I’ve been coming to this gym in the early mornings for a little over a year, and I’m consistently blown away by the energy and positivity from the staff. Particularly John, Erika, and Dallas. They’re always there, greeting everyone with genuine enthusiasm and going above and beyond their duties. It’s truly remarkable how upbeat and encouraging they are at such an early hour; it makes it an absolute pleasure to walk through the doors and start the day.

The gym itself is clean, well-maintained, and has great lighting with large windows. There’s also a solid variety of exercise equipment.

This gym has a great atmosphere, thanks in large part to the morning crew!

DISGUSTING GYM!!! It’s not the staff, they try. The members are inconsiderate. Locker room is gross and always wet with dirty towels, toilets are unusable, and the showers are often filthy. People will sometimes poop in the indoor pool as well. I don’t know how these people were raised, but this place is not treated like their home. I also get a bad vibe from some of the members. I was confronted by a kid saying I was “getting too close” when on a machine next to him. I tried apologizing, even though I did nothing and he rejected my fist bump. They want to charge me $250 for breaking my contract after explaining the situation. I’m gonna try and circumvent that and join another gym. But… if you’re the type of person who has IBS and likes to eat Taco Bell and destroy toilets before your workout, by all means, this gym is for you.

I was a member for 6 weeks. Half the time I made a reservation for the lap pool I couldn’t use it because they wouldn’t put the ropes on correctly and the lanes were always a mess. When I brought it up I got excuses. I cancelled my membership. One month later they still charged me a yearly fee. From their online support during membership and after I never got a reply after multiple incident reports. No phone number. Nothing. Bad business practices.

Come try the VTL classes - the punching bags are really great and the room and equipment are super clean and modern. I enjoy classes taught by Ari! And the Thursday night Latin dance (aka Zumba) with Novi blows my mind! It's intense in the best ways possible. Also, the showers and bathroom are always clean and this is an idyllic and affordable gym!

I have been going to the VTL classes for 2 years now. The staff at this gym are amazing! The gym is clean and organized. The coaches are knowledgeable, kind and truly care about your fitness. They have personal trainers that are eager to help you reach your goals. I did a free session with Eduardo and he listened to my goals and showed me what i could do to meet my goals. He focuses on stability and form. He helped improve my form and i felt new muscles activated in the short amount of time we had to train. I would recommend not only the VTL classes but the personal training. Free sessions! Do it!

The low star reviews are straight up misguided, or just simply don't understand the appeal of this gym. It's incredible and well worth the time and money from what I've been able to tell the months I've been going.

Employees are beyond friendly. I mean not only in ways that they'd chat you up, welcome you with a smile, but even give advice if you need it. They aren't only trainers, but they workout there themselves, too. They know more ball than you'd think, I'll admit. Even got workout equipment in stock you may not have ready to borrow (like a weighted belt for pull ups, for instance)

Also, the maintenance guy, is ALWAYS on it, doing something to fix one thing or another, God bless him, really. The locker rooms have someone in there almost regularly to do their tabs and runs on everything, they occasionally re-rack the whole stack of weights if it goes empty and they get scattered. Never seen it with my own eyes, but no way a regular gym go-er is just doing that themselves, they just kind of.. appear, and I love it.

The community there is also super friendly, helpful, and supportive as a whole.

I love the pool for laps and always am able to access the free weights/weight machines whenever I go in for a lunch workout. Amenities are well appointed and I find the VTL membership offers a great deal of value for the money. I really love the addition of the Your Reformer! Reservation process is easy and the on demand workouts are great! Really thankful to have this option as part of my fitness regimen.

It’s the best place to work out in Napa!

I love going to In-Shape because it’s so close to where I live, which makes it easy to fit into my daily routine. Swimming, running, and weightlifting help me stay active and energized throughout the day. On top of that, my personal trainers keep me motivated and on track, making every workout both effective and enjoyable.

