Having previously held this gym and its former head coaches in very high regard, I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend this facility.

As a CrossFit athlete with seven years of experience across various gym environments, I considered this gym to be exemplary until recent management actions. The general manager, Fox, has made operational decisions that have led to the dismissal of coaching staff and the termination of memberships for individuals who expressed concerns regarding these changes.
For those seeking a gym that upholds high standards of coaching and the core values of CrossFit, I advise exploring alternative options.

Management of the gym has just dealt a death-blow to Island Grit; they dismissed the head coaches and have started imposing lifetime bans from the gym on any cross-fitters that have dared to speak-up. A major portion of the long-term community that has been there through the last 15 years and the turbulence of the last year have quit en-masse. There are still some wonderful trainers and crossfit friends here, but I can no longer support this box and the owner/management disregard of the community we had there.

I came yesterday for a CrossFit class. The facility is great (big jacuzzi in the locker room!) and the price was great at $20 for a day pass.

Unfortunately my experience with the CrossFit class wasn’t as positive.

I asked for clarification on a movement and the “coach” Nate barked at me that he didn’t have time to teach me. He def didn’t have time to show me where anything was either. But he did have time to do his own working out and be on his phone while “coaching” (yelling at) us. Super unfriendly and unwelcoming person.

The front desk staff was super nice so I feel bad giving two stars… but you know it’s bad when you have to say “do you want me to leave?” to the coach just because you’re new.

The workout here is really great. The staff are friendly and the members are too. That's a winning combination which contributes to a great workout! Feeling Good? Oh Yeah!
