I trained with Coach Evan at Kaleo Fitness for six weeks while I was in town caring for my parents, and it was such a great experience. Missi was super responsive and quickly set me up with Evan, who turned out to be an excellent match. The workouts were well structured, and he understood my fitness level and goals right away, progressing the intensity thoughtfully each week. I loved how he explained everything and shared practical advice along the way. The space is beautiful, welcoming, and completely free of judgment — just a genuinely supportive environment. I highly recommend Kaleo Fitness for your nutrition and fitness training. I had several months of private training with Mike, and he helped me get back into a regular routine after a long illness and recovery. I switched to group classes and loved them! The classes are small, where the coaches can fine-tune all the participants in their form and strength challenges. I also had Missi help me with measuring macros, and I was able to quickly dial in my eating habits and meal planning to get the ultimate benefit of my personal workouts. I'm a mom of 5 and got to work with Missy at Kaleo Fitness. When i started, i was "fresh" postpartum - my last baby just turned 6 weeks.
I was motivated but really needed guidance and a good plan. That is exactly what I got from Missy. She created a tailored plan just for my situation and the season I am in right now (exclusively nursing a baby, homeschooling 3 other kids, taking care of toddler, not being able to go to the gym, only was able to workout at home, just busy-busy :). The plan was really personalized, got me tons of options for nutrition, specific meals, and even had a grocery list! What I loved about the plan most - Missy created a very doable exercise routine for my schedule. We talked over the phone, got to discuss all my goals and needs, and she was diligent to try to meet every single goal I had in mind. All the workouts were possible to be done in less than 30 minutes, and yet they were challenging enough to see some weight dropping and the body changing.
We got through First Phase (3 months). Missy would call me once a week and check in with me throughout the week as well, helping twick and change the plan as needed. That accountability really helped me stay motivated. In that time, I lost 10 lbs and got back my strength and stamina. And that all is while NOT dieting. I had plenty to eat and never felt like I was lacking, especially considering that I was nursing my baby at the moment.
Overall, I would recommend Kaleo fitness (especially Missy!) for anybody who needs guidance, personalized plan, and accountability and is ready to work on changing their health.

Kaleo Fitness has been life-changing for me! Almost a year ago, I met with Coach Kyle for the first time coming off a shoulder injury that had me sidelined for two years. I had gotten to the point where I had almost given up hope that I could ever work out like I had in the past. Kyle worked with my physical therapist to increase strength and mobility in my shoulder and build a strong foundation so I could progress to doing full-body workouts again. I remember that I couldn't even lift the dumbbells in my first group classes at Kaleo and so I did other exercises instead. The team at Kaleo are some of the kindest, most generous, encouraging and supportive people you will ever meet. They are just as invested in your success and they share so much knowledge and cheerleading along the way. The people who come to class are also so welcoming and friendly. It's the community I've been looking for in a gym. As an introvert, I needed a gym that allowed for one-on-one connections and not just a huge floor plan with tons of people and equipment. I am stronger than I've ever been and I'm so inspired by the heart and goodwill of the Kaleo team. I've surpassed the weight I was lifting pre-injury in my upper body and I'm excited to be chasing new goals. With Coach Kyle's accountability, knowledge, sense of humor and motivating words, my goals of building muscle and improving my health have been so much easier to reach. I'm so grateful to have found Kaleo Fitness. Missi has created an amazing business and community and leads by example. I almost don't want to post a review because it feels like a "best kept secret" ;) I can't recommend them enough.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the life-changing experience I had during my 12-week fitness and nutrition scholarship with Kaleo Fitness. This journey has been nothing short of transformative—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Over the 12 weeks, I lost 16 pounds, dropped a dress size, and, most importantly, gained a newfound love for nutrition and found my love for lifting again. I have struggled with weight fluctuations and mental health challenges for a long time, and at times, I truly felt like giving up for good. If you're looking for a coach who truly cares, Missi is the one. I worked with her for 9 months leading up to my gastric bypass surgery, and I can honestly say she made the entire process so much easier and more enjoyable.

She helped me build healthier eating and workout habits without ever making me feel deprived. Kaleo is a perfect gym for any level of fitness! I started coming here for some personal training sessions after I had my baby and I mostly worked with Kyle, but had a bit of advice from a few trainers especially Missi. They made sure the workouts were challenging enough but not too much for my postpartum body. I reached out to Missi after having my daughter. My body had changed throughout my pregnancy and I wanted to feel confident again. I did 1-on-1 coaching with Missi. She provided a detailed meal plan that was easy to follow. We had weekly check-ins where we discussed how I was feeling physically and what changes I was seeing. Missi was always attentive and would tweak the meal plan as needed. She was always available for questions or guidance throughout the week in between our check-ins and she was always so encouraging. I’ve been working with Kaleo Fitness for 5 months now, and I couldn’t be happier with my results so far! I love being part of this fitness community! I have been doing personal training sessions with Coach Kyle every week since I started with Kaleo. I first signed up for a 10-week personal training program with Coach Kyle, and I have gained so much strength and awareness about overall fitness and nutrition within those first 10 weeks. I was so happy about my progress that I signed up for another 10-week program!

