Iyengar Santa Monica has been really great and life changing for me as someone who uses my body regularly in the work I do. The awareness of movement has been instrumental for me in recovering from performance-related injuries.

Iyengar is such a special style of yoga, and Scott is such a great teacher. He meets you where you are and makes gentle modifications to suit your needs. The studio is great, clean, no mirrors (because yoga is not a fashion or asana show) and has every prop one can possibly need.
Can't say enough great things about this place. If you're new to yoga this is an excellent place to start. If you have an injury, gentle or special needs class is great. If you're hard core, take level 2...there is something for everyone! Namaste folks, see you on the mat!

Beautiful studio with natural floors and rope wall. Excellent Iyengar teachers! I highly recommend this studio if you're looking for a holistic practice to support health needs. Love, love Iyengar yoga!

I will never come here again. I was here twice, but it was really the second time that really upset me because I brought my mom who has a lot of mobility issues and pain and can only do chair yoga so I took her to a special class that was advertised for people with MS and issues like that. when we got there Scott told us that she cannot participate in the class because this is specifically for MS patients and her issues are different. ???? I'm not sure what he based this on, and i felt sp bad bc I had dragged my poor mom out there. She even brought a folding chair of her own and we were turned away at the door.
The first time I was sorely unimpressed with the teaching for myself personally, I was having a lot of issues with the moves specifically with regards to the back, and I felt I was getting minimal to no support from instructor. i would NOT recommend coming here.
there are plenty of other beginner yoga classes with much more empathetic and helpful instructors .

In-Person Yoga in LA finally! So glad that this Westside Santa Monica yoga studio popped up since the closing of Yogaworks (they are online only). Few places have the discipline, props, and teacher that do Iyengar, even the Los Angels one (in BH) is stream only. To be able to use a rope wall with horses, backbender and all the props is awesome. To get away from all the distractions at home is even better.
I love what yoga does and so happy to have it in person because it is great to have suburb instructors correcting positions and postures,

I love this place! They are very welcoming, kind, and friendly. If you typically do Vinyasa, I recommend trying this out because it will really help your Vinyasa practice, they really take their time to show you how to get each pose right (for your body). If you’re a beginner, I think this is a great place to start

Taken Iyengar yoga classes for many yrs, & when moved to SaMo, 6 yrs. ago, glad was Iyengar Yoga Institute of LA. Unfortunately, they left brick & mortar studio during Covid, & Zoom classes don’t work for me.
SaMo Iyengar Yoga Ctr. recently opened beautiful studio & best yet? Excellent experienced teachers, Convenient location, lots of parking, cost very reasonable, & if have a frozen shoulder, arthritis, whatever--teachers accommodate, so accessible to all.