I love this gym, however, I wish they would clean the locker rooms a little more with maybe a pressure washer or something. The changing room and the showers are really gross. Also, when amenities that you pay for are broken, there is no clarification of when they will be up and running. Maybe they can let people know ahead of time that the services are down. My home gym. Facilities are always clean, rarely are machines Out of order. Can get busy as this is right next to the college. Some gym goers lack etiquette to allow others to “work in” as they take extended rest periods. Plenty of cardio equipment. No Versa climber but plenty of other options. Poop

I had not belonged to a gym for 30 years. I joined In-Shape Napa 3 months ago and committed to working with trainer Danya for 3 months to understand correct form and new ways to add muscle. I am very happy with In-Shape...first everyone is always always nice and friendly whether it be the front desk, the trainers, those who clean...just always always friendly to customers. And second, I want to complement Danya for her introduction to the gym, exercises, muscle building concepts, etc. My 3 months results are more than I expected. Very very pleased!!!

I have on and off joined this gym multiple times to see if I could enjoy it but sadly this will be my last time.
Paid extra a month to take the VTL boxing and when I entered, was told the boxing bags were removed and I had to buy my own hand wraps for the next class. If I want to shadow box I can do that at home for free.
Indoor pool has unfinished paint job, and members told me their friends got sick from swimming in there because there is mold.
Asked for a patient personal trainer and got someone not like my request. Told trainer about my arm/hand injury and pushed me to the point I hurt the hand I told them I have an injury. Explained my budget and they persisted for me to go broke for their services. I expect professionalism and got the furthest from it.
Equipment is always broken: sauna was down for 2 months, massage chairs are broken, equipment is broken half the time.
Staff is very friendly though! Appreciate how kind and patient some of the front desk members are, my first day back and there was only one person working who couldn't give me a tour so she explained where things are and answered all of my questions.
All on all, I'm spending $25 at another gym because at least I'm getting exactly what I pay for.

I like the child care facility, all the people are extremely nice and qualified. I would give it 5 stars because they have recently improved their maintenance. However, the setting sun shines directly into the west windows. It is blinding and hot! I joined this club specifically so I could use the hot tub. I brought my friend in because she was looking for a new gym. To our disappointment, the pool heater has been malfunctioning for almost the whole year. She won't be joining my gym and now I'm going to be looking for another gym if they don't get this fixed for the winter.

InShape Napa was a major disappointment, especially the pool. The water was shockingly cold, making it uncomfortable to swim, which was one of the main reasons I chose this gym. When I asked about it, other swimmers told me that this has been an ongoing issue that never gets fixed. For a facility that promotes a premium experience, the pool feels neglected and unenjoyable. Really expected better.

This review is for In-Shape Napa. Before you join this club you should be aware of three things. Even though the club is listed as having a heated pool, the heater is broken at least once a month, usually for an entire week. This has been a consistent problem since I joined 10 years ago.It would seem that they could figure out a fix that would last longer. Unless this is a cost cutting measure. Second, even though Napa is one of the most expensive clubs to join, they do not have many of the amenities(pickleball, racquetball, tennis, social events) that the other clubs do. When In-Shape posts all the improvements they are making, they never list the Napa club. Thirdly, If you are a member of Kaiser and have Silver and Fit, the Napa In -Shape is not covered unlike the In-Shapes in Fairfield, Suisun, Vallejo, Vacaville (Brown's Valley Rd, Elmira Rd). So basically, you will be paying more money for not getting as much.

10/30/24 Update-heater still broker. This is the sign that has been posted for more than a week. It would seem that In-Shape needs to consider refunding dues for all the weeks that the pools are not able to be used!

I went in on a Sunday, 9/8. The front desk man was busy having a personal conversation with two other men. I asked if he had a bike pump for my flat tire, seeing how it is a gym and right next to a bike path. He immediately dismissed me and answered in 1.5 seconds and said no and then proceeded to go back to his bros laughing. So rude and unhelpful and most importantly not kind. Didn't even try to see if the gym actually had one, because honestly how could he really already know.

InShape has a nice gym. However, the back office sucks! The app doesn't wort for payment, so you have to login to their website. They don't provide a billing statement, so you don't know what you're being charged for. They don't reply to Service Tickets (ever). The personal trainer business is separate from In-Shape so if you use them, no one knows how to stop the auto billing, even after your contract expires. They do not even answer their phone, have a method for leaving a voice message, and no one takes any responsibility for any of it.

My dues increased this year and the reason for the increase I was told, was the construction of the new pool and hot tub. However, the pool heater has broken again (it has broken MANY times - too many to count) and the hot tub is malfunctioning AGAIN as well. Do I get a credit for every time I come to AquaFit and the water’s freezing and the hot tub is closed? And don’t even get me started on the bathroom stalls that have been Out of Order for over 3 months. There are a lot of unhappy members who use these facilities and are thinking of switching gyms because they are tired of dealing with this. Please take care of these issues InShape!

