We feel very fortunate to have iRow to supplement my son’s training. Iva is an experienced athlete and coach. Excellent at guiding and motivating my teenager. Staff exceed our expectations communicating clearly, providing support for our scheduling needs, and more.

IRow fitness studio is the best rowing studio ever. Is clean, there is plenty of parking and their attention to detail is impeccable.
Both my sons improved tremendously under Iva supervision, she teaches technique, strategies and she has the erg experience that only a world champion like her can have. She is the best coach ever both on the erg and in the water.
My 3 children and myself take regularly classes with her on the water as well.

This is an excellent indoor and on the water rowing studio. Both my daughter and I started rowing with Iva 7 years ago. My daughter started when she was 12 and continued to row in college. Having been exposed to several coaches my daughter says Iva is an excellent coach, both in terms of teaching technique and in caring for the personal wellbeing of the athlete. I myself started rowing late in life and found Iva to be a very patient instructor who has made rowing an enjoyable part of my life. I highly recommend iRow fitness studio for both experienced and new rowers.

Working with Iva has been a great experience. She is very patient and thoughtful. She takes her time explaining not only the vocabulary of rowing but water safety and efficiency. I immediately felt very comfortable on the water and looked forward to every lesson. Starting with one on one lessons is a great way to quickly feel comfortable and capable. Iva is very good at explaining corrections you need to make while also giving encouragement about the progress you are making. Highly recommend trying rowing if you are looking for new ways to experience being on the water.

I have been taking sculling lessons with Iva at iRow, and I'm loving every moment. There is nothing like being out on the water, and Iva's patience and expert coaching are unparalleled. Learning to scull is a meditation in motion - you understand that rowing is about being in the moment. I highly recommend iRow!

I just took the intro beginner course and I’m so impressed by Iva’s coaching. The class was so welcoming and instructive. I’m very excited to continue with the classes as it’s not only a great workout, but great people as well!

A knowledgeable workout friend told me about Iva Boteva, a world-class athlete and coach, who is brilliant at transitioning erg rowers to scull rowers. She and her crew are experienced coaches with a huge wealth of knowledge. They teach the basics of boat mechanics, the finer points of technique, the importance of mindset. Coach Iva is insightful and encouraging. She makes the lessons engaging, with laughter, drills, challenges, and goals. She and her crew build confidence and skill on the water, and encourage improvement.

iRow is a small and spotlessly clean fitness studio, 100% dedicated to rowing. This is the place in LA for beginners to go in order to learn how to row. For experienced rowers, it's the place to go in order to improve.

iRow's owner and founder is Iva Boteva, a world renowned elite rower who won the CRASH-B world championship in 1998 (with a sub 6:38 2k). Being a world class athlete does not, of course, automatically make one a natural coach, but in Iva's case she is also an outstanding teacher - patient, encouraging and able to quickly identify and correct technical errors.

Although I have rowed on-and-off for sixteen years, I found that after just a couple of lessons with Iva, I was able to get better times at a stroke rate ~10% less than that at which I was rowing before. I find the pace I can hit at a low stroke rate almost unbelievable now in comparison with what I could do hitherto.

iRow instructors also teach on the water rowing at Marina del Rey.

Rowing is a tremendous sport which builds strength in all muscles, and massively improves cardiovascular fitness. It does not cause the stresses of other high-impact activities, so it is a very safe form of exercise, as well as being highly effective. NASA uses the same (Concept 2) machines as iRow to build endurance in their astronauts pre-flight, British actor Jason Statham uses a Concept 2 machine to stay in shape, and UK Formula 1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton uses this machine to get strong enough to handle racing (F1 drivers typically pull ~3.5G when cornering, and lose ~7 pounds in sweat during the course of a race).

iRow is conveniently and safely located in Culver City, and parking is plentiful and free.

If you really want to get fit, do it through rowing, and do it with the help of the friendly iRow studio.

Whether you're looking for help on the water or on the ergometer, there's no better private coach in L.A. Iva has worked with both our high school-aged daughter, and with my wife and I as we returned to rowing after a 20+ year hiatus. She is both technical and inspirational, offering both mind and body coaching and she's great at tailoring her style to the needs/level of the rower. Cannot recommend Iva and iRow enough!

I decided to get back into rowing after almost 40 years when I moved to Marina del Rey in 2020. I got in touch with Iva who turned out to be an incredible coach. She taught me how to use a single scull so quickly (I had previously rowed in a crew) and it has been a joy. Nick is also a great coach, and very empathetic. I highly recommend learning to row with these talented and lovely people.

