My thoughts/review for Invictus Fitness SD, Google, & the Facebook world 💚✨ To those who don’t like reading—long story short Invictus & those within the gym are amazing and go workout if you can! To those who like reading—enjoy:

Visited Invictus Fitness during my vacation & the vibes—PHENOMENAL. The coaches are insightful, caring, proactive, & consistent with how they distribute their attention to all athletes regardless of skill level during classes. Thank you to Kim, Aush, Nuno, Kisha, Fritz, Drew, & Holden for choosing to show up to coach because you literally could do the opposite, ya know?…It appears you all truly if not love, then enjoy what you do and that kind of radiation of energy is cherished among people like me who value as well as prefer to be submerged in environments where light, authenticity, & a sense of passion exists. Y’all live up to the “coaches invested in your success” portion mentioned on your page for sure. Keep it up!

Ethan and Virginia—Y’alls presence at the desk is beyond warm & welcoming. Thank you for exhibiting an ability to be attentive, selfless, & generous to all around you. Observing & experiencing y’all’s interactions made a significant difference in my desire to want to keep coming back to the gym. Never lose your spark because it’s lovely to encounter!

Thank you to the gym peeps for being a mix of funny, composed, driven, welcoming, & all around a good freaking time to not just workout with but chat with as well! Especially, Jill, Birthday queen on 11/23 Laura, the Rachel who coaches soccer, the Andrew from 6am, Sasha, the Rachel with a British accent, John, Perry, Cathy (I think you said with a K so sorry in advance), Stacia, the Andrew in Mental Health realm, Mallory, Collin, Cheyanne, Luis, the beautiful brown couple I met who workout at 9am, & the rest of the individuals names I cannot recall but our encounters will live on in my memory…and journal haahaa

My only 2, “What could be better?”, comments/questions are:

1) Is there a way to see the class workouts when visiting for us online athletes who do individualized programming? Not sure if that’s a thing already but figured I’d mention it.

2) Word on the street is there’s a debate between who is more handsome—Coach Nuno or Drew. My beloved & I agree it could be better if those debating finally recognized that hands down Coach Drew is the real pièce de résistance a.k.a. the more handsome of the two 🤌🏾 Don’t even see why there’s a debate bro 😉😂😆

In all seriousness, if anyone who doesn’t go is considering I highly recommend to get involved online, in-person, as a drop-in and so forth with this gym because they indeed live up to what they strive to be. Love it here & looking forward to returning in 3 months!

Been in many Crossfits in different countries, and Invictus San Diego is by far the best. Two very large floors with all the equipment you can dream of. Rags, bars, dumbells etc for everyone. Since a few weeks there is an additional „gym“ room with all necessary stations. We loved the coaches and staff, everyone has a ton of knowledge, but first and foremost they are all super nice people. Every single one is amazing, but Drew was such an amazing human being, taking care of our daughter while we were working out. It‘s a great place for kids to hang around while parents are working out - they have also a kids corner. Thanks everyone

Nuno was extremely helpful without being overly involved. I told him that I was not very good at doing split jerks and he gave me a few rounds to warm up and then came over and watched and corrected me and gave me good pointers to improve. He was very vigilant during the whole class, making sure everyone was doing things as best they could. He is very lighthearted and ensure that everyone understands the goal of the workout and how to achieve that. the members of the gym were not just welcoming, but hospitable and really cared about the state that they work out in and the people go there. I just love it here!!

Kim is always great, today's kudos was when I was working on an accessory exercise and one adjustment she made changed from feeling in my back which is a no no to feeling in my butt which was the target. She is always there for encouragement and preventing injuries.

After over 100 visits I guess I can leave a full review.
I was VERY intimidated to go to here (and later join) but all of the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Special shoutout to Ethan for answering my never ending questions. Another huge shoutout to Coach Fritz for making each training session a positive one, especially as a person who is hard on themselves. Fritz has an amazing ability of correcting errors in each lift (while in a class setting) and finding the best way for each individual to understand and correct it.. Truly an amazing individual!
Coach Drew and Kirsten are also fantastic people. Both are really high energy and bring the fun.
Very happy I finally overcame my fear and have a truly bad ass gym to learn from.

In town for vacation, so I decided to drop in (because it's Invictus and I love CrossFit). Everyone was super kind and friendly. I met 3 coaches within 10 minutes of walking in and all were extremely nice and seemed interested in me. Class was great (I knew it would be) but I also just felt really welcomed. I can be super shy in new situations but I didn't struggle with that because everyone was so welcoming. I loved it and wish I I could come every day!

I would rate all coaches 11/10 easily. I've been to many crossfits over the past 10 years of working out and its hard to explain the difference - coaches here actually watch and adjust your form even for high level athletes. Learned more in the past 3 months than I have in the past 5 years

Fritz is a fantastic coach. I work with him a lot and there is a reason for that. What Fritz does particularly well is find a balance between constructive criticism and praise. He identifies when I master one skill and then progresses to the next. This is particularly good for me since the Olympic lifts are challenging and there are many, many things to master to get them right….and when I do get one right, it is extremely satisfying. Fritz also always has a “grand plan” in place. I never worry about why I am doing something (he usually tells me anyway)…I have trust and confidence that HE knows…and that is the important part.

