The rules of Pilates classes is ridiculous!!
When you book a class it says if you not attending at the class will be charged $15. I drove from Glendale ! There was a traffic , I and I was at the parking at 11:35 min , went upstairs, checked in at the gym immediately when I got there , but the doors was closed ! I asked James to help me ! But he said I can’t do anything and I will be charged $15 for not attending at the classes ! **The Only Star Goes To:** CJ the sales rep, who somehow maintains contagious joy and greets everyone with a genuine smile despite working in what can only be described as the gym equivalent of Gotham City before Batman showed up.

**The Reality:** Look, I expected Hollywood glamour. Instead, I got Hollywood *Babylon*. I walked into the locker room at 6pm on a Tuesday—prime time, respectable hour—and was immediately transported into a scene that would make even the most jaded HBO exec say “this is way too much.”

The showers have no curtains. This is apparently a *feature*, not a bug, because at least three gentlemen were treating the communal shower area like it was a Grindr IRL peep show. Sir, this is an LA Fitness. There are Turkish bath locations with more decorum.

**The Sauna Situation:** Out of service. Possibly permanently closed. I have theories about why. None of them are good. All of them track.

**What This Location SHOULD Be:** A flagship! A beacon! Hollywood! Celebrities! Influencers doing content! The main character energy!

**What This Location Actually Is:** A dark web novel that somehow got a business license and a monthly membership fee structure.

**The Existential Question:** How is CJ still smiling? What does she know that we don’t? Is his joy a superpower? A coping mechanism? A cry for help disguised as excellent customer service?

**Bottom Line:** If you’re looking for a gym, go literally anywhere else. If you’re looking for material for a gritty urban screenplay: perfect location. If you’re a local therapist, you’re working overtime and you deserve a raise.

*Management: Please. I’m begging you. Curtains are $30 on Amazon. Do the bare minimum.* (pun intended)

Absolutely worst gym I’ve ever experienced in my life. Management does not care about your concerns. Neither do the employees. Females: you are not safe here or taken seriously. Employees are even afraid to speak up for fear of getting fired. Toxic workplace.

The male manager of personal training harassed me for weeks from July 11-August 27 when he “left”. I contacted corporate after he left and for weeks I got no follow up and nobody did anything about it. Until I saw him back in the gym on September 29. Turns out he never transferred, he went on vacation. Corporate refuses to refund me.

Luke is aggressive when he doesn’t get his way. He has lied, manipulated, verbally assaulted, and even physically assaulted me at one point. He literally walked across the gym to where I was in a secluded area and shoulder checked me hard. In August, my female trainer canceled on me multiple times before finally quitting due to her experience with the male personal training manager herself. So when she left because of him, I did not feel comfortable taking further training sessions with any of his subordinates. He claimed he was transferring to another location so I stayed at the gym.

Well, about a month later on September 29 I come in to the gym and see him. Confused I ask why he transferred back. Turns out he never transferred, he lied about that. He just went on vacation. So I wanted to cancel my membership since I waited weeks trying to address the harassment after he “left” to no response. Haven’t been back since. Finally today almost a month after my initial emails and complaints, I got a hold of the headquarters higher up Rojene who refused to refund me for the unused personal training sessions, which is a couple hundred dollars.

Management doesn’t understand why I don’t want to just work with another trainer under his leadership. Or why I don’t want to just go to another location after they disregarded my multiple emails and calls for weeks. Gee I wonder why….

This place is disgusting both visually and in the way they run things. It’s absolutely unacceptable. After trying to contact multiple higher-ups and getting my harassment from the MANAGER disregarded by his higher ups, and them keeping hundreds of my dollars, I will never ever ever step foot inside of an LA Fitness again.

