Love the Gym in the convenience however this gym needs some major upgrades there's a lot of competition out there that really want our membership but we love the convenience of this one since its closer to our neighborhood. Something needs to be done about the 29 min circuit. Almost every time I use it there are people who do not rotate. They will use one machine (eg. seated row, leg curl, tricep pushdown) for 3 minutes. You are supposed to rotate after 45 seconds. This interrupts everyone else's workout, especially if you only have 29 mins. The ellipticals on the circuit are very unsteady and scary to use.

2 of the 4 treadmills in the pink room are broken and have been for some time.

Parking is a huge issue. Popular classes seem to be scheduled at the same time, filling the parking lot. People are parking in the planters or under no parking signs, in fire zones and up the road, by the stop sign.

People also do not vacate their swimming lane once their time is up. Leaving it to the next person to flag them down, catch their attention and let them know their reservation is over. I was told that I could reserve the entire lane (A & B) by using my account and another name on my account. Does't really seem fair to other members.

The locker room is always very wet and slippery. Toilet seats are soaking wet from pool users, so the next person gets their stuff all soaked.

Not sure what can be done about 29. It's almost like you will need to hire someone to stand there and monitor the adults who do not follow the rules. Unbelievable!

We do get points for checking in. But, the points are not redeemable for anything worth while. We don't use sweatbands (head or wrist), the gym offers towels (so those are not needed), they have water fountains (so no need for a water bottle). It would be really cool if after earning a certain number of points, you could get a discount on a month of dues or after even more, maybe a free month of dues. We have a lot of points accumulated and no need for them.

Enhancement fess are questionable, too. El Dorado paid $90 and barely got anything. All of the other locations got major upgrades. We did get pickleball courts, but I don't see them used often. There was a pickleball game inside on the basketball courts, but no notice was given, that we saw. It would be nice to know because what if someone wanted to shoot hoops?

It is a 30 min drive from where I live. To arrive and not find parking, have someone not follow rules, and almost slip in the locker room, is making me wonder if I should stay.

To reserve a lane in the pool, or any other amenity that needs a reservation, you use the app.

Lamest app I’ve used in this century. Incredibly slow, poorly designed, redundant, and clearly not updated for the last 15 years, It worked, but took an unreasonable amount of time—for the first three months of our membership.

The app stopped reserving lanes three weeks ago. There is no IT Group to contact. Impossible to reserve lanes for both my husband and myself to swim simultaneously. Manager leaves messages for IT. Nothing happens. Meanwhile we can’t swim together.

The reason we go to this club is to swim together.

Please, please in-Shape, get a new app so we can get what we’re paying for.

I called Monday to inquire about a family membership and received surprisingly bad customer service, which has led me to seek another company. My first call was abruptly ended when a gentleman hung up on me as soon as I started to explain why I was calling. I called back immediately, and a lady answered who was rude and dismissive. Given the high cost of the membership and how nice the facility appears to be, I am genuinely shocked that the customer service experience was this poor. While I am disappointed, I'm glad I got this upfront exposure before committing to a membership. I will now be looking for a different gym for my family.

I’ve been a member of this gym for years, but recently the experience has been declining. Today was the first time I left after only a few minutes because of multiple issues.

On a Saturday morning, there were no large towels available even though it wasn’t very busy. Before starting my workout, I went to use the restroom in the cardio area, and yet again it was out of order, as it almost always is. This forces members to walk all the way across the gym to the locker room restrooms, which today didn’t even have toilet paper and were a mess. I couldn’t find any available staff to help, so after a few minutes of looking, I had to find some toilet paper myself and did so in a random locker.

When I went to wash my hands, I had to try three different sinks before finding one with soap. By the time I was finally ready to start my cardio session, the area had filled up and every machine I planned to use was taken.

Overall, stocking issues, lack of maintenance, and overcrowding during peak hours have made the gym experience increasingly frustrating. I really hope management resolves these issues, because this used to be a gym I genuinely enjoyed.

I joined this fitness center because I realized I needed to do some weight training as I got older. This location is the closes to me (a 50 minute drive and the next closest in Folsom is around 75 -minutes away. I joined online. I tried to schedule the free session with a personal trainer but none shoed at this location. I went into the fitness center and asked at the front desk and asked about personal trainers and she told me this location does not offer personal training! So I asked how does a new person get acquainted with the weight machines. She suggested I call the next day during the day. So I did and ws told, there is no one that can provide any orientation for a new member. I even offered to pay a staff member. The answer was still "no, we don't offer that". So I asked "so how does one learn about the different machines and how to adjust them. She said you can figure it out on your own or ask another member. If I had known this before I signed up, I wouldn't have signed up! Maybe a warning on the information on this location is warranted. I read the fine print and it looks like my only option is to cancel before my subscription renews. I'm amazed by the lack of support I've received from this location.

