Concord In-Shape has been maintained in fairly good condition lately. I am pleased with the cleanliness of the men's locker room and the dry sauna, as the temperature is always high. Thank you for the service. I deducted one point because there are no wet wipes available for cleaning the equipment. Instead, there is now a bottle of detergent and a small cloth, which I find very unhygienic. I believe that using a roll of clean paper towels and a spray would be much more effective.

It’s decently expensive and you’re paying for the amenities. The amenities are decent and the gym is large. The bathrooms are always disgusting and equipment is always broken or out of service. For $80 a month I shouldn’t run into broken equipment every-time I go to workout.

I previously belonged to 24 Hour Fitness in Walnut Creek. In Shape is so much better than 24 Hour Fitness. 24 has limited parking and always hard to find parking spot.Plenty of parking at In Shape. In Shape has many more classes and better instructors than 24. In Shape has a lot more strength training and cardio machines than 24 . I wish I joined In Shape a long time ago instead of sticking with 24.

I have been attending In-Shape Concord for 18 months. In that time the outdoor pool has been closed multiple times due to faulty pumps so the water has either been freezing or untreated. The poolside has been muddy or dirty with trash left lying around for days, the shower facilities need a good bleach, and there have been numerous occasions when there have been no towels available. There was also a situation where workmen were allowed in the ladies locker room while 20-30 women were in the process of showering and dressing after aqua fit. The four male workers were coming in and out to fix the steam room and sauna. When confronted they said they had a job to do and it wasn’t their problem. The manager (male) said they had turned up unexpectedly and they both had a business to run. There was a young girl sent in after the first 10 minutes to vaguely tell the ladies that there was work being done but at no time was the area closed. Unfortunately local options for aqua fit classes are limited.

I Signed up the gym for the pool. Last October, the pool was not warm enough, which caused me sick for a week. I put the membership on hold until April, thinking it would be a good time to take my son there as the weather gets warmer. We attempted twice in April, both times we realized that the pool was not available after we got into the pool: first time due to a heater failure and the water was freezing, second time due to a life guard training. The life guard trainer didn’t even allow us to use the two lanes that they are not using. There was no clear notice of the unavailability of pool. Not going back to this place.

I’ve been coming to In-Shape for the last four years, hitting the gym at least three times a week, and overall I really enjoy it. The staff is great, and while the cleanliness can be hit or miss at times, it’s never been a dealbreaker. One of the things I appreciate most is that there are always enough machines available—especially in the mornings. It’s never overly crowded, and I can always get in a solid workout without having to wait around.

The class options are also a nice touch. That said, I do have one complaint: there’s a class during the week around 4 PM that takes up a big chunk of the gym floor. They rope off a large section—right in the middle of the gym—and sometimes it’s just two people using the space. Meanwhile, that time of day is super busy with high schoolers working out, and it ends up taking away about a quarter of the gym. I think that setup is unnecessary and could be improved—maybe move the class to a later time or find a better space for it.

So far I have enjoyed this inshape. The front desk always has a full staff and they are very attentive and friendly. There is plenty of equipment to choose from, and staff wiping them down often. There are several different areas to workout in so you may find your comfort level. They offer a wide variety of classes, with very experienced instructors, that are all included at an affordable cost and easily allow you to include your whole family in the package.

My complaints:

I wish they did more to appeal to a younger crowd. Have younger instructors for the classes, I am 37 years old and I often feel out of place in the classes because I seem to be about 15+ years younger than the average person in class, 😳 including the instructors.

I wish the offered a tanning bed and natural juices.

I wish they would offer one/two classes per week during the lunch hours.

That’s it really! So far, so good.

I was a member until I went on medical leave 6 months ago , you have 6 months leave allowed. I was unable to drive and they will not cancel by app despite being told by staff I can . So after I can drive and seeing I was billed again , forced to go in club to cancel in person and had been told manager could reverse charge . The manager would not even come speak with me , it’s alright until you really need service, other companies that are more cooperative with someone with medical issues and actively trying to cancel after not using their facility for over 6 months. They just wanted to take money at the time I could least afford it.

