Every time you come in the equipment is neglected. More and more pieces of equipment is broken and they don’t fix it. Today 10 machines need servicing. Who knows how many tomorrow that won’t be fixed. And they stress you out buy putting on the news on tv. Who needs that. It’s enough you see it at home. Run t don’t go to la fitness. Used to be a good gym a long time ago. Find another place.

Very disappointing experience with LA Fitness.
I reached out multiple times to the customer support team regarding an issue with my membership freeze and unexpected charges, and nobody ever responded. After weeks of trying, I finally contacted the corporate office, only to be told that because I “don’t have it in writing,” they won’t do anything about it — even though the manager at my home location was the one who made the promise in person.
It’s extremely frustrating that LA Fitness won’t honor what their own staff told me, and that they put the burden on the customer instead of fixing their mistake.
Between the lack of communication, no accountability, and unhelpful corporate response, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had with a gym.
I would strongly recommend that anyone considering LA Fitness get every promise in writing, because even when their staff makes a commitment, they refuse to stand behind it.

Don’t try using the free pass here—they’ll require a physical ID to prove it’s you. Otherwise, you’ll need to pay the $20 entry fee or sign up for a membership. I think the rule makes sense, but what felt unfair was that the employee let my friend in with a digital ID. Later, when my friend came to ask about it, the employee said, ‘I let you in, but we’re not open to doing that for others.’ It seems like the gym’s rules aren’t applied consistently.

I quit this gym for 2 main reasons: you can't actually swim in the pool unless you constantly want to battle for space, and the water in the jacuzzi is so dirty that you can't see the floor. I was told by management they only clean the pool/spa 3 times a week!! Yet there are literally hundreds of people using these facilities every day!! Really unsanitary. Locker rooms are not too clean either.

This is a general review for all clubs. I see several employees sitting down talking to each other or on their cell phones. I think they should walk around every 15 min and help instruct people on proper form.
I’m working out next to this older lady who clearly doesn’t know how to use the machine she is on and could hurt herself. It shouldn’t be up to other patrons to help her out.

From my experience, current management is either busy in a chaotic fashion, or just on the cell phone scrolling.
I asked for help with amenities today, zero help with zero explanation.
The front desk person was impersonable.
The head manager offered zero help with zero explanation as he shooed me away frantically getting back to his task at hand.
Bad customer service and all around bad representation of health/wellness at the West Grove club.
In 14 years of being apart of this club never have I walked out of those doors feeling so frustrated and upset.

Do not advise working with the training manager Christian. I had signed up for a training contract that I lapsed on not being able to use because our household went down to one car. I called in for 4 months asking for a call back with no one ever responding. I advised that I understood I would be charged for the contracted months but that I didn't want to be charged any over that. Not once did they call me back and resolve it but continued to charge me. 4 months over my contract I finally called very upset and the front desk guy finally canceled my training and said there was nothing he could do on the other months they charged. When I called guest services they showed that all my sessions had been used even though I hadn't been in for 7 months! This was fraudulent and very unprofessional. If you are looking for training I would advise to go elsewhere. I have done training at hard-core fitness places before who were the same if not less for more sessions and they did a phenomenal job. Im very disappointed in the way they handled this situation. The fact that Christian was given multiple messages and did not contact me back but continued to charge my card and say that the sessions were used is wild.

I came on Tuesday at 6PM to swim and didn’t realize they had a class going on. I was already in my swim suit and the instructor saw me and asked “ are you in my class?” I said “no.” The lady then gives me an annoyed looked and attitude and says “well you can’t swim right now. And it’s only from 10-7.” I was just stunned by how she told me and left. I don’t think she needed to say it in a rude way. I left the gym not wanting to come back to this location because of this instructor.

This gym is alright, it's not too busy. The elliptical machines are all powered off when you arrive, so you have to take more time to get started on them. You have to pedal a while just to get the power to come on, and then you can finally start entering your settings. The machines in Cerritos are already powered on when you approach them so you can get started faster. It seems like they are promoting conservative news on their TV's now too, that's all they show. Used to be more balanced with different stations.

