I was looking for a new activity for my teen, so we decided to try this together. It was so much fun for the both of us! The vibe there is lighthearted, fun, and nonjudgmental. Everyone goes at their own pace and level. We have had 4 different instructors so far and they are all awesome and encouraging. We have been now working on getting our friends and family to join too!

Great gym experience. Its is basically an extended family. The instructors are highly trained and give excellent instruction to make sure you are getting the most out of your workouts and more importantly using correct form to reduce chance of injury. I love that you have your own bag and everyone is focused on their own form and their own bag so you don't have any judgment and people just go with their own pace throughout class.

I took part in their 6wk transformation challenge and let me tell you, KickHouse doesn't just help you as you transform physically - they do it in a holistic way (which is extremely important). I felt supported by all of the coaches I had the pleasure of working with (Kate, Alexa, Robbie, Todd & Jackie) and even those I didn't get to take classes with were praised by other members. They kept it interesting (switching up exercises & materials used with a variety of classes to choose from), fun (they sometimes had music-themed weeks where you can vote for your artist of the day to play during class, etc), encouraging (moved around the gym during workouts and pushed us), and informative (gave specific & general feedback on proper form and resources they've used in order to promote muscle recovery like required amount of sleep, macro goals, etc).
Not gonna lie, I honestly can't rave enough about them. If you're on the fence about trying out a class because of time commitment or fear of failure, try to reframe it as you're betting on yourself - a very worthy opponent.

I had a great time at this studio…until i wanted to end my membership. Here’s my story:
I signed up for a three month membership. They have the 30-day cancellation policy (one of those classic gym ploys to keep you longer for no functional reason), so before the end of my second month, I said please cancel my membership. Alexa said, oh you can just pause your account for up to three months if you want more time to decide and come back. I liked that option, so I said please put a hold on my membership at the end of my feb cycle (I was going on vacation early march). I even double checked that the hold was scheduled before my last class of the month. A month passed and I was checking my bank account and saw that I was charged for the month that my membership should’ve been put on hold. I sent an email and called them to get this fixed and asked for my membership to be terminated so I don’t have to worry about the membership anymore. That alone was frustrating and annoying (and might I add, not once did the owner, Todd, acknowledge they made a mistake or apologized for it), but that was the least of it. The response I got was, “we can cancel your membership but you would need to pay for a month because of the 30-day policy”…..I’m canceling well ahead of the end of the hold period but that doesn’t matter, I still need to pay for that 30-day period, something Alexa didn’t inform me of when she suggested I put the account on hold.

Like every corporate studio, Todd proceeded to tell me to refer to the terms of the agreement (which does not say exactly what he claimed to be the terms). This studio pretends they’re all human and nice and understanding, but when it comes down to it, it is just like every other corporate studio out there.

I might’ve returned to the studio if I didn’t have such a horrible experience canceling the membership, but now, I don’t even want to step back into the studio even though I have 30 more days of the membership. They can’t pay me to go back.

One standout feature of Kickhouse Gym is their consistent coaching staff. With a team that has been in place for an extended period, you can expect a warm and family-like atmosphere. The coaches are familiar with your individual fitness journey, which enables them to offer tailored motivation and guidance.

Kickhouse Gym offers a variety of standard classes, and they also provide monthly workshops for an additional fee. Recently, they've introduced a resistance training class, expanding their offerings to cater to various fitness preferences.

In terms of location and convenience, Kickhouse Gym is situated near two parking garages and offers street parking, making it relatively hassle-free to find parking. Moreover, it's conveniently located near a Starbucks, close to the BART station, and easily accessible from the freeway.

What I've personally appreciated about Kickhouse Gym is the friendly and welcoming demeanor of both the staff and fellow members. The workouts are not only fun but also challenging, and they provide heart rate monitors to help you track and achieve your fitness goals.

Considering the pricing, Kickhouse Gym's monthly membership for unlimited classes is competitive with similar-sized gyms in its unique genre, such as Orange Theory. From my experience, I feel that I'm receiving excellent value for the membership fee.

As someone who genuinely enjoys their experience at Kickhouse Gym, I'm optimistic about its future growth. I hope to see it expand into a larger space with more classes, coaches, and members, further enhancing the community and fitness opportunities it offers.

Updated October 2023: Going on two years with Kickhouse - and I've expanded my repertoire to include Recovery Kick (Kb + yoga conditioning) and Kicking Abs (much needed abs workout) to balance out the kickboxing I do almost every day! I can't say enough about this studio - the coaches, the programming, and the culture are top notch. You should come in and check out a class!
Updated review 3/24/2022 - I joined just about 3 months ago and went from 0-60 right away. A long time couch potato, my cholesterol was testing high, and diet wasn't doing it. I decided it was time to get off my lazy butt and exercise - but regular exercise is boring to me. I kept seeing this ad on Facebook for Kickhouse, and decided to give it a shot. My motivation was to lower my cholesterol, but I found that the kickboxing workout was a great stress reliever too! Now I'm going 6 days a week and twice a day on weekends!. I just had my physical, and my bloodwork came back - still elevated - but - my Dr. was excited that my cholesterol had gone down FORTY points since 6 months ago! "Keep up the good work!"
All the coaches are great - they really bring out the best in you.

