the manager cristian is absolutely and unequivocally the worst manager i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. how incompetent do you have to be to consistently have your sanitizing wipes at a gym always run out of stock? when you try to ask him for sanitizing wipes he will conveniently run off to the basketball court and play basketball for two hours, walking past the leg extension machine that is always broken and the pec decks that are also always broken. one time i tried to bring a friend in with the guest pass that comes with my membership and he tells me that he already saw me scan someone else in, when i literally just walked through the door with him!!! i would love to be just like cristian because he is getting paid to do absolutely nothing useful!

I have been join to membership more than 7 years, but last week we want to cancel the training sessions , come many times and asked manager to cancel , but he's always refused, citing various excuses. one time he let my husband come , after waiting for half an hour, he said he didn't have time and asked him to come back the next time. I come back again , also he don’t want to cancel for us , he said will call us in one day, but still nobody call, and then I call today looking for him , I leave phone number , again still nobody call. We're really upset! that is not true! We were free to cancel our sessions right? That is our freedom right? especially since we mentioned my husband had surgery. I have been with LA fitness for many years, I bought the membership which can bring 2 guests, today I came with my husband, I have to leave earlier for an appointment, but today’s receptionist (a 30+ year old man)doesn’t let me go, he said I have to wait for my husband finish then go together! And this receptionist has very bad service attitude, he was staring at me fiercely, I feel he want to shoot me, this scared me very much, I am considering to cancel my membership with LA fitness!

Whoever is calling to sell the yoga program needs to stop you have left me so many voicemails that I'm constantly having to clear out my voicemail since there's no room for other callers at some point you need to give yourself a limit if someone doesn't respond to you by three calls give it up already. When I called to ask for the calling to stop the receptionists are clearly trained to act like they don't know what you're talking about or really don't know what you're talking about which is so mind-boggling as to how they even got the job. I had to literally threaten legal action I'm canceling my membership due to an alarmingly large amount of unwanted phone calls from your yoga instructor trying to sell the program. She wanted to put me on hold and transfer me to someone I told her if they can't figure it out I would be there in the next few days to cancel. Other reasons to cancel, the gym is overly packed. They probably have five benches and 15 people using them. Upstairs is beyond muggy you can cut the air with a knife. It is extremely difficult to breathe where all the cardio equipment is which makes sense you guys have no windows up there let alone zero ventilation. The showers are disgusting and it's clear that they don't have anybody cleaning inside. The only good thing about this place is that the pool was empty however you got to limit yourself to two lanes because the third lane is always been taken by an aquatic swim school doing private swim lessons or the classes, the classes I can understand, but it's clear that LA fitness is putting profit over people because they care more about renting out the pool for swim lessons and making that money rather than the comfort of their patrons who pay to be there. With that being said after 3 months I not only will be canceling and going to chuze but the big kicker is that I save $10 a month by going to the competitor even though it's going to be $10 more? Why? Because I have two kids. And as much as I wanted to add the kids club to LA fitness sorry empty excuse of a kid's room was mortifying to see and exactly why I never bothered to pay the extra 20 bucks a month you guys literally have nothing in there except a plastic toy tree in the middle that looks like it was purchased from the 90s McDonald's don't get too excited it's only about 3 ft tall and unclimbable. I was told ya kids can come in here and just chill on their tablets. Why would I pay you $20 a month for my tablet to be the sitter I might as well leave them at home that way. Nope, going elsewhere. Honestly if it wasn't for those lifelong memberships I don't know how you guys would stay in business.

I’ve had a consistently frustrating experience at this LA Fitness location, all centered around one person: the sales manager, Eric.
When I first signed up back in March 2024, Eric was the one who enrolled me. Right away, the experience felt more like a pushy sales pitch than a helpful sign-up. One of the key benefits he highlighted at the time was the VIP guest pass—something I was told I’d be able to use once every six months for a friend. That benefit played a big part in my decision to sign up.
Fast forward to June 2024, when I actually tried to use that guest pass for a friend. Eric suddenly listed a bunch of extra “rules” and tried to charge me more money to activate it—none of which had been mentioned at the time of sign-up. It felt like he was just making things up on the spot to get an upsell.
Now, in June 2025, I attempted to use the guest pass again for a friend visiting from out of town—a friend who has never once used this pass before. LA Fitness promotes this pass as a free perk for members, but when my friend arrived, Eric made him go through a full tour (which felt like a sales tactic) and then outright denied him access to the gym when my friend told him he wasn’t planning to enroll. Eric’s explanation for denying him was because he said there’s a “clause” in the description of the guest pass saying you need to enroll. There is NOTHING of the short written in the rules that you NEED to enroll after using the guest pass. No explanation from him made sense, he simply just lied. Why advertise a free VIP guest pass as a membership benefit if you’re going to refuse to honor it? Because of this ongoing dishonesty and poor management, I’ve since changed my home gym to a different LA Fitness location. My friends and I are highly upset by this. All we wanted was to enjoy a workout with friends from out of town. If you’re considering joining this location (even as a guest), I’d strongly recommend going elsewhere. This gym seems more focused on squeezing money out of people than honoring the services they promote.

