Been coming to this location for about 5 years now and I love it. Kids like it too. When my son was 4 year old, he called it "gym school" . My only complaint is it gets really hot inside, like the AC is NEVER on. Other than that.....and they need to have a space for smaller lockers on the floor, which you can bring your own lock for. Because not everyone needs a big locker for a wallet and a purse. Also the pool deck needs to be redone cuz it's like walking on rocks.

This location's staff is very friendly and the cleanliness is on point. I always see the staff roaming the floor and taking care of any issues. Anytime I've asked to have an equipment tended to or if I have a simple question, they're always present and willing. 10/10 location!

At the In-Shape on Laguna Blvd, I wanted to purchase a drink but was told I’d have to wait 15 minutes. When I asked about it, the staff even told me that I “have to do my job,” which was surprising — I thought providing service to customers was their job. This was my first experience there, and it left a really bad impression. Hopefully, management addresses this kind of attitude

In shape is trash. Stuff always broken dirty. They are either huge mega gyms with 1000 people or weird somehow. All

Expect. $75 a month when other gyms are around $20 then $3 a month extra if you don’t use a bank account and $10 extra if you are late on your payment!!!
They are pricing it like they are better than other gyms when that’s not the case. I’d pick planet fitness or 24 hour fitness even if they were all the same price.

I’ve been going to this gym since 2016. It’s been a great gym. We keep upgrading things innovative but today I found out they’re a little bit too much. I went to do a Hydro massage and use my 2000 points or so I never use, but now they don’t take points. You have to upgrade your membership. I said never mind but he said I could get a free smoothie with my points once a month so I said sure let’s do that but then I have to open the app log into another website to do that which is very redundant and it was under my wife’s email, which is very frustrating. I explained the redundancy to the manager how silly it is for me to be in the app log into another app which I did not have the password for and my wife’s email so I have to contact her for a free smoothie but my app is already under my name kind of a silly concept. It was very nice about it. I think kind of a dumb process that utilize your points that I’ve never even used. I explained to Deryk the manager how that was kind of dumb. He understood my frustrations but instead of just tossing a member who has been there for nine years a free smoothie he just let me leave frustrated not the best customer service, but it is what it is.

Great gym overall, but locker issues need fixing

I’ve been going to the In-Shape on Laguna Blvd in Elk Grove. The gym itself is spacious, clean, and has a good variety of equipment. The Kids Club is a lifesaver, my child actually looks forward to going, which makes it so much easier for me to get my workouts in. The pool area is also a great feature, especially during the summer. It’s family friendly and well maintained.

My biggest complaint is the locker situation. The lockers constantly get stuck or won’t open at all. I’ve had to ask staff for help multiple times, most of the time the phone is busy when calling or there is only one staff member who can't leave the front desk area. I’ve seen other members struggling too. It’s frustrating when you’re on a tight schedule or trying to keep your belongings safe.

If management could just fix the lockers, this gym would easily be a 5 star spot. For now, I’m giving it 4 stars because everything else is great, but that issue really needs attention.

Nice place for regular people but I must give a one star only because they don't take cash payments. I have noticed lots of small fees form credit card process or returned payments with credit. In-Shape Laguna, in my opinion, is the best In-Shape out there. From the staff’s knowledge, efficacy, and competence, to the cleanliness of the gym, these things make my experience invaluable. Management has done a tremendous job with keeping this place running smoothly, clean and orderly. When there is an issue, management responds in a timely manner. The front desk staff are always welcoming and knowledgeable about the gym. They always present a smile when I walk in and are willing to help with all needs. Janitorial staff are hardworking and keep the gym looking great! Lastly, the trainers are amazing! They all bring a different skillset to the table and are willing to help out at any time. Phil is my guy! He’s changed how I approach my workouts and most of all my diet. I now look good and confident in my large shirts. Never will I need to look elsewhere for a gym when In-Shape Laguna is the pinnacle of what one should be.

Swimmers, spend your member fees somewhere else. When the lap pool is open, it's great. However over the past few months, the availability of the lap pool has been very inconsistent due to construction, malfunctions of the heater and classes. Communication about availability during construction has been inconsistent and at times confusing. I'll be looking for a different pool.

In Shape fitness was previously known as California Fitness. With the recent change in management, they have made several changes to the gym. I like the outdoor area for swimming.

My kids love the kids gym. There have been several incidents, my son was bullied there. At times, it's the same child that has repetitive behavior problems. Although they contact the parents, the child is back again. I like the fact we can exercise while kids can play.

I like some of their workout classes. But I hate the monthly gym price.

Condition of all equipment should be checked frequently. Last time I was there, hot water was not working in the shower & water spraying from the showerhead. Sometimes jacuzzi & dry sauna are down for long time, it is not acceptable for customers who are paying to use them.

