I would highly recommend Insand to anyone! I have been with insand for about four months now and have already gone to 62 classes. I used their one free Move class and bought the Skills class, which happens right after. I was hooked and bought the one month unlimited class pack. When that was done, I knew I was committed and bought the yearly pack.
They basically always have one move class for an hour, followed by one skills class that is an hour on weekdays and an hour and a half on weekends. The move class is a volleyball fitness class. It’s like a HIIT class with weights and volleyball drills. It focuses on helping you move quicker in the sand and get stronger to hit the ball. It’s a ton of fun and the music is always great. It’s good to do this class before skills because it gets you working and tired. It forces you to practice your skills in a more fatigued state, just like you would get while playing at the beach throughout the day.
The skills class is a typical volleyball practice with drills. It always ends with some form of fun playing, like king of the court.
They have a good amount of days and times so you can fit classes in and around your schedule. I personally go to all of the Tuesday and Thursday morning classes (7 am-9 am) at Long Beach community college. They are my absolute favorite and fit into my routine. There are a group of us who are committed to those classes, and it’s fun to grow with them as players.
Daniel is the instructor for those classes. He is the best. He is really kind and encouraging, but he will also push us to be better. We all have had specific things we want to work and improve on. He has been very receptive to these, and he will plan our drills to make sure we are able to devote time and attention to these skills. For example, I told him from the beginning that I wanted to work on my approach, specifically my feet for attacking, and we have had drills solely about that.
The other instructors are really great too. I have had classes with Cole on the weekends in Huntington Beach and have been to a few Monday and Wednesday night classes with Kahlee. And Reid will often fill in, and it’s always great to get his knowledge and insight on the mental aspects of volleyball. Getting to learn volleyball skills from a multitude of experienced players has definitely enhanced my knowledge of the game. Insand offers so much variety with times and instructors, and I think anyone would be able to find their niche.
If you live in the Huntington Beach area, they also have a gym there. Sadly, it’s too far for me since I’m in the Long Beach area, but if you’re thinking about it from a cost perspective, and you are in the HB area, being able to have access to a gym alone might be financially worthwhile.
The Insand community has been very warm and welcoming. Reid and the instructors care about our experience, listen to our feedback, and facilitate fun and challenging volleyball classes. It’s easy to make friends with the social aspect of the workouts and drills as well. And maybe most importantly, you will definitely improve your volleyball skills.

Amazing volleyball classes with knowledgeable and motivating coaches! The training is fun, structured, and really helps improve skills and confidence. They also offer an awesome Move class—a volleyball-specific workout that pairs perfectly with the training but is also great for anyone, even if you don’t play. It feels like CrossFit with a sports twist—challenging, fun, and effective. Highly recommend!

I love this class for so many reasons! I am a physical therapist and own a private practice, I am a certified exercise expert for aging adults. Everything I have learned and trained on are reiforced in these INSAND classes. if you are looking to create longevity and health, this is your community! I look at opportunities daily to create "muscle and healthspan" not just lifespan. How do you want to age? For me, I want to maximize my mobiity and life life to the fullest.
I have raised 4 daughters and that included driving them to club volleyball and beach tournaments for years. That is a lot of sitting! As my kids were getting stronger and more agile, I did my best to run, do triathlons and fitness classes to stay in shape but my atheticism/agility declined. As much as I enjoyed my kids team parents and community, I missed the community and competition that I once experienced in high school and as a college athlete. I had let 25 years pass before competing and my body, heart, and mind craved it. I learned about INSAND and even though I live 40 min away, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I would do that for my kids, why not for myself? From the first class, I was hooked! I signed up for unlimited and committed to do between 1-3 classes a week. Over the last year, the aches and pains I used to experience from "weekend warrior" training went away. The approach and training is ELITE! The experience of giving and getting 5s, building friendships, being coached in skills and mindset, grounding with sand underfoot and sun to promote vitamin D and other health benefits....the list goes on. Highly recommend this! It can change your life for the better!

Enough cannot be said about the coaches, the community, and the terrific environment of INSAND, which is why the classes are one of my favorite highlights every week.
I started knowing virtually nothing about beach volleyball – i.e. a true beginner. Yet despite some (very) extended breaks and having to cram most of my practice and playing into a short timespan each week (which is certainly not conducive to acquiring a new skill), the progress and improvements have been noticeable, steady, and rewarding.
Moreover, the coaches are fantastic, with special shoutouts to Cole and Fern! Cole is an awesome volleyball coach whose passion and encouragement alone motivates everyone to strive, and he authentically cares about everyone improving class to class. Fern is another amazing coach, who, with some mild but tenacious prodding, convinced me to try FIT on Saturdays during my early days with INSAND. I reluctantly capitulated and am now always grateful Fern encouraged me to do so – so much so I now regularly attend Saturday FIT.
However, the best part of INSAND is… the friendships coupled with everyone’s support and encouragement, especially the more experienced, skilled players, some of whom compete competitively, but who are always willing to share their knowledge with novice players such as me.
I highly encourage other beginners interested in beach volleyball to let their first exposure be with INSAND!

