I have been going to this gym for a few years & I absolutely love it. I love how much space there is even if itβs busy thereβs a room or equipment available to workout in. I am always greeted by both Vanessaβs at the front desk! They are the sweetest not just to me, but to every member they encounter. This gym is the best one in town!

In-Shape Family Fitness isn't just about getting a great workout, it's about building a community. Their welcoming atmosphere fosters positive vibes, while their exciting group fitness options like racquetball and other team sports create a space to connect and challenge yourself alongside others. It's the perfect place to find encouragement, forge friendships, and celebrate a healthy lifestyle together.

There is a wide selection on equipment and ways to workout, not to mention all the different sport options and classes too. I've already recommended a couple friends and family members to try out the Browns Valley In-Shape, after asking them what they were looking for in a gym it seems they have something for everyone. The staff is very friendly and the gym is kept clean at all times of the day.

Love coming to the gym here. Staff is friendly, coffee is great & it's never too busy where a machine is so occupied. Everything is spaced out enough to get a great workout in. Staff is constantly cleaning. Overall love this environment. This is my second home. You rock!

My husband loves it. But after I have been a member for a while I must edit my previous review. I swim laps in the mornings before work. So of course I utilize the restrooms. The showers are gross and really need to be addressed if you expect to keep me as a patron. I'm also available on weekends if you would like to hire me to deep clean showers so your staff can just maintain through the week. They are seriously gross. Yesterday I used the 1st shower when you walk in and it was clogged drain which is so annoying and gross. I don't want to stand in a gross puddle. Further more when I swam today I checked the shower and it was still clogged. So why not put a sign to not use it and that you are aware and it is being addresses??

After almost 15 years with In Shape it's time to move on. Gyms are service based. When customer service is almost non existent and corporate is unavailable for feedback particularly after a new ceo steps in, it speaks volumes as to their goal: fill the gyms, use old outdated broken equipment with only one service guy for all locations. They own the old equipment from over 30 years ago. Most gyms lease and have the company maintain. I know they own because I used some of this stuff almost 30 years ago at Millenium and it is subpar for a premium gym. The final straw was the disgusting broken dilapidated sauna they rarely if ever clean. Don't believe me, tour the bathrooms. They are not fit for public use. I'm not paying good money for a staph infection. Good bye old friends hello to the new gym right behind the old one on Elmira, you know, the place with rude staff, overcrowded equipment and where the coed Saunas might give you and std along with staph. Try and find a number to call InShape corporate and speak with a human, good luck and good luck staying healthy in a cesspool.

This gym DOES NOT advocate for women.
Had an incident where an old man (a regular patron according to management) had invaded my space, physically stopped the machine I was on in an attempt to kick me off, and management did not address it at all.
To explain more about the situation, I only attempted to spend 105 seconds on a machine. I finished one rep and an old man had asked to use the machine I was on. I replied that I was going to do one more set (45 more seconds). I pulled on the machine to start and this man PULLED THE MACHINE BACK, and yelled at me "Get off." I stayed right where I was. He still holding onto the machine and I had yelled at him to get away from me. He walked away to get the manager/supervisor.
The manager DID NOT address this man getting in a women's space. All he said to the man was to let me finish my exercise, skip the machine I was on and come back.
Extremely disappointed in the way management handled the situation because now the old man believes he can go around and do this to women at this gym. Please be safe ladies. Take your business elsewhere or please bring a gym buddy with you! It's a shame I no longer feel safe at this gym!

β Terrible Experience β Unorganized & Unresponsive! β
I had an extremely frustrating experience with In-Shape Fitness in Vacaville (Browns Valley Rd.) regarding their March 2025 pickleball tournament. A week before the event, I was assured that everything was good to go for my partner and meβas long as she paid. Fast forward, she apparently didnβt pay on time, and they withdrew us without any notice! This forced me to cancel my travel plans to Sacramento, re-schedule work meetings, cancel my hotel reservation, and scramble to make last-minute plans - and my GF and I just wanted to play some pickleball, so we were bummed.
To make matters worse, they were completely unresponsive for three days leading up to and during the tournament - literally. Emily was nice, and she tried to get a hold of anyone for me to talk to. When I finally got through, the club promised a refund. A week laterβnothing. I called Anna today, and she suddenly claimed that she couldnβt issue a refund. So which is it? Why was I told one thing and then given the runaround?
This level of disorganization and poor communication is unacceptable. I simply want my refund, it's not even about the money anymore, yet all Iβve gotten is excuses and silence. If youβre considering participating in any of their events, think twice.
Would NOT recommend. ππ

