Do not believe the offer a friend get a month free deal. They don’t honor it. Waste of my time trying to talk to someone about it. They said a manager would call me and never did. Have talked to staff and no solution. Machines have to be cleaned by members and child care is risky. I brought my toddler a few times and now refuses to enter.

I have gave this place on one side cuz my I took my little 12 year old sister to go swimming and then they that there was an old lady in the pools that I got mad cuz she was like my sister so I was like hey you need to stop and then she was like I'm not doing anything so then I said okay if you are and you hear anything what are you doing right now and then the girl did not want to get her head and stuff with so then I was like okay she doesn't want to get her head and stuff like that but why is she here she's in the pool and where the little kids are supposed to be and she was in love but please for that girl you were not in the lights girl you were not in the last place you and the little kid area that was really deep if you want to go on that side of me then let's go because I'm not going to have to freaking deal with this with you going with my sister s

I’ve been a nationwide member and never had an issue with any clubs until I came here. Day 2 of visiting I was approached on my way out of the gym and told that if I want to use the Facility a 3rd day I would need to transfer my membership to this location regardless of me not living here because then I’d be using there facility for free. Fast forward months later I went to work out and again at this location and I was approached and told couldn’t continue my workout in the weight l room because I was wearing crocs. Today after months of not visiting yet again i stopped by and was held up for 10 minutes in the front and had to sign a bunch of waivers before they let me in. Mind you nothing has changed with my membership and I worked out at the mission valley location yesterday everything was fine and was let in right away but here they claim it’s a “new policy” ?
It’s really always something with the staffing here and I don’t anticipate on returning after this.

The gym and equipment are well kept however I've had problems with their swim and pool section for over a year. Many other families feel the same way. We will be taking are business else where. Don't even waste your time signing your kids up for their swim lessons. Management is terrible. I'll also be contacting the regional YMCA about this.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Jackie Robinson’s YMCA Spring Camp 2025. As a mother of an autistic child, I signed my son up for this camp under the impression that it would be an inclusive and accommodating environment. At no point before paying tuition was I informed that the staff lacked the proper resources or training to support his needs.

On just the second day, I was called while at work and told to pick up my son, as they could not properly accommodate him and his needs. I was assured that I would receive an email from the site director regarding a refund, but that email never came. I followed up myself and still have yet to receive any response.

I commend them for taking accountability but the lack of communication is beyond frustrating. Had I been given the full picture beforehand, I would have never enrolled my son. The YMCA failed both of us, and I would not recommend this program to any parent, especially those with children who require additional support.

They are amazing! We have been stuck at home with flood damages and horrible mold smells when my apartments were not able to provide us with shelter but everyone else that was in the flood got hotel rooms and whatever reason they have we didnt get one … YMCA , they were able to provide us with a hotel and other resources. When i gave up they came to me like an angel 💜 our family really appreciate’s everything they are doing for us !

The lady on the weekend stole $100 from me and never signed up my son for the sport he was excited to start playing. She said I couldn’t pay card because the other lady that does the card payments wasn’t there until Monday. Of course, I didn’t have time for all that due to work, so I was then told I can pay in cash which I did there and then. This was when I went months ago (November) and they said he starts on January. Bummer but at least he’s got that to look forward to.. Then I noticed with time that I never received an email with confirmation like she said I would, and when January comes & I called to ask when he starts, they told me he wasn’t even on the list! Total disappointment. I remembered she gave me a paper and I saved it in my car, but when I found it and unfolded it, I realized that it was JUST A FLYER. She made me believe I would get confirmation on my email which I never did & I don’t have proof I even paid it. Not unless they go through the cameras, but they ain’t trying to do all that.
This is a warning that there is a thief working here on weekends, DONT GO HERE, try a different place for sure.

Spectacular state of the art facility with as many machines, weights, and classes as you could possibly need. The facility was very well maintained and the young man at the front desk was courteous toward us visiting from out of town. Our YMCA membership was easily found and accepted...we are thankful for the great customer service he provided. Highly recommend this YMCA if in San Diego!

Worst customer service ever. They have an issue that they need to close the pool for around 2 weeks. I only pay my membership for my kids using the pool but we have to stop using that because of their issue. I asked to extend or refund my membership for those 2 weeks. Then they said they cannot do that. That meant I lost money for my 2 weeks family membership. It's so stupid, doesn't make sense to me. Why they could do that . I paid my membership for a month but can use only half month. Super stupid customer service. No more membership here.....

