I have worked with JJ for over 3 years, and he is an excellent personal trainer. Because of JJ, I was able to stay active and maintain my fitness level even with a demanding work schedule. Working with JJ was easy. He is professional, kind and very knowledgeable about fitness and the human body. He was communicative and would do his best to accommodate changing schedules so that we could consistently have sessions together (including doing virtual sessions).
JJ understood my fitness targets—even as they changed across time—and would prep in advance for each session with incremental tracked exercises that are tailored for my specific fitness goal. I would highly recommend JJ as a personal trainer!

JJ is everything I was looking for in a trainer and more! As a runner who was constantly getting injured and lacked a consistent strength program, I started working with JJ to get stronger and support the activities I love. JJ is hands down the best trainer. I have loved working with him. He not only helps you get fit, but he takes the time to understand your goals and tailor your program to meet them. JJ helped me train for my wedding and then transitioned to help me with training safely while pregnant to have a healthy and quick delivery. I also love having the flexibility to train both in person or virtually. He is able to work seamlessly with both formats. It is obvious to me JJ cares deeply about each of his clients and is invested in making their fitness journey easy, fun, and successful.

I've been working since JJ since 2018 and I could not recommend him enough. After one session with JJ, I was hooked! He went into great detail asking about my fitness history, lifestyle, restrictions and goals followed by an assessment to gauge my current level. During that first session, he was already starting to educate me with new tips and tricks.
From there, he created an all encompassing plan for me: nutrition, mobility & tissue work and strength. He listens and thoughtfully explains when I have questions, modifies when needed due to injury and is a constant stream of support and encouragement. He brings great energy and excitement, which is exactly what I need to motivate me and keep me pushing.
After two just two weeks working with JJ, the feedback from those around me confirmed the results that I was starting to see and feel.
Since 2018, JJ has seen me through multiple surgeries, job and lifestyle changes, the transition to working from home and then hybrid, and now a transition across the country to complete remote work in a different time zone. But none of those will stop me from continuing to work with JJ. It may be at a different cadence and all virtual, but I'm certain that he will continue to meet me where I am and help me in my goals and challenges.

I graduated college in May 2018, leaving behind a familiar schedule and structured workout routine provided by football. With those changes came uncertainty around how to approach workouts, fitness, and health in general as I moved into the working world.
I was introduced to JJ through a friend who was in a similar situation to me and had nothing but positive things to say about JJ - so he set me up with an introduction. Our first meeting was used to get to know each other, go through JJ's (impressive and extensive) background, discuss my changing fitness / health goals, and address any past injuries or aches. The next meeting was an hour-long assessment during which JJ noted various specs about my physical make-up, current fitness / flexibility status, and further discussion on narrowing goals and thoughts on a training plan and nutritional guidance. Over the next two sessions we went over, in depth, the detailed program tailored to my goals. An impressive and crucial factor that JJ brings is his abounding knowledge of the human body, its movements, connections, and structure, and how each aspect can or should be strengthened or worked on to improve the individual's well-being -- JJ was sure to go into great detail, per my request, on the rationale behind every movement and how it was helping me achieve my goals.
Given my history with workout regiments, I wanted to talk through and set up a workout routine that would help me achieve my goals without requiring me to train / workout with a personal trainer every time I wanted to work out... That is exactly what I got. JJ was extremely accommodating to my preferences and worked diligently and thoughtfully to produce what has been a fantastic routine. He has consistently checked in on how everything is going and is very responsive if I have any questions.
JJ also happens to be a fantastic individual who is consistently full of energy and positivity. He deserves every star awarded on this and is more than worthy of my high recommendation.

JJ will help you build a holistic fitness and nutrition plan that aligns to your goals and offers options within your budget. A few years ago I wrote a review singing the praises of JJ Jordan, a personal trainer at Equinox Pine Street. I feel it’s time to update that review by saying that, somehow, JJ has grown EVEN STRONGER over the years. And he's done so while incorporating remote training into his practice for clients who prefer that.
When I met him, he had an astounding wealth of knowledge on exercise and nutrition, but since then he’s significantly ADDED to it, making him what has to be one of the most well-rounded fitness experts in the city. But most importantly, JJ is able to connect with clients on a personal level, helping them through the highs and lows of the process... not just over the first few months, but over the years. He knows when to push, when to encourage, and when to help you see the forest through the trees. You should make a good decision for your life and sign up for personal training with JJ.

