In-Shape is a great environment and it has been like a second home to me for the past 4 years! It is a place where you can be comfortable, everyone is friendly, and there is a wide variety of equipment and spaces to get your workout on. Being a part of the in-shape experience has helped me become my best self and has boosted my confidence over the years. The kid’s club is also a great place for my child to run around and let loose while I get some much-needed “me time” and afterwards he’s nice and tuckered out for nap time! The only complaint I have about the kid’s club is that there is no verification of vaccine records, which would put me more at ease to know he isn’t exposed to anyone with a preventable disease, which is a policy in a normal daycare or school setting. I’d appreciate if this was taken into consideration, but aside from the kid’s club, In-Shape Ridgecrest is a great place that fosters the health and well-being of the community.

I'm a new member and the club has everything you could want at lower cost than other clubs. I live in the high desert area and it's nice to have lots of locations available. My main club is in Ridgecrest and I appreciate that they're open most hours. The clubs are also invariably very clean with machines that are in great condition.

In Shape is the only gym in town, as far as I know, since the Base gym is broken. I find that it is disrespectful to our town that they choose to not update any of their equipment since they have opened. There are only three stair masters, which are all broken most of the time. One of the two rowing machines has also been broken for a while. There is no designated stretching areas. You can stretch in the ONE group fitness room, but it is taken up by classes for a large part of the day. There is also only two squat racks, which can be occupied for 30 mins at a time. Lastly, In-shape chose to locate themselves on the run-down old Vons building and because of this they are constantly having maintenance issues such as leaking ceilings and electrical issues. These issue cause them to close for days at a time. They are in serious need of updating the facility, but the Ridgecrest location has been ignored for a while so who knows when that will happen.
P.S. we are charged a yearly fee for updates. where does that money go? I don’t think it’s being used for updates.

Edit: also the swimsuit dryer had been broken since i moved back in July.

This gym is a constant disappointment. It has plenty of room but not enough equipment for when it is anything other than empty. They have over 30 machines for cardio and only 2 actual squat racks. The ceiling has a ton of leaks so when it rains (not very often but it does happen) it leaks an incredible amount. If this gym was not my only real option I would not go there. This gym was closed after the earthquake for a month and still charged my family for our membership despite us not being able to use the facilities.

My son is wanting to get a membership there. In May 2017, signed up around May 15. I got a call that my father living in Arkansas had cancer and my mom needed me. I packed up both kids and left as soon as school was out. We stayed the summer with my father and he passed away in Aug. I had flown home late July abc my daughter had surgery on her shoulder and with the stress a few days later broke my foot. The last thing on my mind was my monthly fee of $100. Mind you we never used the gym. I saw that a payment was to come out in October. I called in tears and explained what happen. I was told they couldn’t stop October from coming out, but if I could show proof of my daughters surgery abc my broken foot, they would give me back $300, but not the other $300. They looked it up and saw we never really started. I sent the documents and never received $300 back. With all the stress I was tired of it. Out $600 for 6 months with family emergencies. Not even offered to come in maybe for 3 months. I just said screw it. Well my son is almost 16 and sober this is really the only place in town... I dint want to give In Shape another $1. I called In today to ask why I never received it, yes I know it’s been 2 years, but the lady I spoke with oct 2017 is no longer there and there was nothing in my records.... I was thinking about letting him if they would honor their end of half back or let him go for a few months. The cooperate lady was really rude snappy and basically told me she was done talking to me :(

In Shape has everything you need for fitness and strength training, relaxing in the steam room, sauna, hot tub, lap swimming, this is one of the most professionally run gyms i have ever been too, including my experience of over 5 military mwr ran gyms around the world. It is extremely clean, and any problems have to do with other inconsiderate customers, some of which have commented negatively here. I've seen a few extremely hateful reviews including assuming a diligent workers gender and or sexual preferences as if it had anything to do with the work that this employee performs. I find it abhorrent that something like that would be commented on in a review of a business that offers a service, and a damn good one at that. Keep up the great work guys and gals ThankYOU!!

A member for several years. I was told I could put membership on hold after an injury. Apparently no one actually did it for me. Then head office was not very nice. I lost several months of my membership, AND personal training. They wouldn't even offer to discount a new membership... Also, too many kids in the pool. Little ones at that 😒

The weight facilities are awesome. Customer service, not so much. I signed up for VIP membership on May 9 2018 so I could get access to the tanning bed. After my first session I let the front desk know that there was a bulb flickering. Trying not to be too naggy I inquired to the front desk about once a week, and finally talked with Chuck the new manager on June 15 2018 to explain my frustration. He assured me that it would be taken care. (Spoiler Alert!) It was not. On July 12 2018 I talked to the new assistant manager Erin who assured me it would be addressed (See photo dated July 12). I got a call back on July 16 from Erin that the bulb issue had been resolved and that she had even double-checked it herself. I was out of town, but took the other photo today (July 24) to show that obviously it had not been fixed, only the #4 bulb had been repaired. If you know anything about tanning beds, when they reach a high number of hours (800 – 1000 hours for this model), you replace them all to ensure a consistent and even tan, not yard-sale-ing it together like InShape did just replacing 1 burnt bulb to create a hot spot. What a lousy way to save a buck. Overall I am extremely disappointed with my “VIP” service and still waiting to hear back from my July 12 inquiry for a VIP service refund. I'd appreciate a call on the matter Chuck or Erin.

