As someone who does Pilates every day in London, Anna gave me the two best classes I have ever experienced. We did so much on the legs with a total-body workout. It was like doing 2 classes in other studios, without feeling overwhelmed/strained. We lost zero time in between transitions. Thankfully, there's no loud music/microphone. It is challenging and simultaneously restorative/delicious. She mentioned she had a ballet background, and it shows. Again, the best class I've ever done. Enough to get me up at 6.30 am.

I had to leave Kylie’s class due to her being so rude to me & making me feel so uncomfortable. I can provide more details if needed but I’ve never been treated like that in a class environment. After class, I submitted a review on ClassPass detailing the experience — it has since been deleted as I was marked for missing class, even though I double checked at the front before leaving that I wouldn’t be marked as a no show. I ended up booking a class at the Santa Monica location a few hours later & it was much better. I’ll never come back here :(

I come to the Lord to sweat away my sins and reawaken as a renewed being. Karen is a life force of energy!
I’ve been going to Karen Lord Pilates Movement for a few years now, and it’s hands down my favorite Pilates studio. Karen runs the place with so much heart and care, and it shows in every detail—from the lighting and cleanliness of the space to the perfectly curated music that keeps you motivated.
The instructors are all fantastic, and you can tell many of them have been with Karen for a long time, which speaks volumes about the kind of studio she’s created. This place isn’t just about physical exercise; it’s about empowerment. Every time I leave, I feel stronger, more confident, and just better overall.
The studio is truly one of a kind. If you’re looking for a space that’s uplifting, energizing, and inspiring, look no further. Karen and her team will transform your workout routine—and maybe even your outlook on life. Highly recommend!

I've been lucky to know Karen for over 20 years, and am thrilled to take classes at KLPM when I'm in LA. The instructors are kind and knowledgable, the decor is unmatched -- so chic!! That in itself is hard to find but the classes kick *ss every time which is most important.

Karen Lord Pilates Movement is the best. The studio spaces are beautifully designed, the music is thoughtfully curated, every trainer is incredible in every way, and the community among clients, owners, trainers and staff is so special to be a part of. Can’t say enough great things about KLPM.

I found this studio on ClassPass while traveling and have loved every teacher I’ve experienced. Classes are challenging and well paced to get a great workout — my body is so happy. The studio is conveniently located on Washington and the design is on-point. Wish this studio was in San Francisco so I could go every day.

Beautiful space, professional front desk staff, and amazing trainers. My favorite trainer is Meagan T who always leads a great class. All the other trainers are great as well. I will definitely be back.

KL pilates is an awesome studio in LA! I have been to both locations now and the spaces are beautiful and spacious. My instructor, Jenna, was encouraging and attentive. The class is challenging but the movements flow so well. I leave class feeling strong and work up a good sweat.

This is the best pilates studio I've ever been to! It is the perfect balance of challenging, but not impossible - I always feel like I work really hard but it's so achievable and the moves actually make sense and flow so well. It's much better than mega former in my opinion as it's true pilates but still challenging AF and not too slow. I've tried many pilates studios in LA and this is the best by far. The teachers are so well trained and knowledgeable and vary their moves so we never get bored. It's such a kind, positive environment. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming. Most importantly it's SUPER clean. I would go every day if I could afford it! I've never had a bad class but Jenna and Gabriela are definitely my favorites. I love starting my Wednesdays with them!

Just the best. I've been coming for years. I tried many others before this. Nothing compares. If you want to learn REAL Pilates, that makes you mobile until you're 90, that changes your body shape, that makes you strong as f--k, this is the place. My regulars are Jisun, Olivia, Karen and Gaby. If I was sleazier I'd upload a picture of my six pack but you'll just have to take my word for it.

Obsessed with Karen Lord Pilates studio in Venice. The teachers are so caring and taking class with the owner Karen Lord is the best. Class with Karen is the hardest pilates class I’ve ever taken but I always feel safe and the music is awesome. Her sense of humor really keeps the class moving and she always stays after class for any questions students have. So thoughtful!

On my last visit to LA I loved finding KLPM Venice via ClassPass. Now I’ve returned they have opened a second studio in Santa Monica. Both beautiful and super clean. The staff are always so welcoming and the trainers really know what they are talking about - super passionate and able to adapt the classes to challenge you further. 100% check them out!