Totally deceiving and unfriendly! When I took my child to apply for membership, I told them that I didn't need any fitness program and just wanted to swim occasionally. They suggested that I apply for a family plan and said it would only be around $45 per month. I happily accepted it! But I was very surprised when I saw that they deducted $85 from me in the second month. When I asked them, they told me that it was because there were two people in my family plan. They said to remove one person's name to get the $45 price! Then when I was about to take my child to swim, they stopped me and told me that the child had to pay for swimming lessons before entering the pool. I had to go home disappointed! I need to find them again to cancel the membership so as not to be hurt by them again! This is really infuriating and sad!

Been to a lot of LA Fitnesses this probably has to be the worse one. Gym etiquette is really poor and bathrooms/ sauna are pretty nasty. Can only speak for the guys room though. Also SAUNA IS BROKEN. Was talking to my friend though and she’s told me some worker had harassed her to do some trainings with him. I’ve also seen the workers really press women more than anything as they enter to try signing up for trainings with them.

For the most part I like this gym, it's my home gym. The reason why I'm putting a one star is because of the horrendous experience I just had with the employee named James. I just wanted to come in and do my cardio but he pulled me over to the office claiming he was just going to check my BMI and fat percentage, which comes with the membership. When I asked if it would take long he said no. But it turned in a sales pitch for a personal trainer and once I realized I said I wasn't interested. But he pushed it over and over. I probably said no 15-20 times and he kept pushing it. And when I said I wanted to just come in and do my cardio and I don't appreciate him pushing this on me he said that with all due respect I have free will???

He's the one that pulled me over and made me think it would be a quick fitness check. He kept pushing after I said no MULTIPLE TIMES. And then when I voice my frustration he turns the blame around on me?? That's straight up predatory behavior and horrendous. Literally the worst customer service I've ever received. He should've just said thank you for your time and let me go to my workout after I said no, but I literally had to storm out and leave. He is seriously making me consider switching locations.

I brought my daughter in as a guest to encourage her interest in fitness and introduce her to the gym environment. While I understand LA Fitness has a 13+ policy, the way it was communicated was unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful. There was no courtesy, empathy, or professionalism—just a blunt, dismissive tone that left a very negative impression.

It’s unclear whether this stems from a lack of training, pride, or simply indifference, but these small moments reflect a much larger issue: a clear disregard for the customer experience.

The facility itself also leaves much to be desired. The front area is often cluttered with boxes and random products, and the promotional displays are haphazardly thrown together on a plastic table. Staff often appear disinterested and unkempt—hardly the standard you’d expect from a national fitness brand.

When I first enrolled, I expected more from LA Fitness. While I hope other locations operate with higher standards, the Chino Hills location has been a letdown. Know what you value as a customer—and if it’s more than just access to gym equipment, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Hello everyone,
This place has worst employees. Especially Joey and Erick. I’ve been member for La fitness for long time even I go gym or not but paying there fee.
Had training with a friend of mine on Saturday morning. These people showed up and start harassing and insulting me my 15 years old kid and my friend keep saying I’m lying over training session. Very aggressive behavior from Erick and Joey stating one of em is GM. So much attitude and desperate to kick us out from the gym. I felt threatened the way they walk with me to throw us off like we had committed a crime. Instead of giving me an apology they were rushed to cancel my membership!
This review is more for the owner to pay attention what’s going on at there business.
I am also a business owner and I know what it takes to run the business. They even didn’t think twice before they canceled my membership was like if I would have said something they were start beating me up. So be careful to this place where they have goons working!!
I hardly write any reviews but this was horrible. Thanks god I kept my self calm and left quietly.
If any higher authorities want to verify this should be recorded.

Our recent experience at LA Fitness was extremely disappointing due to the unprofessional and disrespectful behavior of two individuals named Erick and Joey. They approached us aggressively, wrongly assuming that my family friend was a personal trainer. Instead of calmly addressing their concerns or asking questions respectfully, they ganged up on us in an intimidating and confrontational manner.