Invictus Fitness San Diego is an incredible gym. I LOVE going to this gym, and going to class is one of the highlights of my day. At first I was intimidated because I wasn’t really a lifter, and I had only done cross fit a couple times before. The first day was hard but so rewarding. Everyone in the class was so welcoming and encouraging, the coaches were knowledgeable and motivating, and it was everything I needed in a gym. Ever since I’ve been hooked, and it’s an essential part of my everyday work day routine. Invictus San Diego is one of the best parts of San Diego in my opinion. I love this place, and I will keep going for as long as possible.

Large space, but the layout could use some work. Its not a very cohesive flow, and you run into people getting/putting away equipment and it's not the best floorplan for large classes. It's awesome that they have a few different classes to choose from at the same times, and the coaches are welcoming and good at explaining the workouts. Didn't seem as friendly as other gyms I've been to as far as members.

Dedicated front desk staff, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable on the facility. We dropped in for open gym and trained in the same area as all the top competitors and they unbelievably welcoming and friendly. They didn’t have an ego about who they were and sharing their space. Speaking of space, the gym is massive. Fully stocked with everything you need and the bathroom was clean. If your dropping in or gym shopping, I highly recommend.

Side note, ran into the legend, CJ, himself and he introduced himself and was so down to earth. We even had a little chat about training and competition.

Bryce Smith has been my coach at Invictus for the past 6 years. In the time he has been my coach I have seen improvements in my performance, strength, endurance/cardiovascular capacity, and flexibility. He not only has a vast knowledge base concerning the sport of Crossfit and how to achieve your goals in that arena but also in a vast array of other sports. Whether it’s the sport of Crossfit, basketball, soccer, etc., just getting in shape for “pool season”, or even becoming successful as an elite SEAL and making it through BUDS, Bryce Smith has you covered. Not only will he focus on making you physically fit, but mentally fit/tough as well. Being mentally fit is something often overlooked in today’s society but the mind is a muscle that needs training too, and through practice and experience it can learn to become more resilient. My mental capacity to handle stress, anxiety, depression, and everyday life has grown significantly since going through Bryce’s unique and diverse training methods. And if you’re struggling with an injury Bryce knows exactly how to best adapt and work around those injuries to get you back to performing at your top level! I have never regretted my decision to come to Invictus and to be coached by Bryce Smith and I know you won’t either. So, the only question is, are you ready to accept the challenge of working on becoming a better, more resilient version of yourself with a coach that listens, is adaptable, and puts every effort and care you could wish for in a trainer? Then sign up with Bryce Smith! The journey of becoming a healthier, fitter, more resilient you is waiting right around the corner!

This review is coming from someone who has done crossfit for about 6-7 years & has coached about 4 years.

This gym is absolutely superb. The coaches know what they're talking about, can answer any questions with precision, & are awesome people. Kirsten's classes are super fun & Fritz's classes are always a good pump session (feels like you're working out with good friends.)

The price tag may deter certain people away but you don't get this level of coaching & environment without paying for it. Even if you're stepping into a box for the first time, this is a perfect way to get yourself to a high standard of movement while having a great experience.

I'm incredibly picky when it comes to choosing a crossfit gym, so I was very tedious with my research before I first joined. Fast forward a year later? Best decision I ever made.

Many years ago, while walking around in Little Italy in San Diego I came across a small warehouse building named CrossFit Invictus. As I peeked inside, I was immediately drawn by the high energy of this place. Members were rooting for each other as they performed barbell exercises, I was not accustomed to seeing in other gyms (Thrusters, Snatches, Cleans). There were no elliptical, smith machines or other standard equipment normally found in traditional gyms. Some of the members had amazing physiques as if they were playing a role in some superhero or action movie. After an amazing introduction by the front desk staff, I signed up.

Fast-forward to the present and after Invictus relocated to a bigger and better location, I’m still a proud member of this awesome gym and enjoying the fruits of a healthy and active lifestyle. With the help and expert guidance of the awesome Invictus coaches, I have learned so much invaluable information about nutrition, proper exercise form, recovery, and stress management. With 11% bodyfat on my body, and all my biomarkers within a normal range, I am the fittest I have ever been in my entire life. Yeah, I may never achieve the physique look of a superhero or action movie star, but I feel and perform like one.

Invictus is more than a gym, or a “Box” as the CrossFit community refers to it. This is a place of healing where fitness and nutrition coupled with excellence in workout programming, couching and awesome and friendly fellow members are the finest in the industry. I have visited other gyms in San Diego and around the country and I can honestly say that Invictus Fitness is a place where lives are transformed.

If you are struggling with your health, body composition, age-related muscular degeneration or simply want to revamp your fitness to a new level, I highly recommend Invictus Fitness. Joining Invictus Fitness has been a life changing experience for me and the only regret I have is not finding them sooner.

