I have been coming to this particular location for a year or two and I have counted the same faulty machines everything time I go.
The treadmills either have squeaky belts or full on don’t function. The display panel doesn’t display clearly. Im talking about multiple machines on the 2nd floor.

Where is all the money in fees that you charge your members.

These machines are not being tended to. Fix them, thats what we pay the membership fee for.

I love teaching Yoga 🧘‍♀️ and working out here! The club is really clean and the management (Jeffrey and Tim) are very kind and helpful. They always want to assist and even when they don’t know the answer to something they go out of their way to find it. Very approachable and they want to hear members’ feedback to improve overall guest experience. Highly recommend this club and the wonderful classes offered here…

Before joining In-Shape, I was really nervous about going to public gyms and wasn’t sure how I’d ever feel comfortable working out in that kind of environment. But since becoming a member, I’ve gained a new sense of confidence that I’ve never had before. The staff is always friendly, supportive, and genuinely helpful. I’m not sure why the gym closes so early on Friday and Saturday nights. Many people work until at least 5pm on Fridays, which hardly leaves enough time to fit in an evening workout. It might make more sense to open an hour later and close an hour later. I’m sure there are more people using the gym at 8pm on a Friday than at 5am.

There was nobody at the front desk to help me so I had to wander around to find the locker room because I stood up the front desk for 5 minutes and no one showed up.
It is a really nice location. Very big. Lots of equipment in the outside area is very nice. It would be awesome if they put in a bathing suit swimmer though to dry those swimsuits after swimming.

Was in the area I wanted to go to a gym and this one was close to my hotel room looked nice signed up for the free day pass got to the front desk. Let them know that I have the free day pass. He wanted to charge me $24 when I told him it was a free day pass. He became disturbed like it was coming out of his pocketand being very assertive with this question so I decided to leave good customer service goes a long way, especially when you’re trying to find a new gym would not recommend in shape to anyone especially if they have front office clerks like this guy at the one in Rancho Cordova off off of Zinfandel Drive

Whoever worked the front desk tonight did a couple concerning things:
1) when I checked in, she was busy flirting with a guy at the front desk. Had I not said I had a buddy with me, I could’ve gotten away with just bringing in someone
2) after my workout, I locked myself out of my locker, I went up to her and asked for help. She quickly glanced up from her FaceTime call and said, “meet me in the bathroom” and proceeded to finish her conversation before coming to the bathroom
3) when she finally got to the locker room,she just asked me to point to my locker and she opened it and walked away. This was the most concerning. COULD ANYONE HAVE DONE THAT ANDJUST STOLE MY STUFF?

I truly just think she might need more training but needless to say, if I come here again, I don’t think I’ll use the lockers at all. I hope the management can see this and provide some safety training for the staff….

I liked the variety of catdio equipments and whole body workout machines. I love the core bench crunch with solid feet support enables to do side stomach crunches and leg lifts and butt ups! This gym is clean and well landscaped views on upper level. The sauna is not too hot but you can do core exercises, boxing and yoga easily if you want an increase in your workout!

I typically don’t leave reviews for places but this has happened more often than not. Unfortunately at this gym location the daycare employees don’t show up for their job. This creates an unpredictable childcare scenario for parents who have children. Even after calling the front desk before I show up to the gym and asking specifically for the age range they accept that day I still show up to the gym to be turned away by the daycare employees because someone decided last minute not to come or to leave early. I understand people get sick but this has happened the last 5 times I’ve come. This does not happen at any of their other locations. So if you are looking for reliable childcare times and employees, do not go to this location.

I do not recommend this gym. Everything was fine up until the general manager harassed my wife with a racist approach. He thought my wife spoke Spanish, didn’t treat her with respect in communicating with her, communicated her with disrespect and racially profiled out son. The young front desk man who closes is extremely rude, there was me and 2 other men in the lockeroom 30 mins before closing. all dressing to leave when he was cleaning the lockerooms. He must have been mad that there was still people because he slammed any open locker doors shut so loudly ,very childish to show your temper in that way. it's one thing to point blank ignore hellos given to you and only scan guest in. But to be always annoyed at people staying close till closing time when your hours of business are very limited for the amount we pay for this gym, when I could go to other gyms with better hours with half the price.

