of the time she was waiting for her turn while the teacher worked with other kids. This is not how the lessons were advertised.

On top of that, two classes were cancelled without clear communication about when the makeup sessions would be held. Since my granddaughter does not live in California and is returning home soon, it was important to know when (or if) she could attend a makeup class—or if we would receive a refund. When I asked the person in charge of the lessons, he could not answer these simple questions and directed me to managers. The manager I spoke to was condescending, dismissive, and unhelpful. He told me only the general manager could answer my questions, but she was not there. I felt like I was being given the runaround, and no one seemed to know—or care—about resolving the issue.

I paid for a service that was not delivered as described on their website, and when I asked two straightforward questions about makeup classes and refunds, I was met with rudeness and attitude. This is extremely unprofessional, and I would not recommend this facility to other families.

Club is clean, staff is friendly and helpful but geeeeezzzz! People camp out on the popular machines for 20-30 minutes. They do not share between sets. At least do a couple of sets then rotate to another piece of equipment and come back so the rest of us can finish. Its so frustrating for those of us with kids and full time jobs trying to get in a quick complete workout. I’ll probably cancel my membership and work out at home because it seems I’m always leaving before I can get in a full workout at this gym.

This place used to be really nice. It's slowly going down hill. The men's sauna has been "out of order" all week so far, and seems to be down randomly in the mornings at least 2-3 times per month. There are 4-5 treadmills that have out of order signs on them, and today a whole bank of 7 or so were just off. The management really needs to get in front of these items or the problem will just get worse. These issues have been brought to the general manager Abby in the past and they are not being addressed. Really hope they get it together as this is the most convenient location for us.

Update 2/26/2025: The management has stepped up and has been trying to repair the issues in the gym as they pop up. The staff is always really nice and attentive, and that has not changed. There are still issues with the equipment, however they seem more proactive about repairing when it happens.

My family is only going to Brentwood while the Antioch gym's pool is out of service. I can't wait to go back. While Brentwood has better pool ventilation, the pool is smaller and neither of the hot tubs are hot. I estimate the hot tubs are about 90° instead of the standard 102°. The employees said the heat keeps breaking and management hasn't put in a permanent fix yet. And Brentwood ended their towel service. Despite the recent locker room remodel, there's only one accessible shower. All the other showers have a threshold. And the water stank like it had been stagnant in the pipes like they hadn't been cleaning the showers. One good thing I can say about it is they have gendered saunas, which some people might prefer. Otherwise, the gym feels old and cramped with cramped parking too (compact spaces with at least one rude patron that doesn't care if they ding your doors). If I were stuck with this location, I'd cancel my membership.

ive been going to this gym for 15 years they've done some upgrades which has been cool. still not comparable to some gyms with tons of lifting equipment. lots of machines & cardio still. Awesome gym, clean good number of equipment…, all classes and trainers are great at this location…., kudos to Zumba trainer’s Jennifer, Michelle, farrah you people are so good…, because of these 3 amazing Zumba trainers I have chosen Brentwood in shape over the Antioch.

The only con in this gym is in the whole gym there only one rowing machine which is not working from last one month, please add better quality rowing machine

I wish I could’ve written this sooner, I was there last Sunday, sitting at the front playing cards with my buddies after our workout, and randomly one of the staff members, Destiny, came out from behind the counter, and started yelling at her coworker for sitting down, it was extremely unprofessional and it made us uncomfortable being right in the middle of the two. The woman who was yelled at handled it surprisingly well and went home right after. It should never have happened and is not acceptable.

But, I wish they would do something about all the TVs I front of all the cardio Equiptment. It would be nice to be able to zone in on the treadmill and not be bombarded by 17 televisions all flashing different news headlines and channels. The WORST club I've ever been to. Don't waste your money with this place. The gym is being run by a bunch of "children" who don't have a clue about customer experience. I was a member when it was new more than 10 years ago but moved away. I returned to the area and rejoined only to see the place has been stuck in a time machine! The locker room and pool area look exactly the same, no improvements whatsoever yet their fees keep going up. The GM named Destiny has NO concept of customer service and takes zero responsibility for the condition of the club, she just blames the corporate office and the people above her. The City of Brentwood should send in the health department and have this place revamped to better match its premier location and high end neighborhood. Destiny should be replaced with an experienced and more seasoned manager who will take member feedback and actually DO something with it!! Nobody there has answers as to when things will be fixed. A shower in the women's bathroom was out for MONTHS and Destiny said she doesn't know who to call to get it fixed because it's an electrical issue...WHAT?????!

