Gym it pretty nice, came mid day and wasn’t too busy and I got to workout for free, that facilities are pretty nice but some machines/equipment are dated. The access to pool, gymnasium along with other facilities is a nice bonus. Definitely gonna come again

It’s so disappointing that Kennedy refuses to open up a long course for lap swimming. Is the excuse really about fitting more people in the pool? What about circle swimming?
Such a terrible decision that has driven away so many long time members who came here for the 50 meter pool to train.

Bring back the 50 meter pool! Let athletes train again.
It’s absurd that the swim director would rather cater to whale aerobics vs. real swimming.
Training in a 50-meter pool is vastly different from a 25-meter setup. Fewer turns mean a more consistent pace, better stroke technique, and improved endurance—essential for long-distance swimmers.
Stop discriminating against endurance swimmers and bring back the 50 meter length.

Best gym in the SLO area, PERIOD! They have four of them in the SLO County area. This is not just a gym, but an actual club. Their equipment and workout space is upstairs while the amenities like the TV sets, lounge area, snack bar, digital golf driving range, basketball court, etc., are all downstairs. Huge olympic size pool with jacuzzi outside as well.

I’ve been a member for many years and I really enjoy this gym. I go to the SLO one and while I love the gym itself, I’ve been getting really frustrated with the night crew working. The short hours are a bummer in itself, as I only have time in the evenings to work out. But I make it work. But the issue I have is with the evening crew closing up early. It closes at 9pm during the week and the staff, every day, close things up early. The cardio area will have over a dozen people working out and the employees come and shut windows and turn off TVs around 8:40. That’s still a significant amount of time for a cardio workout. Members will be looking at the TVs and working out with the windows open behind them, and the staff still comes very early to shut things up. The other day, no joke, an employee turned off the TVs and shut windows at 8:20… there was 40 minutes left! I often will wait until they leave and go and open the window behind me that they shut well before closing. It’s just a really big bummer for those of us who only have the evenings to get a good workout in. It takes probably 2 minutes to turn TVs off and shut windows upstairs, I don’t know why they can’t wait until 9 to do it. For the price of this gym, it doesn’t seem right to me. I feel like we are being pushed out well before closing. It would be really really awesome if the crew could stop closing things up so early. It happens every single night. It’s really not fair to the members.

Great Club. Has everything one needs. Very clean, could use a bit of a facelift in the locker rooms. Maybe update with individual locks on the lockers (you have to bring your own lock). Great pool, great outdoor equipment to work out outside. Really helpful, well trained, cordial staff. Training was ongoing and up to the minute when I was there. Kudos to the Manager person training her staff. Again, did I say cordial?
I will use thus Club everytime I am in SLO. Highly recommend!

For years, this pool was a top-notch facility for serious lap swimmers in California. I often met Ironman athletes training in the 50-meter pool, which was a testament to its quality.
Unfortunately, post-lockdowns, the swim director decided not to reopen the pool at its full 50-meter length during certain parts of the day. Before the lockdowns, the pool was set to 25 meters from 3 PM to 7 PM, and the rest of the time it was 50 meters.
When I inquired about the reason, he stated, "I can have more water aerobic classes now." When I escalated my concerns to Brett, he mentioned that it was ultimately the swim director's decision and cited a shortage of workers to move the swim blocks as the reason. This is puzzling, especially since membership prices have increased.
There is a significant difference between swimming in a 25-meter pool versus a 50-meter pool, particularly when training for long distances. Training in a 50-meter pool is beneficial as it reduces the number of turns, allowing swimmers to maintain a more consistent pace and rhythm, which is crucial for endurance events like Ironman competitions. The longer pool also helps in developing better stroke technique and efficiency.
It's disappointing that a person with the title "Swim Director" would prioritize more water aerobics classes over accommodating Ironman athletes who need a long course for their training. It's even more frustrating that despite the increase in membership prices, they claim a shortage of workers as the reason for not moving the swim blocks twice a day. This decision undermines the needs of serious swimmers who rely on this facility for proper training. Furthermore, driven away long time members who came here for the pool.