At the start of the pandemic my partner Dave and I began indoor rowing on my Concept 2 rowing machine…then after a while Dave began rowing on the water with Iva as his coach. He convinced me to give it a try and, honestly, if it had been any other coach I never would have continued with sculling. iRow’s founder and rowing coach Iva gave me both the confidence and the desire to continue with lessons.
I have continued to row with Dave, being coached alongside of us by Iva in her trusty launch, or in a double with Coach Iva herself!
I have learned so much and enjoyed myself at the same time.
I know it’s good exercise, but it feels like fun.

My own experience is primarily with Iva's rowing lessons on the water at the Marina (I had one Erg lesson with her at the studio where she was just as skilled). She is a great instructor and able to teach anyone from complete beginners to experts (she rowed in the Olympics). I've been to rowing camps at Craftsbury, Calm Waters, and in Florida (USRA), plus used numerous other instructors at the Marina and in Long Beach, and I've not found anyone better than her. She has great technical skills but, more importantly, knows how to craft her instructions to your style of learning. My girlfriend is also taking lessons from her and has a different learning style and I've seen Iva adopt a different approach for her. Highly recommended!

Who knew i would become so enamored with rowing???? Iva infuses her passion and knowledge into each student. I hear her voice correcting me when i’m doing my own workouts at home. She is unmatched in her attention to detail and form. She simplifies complicated concepts that your brain can’t fathom when you’re struggling to breathe and makes you feel like you are designed for this workout. I always walk away from a session feeling like a winner and I get a killer workout too. I’m lucky I stumbled into her orbit. She’s made me a rowing lifer.

I have been taking group and individual indoor rowing classes with Iva since 2015. My experience has been superb in every respect. Iva’s passion and expertise make every session extremely rewarding. She is a gifted teacher who focuses on proper technique and building strength and endurance. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Iva is an extremely gifted instructor and you should definitely sign up for lessons in her studio, online, or on the water. She's attained great knowledge from her many years as an elite rower and communicates it very well at all levels of student ability .

I started with Iva back in 2013 as a complete novice with no experience . At the time I was a 60 year old injury-prone weekend warrior . A little research convinced me that rowing is one of the best all-round exercises there is so I bought a Concept 2 erg. Even after watching several on-line instructional videos I still felt I could seriously throw out my back without some personal guidance. From the first lesson Iva quickly sized up my ( lack of ) experience and physical abilities . Her emphasis is on teaching proper form and how to engage specific muscle groups to avoid injury . As an old ( ish ) rower that was my priority as well. But she also keeps it interesting by designing her workouts to improve power and endurance .

To top it all off Iva and her staff all have great personalities.
There's no ego or attitude no matter your experience or ability. Through the years I've been regularly attending individual lessons, group classes and Zoom classes and even after all these years Iva or any of her staff can still spot ways to improve my form and rid me of bad habits . Go see Iva !!!

I have been doing 2x weekly indoor rowing sessions with Iva, both on Zoom and at her studio, for 4 years now. As a former international rower and world indoor rowing record holder, Iva teaches rowing at a far more elevated level to group classes which I've attended elsewhere. Her focus is not only perfecting rowing technique, but also building strength and stamina through routines used to train competitive rowers.

There are classes for all levels, from beginner to experienced, and there is always something positive to gain from each class which are 1 hour long. Rowing is a great cardio exercise with a very low injury risk, compared to running for example, and I value these rowing classes as a very effective cardio addition to my other physical activities.

I highly recommend iRow Fitness Studios for those wanting to incorporate indoor rowing into their regular fitness regimen and receive the best instruction available.

I've been a sculler in a racing single for 2 years and decided I should learn how. I've see Iva at the Marina and finally too some lessons and I've been coached by her or her staff once a week for over a year. I am not an ideal rower i am 68 and short. I never did very well with coaching None of that bothered Iva. She is extraordinarily kind without expectations. The experience was a perfect "start where you are "experience. Iva has a way of coaching that encourages the acceptance of coaching. I am now a competent rower but have no plans to quit the lessons. Oh and I lost weight and gained muscle.

Her summer European tours are a must do. I went to Turkieye and had a amazing life changing experience.
see you at the beach.

Iva is the best rowing coach out there, and she has great coaches working for her as well! I've taken group lessons on the erg in her studio and private lessons on the water- and am so much the better rower for it.

I've had great experiences rowing with Iva, both on the water and in the studio. The studio classes great, small enough for individualized coaching and it's great to row along with others in the room. The on-water classes are also fantastic, I had never rowed on the water and she makes getting started very accessible. I'd absolutely recommend iRow, either indoors or out.

I have been taking sculling lessons w/ Iva weekly for over a year. After every lesson, my rowing improves. She is an excellent teacher. My daughter who lives and rows in New Zealand took a lesson w/ Iva when she was in town last and said it was the most helpful lesson she ever had. We are lucky to have Iva.