I have been a member for almost two years. Super crowded gym, machines do not work and are down for extended periods of time. Called the front desk as the past few visits to the gym have been excessively busy with people parking in "no parking" areas and in the middle of the street. The front desks response to my complaint and that I may find a new gym was "do what you gotta do." Very disappointed in this response and overall experience at In-Shape.

Updating my review from a few months ago, super disappointed - this gym is overly crowded, does not repair machines in a timely manner (I have counted 5 machines between treadmills and stair climbers that are currently down), wait times for machines are excessive, and I was burned in the steam room due to it not self-regulating properly. I like that they have a lot of supportive staff and the instructors are very helpful. I also like that they have a wide variety of machines and classes to choose from. I particularly like the climbing walls. The bathrooms are always clean and people are pretty courteous in general. It would be nice if the El Dorado location had more options like smoothies to offer.

I like that your hours are accommodating for people who work. I wish that all of the In-Shape had the smoothie bar option. I wish that the points we earn could be used for more items.

Awesome gym. Charlotte is an absolute G. I called to see if my missing earbud was in the lost and found by chance, Charlotte looked and didn't find it but she's still a G. Even though she couldn't find my earbud, Charlotte provided me with the necessary resources to help me overcome my late-diagnosed, stage 3 pancreatic cancer by covering all the hospital expenses including chemotherapy. Charlotte also saved my life when she performed CPR and used the AED in the weight room when I went into cardiac arrest. I am forever grateful for this gym existing.

I just canceled my membership after several years of being here. They do not clean the facilities well, especially the sauna, steam rooms, and showers. There are always weird smells coming from them, making them very unpleasant to use. The hot tub has way too much chlorine to the point that it itches to be in there. Good luck finding an available machine.

The best staff I have ever encountered at any gym I have ever been at. I’m not exaggerating. Has multiple issues with my membership- they (jenn and Robin) calmly helped me resolve it all. My autistic toddler son was treated with dignity and respect at the kids club (you don’t understand how much this means to me). I went to in shape about a week ago for a tour and complimentary work out. The gentleman at the front desk was immediately trying to get me to sign up for a membership before I had to even toured the gym at all. I mean literally as I walked in the door. I explained that I would like to have a tour of the place and maybe try out the equipment before I decided, considering it's about $100 a month. He was pushing me to get the VIP membership which I alerted him that I still hadn't toured the club and I would like to see the facility. After I had taken a few laps in the swimming pool and went to the sauna to relax, inside the sauna I noticed a girl was in there with her smartphone pointing her phone literally directly at me then I switch to the steam room and she followed me in there as well with her phone pointing it directly at me again. So I went outside to the hot tub and guess who showed up? It was the girl with the smartphone again pointing it directly at me. So I got out of the hot tub and I just said forget it and as I was walking by the lap pool, I noticed that there was large brown chunks in the bottom of the pool that looked very similar to poop. Not only was I absolutely mortified, I started to feel physically sick. I was thoroughly disgusted took a shower immediately, oh wait but first I had to clean out the bottom of the shower which was covered in long hair. I was absolutely grateful I had thought to bring shower shoes because I wasn't sure how it clean it would be. I would highly recommend exploring other options.
It's now about a week later and I'm starting to feel physically better after taking a few laps in that disgusting pool.

If any member of In-Shape happens to read this, please do not reply with an email address for me to respond to because that's just a waste of my time as well as yours if you really feel like doing something to assist with potential members or even current members who are having the same problems, I would leave a phone number for people to contact you directly. And if you really care about the quality of your environment that you're offering to members and potential members I would highly recommend a deep and thorough cleaning of the entire establishment from top to bottom before you have a lawsuit on your hands.

My location is great. The weight room has almost 1 of everything I could want, an Overhead Pullover machine would be an amazing addition, please. Having the InBody testing, the hydro beds, and massage chairs. THE TOWEL SERVICE! Yes, I love having that and the shampoo in the showers. They did go cheap on the men's locker room shower drain repair, and it took over a week and then it started to have issues again within a month. All the construction guys in the locker room talked about it and how it could have been done right in just 3 days, but it would cost twice as much. It's also a major bummer when I go into the dry sauna at 7:30 am and it's not working just to hear the front desk say, "Sorry it wasn't turned on because the guy who has access doesn't come in until later." That sounds like someone needs to be trained.

The gym is very well maintained by extremely friendly and helpful staff. I have interacted with several staff members on different occasions, and ALL provided me with exceptional customer service. The gyms is constantly being cleaned -- management makes sure our health comes first! I really like the towel service -- one less thing I have to bring to the gym! I enjoy the use of the massage facilities and my wife and I are always able to reserve massage chairs and massage beds on short notice. The pool and spa are wonderful facilities that we also use regularly. Coming to the El Dorado InShape gym is like having a mini-vacation!

