I enjoy working ng out at this club. There are so many choices for everyone, no matter your age or fitness level. There is a good vibe here, lots of members working on their fitness. The equipment is all in working condition and is laid out nicely. A special thanks to Joanne at the front desk, she is one of the kindest people I know. She knows most of the members by name and always greets me with a "Good Morning" and a big smile. I take Michelle's Zumba class on Tuesday and she is an incredible instructor. She is so positive and encouraging to everyone and it is a pleasure to be in her class. The only thing I could ask for is there are never enough cleaning supplies. Sometimes the spray bottles are empty, the towel dispensers need refilling and there are no wipes to clean the equipment. Overall very good place to workout.

Found out Alignment of Medicare provides a gym membership. I chose InShape because of all the amenities available there; swimming, weights, spin classes, and elliptical machines, among other things. You have to schedule your swimming sessions, but that's a good thing.

I’ve been a loyal member of In-Shape for over 8 years and 7 months, and I’m extremely disappointed with how I was treated during my recent visit.

When I arrived, the front desk staff informed me that my membership had been canceled and I needed to renew. She showed me the computer screen and asked me to re-enter my personal information. As I began doing so, her attitude shifted — she assumed an unnecessarily authoritative tone, refused to honor a valid discount promo code I received through my father (who works for the State), and insisted I pay extra.

This wasn’t about the promo code — it was about how she treated me. Her role is to assist members, not to act like a gatekeeper or dictate where people sit in the lobby. It felt more like dealing with a security officer than a customer service representative.

Unfortunately, this experience has led me to cancel my membership. If this is the kind of behavior In-Shape allows at the front desk, I wouldn’t be surprised if more long-time members walk away too.

You’ve lost one member — and possibly many more if this continues.

I was a reluctant spectator to a disgruntled and insecure middle-aged, built man getting hostile to a much younger and skinnier man today.

I've been a customer of In-Shape on and off. I've been to ones in Stockton, Ceres, Turlock, and Elk Grove. Even going as far to Yuba City and i am not exaggerating when I say I saw the management deal with the situation UNPROFESSIONALLY.

It was obvious that a few of the workers were friendly with the aggressor and were immediately dismissive to this young kid and his two friends. It started off as an awkward exchange because the older man was gone for about 10 minutes at this cable machine and just left his bag there. And then the kid used it after hearing the guy was gone a long time. Things seemed cool at first and the older dude 'let him' finish his set, but I think the older guy thought the younger dude was making fun of him (I think he was insecure and thinking him and his friends said something) and he started acting like a typical 'roided out gym guy you'd see going viral on Tiltok. The thing is, management took his side from the get-go even though it was the younger guy's friend who summoned the workers. I was actually visiting this gym with a paid visit pass, but I'm never coming back. It was embarrassing to see the innocent party being berated and interrogated like they were criminals.

There are much better options in the central valley. The pool is cool and all, but I'm not giving them another cent out of principle.

Angelica, Kathey and Kat are amazing trainers. I wish they had more body pump classes at 5 AM. It’s kind of disappointing that In-Shape Modesto only offers one 5 AM class for body pump. Most people are already at work by 8 AM. Going to the gym after work is rough on most parents due to child activities and homework. I would love to see more body pump early in the morning.

Attending Aqua Fit water exercises at In Shape McHenry since August 2021; my weight's dropped from 185 to 164 and I've gained more range of motion in my right shoulder. I attend classes faithfully up to 8 times per week plus I've found that you can do almost anything in the water with very little pain. PLUS my lab tests on 04/26/22 showed that my A1C was 5.5 with the other numbers all within the normal range. My doctor has lowered my Metformin time release from 2 tablets nightly at 750 mg each to 1 tablet nightly at 500 mg; he said if I keep losing weight, he will eventually take me off the diabetic meds. Loving myself just the way I am for now and definitely loving life more. My coach is Joni ~ her focus is the whole body. I've recently discovered Sherrie ~ her focus is the core. Between Joni and Sherrie, you are sure to get a well rounded workout.

I like this place, but I don't like that they pretty much let anyone in for free. There's this younger dude I see there all the time, talk to him every week or two, and every time he tells me about how the front desk just let him in for free. Don't even make him pay for a day pass. He says he brings his friends/family too and they just walk in. Kind of crazy how much I pay to go here every month when I guess I could just get in for free.

Yesterday I purchased a membership for Inshape, and today I attempted to use the gym on mchenry for the first time in years.