There are many different types of things to review at such a facility. I had always been a 24hr Fitness / Anytime Fitness member, and didnβt want to put money into a more expensive membership. We came to In-shape because it was a convenient location for us. My partner likes to swim and they have a heated lap pool. I mostly enjoy the community feeling I have when working out here. I enjoy the classes that I take, and have some favorite instructors like Holly, Marina, and Cyndi ! It keeps me motivated and coming back. They have a lot of courts, pools, machines, equipment, classes, etc for all levels of fitness, and even child care (child must be a member).
As much as I LOVE coming to this gym, I still would like to point out that that there are some maintenance issues that I hope continue to be acted on. Last year the AC in the main room of the classes was broken majority of the time , and there were often times it was overheating in there (not fun for workouts π₯΅) and from time to time the heater in the lap pool isnβt working. But heyβ¦ things break..
Overall, Iβm very happy to be a member of this gym.
Additional Shout Out to Vanessa who is at the front desk and greets everyone with a big smile and positive attitude. Sheβs always a pleasure, and helpful when needed!

Not even a member for 2 weeks and cancelled because of the atrocious childcare staff. As someone who worked at a childcare facility at a gym, they donβt even do the bare minimum. My son is 3 and has been going to gyms since he was 8 weeks old and Iβve never had problems until we got here. The $250 cancellation fee was 100% worth it to never send him back there again. We donβt go to this location often, but I have always loved it and never had a problem until today. Long story but the attendant today in the kid zone was unprofessional and rude. Her impatient vibe was rubbing off on all of the children and I had never seen so many crying or so many mamas getting called in. My children have never had a problem staying in the daycare, but somehow this specific attendant made it unbearable for them.
While I was leaving my complaint about her, I chatted with 3 other moms who felt similarly and agreed that if they see her on the shift, they donβt leave their kids. I understand she may have been having a bad day, but donβt put her to work in the kid zone then.
Might try the location again, skipping the kid zone, or just stick to the other locations where the kid zone workers are nurturing, professional and kind. Just thought Iβd warn other mamas out there.

Gym Machines / Weights / Cardio are outdated but space makes it easy to get a good workout in.
New room has been remodeled with rogue type racks and large area for floor work or physical therapy type movements.
The pool area is amazing, 3 different pools and cabanas. Pickle Ball also available.
Hopefully they will update the free weights - some are iron some are rubber bumper type weights. Pet Peeve of mine, have all the same type weights!
Treadmills need to be updated. They are built for a 120# person to run on and in my opinion not industrial strength or up to standard for a commercial gym.
Price Point a little high unless you take advantage of the pool(s)
Overall a great atmosphere to get ya swole on or to lounge by a pool.
Dec. 2023 - Cardio equipment breaks down and not fixed for months. Sad the management does not take pride in having equipment fixed in a timely manner. If they purchased the correct cardio equipment for a large scale gym then the equipment would not break-down.
Here is a clue for the Browns Valley Management- go to the Elmira Location, take note if the equipment at that location and then purchase the same stuff!! You are welcome!!

Good gym if you like other activities such and swimming, tennis and so forth. I prefer the other Inshape in Vacaville for equipment, feels less crowded. However this one has everything you need. I have been a member of the In Shape club in Vacaville on Browns Valley Rd for almost a year. I keep hoping they will clean up the place but it does not seem to be a priority for the management. I have to say the main common area, as you enter the facility is always vary tidy but the workout areas and especially the mens locker room it filthy. The equipment is covered in grim that looks like it has been there for years and the mens showers are questionable if one should even use them. Also, the towels they supply are a joke. I think you could do a better job of getting dry with toilet paper. There are misc trash items on the floor that continue to be there for weeks. I think the place has a lot of potential if only the management opened their eyes.

Updated review: after being given hope for several months it has finally been revealed that the basketball courts will not be re-opening. I think it's bad business to dangle the carrot when members ask about something you've probably already decided on from a management perspective. I would have fully respected getting a straight answer, but it's hard not to believe it was purposefully not communicated so that people wouldn't cancel their memberships.
I would happily give this gym a 5 star review if they would get the basketball court going again. The gym is clean and spacious and has great equipment.
As other reviewers have noted there are no gyms in Solano county with a basketball court-seems it would be a no brainer from a business standpoint to reopen the court here. The machines taking up the court only cover half the court, are rarely in use, and most of them are redundant. I am a casual weightlifter and an avid basketball player, so it's really hard for me to justify paying the membership for no basketball.
I've been told multiple times over the past year or so that they're "thinking about" opening the court back up. Seems like that carrot is being dangled with no actual plans to do it, so I'll probably be canceling my membership soon. Please consider opening the court, not because you necessarily care about current members, but because it will bring a lot of new/returning members.