I’ve been going to this Planet Fitness for about two years now and I love it. The staff are always super friendly and helpful, and the place is kept really clean. I’ve started doing the Pilates class and really enjoy it—the instructors I’ve had have been great. I also love having the sauna here, it’s such a nice way to end a workout. Overall it’s been a solid spot for me and I’m glad it’s my gym⭐️🩷

Dishonest. Be careful. Asked the front desk to assist with an opportunity that took place with validating parking garage ticket, the response given was “that never happens here.” Then proceeds with “oh well, when that happens people just come back up and get it validated again.” original response being a lie, now makes me question what else is being fabricated. I love to workout at this location but unfortunately The front desk is careless of their job and duties, so maybe they should be jobless as well because they have an important role at the gym; when I want to workout I want to at least be welcome to the gym that I deeply love and appreciate and not be welcomed with a very disturbing attitude. This gym should really reconsider their choices on who they hire because in the last couple months I’ve been feeling this weird and sometimes rude and careless vibes from the front desk when everyone else is in a good mood.
I gotta clarify is mostly the afternoon/ night people because I don’t workout morning so I can’t talk, but I think like in any other place; employees have a big role when it comes to the experience of the place you go to. I’m a bartender myself and I can guarantee you, if I give any of my customers the energy these people at the gym give, the would never come back to my bar or they wouldn’t feel comfortable.

I have free parking for 2 and 1/2 hours and pretty good equipment. The weight room feels a little bit like a cave, but that's okay. You're here to work out anyways. The gym could be a little bit cleaner, especially the locker room. But you get what you pay for for the subscription price

I was overcharged for a month that I had frozen my account, which I had to freeze because I had to leave the state to care for my mother with brain cancer. I called for a resolution and was told my member agreement says a certain amount of notice would be needed before the freeze. I read the agreement again and saw nothing that said that. Called back and said if they wouldn't resolve that I would file a dispute with the card company. The person said to go ahead and do that because the management does not ever refund for billing issues. Unsure why my CC dispute was denied. I went in person to speak to the manager Chris, was told he only works Monday through Friday. Go back again and the first front desk employee refuses to get the manager and starts arguing with me about this notice period required in the agreement. I said well then show it to me because it doesn't say that. He prints out the agreement, shoves it on the counter, and storms off and disappears. I read the agreement again and it still doesn't say anything about that. The other guy at the front desk was tied up on the phone so I waited for as long as reasonably possible but then interrupt to ask where the other guy went, why he just left without resolving the issue, and if he can show me where it says in the agreement that a certain notice is required to freeze the account. He can't, and around this time the lady with the fancy dresses comes over and hears out what I'm saying. I even said I would be ok with a credit to my account instead of a refund because I was hoping to unfreeze the membership. She then says well the manager is here but he's busy, and that she would have him call me. It has been weeks and I have not received a phone call. This is ridiculous. I am canceling my membership, reopening my dispute, and will report them to whatever the hell consumer protection agencies I need to. These people should be ashamed.

My friend and I visited the Hollywood Signature location while in from Toronto, and the experience was exceptional. CD went above and beyond to welcome us, even inviting us to try our first Reformer Pilates class since it’s not offered at our home gym. He recommended Liz’s class — and we’re so glad he did. Liz was warm, patient, and incredibly encouraging, making our first class unforgettable. We loved it so much we came back for a second session before leaving LA. Had to cancel my membership because they lied to me. I chose this gym over others because the sales person told me I could bring a guest anytime. I haven’t gone to the gym in months and when I tried going in the guy at the front desk stopped us and said my younger brother can’t go in. I told him that that’s what we were promised when we signed up. Another sales guy took a look at my account and said the guy who signed us up no longer works here so we either buy a second membership or he can’t come in. The air conditioning has been out for the basketball and racquetball courts for almost 2 months. Every time I say something to the front desk they say they're coming Friday, or they're coming next week.
After weeks of this they said, "the first guys who came didn't fix it so we are hiring someone new." Well guess what that was two weeks ago and it's still broken and hot as heck in there.
I'm convinced it's not even broken they're just trying to save money on electricity. In this amount of time they could have hired an engineer to design a brand new air conditioner and build a prototype from scratch.
Also, this location smells terrible. The elevator smells as if it has never been cleaned since installation. The scent that hits you in the face upon entry is nauseating like a wet dog.
To top it off went for the hot tub today and half the jets are out and it's barely warm. Like probably 80 degrees. I'm sure they will fix that in a couple years or less just like many of their machines which are constantly "under maintenance". It's funny cause I've never seen someone do maintenance at this location ever.
Maybe they need to focus more time on maintenance and cleaning and less time trying to sell more memberships. Avoid this place.

