This yoga studio provides the best Iyengar yoga instruction I have found. I’ve taken classes consistently for over 7 years, and find something in each class that is new and insightful. The teachings in these asanas make me feel fresh and so alive. When I am unable to do an asana, the teachers have many creative alternatives that allow me to keep going in a positive direction. I consider my yoga classes here and essential part of my life and well being. Thank you Iyengar Yoga Source!

Iyengar yoga studio is one of my favorite in this area. My favorite instructors are Lisa and Bonnie! I learn new things every time I attend their classes. Of course Carolyn, the yoga owner is wonderful as well. I am truly grateful to have found this place that brings me so much peace. Thank you! :)

I highly recommend Iyengar Yoga Source for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice. Iyengar yoga teachers train for a minimum of 3 years before they are certified to teach. This rigorous training means that teachers are able to adapt the practice in ways that other methods are not able to and has allowed me to continue practicing while healing from injury.

Finally found a yoga studio that isn't that corporate same routine boring yoga with heat.
THe yoga instructors are hands on and you will never get hurt. I have knee issues and the instructor always has me modify the poses so I do not aggravate my knee.
The studio is full of fresh air and light. A must try
And i love all the support your body gets with the props offered and suggested.

I have never in my life experienced such horrible customer service from a yoga studio. I called today at 9:45am to check about monthly memberships, she went on to tell me they aren't a gym and said it's all on their website. Ego was next level. I said "it's all on your website? Okay take care." And then she proceeded to hang up on me. I was kind the entire time. You do not want these people teaching you yoga or spirituality. Avoid the energy here. They just lost my business indefinitely. Yikes!

Iyengar source is a school that teaches Iyengar yoga and the principals of alignment. It is great for any age but as a senior I love it. Plenty of props so everyone an do each pose. Poses are held for a long time. The teachers are well trained. There are pause in the classes while the teacher demonstrates and explains the pose. The teachers do correct you which I love. There is always a wide diversity of students in the classes. Iyengar yoga is not for people who like face paced yoga, it is not for people who do not like being corrected, to me it is a very special type of yoga. I go mostly to Carolyn's classes, but I love Bonnie and Lisa too.

I feel racism and Carolyn (the owner) kept bullying me the whole time of class. I practiced yoga for years but new to Iyengar Yoga. The schedules are limited to a working mom, and I happened to sign up the level II class whose instructor is the owner. I reacted a little bit slowly because I am new to some poses but she asked me if I can speak English in front of everyone (she said “hey I am talking to you, do you understand English?). I got my B.S. and M.S. at UCSD and how could I not understand English? She asked me if I have experienced with any Yoga before. I said I went to YogaSix and CorePower Yoga in the past. She is like “okay those are not real Yoga, so you are not familiar with Yoga poses”. Alright…Very arrogant and disrespectful. She didn’t show the poses herself, instead she lead me to read a book with the picture. She kept talking and talking “if you know this pose and that pose”. But when I asked which pose, she stoped and turned to me say “could you have patience when I am turning the page?” What??? I didn’t say anything the entire whole time and only SHE is non-stop talking. Could you be patient when I don’t understand the poses you are talking about? Yoga should be peaceful and calm, but practicing with her giving me emotional hurt and unconfident. As for the Level I classes, I attended for two weeks and to be honest, we kept practicing warriors poses/standing poses the whole time, and I don't feel improvement in my body. I rarely leave comments but I really don’t recommended this place for yoga.

Iyengar yoga is a traditional yoga gifted to the world from a guru who spent his life sharing it. Carolyn Belko and her well trained staff embody the teachings. I have travelled many places and studied with many Iyengar teachers. Carolyn ranks among the best. She is firm yet compassionate. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Guruji but, as I humbly understand, he was too. If you haven’t studied Iyengar yoga start with an introduction as it is unlike any other form of yoga and will require a progression. Then you can see if it resonates with you. If so, may the fruit of the study bless you as it has me. Namaste 🙏

This studio has been operating for 20 years and focuses on classical yoga. I have trained here as an Iyengar yoga teacher with Carolyn Belko after several other 200 hr. yoga teacher training experiences. This has been the most directive, comprehensive and rewarding teacher training experience I have had. As a result I have learned so much more about my own yoga practice and my body which also teaches me to be a better teacher.

I'm so thankful I found Carolyn Belko and her most amazing Iyengar Yoga Source studio! Since practicing here under Carolyn and her very well trained and wonderful instructors, my spine has never felt better. I came back from one of Carolyn's retreats feeling a half inch taller and feeling a sense of peace, joy, and well being that I'll continue feeding at this yoga center. The prices are very reasonable and everyone is so nice. You must give it a try as your body and mind will thank you.