I like the fact, they brought in new equipment, but the old equipment remains neglected and broken. Most of the rubber handles have worn off, there’s a bicep machine that has been broken for months with no signs of it even being worked on. The closing crew is not required to do the job, actually they’re getting paid to not do their job and when staff and members come in when they open in the morning, there is trash on the ground, plastic water bottles, Dumbbells scattered around the floor, bars with plates on them, trash, cans full, paper towel dispensers empty, soap dispensers empty … Quality has seriously gone down since Cal fit bought out in shape.

I had a frustrating experience with this gym’s cancellation process. Despite canceling 30 days ahead of time (cancelation policy), paying my final month’s fees, and even paying a $250 early cancellation fee, I was still hit with a prorated bill for the "last month’s" usage, which was never mentioned during the cancellation process.

I’ve been a member of several other gyms (24 Hour Fitness, City Sports, Gold’s Gym), and I’ve never encountered such a difficult and costly process to simply cancel a membership. The lack of transparency and excessive fees is ridiculous.

There is so much to love about In Shape Family Fitness!!! I love how open, big and cheery the building is! From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the staff and feel the energy of the whole place, it puts you in a great mindset to workout!! When it comes to working out, there’s so much variety, it’s awesome!! My husband and I both go, and there are so many weights and machines that he likes, geared towards his goals, and so many other machines and cardio options that I like, geared towards my target areas!!!! I love that they have big locker rooms for me to keep my stuff in while I workout! It’s nice to have the option of showering and changing there if you want to. It’s an experience that you actually look forward to because it’s fun! Honestly, I can spend hours there! I also love the tanning included in my membership… and the massage chairs are a wonderful reward after a long workout! My husband and I both love In Shape!

A disgrace to “Family Fitness”… two kids spit on my 3 yr old child (one of the children turned the jets off to the jacuzzi and groans up were already asking where his mother was) while I was teaching my other child how to swim. The manager on staff did nothing about it and the mother just rolled her eyes at me and my daughter getting dressed to leave. The staff here have a child mindset about solving conflict. It does not appear that InShape actually hires anyone with true customer service experience. I will definitely be letting everyone I know about this company’s customer service and safety issues. If there was no problem seen here I can only imagine what goes on in the “CHILDS SAFE PLAY”… I’m worried about the time I have left my children. It’s clear In Shape wants to pay people $15 or $16 to work there because they have no experience but charge almost $100 per adult and $25 per child… I refuse. I finally thought we had a gym we could go to as a family but I guess not. My children’s safety doesn’t matter. Apparently, people do not need to watch their children… and apparently, if you complain about someone or something who is causes issues, nothing is done. I wish I could give zero stars.

Yeah I’m disgusted with y’all, I cancelled within my first month and y’all still charged me. Will never be returning to this embarrassment of an establishment.

My family and I workout pretty consistently at the Laguna location. Great gym hours! There are plenty machines throughout the gym which is a thumbs up! Nice variety of classes. Massage tables are a plus!

It would be helpful if they posted a basketball/paddle ball schedule online.

The cement needs paving on one end of the Olympic pool. Currently you are at risk to cut your feet.

Also, it does not appear that they use a pool sweeper on a regular basis but douse the pool with solution only, very much cloudy and lots of dirt on pool floor.

Prefer this location's pool since it is outdoors, but with recent heat wave water level has dropped below skimmers. Also they rented or are allowing a Rehab business to use the pool which makes it far busier and more crowded. No posting on what dates/hours that occurs. Called today to ask what days/hours that was happening. Put on hold for 15 mins to get answer, and nobody ever came back on line.

Management doesn’t care about the basketball court. We’ve been telling them that the rim inside the gym is broken and is unusable. This has been broken for over two weeks. How long does it take to order a rim and install? Sure as hell doesn’t take two weeks. They don’t care; as long as they’re getting memberships in and people working out in their machines. A typical membership is north of $60 a month and they can’t even keep a professional image with their facilities with the lack of maintenance and repair. Typical corporation. All money.

I just thought I would update my previous 2-star review of this facility since I've noticed some significant improvements, especially, when it comes to the cleanliness. It's a night and day difference. So whoever was the housekeeping staff on Sunday, 5/26/24, I'd like to say great job! He definitely deserves some sort of recognition from the management team of this Inshape gym.

I signed for membership with the assistant manager I left the next month. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of machines everything was very old and was over all a bad fit for me. I canceled the member ship with same guy. Well, he never canceled the membership he was playing games and kept telling me I need to keep my account active for 3 months minimum just full of it. The club has been great in general. My only disappointment would be that most of the pool deck refurbishing was never finished at Laguna, but only a smaller center portion. You need to walk across a gritty surface, like a work zone, to get anywhere to enjoy the pools and hot tub. It's been like this for months.