2nd Update:

My 2nd Spartan Race of 2022 was 6 minutes faster than my first ever Spartan Race of 2018. Crushed it on a rainy, misty, wet, cold day! Probably, my finish time would have been much faster if it was the same beautiful and sunny weather of the 2018 Race. Both races the workouts at the kickboxing studio were my only training and prep, and that's all I needed.

I’ve never had such boundless energy as I do after each class in my life before. I’ve much more stamina, endurance, energy, and better conditioning than in my younger athletic years. No way I’d be where I am in terms of health, confidence, and overall self-esteem if not for all of you. Love you all and thank you so much for being an integral part of this wellness journey!! "Let's Kick It!"

3rd Update:

I recommend all to do the Self-defense workshop classes that's currently on once a month on a Saturday. It is fast paced, always learn something new, fun sparring with a member or coach in how to get out of holds, quick strike and flee. 1 hour that can stretch to 90 minutes or longer without any of us sensing that this is going on too long. Also, recommend doing private session training with your favorite coaches. Training with shin guards, striking, defending that includes when you're backed into the wall or corner, and countering greatly helps in your personal development, confidence, and fun with thinking multiple moves ahead like in a chess game.

Shout out to coach Robbie for his boundless energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm. He's always available before or after classes with help in correcting, to learn something new, or to perfect what you know. Members that love his classes should do private session trainings with him. I did and hope to do more!

Nearing 1700 classes overall at this studio and will reach 2000 classes in 2024 is a great testament to the coaches, the format of classes, the clean studio, and the wonderful members that you don't get tired of these workouts, that in my case is over 5 years and counting. Thank you!

Today I decided to commit to KickHouse after attending my first class. Coach Aja and coach Todd were outstanding! Even though I had no kick boxing experience, I immediately felt comfortable on the floor. There were moments where I felt lost and exhausted but the structure of the class made it so that I didn’t feel burnout from one routine. I also received enough support throughout the class to feel like I was right there with everyone else. With Coach Todd’s help I was able to pick up the basics and progressively improve throughout the class. Update: still going and still love it! There is good class variety, and each coach brings something a little different to the mat! I am definitely starting to notice results, both in my own strength and endurance, as well as body composition. In addition to the classes, the coaches have helped me with nutrition/snack advice and stretches to do at home.

I joined about one month ago and am hooked! The coaches are all so friendly and helpful. I am able to work out at my own pace without any "shame", but rather encouragement. The other members have all been welcoming as well!

Heard about Kickhouse in August of last year. Recently started attending Kickhouse class sessions and am in love. Only regret is not trying it out sooner c: Several instructors to choose from (all awesome), Various time slots throughout the day and evening to fit that flexible schedule, unique gear if you need to upgrade your current gloves and wraps, and wonderful supportive peers in each and every class.

I've been procrastinating to try out a kickboxing class. Today I tried it for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed my time with KickHouse. The staff are very welcoming, take their time with clients and are there to help coach you if you need additional assistance. The first class was free and you should definitely take advantage of the one-on-one with a trainer to go over all the moves you'll need for your first class.
Everyone is distanced and have their on space to move around, music selection was super fun. I officially became a member and I'm looking forward to my next class. You'll enjoy it!

I have been looking for a gym since I moved to California in 2019 and honestly have not found one that is more welcoming than Kickhouse! I saw that they offer a free kickstart class and thought “it can’t hurt to just try”. After I took my first class and was completely hooked! You can’t go wrong with becoming a member here. The coaches and staff are amazing. Throughout class, they do their best to give each member tips and 1:1 coaching. When it comes to form, the coaches are like robots. I strive to be like them one day. The classes are the right length. This is easily the best class-workout setting. I've done CorePower, Orange Theory, general HIIT classes, etc. and this is by far the most fun and useful workout. For context, I'm a 26 year old guy who's been doing boxing/Muay Thai on and off for the past year and a half. I wanted a place where I could get a good workout and improve my skill. This was perfect for that. Not only is it a great workout just by the nature of kickboxing, but the format is really designed well and makes it just the right amount of difficult where it's not dreadful to go to a class. Plus the coaches are great and easily have made me a better kickboxer. It's the perfect alternative if you don't want to spend $500 / month on private classes. It's those small tweaks that these coaches can make that will make you drastically improve. Last but not least, the community. I've always been one to call BS when companies / gyms trying to preach, "We care about our members/employees! Go community!", I feel like it's usually some catty people who pretend to cheer each other on. Not this place. It took me a bit to get warmed up but people genuinely care about each other and root for your success here. It all starts with the owners, Todd and Denise, they're a really nice married couple that care about this place and the members. It was actually sad to move away from Walnut Creek and have to cancel my membership because of the community here. I'll miss not seeing these people on a regular basis. All in all, definitely recommend Kick House. Whether you're just getting started out (there's plenty of members like that) and you want to learn how to defend yourself while getting a workout or you have some experience under your belt and you're looking to improve your technique and stamina, this place has got it all.