JJ's been my trainer for years now, and I can't imagine life without him. Whether working with him to get lean or to make sure I can be in good shape for year-round sports, he is phenomenal. He makes sure each session delivers exactly what I want and need. And he does it in a way that keeps me coming back week after week. Having worked with him both in the gym and virtually, I can say both have been terrific. And he was great at doing join sessions with my spouse and me starting in 2020. Thank you, JJ!!

When I first started training with JJ, I wasn't sure that I wanted to work with a trainer, mainly because I am pretty good about working out on my own. I gave it a try, just to see if it worked out, and because I knew I was neglecting strength training. I ended up working with JJ for five truly excellent years.
I initially told him what I was looking for, short term and long term, and he developed a workout plan that fit the goals I set for both. He not only designed the plan to keep things interesting (I actually used all the machines in the gym during our time together), but he is knowledgeable about the different muscle groups, and what exercises are most beneficial for each. We worked together to increase my strength (weights and the aforementioned use of all the machines) and improve cardio. He was equally good at training me at my healthiest as he was when I suffered a running injury.
Just as important as the workout is the interaction you have with a trainer (in my opinion). JJ is incredibly kind, and so easy to get along with. He has excellent communication skills and is always focused on our session when we meet. In all our time working together, I did not have a single complaint about him. The strongest argument I have in his favor is that I didn't even want to train with a trainer in the first place, and after a few sessions, I knew I would want to continue with him for a long time. If you are looking for a trainer who will make you work hard, but make the hour go by so quickly you'll barely notice, then I would highly recommend JJ!

This review is for my trainer, JJ, who I am so grateful to have found. Not only was he dedicated to my progress and creating dynamic workouts for me, but he is incredibly knowledgeable about the body and educated me on form, nutrition, and the best way to accomplish my goals. I appreciated his thoroughness around injury prevention, always making sure to stretch and warm up properly. When we first started working together, I was having hip mobility issues and JJ insisted I see a sports chiropractor (I don't trust chiropractors) and I ended up continuing to see him regularly even after regaining my hip mobility and strength because he is truly the best in SF (Dr. B - ask JJ to refer you).
JJ has a gentle way of motivating and challenging you, not letting you get away with anything, while still being supportive and light-hearted. I would not have bought another package of sessions had it not been for JJ because I enjoyed working with him so much. He's also just a wonderful, genuine person and really became a personal friend. I know I can always count on him to be real with me and have my best interest at heart. I couldn't recommend him more!

Jonathan Jordan ("JJ") is an excellent and professional personal trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable about body mechanics and anatomy and tailors your workout to meet your goals.
I've recently started cycling, and he was able to focus on targeting and strengthening those muscles to help me improve my balance and cycle better with great results. He also made a few really helpful suggestions about nutrition. He is easy to communicate with and works with your schedule.
JJ is very aware of correct alignment, posture and breathing during the exercises - making sure that everything is done correctly and safely. He motivated me to work hard to achieve my weight loss goal this year. I originally signed up for a 10-session package, but have continued for almost 3 months and plan to stay with him!
I highly recommend JJ as a personal trainer - he is great!

JJ is a fantastic trainer, both in person and virtually! I’ve worked with JJ for over 4 years in person and virtually, and he continuously pushes me to improve my posture, mobility, and overall body strength. JJ makes sure to work with me and understand my current goals and keeps me on track to meet these goals. JJ made me feel comfortable with exercises that I thought I could never do. JJ has an immense knowledge about exercises and the human body and always brings a positive attitude to the gym.
Additionally, JJ is also one of the best massage therapists that I have come across. He works with you to make sure he knows what is going on with your body and leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed. His studio is conveniently located and helps you escape the fast pace of the city.
JJ motivated me to continue to push myself to train harder and become stronger!
