Unprofessional. Very rude to members. Kids club seems like a joke, hours arent great, seem disinterested in the kids, they lay on the floor while kids run around, not very nice to most parents, speak badly of them after they leave, donβt see them checking which kids are leaving or with who. Seems unsafe. Most seem pretty unhappy being there.

Appreciation for Outstanding Help from Makayla and Juae
I recently experienced a severe back strain while at this location and was in so much pain that I could barely walk. I managed to make my way toward the bathroom to collect my belongings, but the pain in my lower back intensified to the point where I couldnβt move any further. I called my wife to let her know what was happening, and she immediately contacted the front desk.
Makayla answered and quickly arranged for someone to assist me. Shortly after, Juae arrived and kindly asked how he could help. His genuine concern and professionalism were evident from the start. With his support, I was able to stand up, and he helped me walk safely to my car. He even carried my bag and made sure I was comfortable enough to drive home.
Makayla also did an excellent job coordinating help promptly and keeping my wife informed that I was on my way home.
I sincerely want to thank both Makayla and Juae for their compassion, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond when I needed assistance the most. Their teamwork and care truly made a difficult situation much easier to handle.

I visited this location on Sunday, September 28 around 11:45 AM after receiving a form from my son's school regarding gym memberships. Since the school staff weren't sure if the local gym would process it, they recommended I visit the gym directly to see if they recognized the form.
When I arrived, I was met with no greeting, no smile, and zero warmth from the young man (pictured below in the review) at the front desk. I asked to speak with a sales representative to help identify the form, but was told that sales reps aren't available on weekends, only Monday to Friday. I asked if I needed an appointment, and he said no.
At that point, despite initially brushing me off, he suddenly asked to see the form. I told him I'd rather wait to speak with a sales rep. Then contradictory to what he just told me, he claimed they don't have sales reps, just "desk people" such as himself, who handle sales tasks. I showed him the form, asked if it looked familiar, and he said no. I said I'd return to follow up with someone else. That's when things took a turn. He insisted I explain the form to him and started questioning me about its contents. I explained that if the form isn't recognized, then it likely isn't processed at that location.
I then inquired about adding my adult son to my membership. He asked if my son was an adult, I replied yes. And then oddly he followed up with "Is he 18?" I replied yes. He mumbled something under his breath, then stated the fee would be $30. I mentioned that I have a concession through my employer, so I believed the pricing would differ. At no point did he ask for my name or membership number to verify my account or provide accurate pricing. When I expressed dissatisfaction with the service, he responded, "I match energy. I reciprocate energy. I match disrespect with disrespect." I was shocked, as I had only asked about a form and pricing. He later admitted I hadn't said anything wrong but claimed my tone was the issue. I explained tone is subjective and likely reflected his personal bias. When I asked for a manager, he told me the name "Rex," but refused to provide a contact number or business card. He then loudly stated that he works six days a week (If that's true, perhaps he's just burned out, but that's not an excuse for unprofessional behavior) and he stated "they love me" (who is they and does he believe that excludes him from accountability).
Frustrated, I left and called the Carmichael location, where I spoke to Brianna. She was polite, helpful, and took the time to explain the membership process. She gave me the real manager's name, "Jyred," and walked me through how to view pricing and add members via the app. That's what real customer service looks like.
To the Watt Avenue location: This is a customer service position. It requires professionalism, emotional intelligence, and the ability to separate personal bias from respectful customer inquiries. The customer service given to your members shouldn't depend on personal interpretations of others tone measured against one's ego. Is this your model? This experience also makes me question the hiring and training practices at this location. If by some unfortunate chance he does encounter a difficult customer is this the company's standard and training policy in the handling of such matters in because his way would escalate matters rather than de-escalate.
Unfortunately, based on the interaction, I can't help but wonder if there were underlying biases, potentially related to race or gender, influencing his reaction. In today's climate, it's not something to ignore.
I hope this review leads to more training, accountability, and professionalism. Other locations and employees such as Brianna are clearly doing much better.