I hate to leave this review because I absolutely loved this club, but I’ve been struggling with them for going on 6 months to refund me for an extra month they charged me for. I have sent half a dozen emails and gotten zero response. They don’t give out a phone number to corporate, and I can’t find anything online. So I’m stuck sending emails that aren’t responding to, waiting for them to fix their mistake. I love all the different activities I can do while my kids enjoy the kids center! I love the stair stepper, the weights down stairs, and the sauna! The barre class with Oran is INCREDIBLE! And I just love how big and spacious the whole place is. I never feel like I’m in someone’s way or vice versa. My only wish is that they have longer childcare hours because I would love to go at other points during the day. My recommendation would be to keep the kids center open from 8-1pm and 3-8pm. Those two additional hours would make a HUGE difference.

This place is so run down it’s bizarre. All the treadmills and cardio equipment are old and dirty. The treadmills themselves are not properly cleaned or greased so they don’t rotate properly and make horrible noises. Things are always out of order probably due to being improperly maintained. I don’t know what they are doing with all the high membership fees because they are certainly not putting it back into maintaining the gym.
Everything feels dirty and run down. There are more hallways and twists and turns than equipment. Huge waste of space. Fitness 19 has better quality shipment and is maintained and cleaned regularly.

Got a membership back in July. Never being told or made aware it was a yearly contract. So after using it for a couple months and deciding I really didn’t need it and went to cancel. I was told that it was a yearly contract and if I was to cancel I would need to pay for every month up until my year was up, all at once. Which is absolutely ridiculous. I had someone from the gym contact member services and never heard anything back from them. As I was waiting to hear back, a couple months passed into the membership and I get an additional $100 charge for “maintenance fees” even though I haven’t been to their gym in MONTHS. So of course I was irritated and contact the gym. This time around talking with the people there I was told that it would actually only be $250 to cancel the contract. Which I don’t understand why before this that wasn’t made clear to me as I ended up spending far more paying monthly. To me this is very fishy and feel like I was getting takin advantage of. Along with the cancellation fee I need to still pay the $100 maintenance fee, that for whatever reason couldn’t be waived, and then the coming monthly fee still needing to be paid which adds up to be around almost $500. This is getting to be ridiculous. Frustrated and wanting this to be done with I agree to this and am told it will be applied on the first of December. While I was talking to the people at the gym they had told me that putting my account on hold was another option until I could figure something else out. As the month went by I had realized that I most likely won’t have the money to pay that fee come the first, as it it is a massive fee! This in all is costing me well over $1000 -$2000 in all after the time spent paying monthly trying to get this resolved. Anyways, I call the gym up and ask to put it on hold until I can make the payment and am with not surprise here, denied. That brings me to here, letting the gym know, please help get this resolved as I have tried everything, thanks.

We really love this gym! The equipment and locker rooms are always clean and in good repair. They provide complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body wash that smells like oranges! The pool and spa are clean and the perfect temperatures. The staff is always super sweet and helpful. The only thing that could use a little improvement is the Kid Zone. It's well staffed and safe, but they aren't supposed to accept sick children and multiple times we've gone in there to pick up our son and there are kids running around with snotty noses and hacking coughs and then a few days later, he ends up sick too. I know kids are often sick and it's inconvenient to keep them home but one of the reasons we chose this particular gym is due to their sanitary practices. I have an autoimmune condition and just finished cancer treatment/chemotherapy, so avoiding illness is really important for me. I know that I'm taking a risk just by going to the gym in the first place but I consider it a calculated one due to the generous amount of disinfectant they provide for the equipment and the fact that I wash my hands/sanitize frequently. The only thing I can't really get around is my son being in such close proximity to sick kiddos. 😓 I understand my situation is unique and that this wouldn't be a huge concern for most people, so aside from that, I would highly recommend this gym to everyone!

This is one of the prettiest In shape locations I have visited. It has everything from the amazing pools to the great clean lockers. The steamroom is not that steamy and it's a bit dark in there. Other than that all the areas are great. I only use the fitness studio and the cycling room but I enjoy all the cleanliness of the place.

DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE! When you want to cancel it’s almost impossible. I ended up writing several emails to cancel as you cannot cancel in the app or the website or on site. I had my membership on hold when I cancelled. I asked to be cancelled effective sept 12 and they took my account off of hold and and charged me $80 for canceling for Oct1st!! Tonight while letting our children swim at the pool at In Shape in Shingle Springs. Our children found pool noodles in the pool. They and several other children were playing with the noodles- when a full grown woman approached the children and berated them on how unruly they were to be using “her” noodles. She then took the noodles from the children and kept on yelling at them. Ages of the children ranged from 4-11 just for context. She apparently is a volunteer teaching an aquatic class. It wasn’t the fact she disliked them using them. In fact we would have been happy to discontinue use. It’s the fact a full grown adult woman 70 plus years of age took it upon herself to display herself as an employee and berate small children. Then to make it completely unacceptable continued to gossip about the situation that had already been handled, to the point entire group of women she was “ training”. I sat and listened to her talk about how misbehaving my children were being in her opinion. Completely unacceptable behavior towards children.