In my opinion, this entire gym needs an upgrade. There are so many dead areas that aren’t utilized and so many crowded areas that are congested. In the women’s area a quarter of the treadmills do not work. There are barely any dumbbells that have a matching pair, when you try to talk to the people at the front desk about it, They seem mildly annoyed that you are even trying to converse with them. I would recommend extending the women’s area and adding stair climbers as well as more weights. I would also recommend air-conditioning in the cardio area because it is generally incredibly hot. Apparently there is a shortage on dumbbells, which is mind blowing for a gym in my opinion. This could be a great gym, but it is outdated, dingy, and not Supplied well.

I hate going late at night and the employees trying to rush and close the sauna or steam room while still under hours of operation. The man’s showers can used some fix . This is regarding a membership I attempted to cancel in August due to moving. InShape hasn’t responded to ANY customer service tickets, emails, or documents mailed throughout the past two months. They’ve charged me for two months after moving. This was my email from yesterday:

I’d like to point out a few things first. The Manager, Alisha, said my “hold” was submitted on September 1st, but in my forwarded email, the confirmation email regarding my hold was sent on August 31st (look at date/time of confirmation email.) This hold was only submitted because the cancellation wouldn’t go through on the app. (Again, I was told I can cancel immediately through the app, before the end of the month by the receptionist at Clayton). Below is also the screenshot from the website giving instructions on how to cancel. This same option was there the last week of August but nothing would happen when I tried to click cancel on the app. Saying you can only cancel in person, is not true. I did NOT remove the hold either. Someone on the corporate side removed it so they could charge me the membership fee as well. You can see my email in your system after noticing the hold remove, and getting charged. According to these instructions I don’t even need to submit proof of moving. The receptionist, your website, and app all said and showed that I could cancel before the month started on the app and online. I contacted corporate at that time saying that I was trying to cancel online but nothing was happening. No one EVER responded.
You’ve charged me for September, October, and a hold fee when you didn’t “hold” anything. I’ve never gotten ANY responses after so many emails, and also sending my flight info. If you needed more proof that I moved you should’ve responded saying so. I should NOT have had to call Alisha 4 times and use valuable time just to hear my proof of moving wasn’t sufficient enough. Even though I don’t even need to show that I moved, the attached is also a weekly invoice for the temporary place I’m staying at. I do not have utilities or a rental agreement, this is a camping/yurt resort, Lupin Lodge.
I’m a special needs music teacher at various Santa Clara County Schools for medically fragile students. I lived up the road from this lodge in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Los Gatos. After the storms my place was ruined by leaks, leaving indoor mold and mushrooms. Believe it or not, a few days after I left, my 16yr old dog (soulmate) suddenly died while I was away at work. You can see posts of that on my Instagram, which you’ll find from the comments on your most recent post that I made. I decided to stay with my mom in Clayton. Guess how I decided to try and decompress and heal from losing my dreamhome, my dog, struggling to keep shelter dogs from being euthanized via fostering, and from working with severely medically fragile children daily? Yes! I decided to get a gym membership! That was the GOAL of getting this membership!

Today they “credited” a month to my membership account LOL. Am I supposed to drive over an hour to the gym? What about the other month and hold fee? STILL no responses via email or calls explaining ANYTHING

Very disappointed, today was my first time in yoga flow( also first time in my life in a gym) at the end of the class the instructor told me that I should try other classes and find my flow. I didn’t know what to say but it really broke something inside me because she doesn’t know for all the things I have been through and I took yoga because my Dr. told me to do it. Nice gym, well-maintained, with clean good-looking showers. It is a clean place with good quality people. Not too many Reckless teenagers. As a matter of fact, not too many youngsters around, probably because it's not one of those $10 per month gyms. If a little more, but you get more too. One advantage is that there are lots of classes which are free and usually the gym is not packed. The swimming pool Works 365 days in a year being warmed up. The parking lot is good size too. Let's not forget the complementary daycare. Very basic, but complimentary.

