International Academy of Dance is home of the Santa Cruz City Ballet and provides many performing opportunities for dancers, including the annual Nutcracker at Cabrillo’s Crocker Theater and a large scale production in June.
Classical Ballet training is at the heart of our training curriculum, as well as expert classes in Jazz, Musical Theater, Lyrical, Hip-Hop & Tap . We encourage all dancers to become well versed in many styles so they are strong in any technique and ready for the choreographic challenges of today's blending styles. IAD dancers are empowered and versatile, strong and powerful -- on stage and off.
IAD provides professional training for dancers of all ages and abilities in a warm and encouraging atmosphere.

My daughter has been at International Academy of Dance for over 10 years now! This place is amazing and has really grown over the years. My daughter started there when she was 3 1/2 years old, and just started en pointe last year and is now 14 years old. We completely trust the teachers there to correctly teach new techniques while at the same time preventing injury. Especially when deciding when students should go en pointe. The staff is also very professional and organized and I have always felt completely confident with my daughter being back stage during performances, especially when she was little. You can try a trial class or classes for a week for a low price to see if it's a good fit. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

This has been such a good place for my daughter to Blossum and grow. She has been here for 3 and 1/2 years, and we can see here here for many more years to come! If you have a chance, come down for a lesson, it’s so much fun!!

I had the pleasure of attending IAD's performance of Oz. What a great show. The choreography and music were so well put together. The costumes and set design coupled with a new twist on the story, I would have to say made this my favorite rendition. Thank you all for such an awesome show right here in Santa Cruz.

I have experienced the professionalism at IAD first hand. I have taken class with Melissa Palumbo and she runs her class full of fun, first and foremost. She challenges her students with new choreography that wants you coming back to perform at your greatest potential!! Lana, the Manager, is great and super helpful too! The Nutcracker and Annual Production are a wonderful culmination of the hardwork and camaraderie that goes along with dancing at IAD! I recommend!

we have had such a wonderful experience with the ballet classes and productions at IAD. My six-year-old absolutely loves it. The teachers are amazing, patient, and very well-versed at what they do. The staff is incredibly accommodating, and it is a very positive and supportive learning environment. I highly recommend them for anyone at any level of dance!