Before I found Kaleo, I was recovering from a fractured foot, and I was very nervous about my recovery and pushing the limits too far. Coach Kyle took me under his wing, and he made me feel comfortable and confident in my abilities. I had very weak legs when I first started, but Coach Kyle understood where my starting point was at and created a program to help me safely progress in strength given my healing foot. His significant experience and understanding of fractures/injuries eased my nerves tremendously. He has guided me through each week focusing on my goals of strengthening my legs, and he has catered the workouts specific to the needs of my body. He pushes me in a positive way, and I no longer have concerns about my fracture! At the end of my first 10-week program, I met my initial goals! For my next 10-week program, Coach Kyle took the time to assess my progress and create a next level program of training to help meet my new goals. He also created a daily program for me to follow on my own outside of our personal training sessions, which makes my life easier. Show up, make the effort, and follow coach's instructions!

On top of the training aspect, Coach Kyle holds me accountable for my nutrition. We talk about nutrition every time we meet, and he provides guidance for successful/mindful eating like hitting my daily protein goals, the timing of my meals, having a balanced lifestyle, and so much more! I look forward to continuing my progress with my personal training, as Coach Kyle always makes our sessions fun and engaging. There is never a dull or monotonous moment with our sessions! I’ve been working out at Kaleo since December 2023 and it’s the best fitness experience I’ve ever had. It’s a small gym with a unique experience—they really focus on your goals and build community in the process. I’ve done 1:1 training and group classes. They do a great job matching you to a trainer that fits your needs and the coaches teach group classes on a rotation. I do 1:1 with Kyle and it’s been so effective. He’s super knowledgeable, kind, makes the time go by so fast, and has really helped me work toward my goals efficiently. They’re all excellent and there is definitely a coach for every style/need. The environment is so positive, the workouts are super tailored to your goals and I’ve seen a ton of progress physically and mentally. They can help you with nutrition goals too. If you’ve been nervous about diving into 1:1–do it at Kaleo. I didn’t think I would like personal training but now I can’t imagine doing anything else. You get what you pay for and my money is well spent at Kaleo.

Let me preface that I’m a chunky 54 year old woman that has not too horrible of eating habits and a wine habit… I was stuck in a rut of despair, trying to find the right personal trainer. I had one that didn’t understand women’s needs, but was nice. I joined a sauna club, not great for high blood pressure and menopause. Own a peloton bike that is covered in a sheet like an exercise ghost. Taking walks during the day felt tragic because there was work and stress… my motivation was nearly gone. When I hit the heaviest I’ve ever been at 161 pounds on my 5’ 1” frame and my stretchy pants started rolling down, I knew I needed to do something. I’ve always done well when I have a coach. My job requires me to think constantly so having someone tell me what to do and how to do it is alluring. After researching and talking to several coaches, I came across Kaleo Fitness. It’s a small personalized gym which is owned by Missi Russ, who also had an opening available. We talked over the phone and I had this moment where I knew I found the right coach. She actively listened to me and my issues. She didn’t judge. She said I can help you. So I started on this journey with her. At first we had training and a food program, which helped me reset some eating and drinking habits. Mind you the wine didn’t completely go away, but I was more mindful of it. The workouts challenged me, she customized a plan for me that started to make me feel more confident and stronger than I’ve felt in years. In November, I had surgery with a 10 week hiatus from working out, but I went into the surgery in better shape and recovered from it faster than I would have, had I not found Missi. She checked on me during recovery, which I didn’t expect. It’s that type of personal touch that makes her a true professional and wonderful person. I’ve been back at it for nearly two months now and we are making such amazing progress. I look forward to each session, which flies by each time. I can honestly say that I want to make her proud of me and she makes me want to work harder than ever before. Kaleo Fitness is changing my life for the better and I’m so grateful to have found them.

Coach Missi and Coach Evan are an invaluable part of my life, health and fitness. I’m lucky enough to be able to work with both of them for personal training, which is a testament to Missi and making sure that my needs are met. I also see Missi for nutrition and have participated in her group challenges. They offer virtual training, if that works better for your schedule and comfortability. There’s yoga on Mondays and small group workout classes throughout the week that you can either pay a drop-in fee or a monthly membership fee to attend. You can purchase pre-workout, supplements and protein powder directly from them and they partner with Prepped Eats, which provides a discount code, making Kaleo Fitness such a well-rounded gym. No matter your needs, they have something that fits. It’s the first time in my life that I am prioritizing working out and holding myself accountable, and they are a huge part of that. I have been officially training with Missi for the last 7 months. After joining one Kaleo challenge after another, I decided her online coaching and training was perfect for me, and it is!