The way they handled the situation was completely unacceptable—raising their voices, making false accusations, and showing zero regard for basic customer service or courtesy. It felt like harassment, not a conversation.

We come to LA Fitness for a safe, respectful environment to work out—not to be publicly targeted or humiliated. If this is how members or staff are allowed to treat people, it reflects very poorly on the gym’s management and culture.

We hope LA Fitness takes this kind of behavior seriously and ensures that no one else has to go through an experience like this.

Not all la fitness are the same. This is a good one. Many machines to choose from witb plenty of rope/bar attachments to choose from, row machine allows you to detach the handle bar, not all gyms let you do this so that's a plus , Same for lat pulldown machines.

This gym does not have any sanitizing wipes. They’re rare. When asked when they’ll have more, Cristian the manager said “before covid all you guys had to bring was a towel so I’m just gonna give you a towel” … with Covid and other diseases spreading easily through sweat, sanitizing wipes are a must and are mostly available at all gyms. Real disappointment. You guys need to do better. I’m considering switching gyms. Smells gross in here.

They offer small free locked lockers for expensive items like watches and keys, big lockers for everything else (BYO lock). TSA lock works fine. Smoothie bar and other amenities. Demographic skews older (think 30+) and Asian/Hispanic. Music selection is subpar but then what gym’s isn’t. Good place to eat a Gogurt.

Poor management. The manager never knows what’s going on with his class instructors whenever they are absent for several classes. His response is often “We don’t know”. It’s worst to have the same sub instructor to teach every class when she is not very qualified. He either does not have an answer for your questions or would give you an excuse without a resolution. We travel often; consequently, my fitness focus is challenged when hotel gyms are deficient or non-existent. So my remedy was to join Active and Fit Direct. This solution has been life changing. Today, I contacted LA fitness one of numerous options.
LA fitness is most assuredly a better fit for me as my routine requires adequate weight training equipment. Comparatively, I see this spot gear to all fitness levels up to advanced body builder. An easy measure for me is dumbbells or even plates.
There are still a large number of machine dwellers who do not allow proper flow. Understandably, many of those dwellers are learning so they may be comfort with repetition with a select number of exercises. Typically, I find alternatives to my routine navigating around such instances of delay. Not as much an issue here at LA Fitness, but obviously there are adequate bottle necks due to one machine preference or consideration.
Overall, 8 out of 10 with 10 being excellent. LA fitness is awesome.

I noticed an employee was negligent in the kids club. She sat at the desk in there and faced the computer while the kids (all ages) played by themselves. Manager was notified via phone and his response was” she has been here for years.” Another time I went to pick up my kids and I seen the older woman employee kissing an infant on the cheek. Worst staff and experience ever. I signed up with Raymond whom lied to me about the privileges of the membership in order to get me to sign the contract, I even paid an initiation fee to have a lower monthly rate thinking I would have the plan long term, however the terms of my membership were not what Raymond had said and I no longer attended the gym after discovering this. I tried multiple attempts to contact Raymond and there was no response (although before this he kept sending gym class messages/flyers). I tried to contact him again and received no response. I spoke with the manager Christian and he was extremely rude and condescending. It had been a while between this time because I had been avoiding the confrontation due to anxiety about the whole situation and requesting a refund due to false advertisement. As I explained myself, Christian stated extremely loudly, "It's not that serious and nothing to be frustrated or stressed out about. The gym is a good thing, it's healthy, nothing to have anxiety about." This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and self conscious as he continued to talk about me canceling the membership out loud. He had a weird/amused expression on his face the whole time too. He also informed me that even if Raymond did lie to me, he used the word "misrepresent", that there's nothing I can do because I was emailed a contract that "all consumers are allowed to read." He made me feel that it was all my fault for not reading that whole contract even though I thought I knew what I was signing up for based on Raymond's information. He did absolutely nothing to help my situation and openly admit his staff could have lied to me to get me to sign up. That's $307 down the drain, I only went to the gym for maybe 7 days. I will never again go back here and I don't recommend anyone sign up with these people. Even if you want LA Fitness please go to any other location. Others have said the manager is extremely rude in the reviews as well, and I could not agree more. I genuinely feel conned and I've seen so many people online with similar experiences.

Quite simply, it's a testament to the razor sharp cleaniness and organized structure of this mindblowing one of a kind location.

I would not recommed working out in the weight area if you are pregnant.
Chances are, you will adamanetly request to have your child born there.

Usually, this location is extremely busy during Christmas. The locals recognize the la fitness trainers as santa clauses and have their children come visit.

At night, the gym doubles as a club. With young members looking to train their gaming fitness.