Not even 20 minutes into my work out there is an announcement, "they are towing cars outside near H&R Block." Now normally I wouldn't think nothing of it but the parking lot was so full I had to park my car very far because there was not even one spot available... Lo and behold my car was being towed, when I go outside. Not only that, the guys who towed my car dropped it off the tow truck and damaged my front end of my new car.

This gym was so packed there was hardly enough space to get an excercise done in the weight room...not one machine availble in the functional training area. this gym need's to make more parking available or have a maximum capacity or something, or at least be more diligent protecting its members cars. I joined for the sauna and the steam room. But I don't even know if I want to go back here .. be CAREFUL PARKING THERE IT COULD COST YOU 500+ to get out of the tow yard. I had to pay 155 on the spot to have them take it off the truck and now I'm dealing with an insurance claim. Worst experience for the 1st day at this gym. Negative 5 stars

Multiple areas to work out, variety of equipment, functional fitness area, open, clean and staff is knowledgeable and helpful when needed. Love Love that this particular location has racquetball courts and now has pickleball available, which I am hoping means tournaments will be coming soon. This particular location is much more modern than some in this area and this is why I have made it my home gym!! Parking is difficult during peak times but that is an issue at most In-Shape facilities except perhaps Briggsmore due to it being in a strip mall area. I also enjoy the outdoor pool although it's super cold some days it is mostly refreshing after a hard workout or on a hot summer day. As long as pricing doesn't get any higher then I already am paying I will be a long haul customer, even though I can do most things the gym has outdoors or go to a lake, reservoir area etc... It is nice to have all in one.

In-Shape McHenry needs to work on keeping up with cleaning the pools!! Indoor and outdoor pools are disgustingly dirty. The pools are turning murky because of the amount of algae around the walls and bottom of the pool. This is a serious problem! They need to maintain the pools clean unless they want to have life threatening bacterias swimming around their pool. For how expensive the membership is the LEAST In shape can do is keep up with cleanliness!!

Swimming pools: the only redeeming quality of this place.
If you like doing the treadmills or the bikes, be prepared. They will not change the TV channels to ESPN, FS1, or any sports under any circumstances. Have fun working out while being subjected to nonstop fox news. They won’t even switch the channels if the 49ers or Warriors are playing- “we just don’t do that, it’s corporate policy” is the catty response we got during our “tour” of the place.
The other excuse was “well if everyone asks us to change the channel….”.
Sorry, for the monthly rates you charge, it’s fair to expect a very reasonable (and truly minor) accommodation.
Watching sports while working out (instead of news, or the negativity of politics) is apparently unheard of in these here parts🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
I used to come here years ago when it was the local YMCA; a shame we lost such a good community facility.

I've been going to InShape for about 4.5 years now, and I absolutely love it. The staff is always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The manager, Darae, always makes you feel at home. There's no other place like this. I've tried several other gyms in the area, but this is the one that sticks. They offer a great selection of drinks and snacks at the front, endless treadmills, workout areas, and machines. All the classes are included in your membership, so you really get your money's worth. I will always recommend this place to others.

It's a low 3 right now. 2.5, really. Hot tub is down. Spoke again with the front desk about the therapy pool (which IS advertised as a therapy pool) and how cold the water is. He tried to tell me they kept the water cooler for liability reasons. This is bunk. Most of the people using that pool are people using it for therapy. It needs to be warm enough not to cause muscles to seize up when using it. It shouldn't be so cold you can't walk into it without waiting for your body to adjust. If the equipment is broken or you don't want to pay the electric bill, just say so. You wouldn't have a hot tub if the issue with properly heating the therapy pool was liability. Otherwise, it's been a decent experience so far.

Overall, the gym is good, but I have complaints about the ease of using the pool. I’m glad they’re having swim lessons, but I’ve showed up on multiple occasions and I can’t swim because they’re doing swim lessons. As a member of not notified the time of the swim lesson so I can avoid those times I decided to use the swim lanes. Last time there was two open swim lanes. I did know that there is a reservation system, but I just assumed if lanes were empty, I could use it and if someone told me that they had a reservation, I would’ve gladly got out of the the pool.
Johnny. an employee in shape, came to me and complained about me swimming without a reservation. She could’ve been friendly and explained the process, but she was very rude and actually condensating, and she called me “honey”. She appeared that she wanted to be confrontational as I also told her I would gladly get out of the pool if somebody needed to use it, and then they were empty lanes. I hope she sees this management sees this and they can work on their communication style. Also, a note to management. It’s hard to know if you’d like to swim with the last few minutes and there’s an open lane you think you’d be able to swim

Childcare has a waitlist when you go to workout things they don’t tell you when you sign up. If you need childcare at your gym try another place.
