1 star for the rental mat condition. Did the earliest hot yoga class and the instructor was great. However, I rented a mat and it was the most disgusting smelling mat ive ever used. Doing child pose was brutal because my face had to be so close but it was still unbearable when standing. I felt bad for the people next to me who undoubtedly also suffered the smell. I would never go again, even with my own mat, due to the possibility of someone next to me renting a mat

There’s something magical about Indie Yoga! Something I’ve not experienced at any other studio. The energy is peaceful, the teachers are gifted, and every class feels thoughtfully guided.

I had the honor and privilege to take Sean’s class – I have been to Indie Yoga 3 times in the last 6 weeks due to work travel. It is a studio that is in the heart of CHARMING OCEAN BEACH Ca. I’ve been on the mat for over 20years and I was so impressed!! Just wanted to give some formal feedback and compliments to "Sean" directly. His classes were AMAZING…so SO so hard and such a wonderful yoga experience! Hands down one of the best studios I’ve ever been to. I loved his classes and was truly impacted by his teaching and counsel. His rate and inflection, his cues were spot on, his timing was ideal, and his music ROCKED.

From my heart to yours…your Texas Yogi buddy for life.

Kind regards,
Dawn (San Antonio, TX)

After the lockdowns were ending it was time to get back to some hot yoga. Since I walked by Indie Yoga almost every day for lunch it hit me thinking, why not go some where super close. Over a year later I’m still going strong. I love the variations of each teacher and each class. This is absolutely an amazing yoga studio and community. Thank You !!

Update: I’m still have my membership at Indie Yoga 4.5 years later. I just got out of a class and it’s such a great way to start my day.

This is easily my favorite place in all of San Diego, where I look forward to returning to most when I'm back in SD. Tbh, not everything is perfect. The floor could be cleaned better. I wish there was a second shower. Classes can sometimes get very full. I have arrived with anxiety & contemplated leaving when it's really packed, but I'm ALWAYS glad I stayed. I've enjoyed yoga at many places, but it's never quite like at Indie. Between the heat, the incredible soundtracks, and talented, expressive, spirited instructors, the practice I get here is deeper and more challenging physically, helps me connect & process emotionally, and leaves me feeling spiritually uplifted like nothing else. Completely exhausted too! Been coming here for over a decade and hope its always here!

OB local here, I attended for the first time this week. Studio while beautiful is absolutely gross, not clean, and dirty. The floor was not swept before class. Other peoples hair from off the floor kept sticking to me during a Vinyasa class. It freaked me out. The instructor seemed to not have a lot of experience. Go to YogaBox instead it’s clean there

Not using my actual name for obvious reasons bc the owners responses to negative reviews seems weird to me

This place is amazing. Practiced yoga on 6 continents and Jon, Dani, and Caroline consistently deliver some of the best western style asana I’ve had the honor of experiencing. Jon’s way of deepening poses is masterfully gentle. Dani’s passion for teaching is spectacularly genuine. Caroline’s awareness of subtle things is extremely eloquent. Nearly all the teachers are next level. The owner herself is a kind legend. Reliably great vibes, perfect for sweating out recent life and replenishing what your heart needs.

I was in San Diego for work and decided to drop in and do some classes. The noon special was my intro to a hitt yoga class and it was a great push. In my practice I would normally never go this hard or use weights but I liked the change. Then Saturday I took a Vinyasa class and the instructor was patient and calm. I enjoyed his class and would love to learn from him again. The vibes were good, they had yoga mats to borrow. Places to store your shoes and other items. Plus there are multiple bathrooms and a water fountain.

Dropped in for a noon hot class after a red eye flight. It was a perfect reset, easeful process to join, and cozy welcoming studio.

I generally love hot yoga and have been trying different studios around the country. This is the only place with no people limit per class. It’s not a bad studio and I like the teaches and the facility but I guess the greed took over and they don’t really care to make it comfortable for people. I do enjoy a full class there is something about it but I have never seen anything this bad before. I mean everybody is few inches away from each other, there is no room whatsoever, even the teacher had to remove their mat today to let people not be on top of each other. Quite literally everyone on top of each other and it is already a hot class so this makes it double nasty. I had to leave the first five minutes of class because it generally gave me huge anxiety and like I said I normally enjoy a full class. I asked at the reception if they track the amount of people they allow per class and it didn’t seem like it. Apart from it being a pretty unpleasant experience I am sure they actually violate safety and fire codes. Anyway, maybe ease up on greed and make it right so people can actually enjoy your nice studio.

Very disappointed with this studio, I used to be happy with it as my local studio and nice owner, but it has gone downhill. There is no way to ever get a hold of anyone with questions or issues (no one has ever answered the phone in 2 years, and if you email you may be lucky to get an answer back 3-4 weeks later). Late comers are allowed to keep coming later and later, so classes are shortened and start 6-12 minutes late every time. They also have the longest late cancel of any workout studio I have seen (24 hours) when most are 8-12. I had canceled a classes 24 hours before but by the time the the computer registered it, it said I canceled it 23hours and 58minutes before and I lost my class pass, no one ever got back to me. Saddened what this place has become from what it used to be.