The Kids Zone has been greatly beneficial for me. I have a 2 year old daughter who warmed up right away to the caring staff and now looks forward to going to “mommy’s gym.” They are instant to learn kids names and who their parents are. Even with caring for many toddlers and infants, they are so tender and attentive. This sort of attention has been beyond what I expected for such a busy gym. This has freed up a lot of times/options for me to workout during the week and we will be regularly attending In-Shape Laguna.

Since they changed to inshape they changed all their fees and don't honor their previous commitments to their existing members. I called to find out about the changes and they just refer to being in shape now. You don't have access to other clubs anymore unless you pay additional fees also.

I loved going to this Gym previously. I was just notified I have to bring my cell phone to get in, add an App to my phone, sign a waiver in case my $1,000 phone that they require I bring is stolen from one of their lockers. My husband's locker was broken into twice at this facility! No way will I sign a waiver to release them from liability for something they require I bring. My husband doesn't have a smart phone so I guess they won't admit him even though we already paid for a couple's membership for the month. I am an old school senior citizen. Why must you bring a smart phone with their App to enter their gym, and what will they do to reimburse us now that my husband can't enter the gym, even though we paid for it?

I've been a member here about a year. It's a great gym that offers a lot. However, I don't use the pool, spa, sauna, basketball courts, yoga room, spin room, aerobics room, racket ball courts, rock climbing wall, massage beds, tanning, or showers. I'm thinking there are cheaper options since all I use is workout equipment.

It is also very crowded after 5pm. I don't bother going in the evenings because everything I need has a line. One exception would be the cardio area. There are a LOT of treadmills, bikes, stair climbers, ellipticals, etc.

I've noticed they are quite slow at repairing broken equipment. Certain machines have been broken for a month or more. I guess it forces you to change up your workout. But with less available machines, it just makes it more likely that whatever you need will be occupied.

We have been members of this gym for about 9 months now. We have used the gym on our own, utilized the personal training packages, and joined some classes. They offer a lot of options for individuals and families. We like that there's childcare, so if we come on the weekends, during holidays/breaks, or during the day, we can bring the kids. They enjoy the space.
The equipment is usually in working order. If there's a machine out of service, it's typically fixed by the next time I come in (2-3 days later).
The pools are great for workouts as well as family fun time. The large pool is slightly heated, so it's never hard to get in, but it's not too warm.
The smaller kid pool is not heated, but the really shallow part doesn't get too cold when it's hot out. There's also a water play area that dumps water, has sprays, and timed waterfalls, which is fun for the kids.
There are lots of class options in the mornings and evenings.
They have a large rock climbing wall, but it's been closed since we've been members, which is a shame. I wish they'd open it back up.

Love the variety of classes at the two locations near me, Laguna and Bond. My favorite classes are Gentle yoga on Monday and Wednesday, All Level Yoga Tuesday & Thursday at Bond location and Friday at Laguna location. It’s a good way to have flexibility to attend yoga class at least two days-week. I fell like I got a massage after class. I keeps me in shape and helps with balance.

Hello,

This review is for the swim department. John the manager has been wonderful and so accommodating in finding the right schedule for my two kids who we enrolled in swimming. Our instructor is Tanya and she is amazing. Within just a few sessions my son was able to front and back float as well as dive ! Highly recommend enrolling your children for swim lessons here. A few of the other instructors have also been very friendly and greeted us on the many visits we have been there.

The gym is nice but the pool is always dirty there are alot of black thing inside pool and i believe they never changed the water on whole year

The sauna here is almost always 200+ degrees. I switched to calfit because 24 is either super dirty and gross or they have no sauna but the sauna here is over temp 80% of the time. Super annoying considering the high monthly compared to every other gym in the area.

Oh my God is what i can say. Please dont become a member of California Family Fitness(Robbers). They are daylight robbers. After covid they trying to make up for the loss. We joined here last year Aug 2022. When we joined we were told 1 month is free and our state employee discounted rate would be 103/month. I trusted them and joined the club. 8 months later i look at my credit card and i have been charged 154/month. The reason they say is we did not submit the employee verification. Reason this happened - The staff who took us in told us that we do not have to submit and "it has been taken care of" . And why we thought that is true is because we were previous clients of CalFit and had already submitted the proof pre covid so thought it will be on file. Now we call the corporate office and the agent just hung up on me instead of finding a solution for this mix up. I think it is run by thugs.. So rude!!! Please beware when you join! 4 of my friends were planning to join and i had all praises for this place. So sad to see this happening. Saved my friends right on time. At least saved 4 peoples monthly. And thankfully Karma exists so lets see where they will get with the money they stole!!

Wow, just read another review and found that the agent we were tricked by was the same - Kate Perry. She just lost business and reputation for Calfit!!