This club is very nice. The people are kind and helpful. I am learning to play pickleball and the fundamentals insructor Mark is very patient and helpful. William gave me a tour on my first visit and I was sold. I like the "Pink Room" for just a quiet workout and the raquetball courts are good for working on my pickleball skills. I have taken the Body Pump class with Paula and she is very clear when she leads the class and gives options for the weight lifting if you need that. My son was a guest last week and he liked it also.

This place is always run down and all the main equipment is always broken. The steam room has been broken for months. The sauna is now out of order. The hot tub is also out of order alot. Very disappointing. Before it was in shape...everything always worked. The management has really dropped the ball with this place.

I have been going to in-shape for years! It has always been a great experience. Both locker rooms have a steam room, sauna, and showers. There are multiple weight rooms, cardio area, circuit training, cycling room, indoor racket ball court, lap pool, family pool, spa, and tennis courts. They offer tons of classes every day as well! They use to offer personal training as well, when the pandemic hit, they stopped doing this. I wish they would bring it back! Over all great gym with something for everyone!

Have been going to this Gym for 3 months now and have had a great experience so far. The staff is always so kind and welcoming. They have all the gym equipment you could need and I absolutely love the dry and wet sauna after a workout. The facility is very clean. Anytime I’m there I see the staff going above and beyond to keep it sanitized and clean. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

I love the El Dorado location. It is in a beautiful setting, the facility is always clean with plenty of equipment to use. The staff is always, always, friendly and helpful! This is one of my Happy places and I cannot live without it!

Love our gym and the amenities it offers, especially the kids area! Love the showers also. However, the membership cost is expensive and continues to rise. (And let's not forget the yearly fee of like, $50 on top of that.)

I don't mind paying it but wish the equipment was better maintained for the price we pay to utilize it. (There are at least five treadmills upstairs that haven't been functioning for several months.)

I love the weight rooms and the machines and all the classes they offer that are included in my membership .The pool area is always clean and inviting . I enjoy that the locker rooms have a dry sauna and steam room and that the showers are all provided with shampoo ,conditioner and body wash. They even have blowdryers for our convenience. The staff members are always friendly and helpful, I also like that they have several promotions and deals throughout the year.

Amazing club. Love it. Expensive as hell but compared to other local clubs 1000 times better. I love the amenities the showers and lockers are critical for me. I work out at 5 am so this place is perfect. Gym work home. That's my routine and this place fits the bill. Some equipment needs attention with peeling covers etc but tennis, kids club, basketball, gym, shower, sauna, racquetball and pickleball what else could I want? Slightly more affordable and better maintained equipment.

I love their pools. I go for the water aerobics mostly. They have excellent COVID safety protocols. They work hard to stay clean and safe. Huge assortment of machines, classes, and activities including tennis, basketball, and pickleball.

This is a wonderful club with dedicated, professional, friendly and intelligent associates. Spencer, Cheryl, Jillian, Cameron and Shelby are especially helpful and kind.

The equipment, locker room and pool are clean and shining, and I feel safe there during the Days of Covid. The pool and hot spa are just the right temperature, and I'm looking forward to using the fabulous sauna and steam room when Covid restrictions ease.

During the early months of Covid when the club was shut down I felt like a discombobulated hamster without her wheel. Now I am happy and balanced again with endorphins flowing as I joyously work out again.

Me and my wife were members on a family plan that was cancelled recently by the primary members because of health issues. We decided we wanted to rejoin, so we visited the Shingle Springs club that we had been going to for a year. We were shocked at the new pricing structure and amenities that they removed. All members at the club were previously supplied a towel if they so wished. Now you are only supplied a towel if you pay for a higher membership. All members had access to all of the group classes. Now you only have access to some of the classes, unless you pay the higher membership. All of these classes and the towels are not available due to Covid which is understandable, BUT you are charging more for membership and offering less, all at a time where none of these amenities can even be supplied!!! With the cost, membership limitations and with the amount of time you get with a workout reservation (half hour) it doesn't seem worth it. I have tried to reach out to [email protected] 21 days ago with no response. I have called their customer service number multiple times, I either go to a voicemail indicating to call back normal business hours M-F (even though I only call during normal business hours) or there is more than a 20 minute wait time. No matter how long I wait I am unable to get through to someone. Please respond to Case number 00513809. Trying to get through by phone is impossible.