I've been a client of Dale, a personal trainer at Kaleo Fitness, starting from early 2022; since the beginning, he has been an absolutely phenomenal coach and trainer. He is personable, intelligent, and genuinely cares about my success. With his understanding of body mechanics and the biology of what it takes to achieve big with an exercise program, he coaches with a keen eye and an encouraging heart, always nudging me in the right direction. Whether it’s a stance adjustment for extra lift support or a cheery “You can do this!” to get through another set of pushups, his presence always nets me extra motivation to succeed.

The facilities there at Kaleo Fitness are wonderful! The place is always clean and tidy, with plenty of equipment to lend our sessions a bevy of useful exercises we can do. I personally feel I have made good strides towards the level of physical preparedness that I've wanted in my life, and I owe a lot of that to Dale's assistance and encouragement. He listens to my needs as a client and tailors our sessions based on my personal goals, and always with his trademark jovial nature.

Strength gain and weight loss aren’t easy, and Dale has always been there for me when life makes it difficult to stick to it. I wanted to give a shout-out to coach Evan. I had previously trained with Missi before she opened Kaleo Fitness but I ended up taking a long break for personal reasons. When I returned (because of course who else would I go to except the best) she paired me up with one of her trainers, Evan.
He was immediately accommodating to my request to mod my workouts to minimize anything that would cause tension to my back. Not only have our 1v1 virtual personal training sessions been challenging in the best type of way, but I can feel my body getting stronger. He began slowly implementing workouts that might have triggered me discomfort in the past, and to my surprise the pain has been minimal by far. Our sessions are only 30 mins long, but he’s customized my workouts to be challenging enough to where I’m breaking sweat, getting my heart rate pumping to where I’m burning calories and feeling energized and motivated again.
With a little discipline and determination, I have no doubts that any coach you get paired with at Kaleo will help you reach your goals.

Kaleo Fitness is an excellent way to get into shape. I am not one for going to the gym and Missi’s online exercise program provides a great way to stay healthy and fit. Each session is about 30 minutes long, 6 times per month with a variety of full body exercises. Also, each session is different so you do not overwork one area of the body and can proceed at your own pace. Missi actively monitors the participants and gives group suggestions to improve the benefits of each exercise. A huge bonus is access to past sessions of my membership months, so if I miss a class I can watch at my earliest convenience to get back on schedule. Missi encourages me to be accountable to myself and I feel invigorated to keep an active exercise schedule. I am getting into my best shape at 73 and I feel that it is important to stay active and healthy as I get older.

I have been taking personal training classes with Coach Kyle for a good part of the last year and he has helped push me to my limits and give me directions on proper form so I can continue to work out on my own with confidence. I’ve been doing coaching with Missi for 3 months now and have seen a significant change in my body (1.5-2” inches down in waist and 5 pounds down!) with the addition of her meal plan and weekly check-ins that keep me accountable and motivated! I HIGHLY recommend Kaleo Fitness to anyone, (all ages, body types, gender, etc). I have been working with Missi for about five months now attending in-person and online zoom bootcamps. I can honestly attest to the fact I have not experienced one workout identical to another. They are fun (laughter is always involved), high energy, challenging, and I receive great support (from trainers and clientele alike). I love the small classes where corrections to form are made and subsequently no injuries sustained. I started several months after a hip surgery repairing a labreal tear and Missi knew how to give modifications. I am happy to say that I don't need modifications for everything anymore and I feel better and stronger and look forward to the workouts. And, despite being my own worst critic, people are commenting on the changes they see. :)

If you are trying to not only get in shape, but also want to adopt healthy habits as well, Missi, the owner, is who you want to see. She has been helping me develop healthy eating habits and an exercise routines since I was in college.

In 2016, I came to Missi because I felt like I was gaining weight and didn’t like how I looked. So with her being in Sacramento and me being 6 hours north, she drew up a CUSTOM 8 week meal and workout plan for me that would fit my goals.

Fast-forward to 2020, my son is born and I gain a lot of stress weight. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been at this point and so I go back to Missi for help. With her training me in person and me referring back to her meal/workout plan from 2016, I am able to go from 210 pounds to 180 pounds.

Missi is the nicest and most hands on personal trainer I’ve seen. And not only that, but she cares about you as an individual and wants to make sure you’re comfortable and you can workout and obtain your goals without any kind of judgment. She’s the best!!