7/26/2018 Update: Got a call yesterday from the assistant manager (thanks for the call) indicating the bed had been fixed and all the bulbs replaced! However... Came in this morning and the bulbs are still burnt out! The manager also said that a refund was coming for my "VIP" service, but like the bulbs I'll believe it when I see it.

8/2/2018 Update: it's unfortunate it takes a 1/5 star Google review to get folks to act, but bulbs got replaced last week and a refund for the VIP membership has been reinstated. My impression of InShape management is I am too much trouble for actually giving some feedback that something is not being maintained and services are not as advertised, as it was recommended by a staff member that maybe the VIP service won't meet my needs. Regardless, upping my rating to 3/5 for their corrective action.

I gave these guys a pretty bad review a couple of years ago and they deserved it. I been going there for two years and things have improved, especially the customer service, which now they seem to go out of their way to explain the membership details fully and accurately to me every time I sign up a new member. I had heard from another member that they had a lawsuit against them for explaining the membership one way and then writing it on the contract differently.

The equipment has always been good and the classes are great; and the major reason I am still a member and haven't started using the local free gym in our neighborhood. The maintenance on the equipment, pool and spas has improved and has been fairly decent. I almost signed up for the VIP membership but they downgraded it and no longer allow you to bring a guest 3 times a month so it isn't worth the extra charge for just the towel service and the one tanning bed or the massage chairs they have upstairs but their regular membership is a pretty good deal. I'm going to go ahead and give them the benefit of the doubt and upgrade my review to 4 stars but I almost didn't because of the way they've done business in the past.

It is sad to say that this is the only Gym in town. The Facility overall is great, but there are some issues and I would like to inform upper management to resolve them as they were not resolved inside the facility. I am writing this review based on my elderly mothers experience of service and what I have been able to experience myself. About 4 months ago I signed up my mother with a gentlemen (not such a gentlemen in the future) named Charlie, Chucky or Charles. I do not recall his name for the reason being he talked way to fast, but he does look like Peter Griffin, and boy, does he act like him too. He was an average used car salesman and tried to persuade us to get the membership. Its the only gym in town with a hot tub, so of course we were going to sign up, but I wanted to make sure my mother felt safe. Red Flag #1, I asked for a guest pass, an was denied because she was not a local resident. Well, ok I am sorry my mother just moved from Vietnam an only has a passport, but i moved passed it and told him we would think about it an would come back. A couple of weeks we came back, and we returned hoping that Charlie might of had a bad day and we could move past his horrible customer service. We were greeted by this Character again, and with a Snarly tone laughed and said "told you, you would be back". Red Flag #2, come to find out this individual is in management, wow I said to myself, why would anyone hire such a condescending narcissist who belittles individuals as soon as you are welcomed. Moving Past all these negatives, my mother has enjoyed the facility and the hot tub, but for the last 2 months the hot tub is a mess. 70% of the time that she came in, the tub was down due to "maintenance issues". Hey my mom frequents the facility, 3-4 times per week, so maybe its not down that much, but it is always down over the weekends. This all started at the beginning of the year for some reason, maybe because more people come in? not the case from my moms experience, the facility has the same amount of people. This is a small town, and people talk, an a girlfriend told me that Charlie is the new Manager. I said to myself you have to be kidding, and they all agreed that in the last month the gym is dirtier, spa is broken all the time, machines are more out of order than before, and Charles is always at the front with an angry face. RED FLAG #3, and the reason I finally decided to say something about it. I was trying to reach Charlie numerous times, left my number with the girls that answered the phone and I have not gotten a call back. I decided to try one last time, and he was beyond the most egotistic maniac I have ever spoken too! He blamed everyone except for himself when it came to the issues that I brought up. Interrupted me as I spoke, and not once addressed any of my Issues, he just simply gave excuses.

With all being said, the facility, the only facility in Ridgecrest that offers pool hot tub is great. I would give the facility 5 stars, but due to the fact that I have exchanged words with Chucky 3 times, he makes this facility a 1 star for our family. I hope that other individuals haven't shared the same scenarios as me, but based on others this is not the case.

Only gym available other than the naval base...and they know it. Everything is too pricy for the town's average individual income. A few of the trainers seem more interested in staring and ogling at bodies instead of genuinely training. There is always at least one treadmill broken, almost as if the upkeep isn't done correctly. You also can't really manage your account online, you have to come in for most things and call for others. Overall it's okay, but I would rather travel an hour to another town.