In-shape was acquired by California Family Fitness and they are not investing in their basic clubs, I was told they are paying much more attention to their "premiere" higher end clubs of which there are very few in California. Where does that leave us who have been paying them fees for years and years to use the more basic clubs? Shame on you In-Shape / California Family Fitness!!! Your gym is filthy and will be reported to the Contra Costa County Health Department!

I’ve recently celebrated being a member for a full year so I felt like leaving a review. I go five days a week, and have been to the gym in the mornings, afternoons, and mostly at night. I can confidently say that the front desk and custodial staff are kind, cool, and genuine people who will help you with your needs and more than do their part. As for the equipment and layout, you have just about anything you need for your workouts. The only negative things that can be improved on would be the constant few machines that are broken (weight and cardio alike), physical wear and tear on the floor or equipment (require replacement and not just cleaning), too few of mainly used popular machines and too much unused cardio machines. To be clear, I don’t want to blame the morning or night crew like some people do, they literally have nothing to do with any of the issues, these issues have to be resolved by upper management.

Overall, I have loved my experience here. Fantastic onsite employees, relaxed environment, upper management needs to fix and replace equipment/floors.

While this gym isn’t the most impressive gym I’ve ever been to in terms of size/amenities, the staff is outstanding! The Manager, David has personally assisted me with a myriad of issues and always solves them with a wonderful attitude. Each staff member I have encountered is friendly, helpful and seems to be genuinely happy to be at work. That speaks volumes to me. They are getting back to normal and seem to have come back up to speed somewhat seamlessly. The classes offered are phenomenal and I always feel as though I am absolutely getting my money’s worth. The entire in-shape staff and facility are great. I have rant that I've been holding onto. Im the only person that comes into the gym using a cane. Im sure there have been others, but I never see any. I don't see many people with walking disabilities, at least none that are obvious. But what I do see is all 4 handicapped parking spaces filled. I cant make the call to say everyone of those dont have some physical disability. I can however say "some" of those have an elderly parent or family member, who "are not" with them at that time. So dont park in those spaces!! So I'll park way down at the next building, in front of the "colors salon" and get dirty looks from the employees there. By the time I hobble to the gym and back, ive done half of my workout. 😡

I'm there everyday. I go to all of them. My work territory is throughout the valley and I truly enjoy the staff, the friendly people who work there and the peeps who work out there.
They have fantastic classes and amenities (pool, spa, massage chairs, steam, sauna, great equipment... )
Each club is a little different but all have their strong suits.
They have and continue to upgrade the equipment and the buildings so you'll be happy you worked out!
I started in the free 7 day work out, no pressure to join but I'm happy I did.
You will be too.
Pick your home club or go to multiple one.
Just be happy and healthy.

We've been a member almost a year now. So far no complains. Staff are nice. Restrooms are very clean. My son before was not really used to daycare, but from consistent going he's now

Its was a great facility. but as far as wanting to cancel your membership, there staff is very poor about providing you the correct charges that will be applied. I was told I wouldn't be charged any more fee, but was charged an additional $49.99 for an annual fee after I canceled my account and they told me I wouldn't be charged anything else after they had taken out the last monthly charge. If there staff has little access to our billing, they need to let us know and tell there customers to speak with a financial adviser

This location has friendly team members. Been a member for many years here. My only complaint is that people cheat on the locker room policy by leaving their locks overnight on the non reserved lockers. I've seen the same locks for months on the men lockers number 45, 53 and 55. They're color or unique looking locks so easy to tell. It doesn't seem fair that they can get away with this for months or longer. I wish management would follow their own policy to remove locks left overnight.

I've been coming for almost 2 years and have had nothing but praise to say on this gym & the staff. My daughter loves coming to the Kid Zone & I can see the staff work well with the kids they are watching. As a single parent, the Kid Zone is a blessing. Just not on this weekend!

I went in yesterday with my daughter & niece (my niece has come with us in the past). I paid my $8 and signed the little form for my niece @ the front desk. Walked into the Kid Zone checked my daughter in who is under my membership and gave the form & receipt for my niece. The gal who was checking them in asked if the form was for my daughter. I said No, she is my niece. I was then told an additional form would have to be filled out. They brought over the Manager. I was informed by the Manager that not only would I need my sister's permission, but she would also have to be a Member of the gym in order for me to bring my niece into the Kid Zone....I have never heard of anything so Ridiculous!!!! They want to claim it's for Liability reasons. There is absolutely no difference in Liability if a member is coming in with their child or blood relative. I was unable to work out and the 2 girls were disappointed in not being able to play in the Kid Zone. I have my niece for the weekend....looks like I'll be unable to workout for this weekend!!!