The amenities I have everything I need from the pool in the summer and the tanning beds. The equipment as well. I never have a problem finding a machine I need. The place is always clean and fresh which is important because you don’t want to workout in a musty smelly gym lol. Only thing I’d suggest is that it would be awesome if the gym offered a towel service it would be top tier! My old gym let us borrow hand towels and I’d use it to dry myself, put over seats/equipment and anything else it was so useful. I just bring my own but it would be awesome if it was provided. Lastly the water temperature from the water bottle dispenser is just at a Luke temperature. Not sure if it can be adjusted but I rather have fresh cold water to keep me refreshed during my workouts. Besides that I love everything about the gym GREAT JOB GUYS 🙂

In general my family likes this club but they need to install more sun loungers and umbrellas by the pool because in the summer it is impossible to be there unless you are in the water due to the scorching sun. Also they use too much chlorine in the jacuzzi tub. In hot water, your pores open and you absorb large amounts of bleach, which is very harmful to your health. It’s even difficult to breathe there because the chlorine fumes in the air are too significant. My family never uses the jacuzzi tub here in Rancho Cordova Club

Your children are NOT safe at in shape “family” fitness.
I left my child last Thursday at 6:10PM in the kids zone at Sunrise location to do Pilates with Suzanne.
When I returned at 7:12PM to get her I was baffled to see my daughter’s face gashed and bleeding. The worker was obviously very nervous and all she could tell me was “I’m sorry I don’t know what happened to her, I didn’t see anything happen and she didn’t cry but I think the little boy she was playing next to might have scratched her”
I then took my baby to the locker room and cleaned her wounds up myself, because apparently they don’t do first aid here.
After I cleaned her up and went to the front desk to ask for a manager one of the young girls at the front said “well I’m like a manager so I can help you”
And then saw my daughter’s face and gasped and asked what happened and I told her that’s what I’d like to know, when I picked her up from your kid zone she was bleeding and they don’t know what happened.
She told me one of kids there that night had autism and that he didn’t have a care giver with him like he’s supposed to, but they couldn’t turn him away. She then said they have cameras and will have the manager watch the cameras and that I could leave a note for the manager Jeremey and he’d call me in the morning.
I took my daughter to urgent care right after to have examined for any other signs of foul play, they stated they do not believe the marks are from a child and they found more fresh marks on both of her legs.
I waited for a call, and never received one so I called them at 9am Friday morning. The young man on the phone stated Jeremy was doing a tour and would return my call as soon as he was finished. I waited an hour, no return call so I tried again and they picked up and hung up on me 3x.
I called again at 11am and they put on hold for over 5 minutes before I decided to just visit the gym to speak to Jeremy instead.
When I arrived the girl who was “like a manager” was at the front desk, and when I asked for Jeremy she asked why. When I told her I want to view the videos and see what happened to my child she tried to tell me she thinks she knows what happened, and didn’t want to get the manager. I had to ask again and she very annoyedly told me I could wait for him but he’s busy, so I waited.
He was magically no longer busy and came to talk to me and tried to say kids have accidents and it’s totally normal, but I quickly cut him off and explained that accidents should have follow up care and they should have some sort of idea of what happened to my child.
Once he realized how poorly his staff preformed with my daughter in their care he apologized. He did make it seem like a burden to him that he’d have to “make a special call on Saturday” because he’s not usually in, and kept mentioning how he was just trying to have his lunch when I showed up. I don’t feel he really genuinely cared about the safety of my daughter and didn’t seem concerned of her marks at all. He even tried to make me feel better by telling me even his own kids have been bitten at the Folsom locations kids club several times. After his strange attempt to make me feel better about the incident, he promised he would look into the videos and speak to the workers and I would hear from him no later than Tuesday morning.
It is now 1:30PM, after waiting all morning and afternoon for him to call and not hearing a thing, I called the gym.
The same “like a manager” girl answered the phone, wouldn’t let me speak to Jeremy and said he’d call me back without taking my information.
I will be calling corporate now and canceling my membership with this gym.
EDITING TO ADD:
Jermey called me at 6PM on Tuesday June 4th. He told me his employee that told me she had no clue what happened, told me in detail what did happen and said he believes his employees followed all proper procedures. He is calling me a liar, and trying to cover something up and protect himself and his employees. I see my daughters safety is of no concern to them at all