Very disappointing. I’ve spoken with management for months about how the steam room isn’t working properly, nor heat in the sauna. I was blown off multiple times, saying they’d look into it. I rate In-Shape a 1 because there cameras do not work and there is no security or safety there. My car got broke into and that means that area is not safe due to on going traffic, homeless shelter, and other possible danger that we are unaware of but due to knowing some of the obviously I stand for the safety of the clients and there property. This is a good gym for most people. Certainly not a powerlifters gym or an anti gym like planet fitness. The staff are very friendly, they actually are helpful and have personalities unlike the local PF that they don't even look up from their phone when you come in. I do want to provide some constructive criticism though.

1st. Fix the fly machine by removing the bolt that makes it nearly useless in going for full ROM.

2nd. Have more extra equipment like parallel bars, rings, weight vests, fat grips, standing calf raises machine, hip thrust machine, another adjustable bench, possibly another cable tower, a dip machine.

3. The towels don't absorb water well. I try to dry off and I'm still wet. I would pay to be a premium member (right now I'm the middle one) if they offered towels that absorbed water for the premium members. I understand they take longer to dry and that's why you offer it to premium.

4. The area upstairs in the middle is pretty useless as it's a bunch of machines that are designed for circuit training but all of the exercises can be accomplished in a way where you can actually track your progress on the other equipment and I would just add more real equipment up there. Potentially some of the wall mounted smart units that track your progress for you with an id number or a powerlifting/calisthenics area.

5. Given the popularity a cold soak tub outside would be awesome. 33-40 degrees.

6. A coed sauna outside would be nice to engage an interact with other people.

7. Having plants inside would be very nice and is healthy for body and mind.

I understand this is a long list and some may not be feasible or within budget but just thought I would float it anyway. Thanks for reading.

This is my favorite Bay Area In-Shape location. It is truly a luxury gym experience. Staff always greets you with a smile and friendly service. Love the open spaced out feel. Variety of classes, cardio, ab and workout options. Kids club friendly. Love the massage chair, VTL boxing class, chair yoga class, battle ropes, outdoor/indoor pool, jacuzzi, reward points, and online app for making reservations. They have a $2 no-show fee, so remember to cancel if you can't show for a reservation.

I signed up for this club March of 2023 after not being a member of a gym for 4 years. I used to attend this In-Shape regularly and was excited to get my fitness journey back on track at my local gym. I was disappointed when I showed up for the first time in years to see the gym looked completely different. Men’s locker room was not kept, the machines had seen better days, and the towel machine was broken. I then find out from a coworker that this is commonplace and happens regularly. It made more sense to me to either pay FAR less for similar facilities, or pay a little more to avoid this mishap. I regrettably canceled my membership after that visit. I’m likely biased, but the gym was entirely better when I used to attend. Leaving 3 stars because this gym still offers amenities that others don’t, but if the spa/sauna/pool look anything like the rest of the gym, I wouldn’t touch those facilities. More expensive, less pride in ownership nowadays

I have debated joining a less expensive club. At my age I only use the circuit training, the swimming, pool, and the massage chair. But the manager Roosevelt is such a pleasure to work with and the new massage chairs are fantastic. I’m getting used to the new system And I enjoy every minute that I am in the gym! By far the best gym I've ever been to and the first one have gone to that actually feels welcoming. The kid zone is perfect for my three and six year old and they even beg me to take them to the gym. I was nervous to do any of the classes but took Bodypump with Lindy. She was amazing. She helped me the whole time and encouraged me afterwards. That made me get into classes and now I'm doing 5-8 classes a week. I have the encouragement from the staff, trainers and other members in the classes that I desperately needed. It's a great environment for those with gym anxiety, like me. Highly recommend you to try it out, they really do have something for everyone from cardio to yoga and heated pools to saunas, multiple classes including bodypump, yoga flow, barre, aqua fit, VTL:Box, and so much more.

Most of my reviews reflect the colorful oddities of our region and culture. And I must confess I am most compelled to write a review when I feel slighted, or poorly served. But for Napa's In Shape I can offer only accolades. This clubs preformance during the pandemic struck me as accomodating and responsible. I never felt in peril of exposure.
In general, this club is equiped with myriad ways to exercise. It is clean, the young people at the desk are polite, curently it is not crowded, and though I have never tested it, I think management would be responsive and helpful as far is resonable. Napa's In Shape Rocks--it is as good as you will make it.