I am dissatisfied with the sanitation standards and subsequent handling of my concerns at LA Fitness. On 2/26, I terminated my membership due to the unacceptable cleanliness of the jacuzzi. Specifically, I observed the presence of heavy accumulation of sand and unclean water with other debris, posing a significant health risk. My report to gym management regarding these unsanitary conditions were met with a dismissive response and a lack of immediate action. Notably, there was no attempt to restrict access to the affected jacuzzi until proper sanitation could be performed.
My decision to cancel was directly attributable to this issue. Following my cancellation request, which included a detailed explanation of the unsanitary conditions and their role in my decision, I received only a confirmation of cancellation. This was not an automated response, indicating a direct review of my request. The absence of any apology, acknowledgement of my concerns, or attempt to address the substandard facilities and inadequate handling of my complaint is deeply troubling. This experience suggests a disregard for member well-being and a prioritization of membership numbers over individual health and satisfaction.
The expectation of a clean and well-maintained facility is fundamental to any fitness club. The demonstrated lack of attention to hygiene, coupled with the management's dismissive attitude, reflects a serious deficiency in customer service. I strongly advise prospective members to carefully consider alternative fitness facilities that prioritize cleanliness and member satisfaction.

really like this location I have been coming to this location for years, even when i was living in LB, now that I'm back in LA I still come, I just can't understand why the elevator has been out of service for so long, I Don't mind walking up the stairs SOMETIMES, but lately in the past 6mos or so the elevator has been out of service, which I can help but to wonder.....how are the handicapped who can't walk up the stairs are being accommodated?, so even though I really like this location, I will sometimes go down the street to the El Centro location...where there's no curtains in the men's shower😄but that's another story.

This is the LA fitness closest to my house. The main basis for my 5 stars is value. You get what you pay for and a little bit more. Convenient location, free parking and all the things I need in a gym: Plenty of free weights, basketball court, swimming pool and dry sauna.

Updating my review based on more than two years usage. I don't think there is a better deal for about 50 bucks a month. They've got everything you need and I am always happy to bring guests here when they are visiting.

Updated October 2024: This gym has a cockroach problem and management has been negligent in addressing this health risk. Moreover, the gym is constantly impacted by power outages that result in limited equipment being available. The pool is unreliable as it constantly gets shut down. Overall, I do not think this gym is worth the cost given their unreliability in delivering on their promise. For context, I tried to make this gym work for about 2 years but I’m cancelling to seek a more reliable place.

I'm very happy with this Club, they handled covid very well I thought even freezing accounts when they were closed for several months I think about 6 or more which I thought was fair. There's a male and female attendant for the locker rooms they are constantly mopping and cleaning and also throughout the gym. Here's a tip about getting the best deal on a membership: I paid 3 years up front and locked in a rate of $18.25 a month for life so if you have the funds to do it this way that is the best deal and you have to ask your salesperson about that deal as they don't advertise it. I'm sure it's gone up since I've been a member for probably 7 years now but it would be less than the other Deals they offer.

Most of the staff at this location are First Rate. There was one person there that seemed to put everyone on edge making the employees miserable. I called her the DRAGON LADY. The facility is very well maintained with most of the equipment in first class shape. The only issue which didn't make sense was the fact the elevator never worked. You had to climb several flights of stairs to get into the gym. Hopefully now the elevator works, and the Dragon Lady has made an exit. Otherwise, the gym blends well into the entertainment world.