I have been with Invictus since 2018 and can say without questions that it is the best gym on the planet. Best coaches. Best community. Best vibe. I have had the privilege to work with many/most of the coaches in the SD facility. They are all at the very top of their field in training, experience and approach. The members (competitive athletes included) are some of the coolest, kindest welcoming people you would want to meet, which may come with the mindset of those who chose to become members. HIGHLY recommended.

Invictus is hands down one of the best crossfit gyms I have experienced, particularly in regards to the coaching and programming! I love the variety of classes they have but what really keeps me coming back is how engaging the coaches are! CrossFit Invictus is the best gym I have ever been a member of. Period. I have been the member of other “big box” gyms but could never stay consistent and motivated to go. Exercising on a treadmill and a few weight machines for 45 minutes by myself was boring. CrossFit Invictus workouts are group class formats that focus on constant variety, functional fitness, and high intensity. Having other members right next to me, working just as hard is so much more fun! Classes are led by awesome coaches who challenge and encourage you to reach your potential and health and fitness goals. They are some of the most knowledgeable and experienced coaches I have ever worked with. Way more high energy and challenging than a treadmill! The lifelong friends I have made and the great community that Invictus provides has made it very motivating to stay consistent for over 10 years now! I have accomplished my weight loss goals, strength goals, performance goals, and overall wellness goals! Until CrossFit Invictus I never knew I had the potential to feel this good and be as fit as I am today.

As a 55-year-old woman, I saw that my older friends/family were becoming more sedentary and could no longer perform activities that they enjoyed and even struggled with performing some of life’s tasks. I finally realized that if I wanted to be strong and sustain my quality of life, I needed to make changes and begin a fitness program ASAP. I had been going to a gym for over a year but only did the machines because I did not know how to use barbells and dumbbells etc.

I hired two different personal trainers and was not exposed to the basics I was hoping. I came home and told my husband that I just wanted a coach to teach me proper form so that I don't get injured and I want them to cheer me on! He looked at me and he said it sounds like you want to do CrossFit!

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever consider going to CrossFit. I've always thought CrossFit was for people that were already in shape, which I was not. My husband did his research and discovered the best CrossFit facility in San Diego…Crossfit Invictus.

We went to Invictus and spoke with the manager named Kim. I told her that I just wanted to get strong. She told me that she could tailor a plan unique to my age, fitness level and limitations. A couple days later she sent me a follow-up email again telling me that she could help me. I was thoroughly impressed with her enthusiasm and I figured “Why not? I committed to going for one month. I was so nervous but I started to work with Kim and I got 100 times more than I ever thought it I would get from Crossfit. Not only has Kim been teaching me proper form and how to do various exercises, but she has made working out FUN which is not how I ever thought I would view fitness! Her motivation and encouragement has supported me in achieving more than I ever thought that I could do.

It has been almost two months now and I absolutely love going to Invictus. I am feeling stonger every day. I cannot thank Kim and everyone at Crossfit Invictus for making such a positive impact on my life and supporting my fitness goals.

Name should be INVIDIOS!!! Master of Drivel and Captain of BS. Very unwelcoming fitness place. I wouldn't join if you paid me. Terrible and not worth it. It's a place in San Diego to stay away from. Bad vibes!! Save your time and money 💰 🤑 💸.

I’ve visited a lot of crossfit gyms in the past but this one by far has the best coaches! Clean, knowledgeable and professional staff is just a few of the perks, in addition to offering many different style classes to fit your needs no matter if you’re a beginner or competitor!

THE BEST GYM! Many coaches are elite level competitive athletes, others have decades of coaching experience. The community Invictus trains are amazingly kind and down-to-earth people, with no exception from the staff or management. If you want fitness and want the BEST, you found the right gym (or gyms, as they have three locations).

What a total scam. Stay away!!!!

Signed up, paid, and scheduled classes through their San Diego Crossfit website. Show up to their building, which says San Diego Crossfit in giant letters across the front, to be told, "oh, sorry, we changed our name to Invictus."

I couldn't take a class, didn't get my money back, and, if I wanted to sign up under their new business name, it's $70 more per month than quoted on their website.

If this is how they run their classes and their business God help the students!

I have had the pleasure of being a member of Invictus for almost 3 years. After visiting a couple other Crossfit gyms when I was looking to get started, they were the best option. Now, looking back at my decision, I can say it was the right one. I will likely be a member until my bones are dust.

Such a great group here. Although they are known for their world class athletes (literally) their classes are structured to be inclusive in every way. Coaches are upbeat and encouraging and they have the best Crossfit community with loads of activities and support. hen I moved to San Diego one of my stipulations in finding an apartment was that it be "walking distance" to Invictus.

Went here while visiting San Diego for the week. Tried both the downtown and Point Loma locations and they were both good. The box has a great reputation because of their ability to produce regional and games athletes; however, it did seem a little less compassionate and welcoming than other boxes that I visited while in San Diego. The programming was awesome; however, I felt that the box (at least the one downtown) had too many people and too many things going on. I was a little worried I was going to get hit, or hit someone with a barbell. I don't doubt the effectiveness of this box by any means, but it just didn't have the personal feel that other boxes have. Seemed very commercial and corporate driven with a focus more on being effective competitors. I would definitely come back for sure, but will probably hit up other boxes first.