I used to love this studio! It had a down to earth vibe and creative instructors. Now John Jay and Asia are gone and I feel like I lost my community. Sad to see these changes happening.

Was visiting OB from out of town, so I got the unlimited $39 month pass. I really enjoyed both the Vinyasa I and II classes with Asia and Sean! Very down to earth teachers and interesting flows :)

Half of the instructors are very kind and teach wonderful flows. The other half not so much. I have been to classes here where they have invited us to try a pose then ridicules the class for doing the poses incorrectly rather than teaching like they are supposed to. It’s a hit or miss of being a peaceful or hostile experience.

Studio is clean and cool but classes often overcrowded.

Went to a 7:30 AM Sunday morning Vinyasa yoga class. Was one of the worst classes I’ve ever had. The instructor didn’t even start the class until 30 minutes later after he did these breathing exercises that went on forever. I wanted to get a good warm Vinyasa flow class to start my Sunday morning before a long day at work. Unfortunately, I was very, very disappointed. Indie yoga has great classes and great instructors, but Will needs a little more practice on flow yoga.

Feeling threatened after todays sound healing class

Right after I attended today’s sound healing class which ended at 3:30 pm, a guy (white/ roughly six feet tall/ curly black hair) came up to me and threatened not to come to the class again. I would like you/ management to take necessary actions as I don’t feel secure. If you can’t respond/ take necessary action, please let me know the next steps for me. I’m still shaking and made a few mistakes in the earlier email

I did a month trial of this place and mostly took lessons with summer. She is amazing, her voice projection is perfect, her music selection is my favorite- I even added a couple songs I heard to my own Spotify after being moved by them in the studio. Summer explains really well and will move through the exercises along with you especially as she transitions to make it more clear what poses we’re moving into. Honestly I only came here to take classes from her and im so happy I did because she knows how to get us flowing but she also knows how to keep a comfortable atmosphere. I also really liked Abigail and her yoga sculpt class ! She was really energetic but not in the bubbly type of way, more powerful and really motivating. We worked out past the time which was perfect because we finished strong and I felt like I got extra out of my session. I experimented with a couple other classes but these teachers really stuck out to me. The studio itself is quaint but well kept cleaned and furnished with two bathrooms and a really nice shower. I enjoyed my trial and I will likely be returning !

Cute boutique studio, comfy space with an upscale trendy/boho hippie/crunchy vibe - fits the neighborhood in Ocean Beach.. It's a relatively small room but so nicely decorated and everything smells nice. The 60 minute Bikram-style class met my expectations. 2 individual bathrooms with full showers inside but not many students use them so no line. 👍

The absolute best studio I've ever visited. There are a wide variety of classes, and every teacher is a standout star. They're super welcoming and always willing to answer any questions. If you've never done heated classes before, you're up for a challenge, but you gain so much more from the combination of physical exertion and mental clarity. Love it!

I went here twice while visiting from out of town. The people who work here are super nice and accommodating. The two classes I went to were heated. And they had a shower, which was amazing! I really liked the music and overall vibes of the place. Would definitely come again if back in town :)

I’m from Arizona, I moved to Escondido in 2019, I’ve been practicing heated vinyasa for 8 years.
I tried several other hot yoga studios, and they just didn’t have the “depth” I wanted. I tired Indie after many other attempts elsewhere and this is my Yoga home now.
Instructors are on point, flows are expansive and interesting, flooring is great, heat is great, everything is perfect. Keep it up Indie love what you do.

Has transformed my life in ways I never imagined. The staff is so amazing - always down to earth and provides a good balance between pushing you physically, mentally, and spiritually while also providing nurturing guidance and love along the way.

Since it's so popular there it is often very packed classes but to be honest this helps you appreciate the practice and tests you to let go of your space and become part of a greater consciousness that is emergent from the energy exchange amongst all the other people practicing.

Nothing but love for this place and it is actually a big reason I stayed in Ocean beach during a time of big change.

This was my first time doing hot yoga and I loved it! The studio was clean and cozy. The staff were amazing, especially the instructor who guides you with many years of expertise. He even helps you with your form and he had given my friend a mini massage with some type of icy hot gel or something and she was ecstatic! I'm going back tonight for more hot yoga and I'm considering a membership for one month unlimited! You must try Indie Yoga!

I love this place! There is just a really great energy from the time you walk into the door until the time you leave. They consistently have really great instructors who are really helpful and put together great flows and you are always greeted with a friendly face. It's nice to be able to know instructors by name and have them know you as well.

The classes are usually challenging but you are always encouraged to respect the level you are at and listen to your body. Great music, and I love the heat! I drive from North Park just to go here as I think it's better than any studio in my area.

This studio is my favorite in all of San Diego. It has a cool, Ocean Beach community vibe with a fresh, clean look.

I took class with Brooke and she was truly an amazing teacher. Her playlist was fun and made class more exciting. Brooke was so good at explaining poses that I was able to get into poses that I have never been able to do before. Everyone at the studio had a really nice positive energy. It is nice to attend a studio where the teachers know your name and recognize your face when you attend classes :)

The facility is really beautiful. There are great amenities, including showers and a towel service. Check in was easy and efficient and the prices are very competitive. A++ as far as yoga studios go!
