The Trainer Who Keeps Me Coming Back
I've worked with a few trainers over the past 30 years, but Ray is truly exceptional. He is the only trainer who not only challenges me but also takes the time to stretch my body and work with my injury. He explained why stretching is an essential part of strength training, which has made a huge difference in my recovery journey.
Ray tailored my workouts to include rehab for my arm, customizing sessions to my needs. He is a true motivator—encouraging, knowledgeable, and resourceful. He provides valuable feedback on what I need to improve while keeping workouts both challenging and fun. I always stay motivated because he keeps things fresh with different types of exercises.

I’ve been working with Ray for two years now, and he has truly helped change my life. I have been working out with Ray Vargas as my trainer for the past 2 years. It has been a wonderful experience thus far and has benefitted me greatly in terms of not only improving my physical strength but also with my mental and emotional well being. Ray is extremely accommodative towards his clients' needs and is able to cater the workout sessions based on how the client is feeling. Recently, he was also kind enough to have my 5-yr old son workout with me in a joint session, which was really helpful!
Training with Ray has helped me understand how "getting fit" and "weight loss" are lifestyle decisions that require patience and perseverance but are not difficult to achieve ... and in fact the process can be a lot of fun if you find the right trainer like Ray.

Signing up with Ray was one of the best things I have ever done! Ray has helped me achieve my short-term goals so far and I love our sessions. He makes it fun and enjoyable to train and he is very motivating and encouraging! In addition to fitness, he also knows and share nutrition diet plan for having good health.
Ray responds to my specific needs. He has a lot of knowledge and makes me feel at ease regardless of my skill level. Ray is careful that I don’t get hurt and that is one of the most important issues for me. He adequately challenges me, makes working out enjoyable, and overall motivates you to exercise. None of that insecure feeling you get at a public gym. I would suggest him to everyone, regardless of their level of fitness.

Ray is an amazing trainer! I have had neck and shoulder pain for over a decade and after only a month of training with him twice a week, the pain is at least 80% better and continues to improve (something I haven't been able to achieve by going to chiropractors, physical therapists, etc. over the years). I didn't even go to him to rehab this area, but through his training you learn to strengthen all of your weaknesses :) Couldn't recommend him more!

Ray is hands down the best trainer in the bay. I started working out with him a few months ago after consulting a few trainers in the area, and so far every single workout has been killer. I'm a pretty active person and I've worked out consistently on my own (lifting, competitive breaking, basketball), but working with Ray has definitely helped me take everything to the next level. He definitely takes the time to get to know you and your goals and tapers the training program accordingly with a no-BS approach, and always gives you that extra push you need to get that last rep and maximize the output of your workout. He also pays close attention to form and provides live feedback so you can perform each exercise/lift safely and efficiently. In terms of the facility - the location is convenient and parking is always available. The gym is kept clean and properly sanitized, and provides a very welcoming atmosphere.
Don't sleep on Ray if you're in the area! Highly recommend booking a session with him.

Ray is the BEST! I hired him originally to help me prepare for my wedding day in November. He helped me achieve my goals in time for the big day! After the wedding I took a ~3 week hiatus from training and was unsure about going back since it wasn't part of the original plan. I just signed up for an additional 10 classes because my body was craving those workout drills - can't get a workout like I get with Ray anywhere else (Orangetheory, Barry's, etc just doesn't compare). If you're looking for a trainer who will help PUSH you until "failure" which I learned is a good thing, is responsive & reliable, is willing to take videos for you for the gram, and make each workout different/fun, look no further!

Like everyone else, you plan on going to the gym, then you walk around aimlessly to hit up some reps on various machines and free weights. But after a few sessions, you feel like nothing is happening and you don't end up pushing yourself. You feel good about going to the gym, but at the end of the day the results are just not there! Ray changed my perspective on how to get fit and how to pay attention to the diet as well. After 3 months, I felt very good and the data showed the results were positive! My core was much stronger! We focused on helping me improve and strengthen my golf swing too. Huge results. No joke. He understands each client's needs and customizes the training accordingly. It has been 9 months and I am feeling the most fit and strongest in my whole life! Looking forward to 2020 as we step it up! I would give Ray shot, you got nothing to lose!

Ray Vargas...let's just say if there was a fan club...I'd be president. I've never dreamed of having a personal trainer but I was in a slump and if I needed to pay someone to get me through it, then so be it. Ray came highly recommended from a friend who had great success and was always talking about how amazing he was. I committed to a 8 weeks, 2 times a week for an hour each. By commitment I mean, physically, emotionally and financially. After the first session...sore!! Second session...even more sore! It got better but eventually I craved to get that achy feeling. He taught me how to push myself, I did things I never thought I could. Do I love him? Yes! Did I hate him 2 times a week? Yes! But he motivated me and showed me how to believe in myself. I signed up for another 8 week program with him...am I crazy?! My last day with Ray was bitter sweet.
As you can see, I am a Ray-Fan. I love seeing all of his success. I tell everyone about him. He is a wonderful role model, he practices what he preaches, and he teaches you how to make those life changes where it's reasonable for you to continue. Ray is the real deal. You will get results!

Ray Vargas is hands down the best trainer around. Period. Ever. For reference, I consider myself to be generally active and fit. I've had other personal trainers in the past and have belonged to various gyms, including cross fit gyms. That being said, I have a pretty good basis on different types of workouts and different types of training. Ray's workouts still beat the rest, by far.
Ray's training is personalized. He tailors the workout to your goals and your needs. Most importantly, he's always there to guide you and ensure that you have good form. I've had some injuries in the past (from over use and most likely poor form from other gyms that pushed PR's over form). With Ray, I always feel safe in my workouts and that I am performing them correctly thus maximizing my results. His attentive care and continual encouragement has yet to fail me. With him, I've been able to safely redefine my so called limits, become stronger, and live a healthier life style.
I truly appreciate the time I spend training with Ray because I know I get more than a personal trainer. As a trainer, Ray is also your #1 fan and is biggest supporter of your personal health goals. When that little voice in your head tells you that you can't do another rep, Ray's bigger voice is there to tell you that you can.