Masks are required but not enforced. Management will not enforce....even though the entrance sign says masks required, people check in maskless and no one says a word.

For the second time this week, the music system was caught in an endless loop loudly playing two songs over and over and over and over and over, just like last week. I complained to the front desk and they said they knew something was wrong but didn't know what to do. I suggested they turn the music off and a very rude young man said they couldn't turn it off. I left.

Management here has been abysmally poor at handling customer complaints. If you complain to the company you get a canned response saying how sorry they are etc and ask for your contact info so they can get more information, and when you supply it, you never hear from them. Lame. I need to find a better gym.

Members are staying way to long, my understanding is 2 hours max! Members are on 2 or more machines at a time. Gal yesterday was using 3 sets of weights at one time. If you ask to share or work in- you get attitude

This place is a joke. Due to covid the gym was closed for several months then it reopened with restrictions but I decided not to keep going because most of the regular equipment I used was not allowed. I was charged $85 dollars monthly even though I was not going. I know that is what happens when you have a membership but first of all we are in a pandemic and the gym was closed for a while!! When I called corporate they said I had to put my membership on hold so no charges would happen... but I was NEVER told that in the first place. They said they could not give me my money back. I asked if I could credit at least 2 months once the gym opened back up with no restrictions. I was denied that request. They literally kept charging my account. I am no longer a member at in shape. They just take your money and don't care!!!

As a few other dissatisfied customers have written, this gym nickel and dimes you. I was a member of the club when the Coronavirus came. In concern for my health, I decided to wait before I return to the club. I made many different forms of attempts in notifying them of my decision from several written, phone calls, and in-person visits before I was able to speak to someone. By then, I have been charged 4 membership fees and 1 never before mentioned fee. Despite my proof of attempts to hold my account, the gym showed very little to no interest in returning the fees charged. The whole process was more painful than necessary. I never got my refund and needless to say, I am no longer a member.

I cannot remember the last time I wrote a 1 star review, but I believed that I had to take the time to do so for this gym for the sake of current and considering members. Before you decide to spend your hard-earned money, beware.

They charge $20 for a guest pass when you’re with a member. Decided not to go it’s not worth the value! They should allow members guest passes once a month at least for the price of membership

This place is busy all the time and its easy to see why, they have a huge selection of equipment to work out on, they keep it pretty clean considering how many people are coming through every day, and they manage to keep on top of the towel service as well. Matthew my PT is an awesome, knowledgable trainer, I have learned SO much from him and he is always in good spirits. The staff is super friendly too. There is a fair amount of friendly people that go to this gym, I've had quite a few good, random conversations. This gym really is a great place to work out and get your spa time on afterwards!

The cleanliness of this club is reprehensible. The only reason I continue to be a member are the hours, proximity to my home, and (most importantly) my girlfriend refuses to go to Health Quest. There were literally worms in the mens showers. WORMS. The worst gym in Napa by a mile.

The facility is nice and there is plenty of room to work out. The gym policies however are designed to nickle and dime you. It is difficult to tell if this is In-Shape policy in general, or merely a draconian application by local management, but the customer service at this gym is supremely poor, particularly that of the local manager.

I am a member of In-Shape since 2015... one of the new associate name JUAN (he dont give me his last name) because he scared to report him to the personell... when i call Inshape Napa and looking my husband because i need my heart medicine and he is going to get my medicine at walmart ... i only asked if my husband is there and he said he will not give information even though i am his wife... this is an emergency situation and i dress up going to walmart pharmacy to get my medicine... and we lived in Fairfied how awkward the new associate they dont give recosinderation... only asked if my husband is sign today ... poor new hired associate dont know customer services ...because old associate some of them are know me... 😩im SAD because i will drive from fairfied to Napa to get my heart medicine

2 weeks ago I came into this location to help my mom activate her $ilver and Fit membership benifit, which is provided through her healthcare. She was given this specific location's address. When we arrived I explained what we were there to do to the gentleman at the front desk and he had her check-in . 10-15 min later a stand-offish man named Julien came put to let us know that the "Diamond" level did not accept Silver and Fit and condescendingly suggested that we go to Planet Fitness because they were cheap. He assumed that she needed a cheap membership. He didn't bother introducing himself and had his hands crossed or in his pockets the entire time. I only knew his name because he was wearing a name tag. Then a week later the same man called my mom, presumably bease she had checked in, and invited her back in telling her he could help her with a membership. My mom is disabled senior, and assumed that he was going to help her get a Silver and Fit membership, so she went all the way back only to be told that she couldn't be help because this jerk didn't bother to put any notes for this lead. COMPLETELY INSENSITIVE AND OBVIOUSLY ONLY INTERESTED IN A SALE!!!! The sales staff seriously needs training on how to be human!