I loved going to this gym. They offer so many great things like a pool basketball court classes and areas to lift weights. But their new kid zone policy is totally dysfunctional. In the past we were able to schedule a time slot through the app, but since the new year started they scrapped the old policy and now it’s a free for all restaurant style first come first serve. They are not prepared for the amount of children that show up now. They must hire a few more kid zone employees. The manager Adam Haro has not taken this matter seriously. Parents have wait times ranging from 15 mins to 45 minutes. I love in shape but I may leave considering I keep missing my workout as well as various other parent clients who are stuck in a waiting limbo. I love the staff they do an amazing job. Shout out to Chabnam from the kid zone she absolutely deserves a raise she treats the kids with respect is very kind to all and is the most responsible person at this gym. Danae also deserves a raise she is very kind and sweet towards the children. Amandria from zumba is an amazing instructor and she deserves a raise as well. she has created a supportive empowering space for any beginner to pickup and enjoy dance. These outstanding employees deserve a raise. It is their hard work and customer service that has attracted more patrons to the gym. It is time for management to support their amazing staff and hire at least 3 more people to accommodate the amount of children at the kid zone. Think twice if you signed up here and have children.

When I saw $45.97 deduction from my bank count on 10/2/2020, I called In-Shape to help me cancel my account because I have not been living in the area. I was told they could not help me if I would not come in person to the club, but covid cases were highly increasing and I needed an appointment to do it. I was given a number to call to cancel, I was told my wait time was more than 45 minutes, and I was disconnected and could not get a hold of anybody when I called again. It was terrible call time when I had to do it during my lunch break. Today, I called In-Shape again due to another deduction of $94.99 on 11/3/2020. There was no clear explanation except that my previous contact did not grant me the cancellation that's why I was charged again (more than double this time) and the lady named Karla said they will not refund my money. How pathetic it is to hear that they take your money like they don't care at all. Customer service is very poor. The lady in the Concord In-Shape was very rude when I offered to give my member number. She asked me, "For what???". Never again. I lost my respect and loyalty after being there for years.

I have been a member at a plethora of gyms, this is the BEST gym I have been a member at. This gym is HUGE, and for all the different types of exercise one can do to stay IN SHAPE here, a excellent price. Some gyms I've been to can be pick up places, NOT HERE.

People that work here are very respectable and friendly. I hope they have the same manager when they re-open, he is the coolest dude. I like the upstairs work out room, where one can do just about any type of work out, tends to be very quiet in this room. I miss...

The great work outs, the cool people that work here, and also special thanks to Anthony the personal trainer that gave me an excellent session. I hope they will open again when it's safe to open.

This club has made a lot of progress in the past year with General Manager Doug Cervantes. I highly recommend this club for all the right reasons. The club has gone through a miraculous conversion that only someone like Doug could have done. This gym is a perfect place to join, with weight-lifting, racquetball, various machine to help you fine tune your body goals, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, full size basketball court, cardio area, plus a lot more. Give InShape a chance to make you a believer.

Been going to this place since they took over from Mavericks. Parking lot leaves MUCH to be desired, can't read lines and people almost hit you every day. If you know where everything is inside, then you have enough equipment to handle a good workout. Overall the only place I know of to play some racquetball, I go for that a lot.

I love this gym! Moved to the area last month and I was looking for an place that offers lots of different classes and is clean. This place is awesome, they have a lot of different workout rooms and everyone can find something they like. The locker rooms are clean and spacious.

I like this location. Clean and new. Plenty of space and air. Original modern design. Friendly employees, many great areas for working out. Good store with aminos and bcaa. Large parking spot. Many yangs motivated members around what makes me fill charged and refreshed to the new achievements.

Really like this place overall. Its spacious, has a pool, basketball court, towel svc, classes, not a meat market, and u can always find a corner to stretch alone and zone out. Pretty good pluses at an affordable rate.