WARNING! You must give notice of cancelling your membership in writing! I called in December of 2021* to cancel my membership and was told over the phone no problem. Unfortunately for me, they continued to bill me for 7 more months before I noticed the charges on my statement. Despite me not having attended the facility once in that time, I was told by the manager Nicole Guadarrama that I needed to have a "signed cancellation" and that they would not refund the charges. I had been a member there in the past and had canceled before over the phone and have never seen the alleged "signed cancellation" document. I filed a dispute with my credit card, and they resolved the issue in my favor. Do not let these tricksters scam you. * I originally posted the wrong date- it was December 2021 not 2022.

Have just joined and started to use the facilities, but my wife has been attending for several months and her positive experience drew me in. She loves the diverse selection of classes, including those in the pool, and has gotten great support from her personal trainer, whom she uses on an as needed basis. We both look forward to regular use of the pickleball court and the pool. There is a nice selection of exercise equipment for both cardio and weight-bearing training. The staff seem helpful and personable and the facilities are kept clean and tidy. Parking is always available.

I’ve been a member since I was 14. I am 31 now. While there has been some changes to improve in terms of equipment, for the most part there are still machines there from when I started going at 14. Hours suck but it is what it is I guess, if they want to compete with other gyms they need to update their equipment ASAP. Times have changed and people are looking for quality, I know I am. If the club wasn’t down the street from where I live I don’t think I’d still be going there, but the jacuzzi is convenient at times. There is so much potential upstairs to add more stuff but for some reason KCF likes these open spaces around the floor, other gyms have more options while still having room to walk. They wasted an opportunity with the new pointless “Ab and stretching station” this could have been saved for downstairs (which also has potential for something bigger) KCF has to get with the times or they’ll loose the younger generation of gym goers to come.

Has potential to be a nice gym. I only swim at the gym. I’ve been a member for about 12 years and have dealt with management not maintaining a consistent water temperature for the pool or showers. I ride my bike to the gym and it sucks when I have to take cold showers. The pool water temperature fluctuates. Sometimes it’s comfortable to swim in but they off turn down the heater to unsafe temperatures at times. They seem to only do the right thing when people complain. My membership will be expiring soon. And I’ve been getting lots of calls to renew my membership. A good business wouldn’t have to harass it’s customers to renew their membership. I’d gladly continue my membership if management would adhere to what they claim to provide. I’ve decided it not worth the hassle, so I will not be renewing my membership.

This gym is very disrespectful and inconsiderate. I don’t even go to this gym and won’t but I do get my local produce box delivered here and if you don’t pick it up within 4 hours of it being delivered they throw it out and don’t even try to contact you first. I’ve switched the delivery but they literally get 5 deliveries here so even if they had to call all of us to just double check what’s going on that’s 5 calls not hundreds.

The reason I was there two weeks ago that the surveillance ask me to make this review tells it all it was to find out why I never got my refund I was supposed to get for canceling my membership that I just got under their 5-day refund policy the place was overcrowded the days I went the steam room got so hot it kept burning my skin I couldn't stay in there I still haven't got my refund and to add salt to the wound they charged me for anotheranother month they charge me for another months even though that confirmed I cancelled two weeks before my discover card mr. Kennedy is greedy now I will take the long bus ride everyday to Pismo Beach athletic club which is much better looking forward to reviewing them when does surveillance asked me to

It's a pretty good gym. The pool is nice, the hot tub is great, and the stean room is awesome. The weights are heavy, and there's a decent selection of machines. Normally the machines are in decent repair. I have a couple of complaints. The hours are too short on the weekends and a lot of the rubber grips leave black stains on my hands.

The staff and trainers are great people, but I have been trying to cancel my membership for 5 months and keep getting charged. I moved out of SLO County but have to deal with this membership fee every single month. I’ve been told multiple times that I should see a refund the next day, but instead I just keep getting charged. If you plan to live and die in SLO, then this is the gym for you, but if you may at some point leave, I would suggest a gym with a little more integrity.

I went here on Nov. 22 of last year to lose some pounds. A man named Lee Harvey Oswald shot me while I was enjoying myself on the treadmill. I screamed: "you have the wrong Kennedy! This is a fitness center!" He looked so embarrassed and sincerely apologized. He invited me to shuffleboard afterwards. What a gentleman! Needless to say, what was a horrid start of events turned into pure love. Thanks!