Dually, mornings are bright and cheery. You can even request a cup of coffee to suit your cardio sessions.

Now, the best feature of the gym are two "cute" chairs and a "silver" like sharp glass table by a water fountain.
This gathering of furniture is for any exhausted members looking for a porch like feature to rest their bodies. One can simply sip on water as they wait. Or they can comment on the daily gossip as they watch :).

The gym is small to enhance the intimate ambiance of the California Mountains. The words "Inspire" "motivate", are emblazoned at the ceiling. One can feel the drive and ambition just simply reading these words. As I type this, I get the urge to run for President. La Fitness has done it again.

Wendolyn and Wamblie are my favorites. Come by and say hi to this amazing fitness location!

Bad service and saleswoman. They will making lays when you wanna sign in for membership. Here is the true story. I told them I only need 2 months for the membership. They charged me from July till November. So I tried to talk the saleswoman. She looks like she doesn't care about it at all. And I couldn't get my refund.

I missed the renewal date by less than a month as so for my punishment they wanted to treat me like a new customer and charge me $600 for 18 months- after refusing to pay that the twenty-something said let me speak to my manger just like a car dealership and came back with $499.99 for 12 months ...Seriously I can do math - without a phone. and walked out. 20 years olds in that tiny gym have way to much power and are going to lose a lot of business

Been a LA fitness member for 11 years. By far Chino Hills facility is the worst. Showers are horrible. Majority of them barely work. Manager is arrogant and rude. Weekend hours suck!!! Thinking about crossing over to 24 hour!

So my experience is based using the facility at 745am. Place is clean. Equipment is in good condition. Overall a bit small and workout areas are a bit too close to each other.

The facilities are kept clean, staff is friendly. Unfortunately corporate time frame for equipment maintenance and repairs at this location are sub-par and the facility hours on weekends are pretty lousy across all clubs.

Weekend Hours:
Friday 5AM–9PM
Saturday8AM–5PM
Sunday 8AM–5PM

Really should be open the same hours 7 days a week. It was fine during COVid for shorter hours but should be 5AM-10PM 7 days.

Staff should be in weekly contact with Corporate about more attentive equipment checks and maintenance weekly. I see more sales staff sitting around then walking the club doing checks and inspections of the equipment and facilities and asking members about their experiences.

When I lived in Irvine, our Irvine, CA corporate location… 5 stars. Equipment down for less than a day or 2 and weekly maintenance. If anyone from corporate is reading this… let’s get back to some TQM- Total Quality Management across all clubs.

Too crowded, the epidemic is over, but the business hours have not returned to before. Some equipment have to be queued. Some people play with their phones on the equipment .

It’s smaller than what I was used to in my former gym. No one appears to wipe the equipment after they use it which is disgusting. That’s something the staff needs to fix. However it’s a good location and there’s lots of great classes and lots of equipment. It’s a gym….you get out of it what you put in.

Terrible staff and manager. The manager Christian is disrespectful and could care less about his customers. Most of the staff there are money hungry and would try their hardest to have you sign up to a membership but if you decline their offer they will be rude and kick you out. Sign up at your own risk.

La fitness chino is a great gym but run by unprofessional manager I am unsure her name but start with a "S" My personal experience for the gym is positive but the manager ruined the vibes and turned it into negative. I stopped go there and in my opinion Go at your own risk.

Just started going here as it’s closer to my house than my previous gym. Signed up online to avoid having to talk to employees. However, I got a message saying that I can meet with a personal trainer to go over my weight , goals, and other basic stuff that they usually go over when you start at a new gym. The upsetting part about it was that the two ladies were verbally telling me that I want achieve my goals and lost weight if I don’t a get a personal trainer that cost 200-440 dollars a month. They said I am unhealthy and will not be healthy if don’t get a trainer. They were so condescending to me , I respect and understand that they are trainers and need people to train but they way they handle it and pressured me and I’m sure others ways so wrong. I’ve been an athlete my whole life and know how to workout and maintain and reach my goals and they made me feel awful. I can’t imagine how they treat other ladies or men who are intimidated to speak up for themselves not be pressured. They went about the whole thing so wrongly and rude. Really considering if I want to keep going to this gym and if I should just stay at the gym I am already at. So unbelievable and ridiculous to belittle someone who wants to workout and lose some weight. Not okay

Muy luminoso y limpio, el staff cuida de que uses tu mascarilla todo el tiempo y no rompas las reglas del Racquetbol, solo dos jugadores y con mascarillas, me parece bien, también vi que sanitizaban el piso de la cancha de basquetbol, exelente me siento segura..
