Joy of Movement in Aptos is a fantastic studio! My first ever Pilates class was wonderful—the space is charming with great lighting and decor. Rochelle was so attentive, guiding me step-by-step and making sure I understood every move. Her positive energy lit up the whole room. This studio is perfect for beginners and experienced Pilates enthusiasts alike. Plus, the reformers and equipment are top-notch quality.

I’ve been coming to Joy of movement for 4 years now. I love the studio and classes! Rochelle stays up to date on Pilates education and demonstrates multiple ways of rehabbing, strengthening and conditioning for functioning living movement. I have been able to consistently workout through injuries and profound grief. As well as, now having the strongest core strength I’ve had in years! The addition of Gyrotonic classes has been the icing on the cake. Getting to move through full range of motion under weighed tension is a game changer. Rochelle puts her heart and soul into this studio and it shows! Great studio community to be a part of for maintaining mental, and physical health.

The studio is an inviting space, clean, and outfitted with the finest Pilates and gyrotonics equipment. Rochelle is a real gift as an Instructor. She has exceptional knowledge of human anatomy and appropriate strategies to deal with each individual’s physical and emotional needs. She is highly skilled in Pilates, Gyrotonics, and therapeutic massage. I can’t say enough about how she has helped me over the last several years deal with my aging 77year old body!

We’ve been working with Rochelle for 3+ years, doing Pilates and Gyrotonics weekly, in a duet. Rochelle is a great teacher and has an extensive knowledge of the body and how it works. She is always changing the exercises we do, and is very sensitive to our individual quirks. Working with her gives a good foundation for flexibility and health. The studio is very pleasant, and the new Gyro machines are great!

Have you been putting off trying Pilates? Well it’s time to focus on getting stronger, improving your core strength and flexibility! Rochelle is a great instructor, always making the classes fun and exciting. Not the same routine every week. I have been going to Joy of Movement now for a while and can’t believe how much better my balance and core strength has improved. I have now started a Gyrotonic class to stretch those muscles…feels like a massage. Give it a try. Come have fun.. bring a friend..

I’ve been taking Pilates reformer classes from Rochelle since she took over at Joy of Movement. I like her classes because she has a fantastic way of adapting each exercise for everyone who may have issues with different parts of their bodies. She also adapts the weight loads of the springs for those with differing ability levels. I’d recommend her class to anyone looking for a great strength training, posture adjusting, and core workout.

Joy of Movement Pilates studio is AMAZING! Rochelle, the owner, is truly an incredibly skilled, caring and overall body knowledgable person whose focus on helping people is a specialized skill that is hard to find! She is such a joyful person, my husband and I go weekly and have loved our progress and overall experience with Pilates and Gyrotonics. Fabulous clean, cute studio with great equipment and a great instructor/owner.

I love the joy of movement studio!
I tried so many different things to move my body and haven’t managed to stick with anything in the past.
It took me literally 49 years to find Pilates.
I started last year in August and I just celebrated my first year of enjoying movement with Rochelle. I love it.
She is a great teacher, groups are small, light atmosphere and lots of laughter as you are talking care of your body.

I started going here for reformer within the last year. I have recently started including the gyrotronics classes. It’s a great complement to another Pilates class or any heavy workout. It helps open up your body rather than compressing it. It feels great and Rochelle is amazing at helping you cue into your body. I have found areas that I am weaker and need to strengthen one side. My husband just started coming with me and he has never done anything like this and he loves how much it helps him open up his joints and muscles. I highly recommend these classes as a focus or a compliment to your other workouts.

Rochelle is an amazing Pilates instructor who mixes it up every class with different tools of the trade (exercise balls, bands, etc.)

Rochelle is one of the best Pilates instructors, I have ever had the pleasure of being guided by. Her ability to challenge you, yet always being mindful of her students individual goals and bodies is very refreshing. I have had the enjoyment of being a hot Pilates instructor myself and coming from that background, I know what a dedicated instructor feels like and how much passion and energy goes out to your students. I’ve been going to Joy of Movement for years. The classes are challenging still after many years of Pilates. The variety of exercises, fun props, and experienced teacher/owner can’t be beat! I’ve tried other studios near my work in the South Bay and they don’t compare. Rochelle’s teaching style and variety works with all levels of students. I highly recommend this studio for beginning through advanced students.

I started coming to this studio in 2020 a year after I had a baby. It was the first time on a reformer for me and it was pretty addicting. I really felt like this helped get me stronger especially since I was postpartum. Rachelle is an extraordinary instructor! She really is excellent in giving prompts that will support you and where you are at. Her classes are never boring and I always know I’m going to have fun when I come here!

My husband and I are long time attendees of the pilates reformer classes. I joined 6 years ago with knee and hip issues. Within 3 months I was walking stairs with no pain. I also had shoulder surgery a few years ago and thanks to pilates I bounced back quickly. All the instructors are amazing and the facility is always clean and welcoming. I'm so glad I found this pilates studio! My husband started attending a month after me and we both look forward to classes two days a week.