Great place to work out and the staff if very acommodating and friendly. With so many people using this facility I can imagine how difficult it is to keep all the towels picked up and clinically clean. This is the only complaint I have and not rating it 5 stars.

So this was a very different place a year ago. There was different management and I'm not sure if that's what did it. Last time I was here the cable machines were broken, stair master machine was broken and I slipped off the thing. No towels. The locker room was filthy and I am not joking about this one: there were no men's showers. No mens showers. And I had clients schedule for after the workout. And to add insult to injury there's a little sign on the closed showers that says: "sorry for the inconvenience." 🙄 I guess that's why the hot tub--I mean the tepid tub-- was so gross; people decided to use it to clean themselves. Even the little machine that dries the bathing suits was broken. I suppose I could overlook all of this except for one thing; theres only one reason I go to this In Shape now ---because it has become a real pit and the Vacaville one is huge and beautiful. I still go to this one for Lindsey's Yoga class. Now, Mark does a great Yoga class and so does Tony but I always feel fantastic after Lindsey's and so whenever I can swing it I specifically to to this gym for her class. But she's so popular that you have to get there an hour early or it's full. And yet they won't give here other classes later in the day. I🙄🙄 This place has really gotten to be unpleasant and I'm not sure exactly why it is we are paying so much for the membership if you can't make the class you want and or you're surprised by not being able to shower after your workout.

I've been going here since shortly after they opened. The staff is friendly and polite, and the facility and equipment are in good condition. My two complaints are 1) towels can be very hard to find; they have many shelves for them, but often all the shelves (even in the locker room) are empty. 2) they need to rebalance some of the equipment, as the squat racks are nearly always busy and I have to wait 10-15 minutes to use them, while other nearby equipment never gets used.

Nice place, could be better. The towel shelves always seem empty, the wipe containers as well. Some machines down for extended periods of time. Crowded parking. Sauna sometimes not working. Otherwise the classes are good and most of the equipment is too.

I work in Napa and was looking for a fitness club to work out in after work. Came in with the free week pass to give them a try and was turned away because I don't live in Napa. And said I couldn't use any facility in a city I did not live in. Really? Wow. Obvious lie is obvious. A very horrible first impression. They won't get my business.

Update: If you click on an ad or get an email that offers you a 7 day pass to try out any In Shape facility, be warned that the unspoken rule is **you have to live in that city.** I dont know why that isn't mentioned in any of the marketing material or in the form you fill out to get the pass, but be warned so you aren't turned away dissapointed like I was.

This Gym has gone down hill.
When i first became a member, it seemed pretty sweet, and that was expected since i was paying a pretty penny to be a member.
But now it seems staff morale is down or somthing. I mean i go during none busy hours and they can't even manage to keep towels stocked in the locker room, whatever though i brushed that off like i brushed off the constantly broken equipment, and fowl tasting water from the fountains. I now want to say i dont reviw stuff very often, but here i am. What upset me to this point is that myself and about 15 other people who showed up for a yoga class were left instructorless. That doesn't make me too upset since i get life does get in the way sometimes, but what bothers me is the staff didn't even care to give the class any notice or information on the matter even after some people had asked what was going on.
That being said the gym does have alot of neat stuff to provide in the realm of fitness, but for the love of god get togther inshape.

Great place and staff, but they need to clean the floors and the lower half of their excersie equipment, stairs going to and from the upper level had major dust bunnies. Staff was notified, but no changes have been made

This time of the year the gym is usually very full, in the afternoon they don't have any small towels available, no towels in the designed spaces so I need to go to ask for a towel to the front desk almost every time, the swimming pool is kind of dirty, no tea or coffee at late hours available. Some machines have been broken for more than a week and they haven't been repaired yet.