Update: I forgot to update this review. They do have the sauna working much better now! (Has been for a while). We really like the kids club, and most areas are kept clean enough. Wish the weekend hours opened earlier, but my biggest bummer is the Sauna. Up until about 6 months ago, it would stay at 185/190 or so, like their Orangevale, Carmicheal, etc locations do. But then it went down to 150 something and I’m not sure they have attempted to fix it since. They got a new temp gauge on the wall, but it doesn’t seem to have gotten warmer as indicated when I bring my own thermometer in. Although since they moved the temp Guauge directly above heater now, it now states it is about 170. But would LOVE if they took sauna stuff seriously since that is main thing I use, and got it up to the heat standard that the other Cal Fit gyms do. The gym has seemed to have gotten dirtier over the time I’ve been a member, which is a bummer. It isn’t gross, yet, but hoping they can make an extra effort to clean in locker rooms, etc. With all this said, and REALLY hope they can tweak a few things, but the staff is usually friendly and kind, and most of all equipment works and is maintained well enough. Just hoping for a hotter sauna again

Jeremy was attentive and friendly in his introduction to the gym. The gym staff have all been upbeat and polite, never felt like I was waiting or a burden to them. Serena is knowledgeable has been a great help getting back into a gym setting, as my knees aren't what they used to be and I wanted to learn strategies to strengthen them without hurting myself, and the childcare team so far has been awesome. keep up the good work!

Don’t join this gym! Worst customer service I have ever encountered. A new young man said he couldn’t help me with membership when the manager was there just not available. I tried to explain the importance of my call and was hung up on. I went in to speak to the manager and was left waiting in the the waiting room for an hour without being seen. I have tried to cancel my membership with this gym since January. January was supposed to be my last month but I am charged for February and now this morning another monthly charge for March. I have not been able to get a hold of management to cancel my membership’s at this club. It’s ridiculous because this gym owes me 2 months worth of membership and it’s still is unresolved. No one has contacted me back or took care of this issue. It’s pure robbery. Don’t join this gym.

Been going to California family fitness for about eight years now and still loving going to the pool and just very grateful that I have access to go there and get some mobility aqua training exercises done 5 days a week, since I have limitations physically. Big changeover in the last month or two since I’ve been back there after a 3 month break, but seems like the new staff are doing well and my son who is 16, still enjoy swimming everyday in lane pool, taking a steam and relaxing in the hot tub. Our whole family stopped in to inquire about membership.
The employees literally bashed the new merger and stated the new rates were expensive.
They were unenthusiastic about giving us any information.
We asked to speak to a manager and a team lead came out.
She informed us it would be $150 for our family to join.

They have no clue about the average family not being prepared to drop $150 a month for a gym membership.
Whomever is incharge of the rates or merger is a greedy jerk.

I went to Elk Grove Cal Fit for the first time and I was shocked at how packed it was at 3pm on a Tuesday. The equipment seemed to just be all over the place but luckily for me that’s not the closest one to my house. The Sunrise/50 location is just minutes from my house and I absolutely love it! I love the layout and how there’s equipment on the main level and the second level. Yes, the bathrooms and the facility doesn’t seem as new but I’m happy that I don’t have to wait turns using the equipment.

Good leadership, hard working attentive staff, Personable too. Machines, quick repairs as needed. Knowledgeable trainers, plenty of aerobic equipment and a large available Rec pool. Those who work out there are quite friendly.

I really enjoy this gym. They have lots of things that are needed for a great workout and the staff is very friendly! The child care is great and they always do really fun crafts with my young daughter!

My two complaints are the child care hours and the sauna and steam room temperature. The child care opens at 8:30 which is 30 minutes after the classes I’d like to go to. The sauna used to be much hotter ( around 180 degrees) but isn’t anymore. I’d like to do much more heat therapy but I can’t with the low temperatures of the sauna. I know many of the members drive to different locations to get a hotter sauna time which is a bummer.

I have been going here for over 7 years. They DO NOT clean the cardio equipment. Not ever. Not even when they were closed for covid. It's disgusting. Members pay hundreds of dollars each year, and month after month, we are greeted with disgusting equipment. Take a look if you visit. Look down. It's gross. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. Try Anytime Fitness or Planet Fitness.

Suuuper sketchy parking lot, the lighting is insufficient. Saw someone get robbed in a corner and heard there was a shootout at the Denny's nearby. Ladies carry pepper spray please. Please please add more lighting!!!

The gym is awesome, but it would help guests tremendously if the 2 older squat racks were replaced with squat cages. Also, an additional deadlift platform and an additional free weight leg press would be nice considering the large number of guests using them during peak times.

Dirty place, water fountain needs to be completely replaced, mens restroom is filthy, urinals full of old dried yellow urine, concrete outside saunas are full of dirt and residue, dont go bare foot cuz all the slime will be on your feet, definitely first and last time that im visiting this place, how can it be 4.5 stars? I'm stunned. Whoever gave 5 stars to this place have not seen appropriate gym before