I had a disappointing experience at this LA Fitness location. One of the staff members informed us that we would receive a complimentary one-month pass for guests after our workout. However, after finishing our session, we spoke to another staff member at the front desk who told us we didn't qualify for the free month, despite both of my brothers being members. Additionally, at another LA Fitness location, they offer a free month to workout, which made the situation even more frustrating. The staff member tried to charge me $20 for a one-day pass and was rude in the process. I found the entire experience unprofessional, especially since they initially allowed me to work out and promised the free month. Based on this, I will not be returning or considering a membership at this location.

We have only been a member of your gym for two months, but the management is very poor. We put our clothes in the Locker and found that important items (credit cards, driver's license, etc.) were stolen after swimming. After calling the police, the manager said that there was a problem with the video camera and it couldn't be seen. Is this an internal operation or a cover-up for someone? We are very very disappointed with your management here. I was talking to a friend today and it turned out that my friend's gym at another one of your locations had the same things stolen on March 7th.

I needed to reactivate my account, I use Renew Active through Medicare. I’ve been going to LA Fitness for 5 years. And I renew my membership once a year. I tried to renew my account 4 different times. I’d come in early , 30-45 minutes before my class. No one would ever help me. I was told that the workers at the desks were busy. But I could clearly see that on more than one occasion they were not busy. Just using their cell phones or on a break. The one time someone said they’d help me , I had 15 mins before class. He said it would take longer than 15 minutes. I told him that every time I renew it, it only takes 5-10 minutes. He said no. I was there another time while only one person was at his desk. Playing on his phone. On his lunch break. I asked when he’d be free. It was 2:30. They told me 4:00. I was So frustrated that time after time I couldn’t get any service. And most all the staff members act like they’re annoyed !!!! Not friendly at all. It seems very unprofessional even if you’re on your break to be sitting there at your desk doing nothing to simply act annoyed. I went to the Huntington Beach LA Fitness after I emailed LA Fitness to complain. I heard back from their manager. I came in & he wasn’t there. But the lady at the desk helped me & my membership was renewed within 10 minutes !!!! I’m very disappointed with the staff at Chapman & Valley View. I only go there because I enjoy the Water Aerobics class. But I prefer the HB location much more !!!! Which I also go to

Just like everyday, 5 sales rep doing absolutely nothing and no attendance to the bathroom. I was surprised they had a friendly associate at the front desk. This gym is poorly managed, not my problem but I would be embarrassed if I were the manager. Clean your bathrooms. No splash guards or cakes in the urinal. The tile needs to be steamed clean or replaced. I only used the restro here if an emergency, I always just change in my car in the parking lot. The members are all pretty chill and everyone re racks and wipes down. They have a ratio of 10 to 1 sales rep doing nothing all day to cleaning personnel.

This is my gym. Love it! Great staff at the front desk. Always friendly and helpful. Management are almost always there and ready to help the members with any issues. I bought a new phone and forgot my login credentials and Operations manager Andrew took care of it in like 30 seconds. Top notch trainers here. Always friendly and knowledgeable. This gym has a sense of community to it and I felt welcomed immediately. I've made way too many friends here!

I would give you this place a 0 stars. The general manager Kristo Ayala is so disrespectful and rude. I made a 3 day pass and I scanned and walked in he ask my partner how did we get in, I told him we had a 3 day pass and he said it is not valid till 24 hours. I check the terms and looked online nothing states that we need to wait 24 hours. So I let him know that and he said I make the rules here. I asked him if he can please show me the rules and regulations where it states that (as every business should have this) and he said I am telling you and I am the one who makes the rules and regulations. I politely asked again can you please show me the rules and regulations and I will leave and he said I’m telling you and I make the rules here. He failed to show me anything stating the rules or regulations for this. I went ahead and called another LA Fitness to confirm and they said they had never heard of that and it was weird. They said as long as the sales person is there we can go in, which the sales person was there because Kristo said that he can take me to the sales person and I can buy a $20 dollar day pass granted it was at 9pm. I don’t know if it was discrimination or simply an arrogant person that was lying and that’s why he couldn’t show me the rules and regulations but me and my partner felt very disappointed and offended.