My favorite is that the relationship doesn't stop and start when you walk in and out of the gym door. If you ever have any questions or need any advice he is there for you 24/7. I'm so glad I decided to jump start my healthy lifestyle with Ray. I went from being sedentary to learning to love weight training, running, hiking, and just being active. I saw results right away, lost about 20 lbs. in 6 months, and have kept it off with his meal and training guidance. What I like most about Ray's approach is that he inspires a lifestyle change. I sleep better, am happier, and have learned so much about nutrition and fitness. He was a pleasure to work with, even at 5:30 in the morning, and very flexible with my schedule. I'm sad that I had to end my program with Ray since I moved away, but am still dedicating myself to a healthy lifestyle due to the lessons I've learned with him. I highly recommend Ray!

Ray is by far the best trainer I've ever worked with. He is super KNOWLEDGEABLE, PROFESSIONAL, MOTIVATING, AND GENUINE. I couldn't ask for more from a trainer. I've been working with him for nearly two years now, and he always finds ways to change it up and give me a challenge. He gives you undivided attention during the full session to ensure proper form (eliminating injury) and pushing you to your personal best. He completely tailors his training, not only to you personally, but to you personally Each Session. By this I mean, he watches your movements to know which areas you are tight, or need more attention, and then chooses the correct exercise next to maximize your results. He watches your heart rate and aids you to adjust it accordingly to create the most efficient use of your time. He will do everything in his power possible to help you succeed. I would highly recommend him to anyone that truly wants to see results and work with someone with a great deal of professional integrity and character.

Ray Vargas is a one-of-a-kind personal trainer. He goes far beyond just getting you to work hard, but he personally invests himself and his focus into you. He truly cares about you and what your fitness goals are. He is directly motivational, but also to all of those who "follow" him. He continually strives to make you a better person just by his positivity. His encouragement to push yourself is just what is needed; this is mostly because he takes the time to understand what your overall fitness goals are and strives to help you attain those goals.

Ray is one of my absolute favorite people, and he is hands-down the best trainer around! He truly is an expert in his field, and he genuinely cares about the success of each of his clients; whatever your fitness goals are, Ray can help you achieve them. I always loved the variety that he brought to my workouts, and I appreciated his no non-sense approach when it came to doing what it takes (ahem -- food journals!). I miss training with Ray not only because of the results that I saw, but because I really enjoyed being around him. He is such a positive person, and while he was my trainer, I also felt like he was one of my biggest fans; his encouragement and support pushed me to do better both in and out of the gym. I moved nearly 30 miles away, but I would train again with Ray in a heartbeat if he ever opened up evening slots!

As an athlete who trained for his sport from age 4 through college, I've had my fair share of trainers. Some good, most not so much. ISOTONEX ranks among the very best I've had the pleasure of working with. I particularly like how Ray emphases functional strength and conditioning, both of which are critical components to healthy living no matter your age, gender, profession or hobby. And maybe even more important to me was that Ray listens. I was able to tell him my goals and my limits, and within that framework he structured a training plan that pushed me, was interesting and different every single workout, and always had me moving forward. I have been training with Ray Vargas for almost 5 years! Ray is deeply committed to the goals of his clients. He is professional always, incredibly knowledgeable and NEVER BORING! "The old routine" at the gym can get so tiring; the only "routine" Ray employs is the one where I get my butt kicked! His workouts never seem to get any easier... but I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been working with Ray for a couple of years and he's seen me through a few different phases in my fitness journey. From when I was starting out and just trying to get off the couch, to preparing for specific athletic goals, to now recovering from injury and surgery (which had nothing to do with him - I was able to hurt myself all on my own :-)). Ray is amazing! I have been working with him for about 8 months now. If you asked me 8 months ago where I thought I would be, I would have never been able to dream up where I've actually gotten. So far I have lost 25 pounds and the most amazing stats, gone from 34% body fat to 27.5% and counting. I am a lean mean machine now thanks to Ray's tireless motivation and of course my own hard work. He is an amazing person and cares so much about all of his clients and their goals. He never gives up, even when you want to give up on yourself. This last 8 months has been an incredible journey and through fitness I have been able to have the most amazing holistic experience addressing mind, body and spirit. Ray is one of the most amazing trainers, professionals, and persons I've ever met. I have been training with Ray for a few years now and I have learned so much from him. He thoroughly understands how the human body works, what kind of exercises will be the most effective for your needs, and most importantly (for me) makes exercise fun. Before I started training with Ray, all I knew about exercise is that 1) it scared me and 2) I didn't like it. But he makes the workouts both enjoyable and challenging at the same time. I've accomplished so much in my time with him. I feel my body is so much stronger and capable of doing exercises that would have had me scared before. I never thought I could be able to do half the things we do now. Before I trained with Ray, I didn't have the stamina to run one mile without stopping to gasp for air. Last year alone, I ran 6 races with two of them being 10K runs with ease!
What sets Ray apart from other trainers is his constant care and motivation. He isn't a generic trainer who does a workout with you for an hour and corrects your form. He isn't’ a drill sergeant, either. He’s someone who motivates and encourages you throughout your entire workout, teaches you different things about your body, listens to your needs, and is always the voice in your ear telling you keep pushing forward. I put 100% trust in him and I am so grateful I started this journey with him! I has truly changed me.