This gym is a very good and clean gym. Has a very good, friendly, respectful and very responsive staff, especially if there are any issues going on in the gym.
Has the occasional breakdown of equipment or amenities, but that is normal for a gym. The pool area could use a lot more attention as the pool has a lot of dirt debris in it. I asked the staff about this and was told that they've been having issues with the automatic pool sweeper getting stolen when they leave running it at night. From what I understand.
Personally, I think a little more attention to detail is needed on InShape Family Fitness Corporate's part, to make this gym, and all the other gyms in our Sacramento region a better places to work out by making sure all amenities and equipment are in good working order.

If I could give it negative stars, I would. They have teenagers working the front that can't answer any questions about classes, memberships, etc. My first day, no one offered to show me around. The kids club hours are terrible, you can basically only workout with your kid in the morning. Their equipment is worse than a YMCA. It's always busy for some reason so I could never get the machines I wanted and they have like 10 kettle bells total so you can't even use free weights if the machines are taken because there's not enough kettle bells for people to use. Then I realized after the fact that they snuck in a year contract and never mentioned it and of course the teenagers at the front couldn't help me and they have no customer service number and wouldn't answer my emails. I will never join one of these clubs again.

I come here all the time. I put 2 stars because the cleanliness of this particular location has suffered drastically. The restrooms, sauna, and steam bath are my biggest complaints. Things are not being maintained and kept up properly. Could be a sign of the times, recession/economy going downhill, and corporate spending as least as possible. You can see the wear and tear. There is mold/soap scum in the πΏ showers. Could be better In- Shape. A business needs to come in and power wash some of these areas once a month. Thank you.

I have been a member for years and recently returned to this gym. I must say the people working the counter now are friendlier than in that past. Very welcoming and pleasant. It really helps set the tone for the visit when the front counter is as welcoming and attentive as they are. I usually visit before noon so can't say how the evening crew is, will check it out soon.

Each location that I have visited is educational. For this particular location, I liked it because everybody was welcoming and it was extremely busy so it was helpful to just kind of see what the atmosphere was like and also they have various amenities like the smoothies and other displays of things that you could check out.
I also like that they had a lot of different machines in on location. Iβve never had trouble ever trying to get onto the stairmaster machine, which is the one that I use pretty regularly. Iβm grateful that all the In-Shape gyms that Iβve attended so far, have presented a welcoming atmosphere and reception.

I went in to get info, and see about signing up. The first thing I was told was not even welcome, it was "scan this to sign your waiver to be here." I had to sign a waiver to even stand in the gym. They didn't tell me anything other than sign a waver. I left.
Wavers are fine, but if that's the first thing you say with no other info, or even a greeting, that means you care more about profit and legal than helping people.

In Shape is the best gym I've gone to. Extremely reasonably priced for memberships, the higher tiers truly are only extras and aren't locking off much for the average gym goer. The machines are well kept, there is plenty of space so you never feel claustrophobic and the staff are all very helpful. Fantastic gym for people of all levels.

The kids had a blast in kids club while I got in a great workout. I'm feeling stronger and more energetic. I love the hot tub or hydromassage chair after a good workout to relax. The trainer I spoke with was very informative. All the staff I encountered were friendly. And the ladies dressing room was nice, clean and comfortable.

Had a members loved the gym but had to cancel after 11 months due to personal reasons they billed me $300 early termination took us 14 months to be able to cancel it.
Update! 2/10/2024
My husband signed up for mont to month contract again due the past bad experience. However, my monthly bill was $62 and we are getting charged $76 not understanding for single membership why is that happening. Felt being scammed and requested to cancel the membership unfortunately, they said you have to stay with us for 12 months we told them we didnβt signed up for and never wish to go back to struggle, as took 14 months to cancel the first one.
Donβt trust the front desk, the manager wont show up either. Be careful of your time you may wanted to move out but have to $300 before leaving. Going to cancel it for the first and last time coming back.

Dangerous level of chlorine in the hot tub!!!! Recently my daughter and I were at the Watt fitness club, after swimming in the hot tub my swimsuit just changed color! The smell of chlorine was strong and stung my eyes.