I do not appreciate the client services here. I talked to a personal trainer that I did not want to continue with the contract. He pushed back asking why and that I should continue. I expressed my concerns that no one was reaching out to me and that my $360 monthly fee was going to waste. Even though he heard me out, nothing was changed. Do not expect the personal trainers to go above and beyond. Then I tried to cancel again letting them know I was moving out of State. They encouraged me to keep the contract but that I would be charged only $45 a month. Here I am being charged $360 (via auto renew) without any notice. Thanks LA fitness.

This is the closest gym to my home so I have been coming here for years but lately the Sauna is just disgusting. Some members eat inside the sauna and leave the peels behind and napkins, others sit naked on the benches without using a towel. While I understand these are the members doing, I wish the gym management would enforce a sauna etiquette and be on top of the cleaning more often throughout the day.

This is a very average LAF in terms of equipment and classes. They added powerlifting platforms and plates recently, so that was cool. The AM staff are kind and work hard. The biggest issue with this club relates to facilities. The power went out recently closing the club and they have endless plumbing issues.

I like the variety of machines they have. Some of them are too close to each other making it awkward to work out comfortably. The pool area needs to be upgraded, cleaned better and more often. Keep in mind that when you join you will have a hard sale for their personal training program.

This trainer, Joel. First impressions, he's very assertive, straight forward, yet, fairly friendly. There was no problems with my encounter with him, as my original trainer couldn't take me, so he filled in. He wasted no time, since he was already working over his normal hours just to work with me and even staying after our session was over to make sure I fully completed the workout.
Really put me through it. Which is good. Pushing me to my limits.
We spoke about how he really likes to help people in there work out journey, even if it means working overtime. Moving from different locations and working with a different people everyday.
While reading the other reviews about him, you may interpret this as you will, but he was generally nice to me, as a trainer. He's a cool guy overall💪

I came in yesterday to try out LA Fitness. Im currently at anytime fitness and I was looking to downgrade. Well a definite downgrade indeed. So much worse I wasn’t even allowed in. When showing the manager Joel my free pass I was immediately interrogated like I was some hostage. He asked if I have a pass from anywhere else, and I said yes. After saying that Joel said that I can’t workout unless I pay him $20 because of my membership at a different gym. So basically my free pass and business meant absolutely nothing to Joel. Considering the man is probably on some atrocious commission spread, it makes no sense why I was treated like a toe nail. When I said I don’t want to pay for a pass Joel insulted me and claimed that I don’t have any money. Joel is a complete cancer to this company and doesn’t deserve a position anywhere. I have notified everyone that I know who goes to the GG location and they will be cancelling immediately. I have also shared to everyone far and wide on my social media platforms about Joel and how he treats his prospective customers. LA fitness I would highly suggest doing something before Joel completely destroys the Garden Grove location’s reputation. Large corporations like LA Fitness need to hold accountability for this type of behavior.

Let me start by saying this.. the front desk person (I believe his name was Zion) was much more professional than the assumed manager at this location, Joel. Joel was unprofessional and came up to me as if we were in a fight. I asked to terminate my agreement the same day I signed up, and was told to come in the following day (Sunday) to speak to the operations manager. I come in Sunday and Joel says he never said anything about Sunday, though I had confirmed with him twice before leaving.
I come in Sunday and Zion was very patient and he made me aware that the operations manager is not present. And guess who then comes out asking for a fight, saying I want to go to a cheaper gym and not wanting quality gym.. What manager even says things like this? Is this how you attract your customers? His tone with me changed 100% as soon as he realized I wanted to terminate the agreement. This will be reported to corporate.
I will come in with the letter tomorrow terminating the agreement and I will drop it off with the manager. Joel, I've been in the customer service industry for 12 years now and you need training. It just doesn't make sense how the front desk person was more professional than you were.
What a shame. By the way 24 hour fitness offering annual membership at $26/mo for the highest level with 2 guest passes and national access to all the clubs. They've earned my business.