Customer service is straight garbage. Their supposed to have knowledge of their own policies and procedures. They change a part of my account without proper authorization. Gave a different price than was told. Charged for the wrong price and process for refund is longer than any standard company. YMCA cost more than all other big name gyms but they had behind the 501(c)3 "non-profit". They are worse than big name gyms.

the gym itself is fine, the staff/customer service was not. my mom got a family membership to add me and my grandma onto it (we all live in the same house hold) and they told us they couldn’t add us to the system until the end of the month. we waited and were told we needed a manager to process it and get us ID cards. every time i asked for a manager she was either not there or busy. after 2 weeks of waiting my mom goes to ask when she will be available and they tell her we actually can’t be added to a family membership because i’m over 18 and we don’t all have the same last name. yes i have a different last name because my mom is remarried…which is not any of their business. then they started adding all of these extra fees if we wanted to still all get a membership. AND, they lost all of the paperwork we had filled out and had my mom do it again. what a complete waste of time, if they had said this in the beginning i would have just stayed at my old gym and not waste 2 weeks and multiple trips up there to be given the wrong information by multiple people.

During our workout session today, there was an individual that yelled out “n****rs”. Staff didn’t do anything to address it despite standing right next to the individual. My black fiancé was upset and stepped in to call out the inappropriate language. Nothing else came of it.

This is supposed to be an inclusive family facility, and although we really enjoyed coming here and appreciate the Y it is the responsibility of the attending staff to shut that down and address it.

UNSAFE for Minors
Staff does NOT supervise teens at this gym. I just witnessed a staff member not correcting 5-6 teenage boys dangerous gym antics. While using the bench press, the boys were letting one another drop 135lbs directly onto their chests and watch while they struggle to remove it.
The boy standing in as a spotter, "Jayden" pretended to spot the weight initially....Then he would cruelly let the lifter drop the weight onto his chest as if it were a joke.
Jayden did this 3 separate times while staff looked on. Since the staff member didn't correct this dangerous behavior I felt compelled to talk to them. I tried to explain to the young men how to spot each other correctly. That letting someone drop 135lbs on to your chest isn't a joke.
I was met with snide comments and disrespect.
I walked away only to witness "Jayden" do the same thing again.

I shouldn't have had to step up and try to correct this wild and unsafe behavior. A young staff member was only feet away watching them.
She seemed too busy laughing at the event while talking with another gym member.
I eventually just left because I could keep watching these young men acting recklessly without supervision.
On my way out, I informed management of what was going on.
The manager was polite and receptive.
However, this is the 3rd time I am seeing this type of behavior at this YMCA.
This facility should have mandatory classes regarding their equipment and safe practices. Those safe practices have to be enforced to keep gym goers SAFE.
I only write this to get a change that has been long needed at this facility.

Left the Y a few months ago, due to life circumstances. Tried to go back, but found out we have to pay to re enroll, turn in more paperwork in than when you by a house. The prices are off theroof, more than GYM memberships. The one reason we dont like GyMs is for their prices and awful service, but the Y, just got the same.

Very nice aesthetic place, small weight room but a lot, a lot, cardio machines... the reason why I’m giving one star is because of the child watch staff. Not friendly at all, they look like they are being forced to work there, not even a “have a good rest of your day” ....they don’t interact with the kids, which they should because is also a child development building. Kids are not separated by age, from infants to older kids, they all together in one large room which it could be dangerous for a toddler/infant. Please improve your child watch staff, give them some child development classes and also customer service courses. Lastly, in the last class include your front desk girls too.

Love this place! Weight area is a bit smaller compared to the local gyms, but I like that because it ensures the gym area doesn't get super busy all day like 24 hour fitness. Facilities are super clean, large soccer field and baseball field. Tons of treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals.

This new facility is AMAZING! it literally smells like a new car. The staff is attentive and really cares. I use them mostly for the camps while my girl is on break from school and they really take care of the kids. I am not a true "helicopter Mom" but I trust them with my precious little girl. The exercise equipment is 5 star and the drinking water is so clean and refreshing.

The New Jackie YMCA is the best! The staff is friendly and the upgrades and equipment is new and improved. I like to use the gym in the morning and it's never crowded. My son also plays youth soccer and the sports fields are beautiful. I would highly recommend this YMCA to my family and friends. Check it out for yourself you won't be disappointed.