I've been an athlete and weightlifter my whole life and was introduced to Iyengar Yoga at the end of May 2023. Since I was introduced, I've switched over completely from weightlifting to only doing Iyengar Yoga.

This practice has been so beneficial for my mind, body, and spirit. My body is opening up in ways it never has and I feel light, pain free, and more relaxed each time I go to class.

The instructors are all amazing. They don't want to just run you through of bunch of poses and call it a day. They aim to actually teach you what you're doing, why you're doing, and HOW to actually progress with each asana so that your mind, body, and spirit receive the benefit of the pose. I'm super grateful for this center and all of the instructors, especially Carolyn, the owner. If you haven't tried Iyengar Yoga, I highly recommend you go to a class!

This is a hidden gem in San Diego. I love this place! They are teaching the authentic Iyengar yoga. It’s different experience from the other commercial American yoga centers. Teachers are so kind, well educated and aware. They guide us through the class to practice physically and mentally to expand our awareness and keep the connection between the body and the mind. I feel better after each experience here. The practice room is all natural space where windows are open and walls and floor are oak wood. The classes are affordable as the center is not for profit. The drop off is $20 per class ( one and half hour) but if you purchase a bundle, it will be cheaper. This is my happy place. I always come here on Sunday when I have a stressful week and I feel the calmness after the class.

This is a very high quality yoga center, with excellent instructors who are equipped to adapt the practice to a variety of bodily abilities and disabilities. As a relatively new person to Iyengar, I appreciate the method’s careful instruction and sequential approach. I also appreciate the method’s spiritual grounding and the integrity of its lineage within Hinduism. It feels great on so many levels to practice yoga here.

Editing my post after two years of regular practice: this place will transform you. I've gained real strength in my core, in my upper body, in my feet. My balance and posture are better than I could have ever imagined before. My mind and body are calmer. Carolyn, Bonnie, Joanna, Courtney, and all their teachers are excellent. If I could give more than five stars I would.

Carolyn is an extremely knowledgeable teacher at all levels. Some teachers like to promote themselves as capable for teaching at advanced levels but aren't qualified. Not the case with Carolyn and that is why I have studied with her for over 15 years. At the same time, she knows how to teach appropriately and compassionately to the absolute beginner. If you want to learn how to practice yoga mindfully and skillfully, this is the center because all of her teachers are qualified and caring.

I come from LA every month to study here! The quality of instruction and precision here is incomparable to anywhere else that I've been. They have a yoga therapeutics class (which is by appointment only) which gives you a personalized sequence and care overlooked by one of the highest certified teachers in Southern California. They hold classes from new to advanced, so there is a fit for everyone!!
If you are unsure which class level to start with you can email them directly- they are very quick in responding- [email protected]

The first time I went there I accidentally went to a class that was for level 2. The calendar said it was for level 1-2, but apparently no one updated the calendar and no one answers the phone there. So the teacher scolded me for coming to that class. Great first start. My husband swore by this school though so I kept trying.

We found a class for level 1 that was on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we went this this class for about a year. The first several classes I felt like I was stretching, but then after that I barely felt anything. They still wanted me to be on blocks and I felt like I was not advancing at all. Apparently you aren’t supposed to attempt downward facing dog for like 2 years. Finally they told me I could attempt a headstand, but I told them I was worried because I had neck issues. They told me to try it anyways. I did and I couldn’t hold the position because I was in so much pain. I got out of the position and the teacher told me that I always must me stretching while in her class so she put me in another position. I was in tears at the end of the class and could barely move my neck for two days. I only went back once after that after I had paid for the rest of the month.

Maybe I should have stood up to the teacher more because I always felt like she had it out for me. I had always tried hard and she kinda always made fun of me. For example I stopped to drink some water and she stopped the class to tell everyone that I shouldn’t drink while practicing then lectured for awhile about it. This was two years ago and I still feel emotionally hurt enough by it that I had to leave a review. Maybe there are other teachers here that are better, but honestly what yoga studio says that downward facing down is more advanced than a headstand?

Not a place I would recommend for beginners. Or anyone with low self esteem who can’t take bullying.

Iyengar style yoga is not for everyone, but for those who want to learn and practice this method, Carolyn is a premier teacher. Her knowledge of the practice and her dedication to and insight into individual students is breathtaking. We are visitors from Philadelphia, and this is our third year visiting the studio. While most of the students are well acquainted with each other, we have felt warmly welcomed. This is a rare gem of a place and those lucky enough to live or be visiting nearby should count themselves lucky.