They do a really good job not wanting to retain members. I was a member for about 3 years, half of that I was not in town or just didn't go. I still paid the fee. My card expired it's the 26th and they won't wave the fee for April. Most likely I would have spent the next 6 months and walked in 3 times. Seams like easy money to me.

Solid equipment, lots of classes, pool, hot tub, basketball court, squash, racquetball and much more. Really has it all! Decent prices if you can commit to a monthly autopay membership, I still pay the monthly at the moment just because I travel. Pretty clean, friendly staff, other members are generally decent people, you still get the guys/gals who can’t stop starring at themselves in the mirror taking longer at stations but that’s every gym I have ever been to and I have been coming off and on for almost 16 years. Slo and ag are the only locations I have been to. I haven’t taken advantage of any add on services but they have some. I prefer this club over the alternatives. I still pay for boutique fitness class memberships but really good value here for what you have access to.

Dirty, expensive and needs security !! The bathrooms, pool, and lockers are disgusting. Watched a lady in the pool put her gum on the tile while swimming. Yuck ! Watched another lady rummaging through lockers stealing things and a homeless guy breaking into cars. The bathroom shower drains are full of nasty hair and don’t drain properly, causing dirty water to rise up to your ankles. The gym equipment was dirty with sweat and smelly funk. The 15 television sets are annoying and distracting.

WARNING! This gym is a Covid hotspot. Do not go to this gym if you are an older adult, someone with a weaker immune system, or simply don’t want to astronomically increase your risk of contacting Covid. This gym is not complying within state-mandated Covid regulations at all. Most of the employees aren’t even wearing masks let alone gym members. It looks like Covid has never even happened when you walk into that place and see no one wearing a mask, no social distancing, and no one even attempting to enforce any social distancing. I was shocked and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Find a gym that cares about your health and safety and the health and safety of the community because this gym is certainly puts you and everyone you come into contact with at a very high risk.
Edited after their response: I’m not talking about a way I felt. I’m talking about what I saw in your San Luis Obispo location this week. Simply encouraging members to socially distance and wear masks is not nearly enough, and with more than half of your staff not wearing masks or socially distancing it doesn’t really set an example of seriousness. Also, I’m surprised to hear you are still talking about touch surfaces and seemingly basing your entire Covid model off that when the CDC said long ago it isn’t particularly easy to contract Covid through a touched surface, but more so water droplets that can hang in the air, especially indoors, for up to 3 HOURS. It would take less than a second to contract Covid in your facility if someone in there had it and wasn’t wearing a mask, and statistically the odds are that some of your members do. There were a lot of people in there. That was a disappointing response to say the least. It’s clear you aren’t taking your members health or safety seriously. You are taking less precautions than anywhere else I have been.

He said “NO”. I went to vietnam for 3 months. They still charge me for my membership. Come in today , ask them why ? The lady told me i have to come in to sign a paperwork or have it email it to me. The Problem is the guy who i talked to 3 months ago said “NO”. I asked her “ do you keep your phone conversation record?” She said “NO”. So there is no way to track what he told me. I'm there almost everyday. Brett and his staff are on point. Clean, functional, and everything you could want in a health club.

It is the largest fitness club in town, has all the amenities. Steam, pool, weights, classes, etc. Even has smoothies and local beer for that after the workout treat.
It is a good place, nice people, a little bit pricey but well worth it. They just went solar power so Kennedy does seem to care about the environment.
If you are ready to start getting in shape, this is a darn good place to start.

Overall it's a great gym. Gene is awesome I would highly recommend getting your membership through him in slo. Only downside is the basketball court floor really needs a cleaning and to be dusted regularly.

I really like the well-rounded aspect of this gym with a pool full workout area and basketball court. They just need bigger flat screen TVs in front of the treadmills and ellipticals

I love this gym so much. There's an amazing variety of classes focusing on strength, endurance, and/or cardio that can be as challenging or as low key as you want to get out of them. And a lot of them mix in fun too. Instructors who help you achieve your goals. Affordable membership AND really affordable kid care. Showers and locker rooms too! The staff is super friendly and helpful. I didn't think I'd ever be a gym person until I found this one and am so grateful!

Best workout facility in town! Extremely competent staff and services! A special thanks to the owners and management that run the Kennedy club for making this place what it is. I will definitely be recommending to friends and family.