Joined for the indoor basketball courts. Since other clubs closed that equipment has been moved onto the basketball court and the the rims have been taken down. With no ETA of the use of the basketball courts coming back. Now that it's summer time is anyone really trying to play basketball outside in the Vacaville heat? Other than that the club is kept up well for the most part, just not getting everything I signed up for...

I joined In-Shape specifically because they have a basketball court. This is the only In-Shape in Solano county that had one, and now they moved a bunch of exercise equipment in there and its been like that for months. For the high price of $90/month, you'd figure they atleast get feedback from their customers before just taking out one of their best amenities. They have plenty of room outside where the tennis courts are to move the equipment out there. Or atleast have a basketball court outside. I am considering cancelling my membership and joining the Kroc Center in Suisun City. They are only $30/month and they have a full gym, pool, and basketball court.

So far since re-opening from covid has not been to standard. Bathrooms always dirty, reduced amenities (towels, drinks, access to pools/courts). Outside gym was kind of cool, then they moved a lot of that into the basketball court.. so no basketball now I guess. The TV in lobby used to have sports or new; the Olympics are going and TV is a screen telling ppl to keep social distance. Many times 2-4 staff at front desk talking or on phones while multiple stalls in bathrooms are closed off and all filthy. Pools and hot tub recently all closed. Not sure if they can convert to salt water if chlorine is scarce.. but no communication from the club on any of this stuff.

I start going to Browns Valley In Shape Club October 2, 2020, because my gym in Alamo is lock down. Before I start, Crystal & Marissa help me set-up my iPhone. And Marissa took me for a tour I start using the pool 7 days a week walking back and forth for therapy due to my disabled legs. The front desk Bre, Coby, Darren, DeAndre amd Steven are great and respectful employees. This club is always clean. I even see the manager Crystal buffing the floors helping out her employees great leader. Since I use the pool 7 days week it is nice, heated and cleaned. I even told some of my military veterans who use the Alamo Gym to activate their account and still pay the same price since the lockdown and they can use Browns Valley Club, until Alamo open, or do upgrade with Browns Valley. I feel safe from Covid, because Crystal and her staff remind members about the 6ft and wearing of the mask. Great gym to workout, and clean.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE- DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY HERE
We tried to contact InShape to cancel our membership for over SEVEN MONTHS before receiving a reply back. They charged us for a month after we put in our cancellation both with the club and corporate, and after 3 more emails to corporate we finally got a response, which literally took 7 months. The response states we were not entitled to a refund of that month where we had requested cancellation within terms, and that our membership was cancelled. Oh yeah, they also charged us the annual club improvement fee during the 7 months it took for corporate to acknowledge our request to cancel, but will not give a refund. Absolutely terrible customer service.
I've been paying for in shape memberships the past 5 years, and my schedule with work disallows me to arrive until the last hour when "reservations are closed".
The lady up front said on now multiple occasions "you can't come in late for your reservation" and disallowed entrance.
What is this? I pay for a membership here. I'm not an freaking employee for this stupid company. I'm not paying $80 a month for a membership that won't let me workout for 45 min.
As of now I'm cancelling my membership here.

This club has opened and is available by appointment only. The staff there is limited to 2 individuals. In-Shape is taking extra precautions to keep their members safe and healthy.

Good energy at this Browns Valley location. I think they have a new GM. For awhile there, it was touch and go. Staff always seen keeping things tidy. Hoping this year they clean pool a little more often. Last summer I stopped swimming and let management know they need to keep up. I just can't...too much floating debri and oil slicks. Pool area always tidy and furniture decent.

I'm generally, ok really not a gym goer...I prefer being outside. That being said, my health and injuries motivated me to try the gym for a 7 day free pass where my husband's been regular at. I HATE smelly chlorinated gyms BUT This gym barely had one! I suffer from chemical sensitivities and after day one I managed... may repost. It was a low key pleasant environment. Seemed to have a lot of equipment and options with tons of space and each type has their own room. It was not crowded. The people there were to themselves. As always got a phone call immediately but they were not pushy for a membership just helpful for what I needed so far. Today will go again but so far this is my favorite gym experience.

I take the Grit class on Wednesdays during my lunch break and Janet is the best! I have tried their circuit one or two times as well. I have always found this gym clean and the staff professional.

Nice gym with lots of workout equipment and class options. Can be a little pricey compared to others but the amount available to you makes it worth the cost

Always have my favorite cardio machine open. The front desk girl always knows my name. I kinda feel like a jerk that I cant remember hers. I just wish the cardio area was down stairs heat travels UP so it's always super hot. Other than that, love it

Pros: Clean towels, lots of equipment, two pools, tennis courts, and lot of space.
Cons: poorly organized, it takes a minute to figure out where things and rooms are. Some of the machines are weirdly spaced out. If you don't mind spending time in a corn maze, this is definitely the place for you!