Had to take a few months off of the gym due to a medical issue and there was a noticeable difference in the club since returning. It looked like someone puked down the front of a spin bike and it wasnβt cleaned up after multiple visits. Dust bunnies everywhere. They removed cleaning wipes and didnβt replace them everywhere. The gym was noticeably dirty. When I see someoneβs greasy head print on equipment when they first open there is no excuse.

Cancer causing chemicals used in the facility!!! The spray bottles for cleaning the equipment are highly toxic, I got really sick and my doc after lots of testing found this chemicals in my body (lung, digestion and blood) please be aware! When i informed the GM and the corporate they absolutely did not care , they don't care it's making people sick it's all about money... they should be concerned about things like this and become an environmentally clean facility because as of right now it's a chemical lab! I canceled my membership.

Normally 5 stars really love this gym. I have been going to this location since 2020. But I just now recently left the gym at 10 pm and this has been by far the worst experience ever. I normally come around 8:30-9 since my workout tends to be less than 1 hour long so I am out of the gym by 10 or even before . I didn't know that now they turn off the lights at 9:55pm with the last announcement at around 9:45pm that the gym was closing. It was very hard for me since I have bad vision in the dark . I made it to the locker room around 9:58pm and then it went pitch black even the female employee that was mopping couldn't see. I understand that employees have places to be and people to see but leaving members in the dark especially pitch black is crazy. I left the gym doors at exactly at 10pm. I understand turning the lights off at 10 pm but doing so before then especially with no real announcements that the gym is closed is crazy and very dangerous for myself especially I have bad vision. I could've tripped over the equipment and caused myself very bad injuries. I will go in tomorrow to ask if now they normally turn off the lights before closing.

Since they changed names, I've been having a hard time here. As we are working out, breathing hard, during the hours of 9:00-4:00 they have an obsession with spraying a new cleaning agent in the air right next to where we're working out impending my respiratory system like crazy. So, I finally found a gym that works for me - " In shape β It's not fancy, but it has everything I need. Plus, the best part? They have a killer kids' room!
Listen, I love my little monster, but sometimes a girl just needs an hour to sweat without tiny humans demanding juice boxes. The awesome staff at "In shape" totally gets it. Their kid's room is epic, with a ton of toys and activities to keep the little ones entertained. Win-win!
Now, about the gym itself. The equipment's all in good shape, none of that broken stuff you see at some places. They have a decent selection of cardio machines and free weights, which is all I need. Plus, the pool is clean and big enough for actual laps, not just splashing around.
It's not a five-star spa, but it's clean, well-maintained, and the price is right. The people who go there are pretty chill too, no meatheads grunting or taking up all the machines.
If you're looking for a no-frills gym with a fantastic kids' room in Sacramento, check out "In shape" It's become my happy place (at least until the next juice box crisis hits)

Workout floor is cool but as for the relaxation area "specifically especially" !!!!! the steam room is a lot of the reason for my membership I like to rejuvenate and renew myself while doing a routine in the pool and steam room area but it is ABSOLUTELY disgusting, it stinks ,and there's mildew, just dirty and it's like this always, its disappointing not being able to use it and also the chlorine in the jacuzzi is super strong hope this changes I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way maybe if there's enough people to say something they'll fix it

Went in for tour. Most of facility is nice, clean and didn't appear too crowded.
Had an offer for discount through work and was excited. Then they start telling me about the "extra charges" to use this equipment or that equipment, despite being the priciest gym in town already. Be prepared for upsells and hidden charges (like using a cc instead of a bank withdrawal costs like $6 a month).
UPDATE: With the switch to In Shape, the gym is more crowded, and there are a lot of squatters (30+ minutes on one piece of equipment, mostly on their phone, not working out). Classes are over crowded, so arrive 15-20 minute early to claim your space. No new equipment and repairs seem to take longer. Tanning and/or steam room down a lot. So far the merger isn't a positive thing.

The Watt location is definitely many steps up from the Alhambra location (with its constantly broken treadmills). Parking here is super easy. It's very clean and the equipment is in good shape. It would be nice if they add 1-2 more squat racks in the open space so it is on par with Natomas. The turf is awesome and there is lots of room for a bunch of people. Good vibes. Worth the drive.