This will be a long review :)
I’ve been going to Karen Lord Pilates Movement for about a year now, and I truly believe that doing so has changed my life for the better.
I found KLPM from ClassPass, and after a few classes, invested in the unlimited membership. I’ve practiced Pilates on/off for the last decade and have been to many studios, but Karen’s studio is the first to have the significant impact on my mind-body connection and overall relationship with my body. I’ve changed how I carry myself and even how I breathe. Learning how to move with precision has become meditative and addicting - the sculpting effect is just the cherry on top.
All the trainers are skilled and encouraging (but not in the yelling way that Megaformer classes tend to be), and know just how to cue to counter the ways the body wants to cheat a movement. I’ve been going for a year, and I am still constantly learning new moves on the reformer. As someone who bores easily, Pilates keeps my mind focused and challenged, but also present and calm. Olivia’s classes have done wonders for my posture, helping me activate those muscles that used to be so weak they were hard to engage before. There’s something about being able to engage muscles you’ve never noticed before that really bring a sense of gratitude for your body and what it can do.
Looking back, the other studios I’ve been to were mainly franchises that never considered the overall experience. Think: crammed rooms of people, teachers who check their phone during a class, classes that stop becoming challenging, or one thing that drove me crazy at Club Pilates was this flickering lightbulb on the ceiling. It was so distracting, and even though I mentioned it to the staff, it wasn’t changed for months.
KLPM is the most sensory-soothing studio I’ve been to. The Venice location is intimate and airy, with beautiful white arches, crystals, and plants. Music is a central component of the classes, and really helps movements flow. I’ve even caught myself wanting to do certain exercises when certain songs come on! The new Santa Monica location is just as pleasing to the senses. It’s a bigger space with its exposed ceilings and continuous mirrors, but still feels warm and welcoming. And the bathroom is gorgeous!
In addition to the physical space, the energy of those who attend classes is really positive. It’s a very inclusive space, the focus of both the trainers and attendees is contagious, and I’ve ended up meeting some really lovely people.
I’m so happy to have found this space, and whole-heartedly recommend experiencing them for yourself if you are looking to become more in-tune with your body, gain flexibility, and build lean muscle.

Love love loveeeee KL for the mind/body connection and the open vibe. This isn't your traditional, stuffy, LA-cliche Pilates studio. Everyone is welcoming and non-judgmental from the front desk, to the instructors, to your fellow classmates. Karen always offers to stay after class (as long as she isn't teaching right afterwards) to answer questions about classes (technique, form, placement, movement, etc.) and offers to adjust your reformer prior to class to make sure you're safe! Her class is advanced but again, she's super welcoming to new people (and those new to Pilates) and answers questions. Her cues are constant and she reminds you what to focus on (muscles, body alignment, breath!)! I am a newbie but this is by far my favorite class and studio so far. Workouts are great and I always feel taller and brighter after classes!

I ride motorcycles, dirtbikes, I am a stylist and a former ballet dancer. My body was wracked with pain especially my back from standing and crashing. Karen has helped me with my pain and mobility tremendously. Such a knowledgeable person and supremely intuitive. So grateful for her.

I rarely write reviews, but I need to share with you all how amazing this studio is. The community and space that Karen has created are second to none. I have been to Pilates classes off and on for years, but this is the first studio I was compelled to join on a membership basis. Karen and Mike are welcoming, kind, supportive and the breath of fresh air that everyone has needed in this crazy year. When Covid hit last year and the studio was closed for 8 months straight, I truly feared I wouldn't be able to return to this calming space. When I walked back through the doors a few weeks ago as they reopened, it was like a weight had been lifted.
The studio is clean and airy, I feel 100 percent safe being there. Karen has made it a priority that her students feel safe and they have even reduced class size. With everything that is going on, hand-on adjustments are a no-no, but just Karen's verbal queues take your practice to the next level. I cannot recommend this studio, this community, or Karen Lord enough! Do yourself a favor and take some time to visit and learn about this studio! Karen and Mike, thank goodness y'all are back!

Karen Lord Pilates is A-mazing! I love each and every trainer. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy shop trying to decide which class to sign up for. I am so grateful that they went to zoom classes when they had to shut down. Not only do they keep my body healthy, they keep my emotions healthy. You will find a clean and enticing studio if you do in-house. The zoom classes are fun and easy to follow. Karen and Mike set the tone for a loving, welcoming, healthy, joyful experience.

Karen Lord changed my life. If you are looking for an epic workout with amazing people you MUST go see Karen! Start with the Love and Pilates Class, then try the Power Reformer and close out with a Yin Yoga. Karen has developed a method that will get you in crazy shape while also providing the meditation we all need at the end of a busy day in LA! Don't let me forget to mention the epic music selections! x

This is a fabulous studio. I’ve been going to KLP since her first pop up space in LA, to the Abbot Kinney location, to this new expanded space. Karen’s classes are absolutely great - challenging and very rewarding - she’s clearly a very experienced and gifted instructor. Across the board the classes are relatively strenuous and require Pilates experience. Classes also all set to music. For those looking to sweat, check in out! Highly recommended.

This lovely Pilates studio used to be a pop-up next to Gjusta and has now found a permanent space next to a wood working shop on Abott Kinney. The space is open, bright, and spacious with little spaces to change. The Pilates machines are brand-new. My class with Emily was really great: she started out with some stretches and lunges and then we moved into core moves. She really tailored the class to the level of the students, which I loved. Excellent attention to technique and form. Tip: parking on Abott Kinney is tough, try the public parking lots on Electric Ave behind Lemonade. Also, as of now, there’s only bottled water to purchase at the studio ($4) so fill up before you arrive.