I’ve been a member of INSAND for nearly 3 years now. The coaches make every single class fun, challenging and rewarding. I can’t recommend this community enough; whether your goals are to improve your fitness, get better at volleyball or if you just want to connect with fun people on and off the beach!
Since joining, my body feels great, I’ve met an incredible group of friends and got my CBVA rating. Try a class and see for yourself!!

I wanted to share my experience with Reid and INSAND. I had purchased a membership of classes a few months back and shortly after had ruptured my achilles tendon and had surgery. Just this week I had noticed the billing was on auto payment and I had explained my situation and asked for a refund. I was shown the policy as to say, sorry about your situation, but we aren’t refunding you.
After explaining to Reid that I would be sharing my experience, Reid proceeded to hop in the email thread and “terminate our business relationship, effective immediately,” proceeded with “You have made it clear that we are not a good fit.” Reid, you and your team couldn’t honor a simple refund request due to me recovering from my current medical situation. See attachment.
I hope they do better going forward.
UPDATE 11/11:
Thanks for the reply, Reid. Glad to see you attempting to bury a negative comment by encouraging your people to leave positive reviews.
"INSAND has a zero tolerance policy for behavior that compromises our environment's positivity and respect." - Reid
Very convenient for you to have a zero tolerance policy for someone that had a bad experience with your company. Good job Reid! Way to pull another "policy" out of your hat instead of just accepting you could have done better and move on. People are allowed to have bad experiences, get over it and do better.

I am a full-time working mom of two boys, and have always wanted to learn beach volleyball but have very little free time to myself. I started taking classes a few months ago and have really seen improvement - it’s now my favorite part of my week. Cole is friendly, encouraging and genuinely invested in making everyone a better player - I couldn’t ask for a kinder coach. I’m so thankful I found InSand and this amazing community of players!

I’ve been going here for years! It’s one of the best volleyball and training programs in SoCal, and I’ve tried all of them. What I particularly enjoy about INSAND is the variety of programs that your membership includes. They have a FIT component to support strength and conditioning via workouts on the sand (think CrossFit on the sand, but it’s a little more collaborative) and a SKILLS component where you perform volleyball drills in groups. The classes never felt too large and ALL the coaches have been 100% engaged/supportive to help you reach your goals. It’s safe to say that I go to classes to see my friends AND coaches. And INSAND has their private gym! It’s never too crowded unlike other gyms in the area.
Outside of trainings, INSAND sends invites to events (local tournaments, pro games, etc), so you can be social with others. It’s what you make of it, but it’s become more like a family to me.
You can tell a lot about a company by its founders, too. You can see Reid Priddy’s (4x Olympian) passion to bring an Olympic experience to his members and his staff. It’s cool to see him support his coaches at Open/Pro events.
I highly recommend joining the INSAND fam. I hope to see you there!

I was a member a few years back and then moved away from the area for a little while. The second I moved back I made it a priority to join again. While InSand is a fantastic workout, what I really value is how it reconnects me to a sense of genuine childlike play. The mix of functional fitness and volleyball drills make me feel like I’m playing field day games back in middle school where everyone’s having a fun time and no one is too cool to play. It’s difficult to cultivate a culture that encourages friendly competition as well as the InSand team does. The environment in incredibly welcoming, making it almost impossible to embarrass yourself regardless of skill level. I still haven’t played a real game of volleyball but that has never made me feel out of place. First class you can expect coaches and classmates to remember your name, help you if you are struggling, and celebrate your wins.
That being said, it’s also no joke. I leave sweating and sore. But both times I have had a membership I came from a background of not working out at all so my fitness left a lot to be desired. Right off the bat I have noticed the coaches give the freedom and modifications to make sure that everyone is getting a good workout, but also listening to their bodies. All classes I have been to include members of all different ages, fitness levels, and sports histories. It really doesn’t matter where you are starting, they will make sure you get a workout that’s good for you right now, wherever you are at that day. The last time I went consistently I saw a change in my endurance, my strength, and my over all athleticism. I felt more confident in my body doing silly everyday things like running down stains or catching something when someone threw it to me across the room. If you are an adult who misses playing on a team or wants to play human fetch, try out the free class!

My 13 years old daughter started practicing with INSAND a few weeks ago. She has played indoor volleyball for 2 years, and has been interested in beach volleyball too.
She loves this program, so do I. They have everything that she needs to improve her volleyball skills. Their SANDFit program is really well made to increase players’ physical ability, not only getting your body fit . (Volleyball is one of the sports that takes A LOTS of physical abilities, agility, verticals, power, speed, stamina, etc)
She can get workout and beach volleyball skill practice all at one place.
All coaches are very friendly, and give her welcoming atmosphere. I’m glad that we have found INSAND!