Gym is great. Great equipment and people.
I H A T E the cancelation process that overshadowed the whole expirencence.
A real shame.
Canceled membership with enough time to spare and was still charged.
Refund is only way to make it good.
Be very careful and cancle super early 30 days on advance.
Witch wasn't told to me on sign up.
The y or planet fitness is better fit for me from now on.

On Friday, July 21st, I received a phone call from a representative who informed me of a limited-time offer to sign up for just $1. However, I told him I was not available to talk at the time, so he promised to call me back on Saturday, July 22nd, at 10:30 am. Unfortunately, he did not follow through with this commitment. Feeling the need to clarify the situation, I reached out to the representative at approximately 5:15 pm. To my disappointment, he expressed that he had no knowledge regarding membership inquiries and was unable to provide any assistance. Furthermore, he demonstrated a lack of professionalism and courtesy. Having previously heard positive reviews about Cal fitness and being excited to join, I am now reconsidering due to concerns about their reliability and trustworthiness.

Went there and get info about plans and all and the two of employees who were working in front looked like they could care less and it looked as if I was asking a stranger for information. (Sunday July 16 20223 ). Secondly whatever ( touching and when I walked in it seemed as if I was interpreting them ) both (a girl and a boy) were doing behind the counter were really disgusting and I wonβt even let my kids be around a gym like that. Good thing I saw it before signing up.

Bad experience with the stuff make sure not to sign contract with this gym if you do they forcefully keep you in gym even if you tell I don't like this gym they tell you you have to stay you signed contract never listen to their stuff they never tell the truth they are worst then car dealerships don't sign contract at the end they charge you extra$300 for cancelation fee I wish I could give them 0 star the person who respond to this massage at the end he is fraud to the number he send to call never solve your problem make you wait for months avoid this gym.

Starting my membership here was best decision. The gym is clean, spacious, and so much equipment. Wish I checked it out sooner. I bring my mom who likes to work out and then chill in the steam room, and my toddler who has fun in the child care section and then I take her to the pool when Iβm
done working out. Itβs a fun family outing for us and feels good to keeping us all active and healthy. Locker rooms are always clean and plenty of space to put your items and get dressed. All of the staff have been kind and attentive. Thanks Calfit!

I really wish they would carry heavier dumbells. More leg machines and calfβs. We have told many staff members about the decline leg press machine, the safety handles are broken. For many weeks now. They have not put a do not use sign or cared to fix it

Feels great to actually be inside a gym since it was outdoor gym when Covid-19 hit, using more different exercise equipment an have a better work out is nice but mask not really required to wear unless you like to continue to wear them, of course it help working out while also practicing social distance. Pool, Sauna, hottube available too. Do wish those certain gym equipment that are broken at times get fix quicker so more can be used. Also add more of points when you go to the gym to invitr guests.

In regards to the environment, weights, classes etc. It is great. The gym is essentially clean which I appreciate. Some staff is great at the front desk as are trainers. However the issues I have are half the staff are somewhat rude. After a simple thank you, they donβt even respond. They are not trained well perhaps because the only one that seems to know anything is the general mgr. I saw a mess from the homeless in front and brought it to the front desk attention. They shrugged it off and said β I donβt know who to contactβ They also donβt enforce their rules Kids 6 and under, unsupervised on the gym floor and basketball court with the parent playing basketball. Kids will get hurt. The parent from time to time would go over and yell and use profanity forward their child in front of my son . The staff donβt care about this and donβt enforce their own rules. If it continues, they will lose business for sure. Thanks for reading

Cal Fit is better than the other gyms around town. Just the right price compared to the cheapo gyms, and the super expensive ones that rob you! Not quite 5 stars as they have a foothold in Nor Cal. So they should change name to Nor Cal Fit. Wish they were in the Bay or So cal.

One of the newer gyms, they have a lot of exercise areas to choose from. From the weight area, TRX equipment, rock climbing, classes pool, and cardio. They have a non-gender steam room, so you can sit with your friends and quietly chat while to cool down, but it can get crowded. This is the main CalFit in that area, so everyone shows up after work/school. The best chance of accessing everything (less crowded) is in the morning.