It’s very easy to like an LA fitness. That is this nice. This place is beautiful. The staff is incredibly friendly, but I love the upstairs cardio for some reason that really appeals to me but for some reason, this place really appeals to me because it’s clean, the parking lot is huge, the staff is incredibly friendly, and they have a lot of wonderful offerings from local business. July 2023 update. These people will swindle you out of your money with no humanity or regret. Some of us are suffering serious hardships. I needed to back out of a PT contract because my grandmother is terminal and declining. Juan and Joel are the worst of the worst. I’ve been getting the run around for 2 months now. Attended this gym for about an year and a half, decent equipment and very friendly people who attend the gym. On the other hand, the staff, hours, and some of the rules on "buddy passes" is what tanks this rating. You are allowed to bring a "buddy" in, but here's the catch. You can only bring this person in for ONE week and if you want to bring them back in after that ONE week you have to wait a whopping 6 months or so before you can bring them back as I was told directly from the front desk. Secondly, if this person has any previous memberships at ANY LA Fitness, you will NOT be able to bring them in for whatever reason. Furthermore, when working out you aren't ALWAYS looking to talk to someone, I'd say about 1/3 times there is always someone walking around with a clipboard asking you if you know anyone who you would recommend to this gym, and if so for you to give them their personal info. Though I understand that they are just trying to make connections this became very annoying for me as it would happen so much to me specifically it became a burden. Lastly, the hours on weekends are absolutely absurd, there is no reason a gym should be closing at 5pm on a weekend, though I'm not saying they have to be open 24 hours, the fact that they would open at 8am and close at 5pm is absurd. Apart from a majority of my complaints though I was still able to get a very solid workout in with the equipment found there along with the fact that usually it never got TOO crowded for me to workout.

Although the square footage compared to other LA fitness franchise gyms across the country is much smaller, I found the equipment to be better taken care of than similar facilities. Dumbells were placed back in the rack in appropriate locations and most members seemed to clean up the equipment. It definitely felt tight due to the lack of space and the number of people working out even during the late morning hours, but I would hesitate to return when I'm back in town.

Gym equipment is decent at best, very packed most of the time they close way to early Saturday Sunday (4pm)
They were also supposed to have the sauna fixed by nov 19th which is what the sign on the sauna door said, now today when I called I was told they have no idea when it will be fixed . 24 hours is a better all around option

Decent place to work out. With sauna, swimming pool, free weights, racket ball court, showers, lockers, smoothie bar with energy drinks made to order. Weight machines, cardio machines and classes. Be careful with this location! Someone copy my signature to open the club (HIIT) for someone else under my account. I found out because someone called me that the payment can’t go through (not my card) and I talked to someone (staff) that I wanted to cancel because I didn’t sign up BUT they didn’t believe me and insisted that I have to pay the cancel fee, they didn’t try to find out that who did it! Clean the bathrooms...simple as that. The tile is soooo nasty they need to steam clean and if that does not work tear it out! I have been coming here for years. Love the gym itself but the bathrooms are never clean. Gym has been remodeled so its odd that the bathrooms were sadly skipped.

The gym equipment are not properly cleaned. The pictures show an accumulation of dead skin on the handle bar… the flecks got on my hand when I grabbed it. This wouldn’t happen if LA Fitness put an effort to clean/scrub equipment at least once a month.And I sprayed the Formula 236 (available to customers) beforehand because of safety precautions - I wonder if the gym equipment gets wiped ONLY by customers. The floors, locker room, and bathroom are always clean tho, that’s great.

Why are the hours still so reduced, Planet fitness is open 24 hrs, UFC Gym is open 24 hrs and 24 hrs is open 24 hrs. I am not requiring you guys to do the same but paying $30 for a gym that is open 8 am - 5 pm during weekends is ridiculous.

Please read the contract before you sign it. We were told we would be able to freeze a personal trainer membership in case of financial problems but NO. They will not allow it. They will tell you lies in order for you to join ! Also, personal trainers are often late and at times don’t even show up. I’m very disappointed with management and don’t recommend this gym.

Please open the gym a lot earlier on the weekend. Maybe at 6 am. I have many family obligations during the weekend and can only go to the gym if it is earlier. Weekend business hours from 8 am to 5 pm is too short: Also, can you please open until 11 pm or 12 am on weekdays again? It is post pandemic now, please give us back our hours. You charge us higher rate, but give us less hours.
