Such a fantastic way to start the day. Koi has a mix of kettlebell classes in front of the De Young and jogs around the park (Strawberry Hill is a favorite destination) where stretchy bands are used along the way for resistance training. It’s a well-rounded workout that is as good for the mind as it is for the body. It’s great to feel challenged and well supported by the instructors and peers. (Neil’s enthusiasm and words of encouragement make even the harder parts more doable!)

I have been working out with Koi fitness for a long time, perhaps 12 years. I have run multiple races including marathons and have credited my overall fitness to the Koi trainers. Stevan is the best motivator around. I love the Koi community, we work hard and also spend time socializing, brunch, parties etc.
I am 70+ years young. I would encourage all age and fitness levels to come and workout with Koi. They are the best.

Koi Fitness has been life changing for me. I joined after a long stint of inactivity and gained strength, speed and confidence. I even consider myself “athletic” now. Stevan is a fantastic trainer! He does a wonderful job working with a multi-level group. Everyone gets what they need and personal encouragement in a group setting. The “group” is diverse, friendly, and welcoming – and we enjoy a good laugh, even when we are sweating up a storm. It is also fun to work out outdoors in some of SF's most beautiful settings. If you are thinking about starting a fitness routine or just want to try something new – check it out!!!

Koi Fitness is my favorite! Stevan, Neil and Anthony are all supportive and encouraging trainers who provide clear direction, ensure you're working hard and having a great time doing it. The variety of each day's class and change up with each session keeps you engaged and working hard. You can't get much better than starting your day with a challenging, fun workout outside alongside a truly fun group of people!

I joined Koi Fitness a little over 2 years ago. During COVID, indoor exercise classes just seemed too reckless. I never expected my 6am bootcamp classes would become permanent and important part of my life.
I was not fit. I could hardly finish a class when I first started. Stevan and Ryan have been so patient with me. I am still the last of the pack today but I never feel too much unnecessary pressure.
Another great thing is the people I have met during these tough classes. Everyone is so genuine and kind. Really feel like a big family.

I am not a morning workout person and was dragged to Koi Fitness by a friend some 10+ years ago. I was immediately hooked, inspired by the most beautiful gym in the world (Golden Gate Park and, on Saturdays, Baker Beach), a challenging workout and a warm, fun and supportive community. I have been so impressed by Stevan’s and his instructors’ ability to work simultaneously with people at multiple skill and age levels, whether strong athletes, cancer survivors, or people nursing injuries – we all get the best workout for wherever we are. Unfortunately, I’ve been in that nursing-an-injury category a few times over the last decade, and Stevan and instructors have always worked with me to address and accommodate with their in-depth knowledge of sports injuries, referrals and alternative exercises. Koi is also a welcoming community and has facilitated multiple diverse, multi-year friendships that have extended well beyond our workouts. Not only do I get a great mix of cardio and strength, but I also spend a good part of the sessions laughing. I know that I am a happier, healthier and stronger person as a result of Koi. It is simply one of the best ways to start the day.

I started working out with Koi Fitness a little over a year ago, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, for sure! Experienced, friendly trainers who switch up the workouts so it never gets boring. Really nice fellow boot-campers who make everyone welcome. It’s such a great way to start the day!

I've never been able to stick with any exercise routine, that is til 10 years ago when I found Koi. I've never liked gyms and the gym atmosphere, so being outside in beautiful Golden Gate Park and Baker Beach has been a huge part of what keeps me coming back week after week. That and the fact that if I happen to miss a few days for whatever the reason, getting a "check-in" from Stevan about where I've been, puts just enough pressure to get me back out there. The class group sizes can vary from day-to-day depending on time of year, weather, etc, but regardless of how big or small the group is that day, the trainers are able to get every individual the workout that fits their fitness level. I also enjoy how they mix it up with different locations in the park and different exercises to keep it fresh week after week. And after all these years, I'm still impressed with how much we can get done outside with nothing more than a band and whatever else we can find in our surroundings. Set your alarm and show up, you won't regret it.

I totally love working out with Koi Fitness! A great group of people and a friendly atmosphere. Stevan is a fantastic instructor who gets to know the people in his class, and he always makes the workouts new and enjoyable. I highly recommend trying a class and you'll definitely want to come back.

oi Fitness combines the community spirit of group fitness with the individual attention of a personal trainer - so the working out is as fun as it is effective. Well-rounded and well-balanced, the workouts work for all levels and at the end of each six week session you can see how far you've come no matter where you started. The workouts get harder as you get stronger, and each six week session is different, so you never get bored. It's a workout you stick with because it works on so many levels and it's pretty hard to beat Baker Beach Saturdays with breakfast to follow.

Great workouts and you can't beat the locale -- so much better than a gym. There's also a 9am Saturday session at Baker Beach, which is a great way to kick off a weekend, for the views as much as for the exercise.

Joining Koi Fitness is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life! The classes are well-organized, the trainers (especially Stevan) are amazing, and we love working out with a group of people who are motivating and encouraging at the same time. My husband and I have been working out with Koi since 2011! Stevan plans out each workout thoughtfully so the days complement each other, and one week builds on top of the other. It’s great to just show up and do the work, and not having to think about what’s next while doing the activities. We also love the people we work out with, many have been with Koi Fitness than we have, which speaks for itself in terms of the quality of the training exercises, and the benefit (both physical mental) we receive by working out in Golden Gate Park and Baker Beach. I have worked with other personal trainers before, but have yet to meet a trainer more knowledgeable and humble as Stevan. He is the best!!

I met Stevan in the Golden Gate Park to start what I thought would be a six week tune-up at his outdoor morning bootcamp. More than twenty years later I continue to participate in his well-planned early morning regime - pushing me in ways I would never push myself, and grateful for it. Stevan lays out a program that builds over the course of the weeks - interjecting fitness tidbits along the way and correcting the entropy that creeps into proper form as the muscles meet their limits. And they do. Working with a diverse group, Stevan is keen to assure that participants meet their goals. He can juggle the group dynamic with seemingly effortless guidance - easily managing a range of fitness needs and abilities. It is now a habit: poking around the Golden Gate Park or Baker Beach with a like-minded group of folks chasing that need; chasing that goal - helping push each other along four or five days a week, year after year. And, more often than not, it’s just a lot of fun.

I hate a stinky gym and the monotony of treadmills and stationary bikes. Working outdoors has been a revelation and the only form of exercise I have ever been able to consistently maintain. The trainers at Koi make the classes fun and engender a sense of community in the group, all of which keep me motivated to show up at 6 am! It is a great full-body work out in a beautiful setting.

Stevan keeps you motivated and accountable and encourages you to progress and challenge yourself. You can enter this space with no fear of judgement. I have seen an improvement not only my fitness but in my confidence when exercising.
His (and all the coaches) positive attitude and warmth really puts you at ease making exercise enjoyable and not intimidating. All of the classes are different (which keeps things exciting) and designed for varying fitness levels.
The comradery at Koi is unmatched. Stevan has built an incredible community. If you’re looking to for a community that will help you meet your goals and feel good, this is it.

I’ve taken classes with a number of different boot camps in SF but have never experienced the combination of fun energy, hard work and group camraderie that Stevan generates in a 6:00 am workout! Workouts are thoughtfully designed and a good mixture of strength and cardio. I’m hooked!

I love being in nature, and training with a group. Koi’s workouts are perfect for me, and every time I go it makes my whole day better to have started my day in the park, getting exercise, with a friendly community of people that I see regularly. I tried a bunch of outdoor boot camps, and the culture and workouts at Koi were my favorite.