Have lived a block away from this gym for 4 years but they never make any improvements. Cardio Equipment is old and outdated. Even with my $9 grandfathered membership from 2005 it isn’t appealing to go there. Rather pay and drive anywhere else. Outdated, dirty, malfunctioning equipment. Not a motivational space.

This place is not the best, the weights in the weight room are not re-racked and all over the place and its hard to find the 2 of the same weights you need. In the winter it's like a sauna in the weight room, in the summer its intolerable. Its always crowed and hard to get through a workout. I asked a guy today how many sets he had left on a cable machine and he said he just started? I told him that gives me very little information and he said he had 18 more sets...so he basically took the only duel cable machine for 45 minutes... Last week i saw another guy in the locker room who was standing in front of the sink with hair clippers shaving his body hair which was getting all over the sink and floor...its just a disgusting hot place and I hate coming here.

I trained at the club for a year. But everything went wrong when my friends came to me and I helped them with training. I was told that I cannot help my friends. I saw other visitors helping each other, but it was I who was forbidden. This is not justice. I closed my account. I do not recommend the club. Not friendly.

I'm somewhat disappointed with this gym. The equipment frequently malfunctions, and there's a noticeable lack of sanitation stations for cleaning the machines after use.

Additionally, the absence of a designated stretching area before workouts is inconvenient. Given its prime Hollywood Boulevard location, one would expect a higher standard of quality. My rating: 2 out of 5 stars.

I’m content with this location. I wfh so I can get there a little before the evening rush so usually get to access the machines I need. They validate parking at no cost under a certain amount of time so I drive a little further to get here vs the el centro location. I also like the juice/smoothie bar in this location. They have milk alternatives and vegan protein. The location manager Christine is very nice and helpful if she’s around.

The only thing that affects me is that the free weights room needs some windows because wowwwwww the odor is strong oof.

Horrible Gym; it needs to be closed down and completely refurbished.

It used to be a nice no-frills gym, but poor management is causing its ruine:

1) The changing rooms are extremely filthy
2) The elevator has been broken for over a year, and users with mobility issues are forced to walk up a really steep flight of stairs
3) Machine can stay broken for over a month

This club is in the heart of Hollywood and should be the flagship of LA Fitness instead of being a joke of a gym.

There are two cable machines broken, and people use them a lot which makes the waiting even worse, the jacuzzi has been scheduled for maintenance for maintenance for over two weeks but nobody seems to be fixing anything, there is a peck deck machine broken for over two months now along with another pec fly and rear felt machine that has been broken for close to three months and it hasn’t been fixed, they charge me monthly for these things but yet they’re always broken when you actually need them, along with some other equipment that is scheduled for maintenance but nobody’s fixing them and they’ve been like that for a very long time, definitely more than a month each.

She was super helpful in explaining the facility to me and answering all of my questions. The gym was very well kept and clean, and had tons of wonderful equipment. I would highly recommend all of my friends and family to go to the gym and speak to CK for any questions you may have.

I actually liked going to this gym and would get back eventually, but not after they put me through with the membership cancellation process!!!!!

I called them first. I was told that I have to come to the office to be able to cancel my membership. I wasn’t happy, but I made time. I came to the office (not a Hollywood location) during office hours and was told that the manager is not there, but I can send an email with my name and phone number so it will be taken care of. I’ve done it and was promised that now my membership is for sure cancelled.

And today I found out that I was already charged twice since then!!!

I haven’t worked out in months, and am a newbie to the gym world. I just joined LA fitness last week, and was so warmly welcomed by Jason at the Hollywood location. He gave me great information about how to set my goals and how to form a routine for myself, and never made me feel silly for not knowing things. Our personal training session was the perfect balance of him feeling like a friend, and him pushing me hard to be my best. I left the workout dripping sweat, muscles sore for days, and was such an amazing way for me to take a first step back into the fitness world. I would recommend him to everyone, and I can’t wait for our next session!
